    Seafood pancake

I can't believe a pocha opened up in my neighborhood! Naan Soju Bang is a Korean bar serving up delicious bites that pair perfectly with drinks. The service is quick and friendly, the music is on point, and there are two TVs playing baseball--great vibes all around. My friends and I stopped by for happy hour to grab some drinks and dinner, and it did not disappoint. First off, the drinks were solid--super tasty and well-made. But the real standout was the food. Honestly, this was some of the best pocha food I've had in the Bay, better than a lot of the more hyped spots. Everything came out piping hot: Corn cheese had an insane cheese pull--so satisfying. Chicken wings were ultra crispy, almost glass-like, with great flavor. Pretty sure there was turmeric or curry powder in the seasoning for an extra kick. Seafood pancake was packed with seafood. Not the best I've had, but still very good. And the Rose Tteokbokki? Absolute star of the night. The sauce was rich and savory (not too sweet), and the rice cakes were cooked perfectly--chewy and fun to eat. Food here seems to be very intentional and thought through by the chef/owners! I'm definitely coming back with more friends. If you're looking for great Korean bar food and drinks in a chill setting, this place is a San Leandro gem.

Great food and great service. Food came out timely and was easily shareable. Everyone enjoyed each of the food especially the rose poki. Place was moderately quiet while we were there other than conversations which is expected since it does have alcohol

Wine and cream mussels with fries was yummy. Could taste the wine in the entree, and this would be doubly delicious if you can add rice vermicelli with it as the rice vermicelli would soak up the sauce. *hint hint! Rose tokpoki was hearty and spice level was good enough for us. We did not add ramen as that would have been too much carb. If only they allow a little more customization such as adding fish cakes etc. into this entree. Kimchi fried rice was subpar for the reason that it lacked flavor since the rice was on the bland side.

Wow! I'm so happy we found this diamond in the rough tucked in a residential part of San Leandro. My bestie and I were searching for some warm food and good vibes late on Saturday night. This place was one of the few open after 9:30 pm. When we walked in, the ambiance was so cozy. Christmas lights and decor and soft lighting. There was a kpop playlist going but not too loudly. We were very hungry and everything on the menu looked so good. We asked the server for recommendations and she was so helpful. We're familiar with Korean pocha food and based on what she told us, we had to try the rosé tteokbokki (added ramen and cheese) and the chicken wings. We added the seafood pancake as well and a couple cokes to drink. The chicken came out first and it was CRONCHY. The chicken itself was marinated and the breading was seasoned too. I didn't even need a dipping sauce. Then came the tteokboki. First of all, it was huge! I knew our eyes were bigger than our stomachs! At first bite, we looked at each other and smiled. It was sooo deicious! Not too sweet and not too spicy. The rice cakes were pillowy soft and the pork belly slices added texture and flavor. I couldn't stop eating it and still had a bunch left over. Last came the seafood pancake. It came out so hot and crispy. I was getting full at that point so only ate a piece it. It tasted great with the sauce. I would say the prices are reasonable. Main dishes were $15-$20. We could have been full with just the chicken wings and tteokboki. They have a full bar, so drinks could raise your tab much higher. Service was super friendly and welcoming. The vibes were cozy and warm. This would be a great spot for a group - like 6-8 people - so you can try more things on the menu. I look forward to eating here again soon.

Naan Soju Bang opened where Banju Bay once was. Same infrastructure, new decor/menu. Offerings (traditional Korean): appetizers, sides, mains-soups, army stew, tokpoki (rice cakes), fried rice), booze, drinks... Ordered One dish to eat in, one to go. Ready in 10ish minutes. Bites: Army Stew (22) -created after 925 War: aka Korean War in U.S. bases from supplies from U.S.: spam, ham.... -an healthier version served. didn't have much spam/ham in it. Noticed kimchi, ramen, spam bits, A few mini sausages/hot dogs, tofu, green onions. All added savory notes. Broth had hints of garlic, gochujang. Sharp notes of hotness from chili flakes was unexpected. Yummy for the non burning parts. -other savory notes from shitake mushrooms, dried anchovies, kelp, sea salt muted chili's burn. *broth a complex blend of flavas..not just prominent ones. Cheese corn (8) -lots mini corn niblets baked with mozzarella cheese. Very addictive from confluence of kewpie mayo, sugar, onions, salt...

Omg was randomly searching for a new spot to try and came across this jewel !!! It's small and cute nicely decorated, the owner / waiter was so dope ! The food was fresh and amazing. We went the Tokpoki (Hella Good) , the wings were full of flavor, kimchi fried rice with spam was perfect!!! The drinks strong and tasty ! I would definitely come back it was empty and I don't understand why but hey more for me lol

Warm friendly vibes with comfort bar food Mussels and Fries - yummy sauce that you can soak the fries in and slurp up with the mussells Rose Dokbokki - rice cakes in gochuchang sauce, the rose means that they add cream in it. It was very tasty and heavy. the cream cooled down the spice, but i paid for the dairy after the meal. the owner recommended a different type of soju that went down smoother than others in a blue bottle. she was friendly and welcoming Overall i think this would be a good spot for a friends gathering!

Quality/Quantity - Got lucky and made it for Happy Hour with 9 minutes to spare. So we decided to participate and got the following: Kimchi Potstickers - 10 for only $6 is a good deal. Deep fried and fairly small, but again a good deal. Fresh out of the fryer. Seafood Scallion Pancake - I think this is different from our usual Korean seafood scallion pancake. I did like it, but my wife did not as much. Tokgochi - Not sure why my daughter ordered this, as she knows I can make it better. But she craved it, so we got it. Actually, we got 2 orders. Steamed Egg - Again, two orders. This was good, but they came out at different times. When the second one came out, the first one deflated. Mussel Soup - Generous quantity, perfect quantity for 5 people. Good flavors, especially the broth. It did have two closed mussels, but we did not bother to bring it to their attention. Rose Tokpoki - When did my daughter like bacon?!?! This was actually my favorite dish! So creamy! So glad she ordered it. Too bad it arrived last and as light eaters, we were all full. The good news was that I will "doctor" it up tomorrow night for a round two dinner! I will create my own version of "Army Stew" using this as a base. Atmosphere - Very small local restaurant. Small parking lot, but plenty of spaces today. Open 5 days a week from 5pm to 10pm or 11pm; closed Sunday and Monday. Service - 5 Stars. The team and owner were very friendly and welcoming. Ashley, the waitress, was ON it. From making sure we got our order in for HH to keeping our waters filled, etc. The owner also spent some time talking to us. Price - $84 + tip. Reasonably priced for what we got. I think if we ordered more of the entrees, we might have enjoyed this more. Just means we need to come back. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success for the last 8 months.

Really love this place ! Was able to grab some items from happy hour menu . The mussel soup was interesting but good ! I loved the fried rice . I can't wait to come back and try more items ! Quick service and friendly staff!

    Kimchi potstickers, tokgochi

Really happy to see a new Korean restaurant in San Leandro. Banju Bay was fine, but Naan Soju Bang is much better. Dropped by for the first time last night shortly after they opened and we were the only ones inside. The owner gave us a warm welcome, told us about the happy hour specials, and gave us time to peruse the menu. It's neither a tiny nor large menu, just the right amount of options for a few different plates, and what's on offer is pretty varied. We got the kimchi potstickers, army stew, tokgochi, chilled kimchi noodles, and the mussels and fries. My husband loved the mussels and fries, which is one of his very favorite dishes (so the bar is set high for him). He cleaned his plate and dumped the rest of his fries in the sauce to soak up all that flavor. I loved the kimchi potstickers, which were fried to a nice crisp and had great kimchi flavor. There were quite a few to an order. However, the army stew was the standout dish of the night for me. I absolutely loved it. Just enough for two people, it was a mix of tofu, spam, ramen noodles, and kimchi, topped with a boiled egg. Just the perfect thing to eat on a cold winter night, with an absolutely delicious broth. I could've eaten the entire pot myself and ordered nothing else and would've been happy. I didn't really care for the cold kimchi noodles, only because I felt the sauce was too sweet. I also disliked the texture of the tokgochi, which were a bit hard on the outside, felt almost hollow to the tooth on the inside, and tasted a bit bland. We came back tonight for round two because there were other things we wanted to try on the menu, and again were the only people inside when we arrived at the same time as last night. This time we got the tokpoki and the spam and egg fried rice. Everything was delicious. The tokpoki has a good kick of spiciness but nothing very intense. It was enjoyable without being overwhelming and killing all of the flavor. The fried rice was flavorful, the egg cooked perfectly so we got some nice runny yolk, and very generous with the spam. Like the dishes from last night, everything was sharable between two people, but if you're hoping to share with a group, order a little more. The owner was just as friendly and welcoming the second night as she was the first. Super kind, checked in on us just enough, and even gave us a complimentary Korean snack while we waited for our meal. The vibe is much better here than it was when this was Banju Bay. Naan Soju Bang is definitely going to be part of our regular restaurant rotation. Really hoping this place does well. Be sure to check them out.

4.8/5 this place really does their korean flavours well! their rose tteokbokki is soooo good the flavour is insanely rich and creamy and tasty, i will say tho i find myself wishing there was more of the rice cakes i felt like there was a LOT of meat but only a few rice cakes, the mussels in the cream sauce was sooo good i loved dipping the fries in the sauce, would highly recommend definitely come here with a group so u can try more things ! the service was very good and the owner was nice and helpful

Mmmmmm..the scrumptious Rosé Tteokbokki with mozzarella cheese!
    Priscilla D.

This place is dangerously delicious--in the best possible way! From the moment you walk in, the warm and welcoming owner makes you feel right at home with service that's as inviting as the food. I tried the Rosé Tteokbokki with extra mozzarella cheese, and it was absolutely mouthwatering! The creamy sauce combined with the stretchy cheese was pure heaven. Honestly, I was so tempted to order it again the very next day, but I had to show some restraint! And let's not forget about the cheese corn--it was rich, creamy, and utterly scrumptious, a perfect side that left me craving for more. San Leandro has gained another local gem!

I've come here twice in the past couple weeks, and I am a HUGE fan and sincerely hope that this place stays open forever! My favorites here are the rose tteokbokki (with added ramen and cheese!), as well as the kimchi fried rice. Melanie made a fantastic lychee mocktail for me as well and it was DELICIOUS. Pros: - happy hour menu available for some cheaper apps, eats, and drinks! - the rose tteokbokki is FIRE. it's so good, comes out at the PERFECT warm temperature, super QQ texture rice cakes and the ramen just makes it so much better. The sauce, is *chef's kiss*. Tastes just as good the next day too! - The fish cake soup was really good after having a ton of drinks! - really cute modern ambiance with KPOP playing in the background, it's such a cute vibe where it's not too dark, not too bright, and not too loud. You can still hear your friends' conversations but it's not so dead quiet that it's awkward. - Very efficient service, and Melanie the server/owner(?) is so kind and friendly. I honestly feel like she has a better handle on this place than Banju Bay that was here before at this location. - I am very into the concept of a limited menu which makes choices easier - EVERYTHING on the menu is pretty much delicious, you can't go wrong with the corn cheese, potstickers, and other appetizers. - Lots of drinks available! Love that there's soju, long islands, beers, tons to choose from. - Best for parties of 2-4, there's one larger yellow table in the middle that can hold maybe like 8 people but overall the place is pretty small and intimate. - Easy parking lot! Cons: - none. come here now and support this local business! Already can't wait to be back.

They're definitely on a mission. This one in San Leandro may be 2 years old and is a larger one. I think most of them are in huge spaces now with a large outdoor feature. Here their outdoor area is partially covered, like the sides, but the center is exposed to the open sky. They dot the space with large olive trees, so it has a nice beer garden vibe. We sat in their bar area, and I noticed that even though you are super close to where all the employees are, you get the most do-it-yourself type of service. We had to get our own beers at the bar station, place our food order there and repeat the process anytime we wanted anything more. Now the employees do bring the food out, will clear empties and bring a takeout box if needed. But I think the system is a bit flawed to only allow service personnel to only do partial the work, and create a system for them to avoid customer interaction. But when that tipping prompt comes up on the screen upon paying, the highlighted buttons of 18-20%+ aren't shy at glaring at you front and center. Just an observation and a 2020s cringe for me. I tried 2 of their lagers styles that day as it was pretty warm out and both were really good. Very bold and assertive in the hop ratio, which is a Fieldwork stamp. And what I liked is that they actually tasted fermented in the true lager style which is long, slow and cold. Garlic Fries ($9/4*) Standard and solid garlic fries. Thinner fries, crisp, clean and a good salt presence. A good amount of a cooked garlic is tossed in so isn't that 'spicier' raw garlic type. A dusting of parm is also in the mix. Great with cold crisp beers. Trust. Pepperoni Pizza ($22/3.5*) I remember I tried this same pizza at their San Ramon location and was really impressed with that one. Like a top 5 pizza for me here in the Bay. This one kinda had the similar traits but just wasn't as tight as my original try. The one in San Ramon was crisp throughout, without being overdone. This one was crisp on the outer edges but was limp in the center, so when picking up a slice, a major droop occurred. The pepperonis were totally legit, but the cheese here seemed more wet for some reason. Very milky in taste, but I think it is the reason why the center stayed wet. Again just an observation. Pretty good add for San Leandro, with 21st Amendment closing within the year. This keeps San Leandro a strong brew destination still with Drake's nearby still in the fray. I'm sure I'll be back, just don't love their mode of service chosen.

Personally, this bar wouldn't make my top 50 list, but for some crazy reason they're loyal to it, so I show up for them. Recently, I've popped in a bit more and wow, the "changes." They finally made an Instagram, which got me excited for a second--maybe they were stepping it up. Nope. Just like everything else here, it's inconsistent. They post food specials, I come in ready to spend money, and... no food. Overheard it was a management issue. Shocking. Then there's the alcohol selection--or lack thereof. I'm not even a big drinker, and I have a better bar setup at home. Half the time they're out of basics, or waiting on the owner to maybe, someday, bring more. Call yourself a bar? More like BYOB and hope for the best. I'll give credit where it's due: I've met some cool people here, and they're the only thing keeping this place alive. But even they seem tired of the chaos. I heard this is the oldest bar in San Leandro, and honestly, I'm amazed it's still standing. Must be sheer luck or nostalgia, because it's definitely not management. Two stars because I don't hate the regulars--but let's be real, if this place wants to survive, it needs way more than an Instagram and a prayer.
