I've ordered to go and have dined in. Both times have been great. The galbijjim tastes good as is but I recommend adding the cheese. It tastes especially good if it gets a little crispy on the sides of the bowl. The meat was easy to eat. My friend devoured 3 ribs. The vegetables and rice cakes in the pot were soft and full of flavor.The sauce at the bottom of the bowl had a lot of flavor. You could eat it with rice. The spicy marinated crab came with a bowl of rice with toppings. They give you gloves to eat it with. It wasn't spicy. The spice just added flavor. 1 of our crabs wasn't good but the rest were really good. The rose tteobokki was also a table hit. This place was pretty good. For one, their side dishes definitely made me feel at home. Now the entrees. Spicy chicken bbq was okay, too sweet and flavor was basically tteokbokki sauce. Corn cheese was delicious but pricy. It was perfectly sweet, cheesy, and savory. Naengmyun was disappointing. I'm a naengmyun maniac and this is exactly what I didn't want. I'm from KTown in LA so I know Bay Area naengmyun are usually hit or miss (I still have yet to find a spot that even remotely compares to my favorite spots in KTown). The broth was both flavorless and bland, noodles were whatever. Wouldn't get it again. Tofu soup: absolutely delicious. First time visiting Tang Jip. I went on a Sunday night. The inside was quite busy. My table waited 30 minutes to get off the waitlist. Unfortunately some items on the menu sold out and we had to cancel one of our orders as a result. The banchan did not come with refills as the kitchen was underprepared or understaffed. The food was amazing. We got the galbi jjim with extra cheese and rose tteokbokki. Those were my favorite. Restroom was clean but out of paper towels. Great addition to downtown Hayward. We need a good Korean restaurant in this side, and this one has marinated soy crab which the other Korean restaurant in Hayward does not have. We were worried about parking but found plenty in the back but it's right next to an adult store - hmmm:) It seems safe though. The place was modern, and very clean. I can't believe this used to be a Japanese restaurant before Service was top notch, and they asked if we have been there before, if we knew how to eat the raw crab, and explained in good detail what to do. We came here for the raw marinated crab! First off, parking is a little challenging. There's a small parking lot, but some street parking, as well. When we entered, we noticed the decor was pretty nice! Restaurant seemed clean and each table had an ordering tablet. We placed our order and within about 10 minutes, all of our food came out hot and fresh (with the exception of the raw marinated crab). -Soy raw marinated crab: comes with rice that has fish roe, seaweed salad, dried seaweed, and maybe some sort of radish. If you order an extra order of this rice it's +$9. The raw marinated crab had a good amount of flavor, and was very fresh. A bit on the pricey side, but I guess it might be straight from Korea. You don't get to pick the size of the crab like some other restaurants in SoCal. -seafood pancake: came out so hot and crispy, lots of seafood. Felt like this was done very well. -seafood soon tofu: came out bubbling hot and remained hot for a long time. Comes with an egg you can crack into it to cook. It came with a lot of tofu and seafood, which made this dish so worth it. We got spicy for heat level and it was perfect for spice lovers! Banchan was very fresh. I really enjoyed the pickled kimchi radish. It has a bit of sweetness I enjoy. The fish cake was sliced into thin pieces. There was also soybean sprouts, japchae (a bit on the plain side), and kimchi. Tang Jip might be my favorite casual Korean spot in the East Bay. Everything hits and the portions are so worth it. You need to get these dishes: Galbijjim - I love how the tender beef complements the salty savory sauce, with bits of rice cakes and pumpkin in the mix! Soy marinated crab, mix it with roe and their rice bowl and it's unreal. I recommend trying the spicy raw marinated crab for elevated flavors. Soon tofu combo: your choice of bbq meats + tofu soup under $30. This would definitely be my go to here. Such a good value set, I really enjoyed my bulgogi and seafood tofu soup. Galbi tang, so comforting and clean tasting with chunks of beef and glass noodles. Plus they don't hold back on the six yummy banchan (side dishes) and are quick with refills, which I love. We came here on Valentine's Day around 5pm. No waitlist required but after sitting for 20-30 minutes, there was about 4 parties waiting to dine inside. Definitely come early! We really wanted to try their soy marinated raw crab and hear really good things about their other dishes too. We also ordered the bossam appetizer, and a short rib beef soup that was definitely worth the visit. The bossam appetizer doesn't come with cabbage even though the pics show cabbage on the side. However, it wasn't much of a big difference seeing how we had so much food. Very typical bossam tha was very fulfilling. The main stars of the dinner was the soy marinated crab and the soup. The crab is served with a rice bowl filled with typical Korean sides that you can mix with the raw crab meat. The rest you squeeze the meat by hand using food gloves provided. Overall a very fun and delicious meal! The soup was definitely the highlight of the dinner. It's served with a generous amount of rice and definitely is more delicious served together. This location use to be a sushi place and I even remember how the set up was. Now this restaurant took a more open space approach which is actually really nice. They have iPads to order from on the tables in the main dining room. So we've been to the Concord location and had a great time there and had some amazing food. So me and my boyfriend decided to try the Hayward location. When we got there, I honestly didn't think they were as busy but I could be wrong. Anyways, we were sat almost immediately and was assisted by our server. We ordered the Tteokbokki, the beef dolsot bimbimbop, and the beef short rib. We received our banchan right away along with refills since we were finishing it so fast. Their banchans were actually really good and very tasty. So our appetizer tteokbokki and short ribs came to our table at a decent time. The short ribs was really good and had great seasoning. It was well made and cooked well. Their korean bbq has definitely been always good. So the reason why I gave them 3 stars was because of how long it took for my order to get to our table. I ordered the dolsot bimbimbop and I honestly don't know why of all orders this was the one that took so long. It took almost if not more than 30 minutes for this meal to arrive and even then after I asked for it and was told 5 more minutes it was another 15 minutes and I just told them to pack it up since I no longer had the appetite to eat also my boyfriend was done with all his food and I haven't started yet. What was frustrating to me about this was a table that came way after us, ordered after us got their hot stone bimbimbop so I honestly think they either forgot my order or took my order to a different table. They didn't charge me for my order and gave me 10% discount for my next visit. I appreciate the gesture of trying to make things right. Hopefully one of this days we'll try them out again. read more

We ordered the dinner for two ($69.99), which came with beef short ribs, kimchi, two bowls of rice, and several fermented side dishes. Delicious Korean food in the East Bay! My friends and I came here for a friend's birthday dinner, and it was a great experience! We did come here for the raw marinated crabs; however, we were informed they already sold out for the day! It made sense, though, as they only had a limited amount each day. We decided to order: rose tteokbokki, kimchi pancake, galbi tang, and bossam. All of the food we ordered was delicious, and there were no misses. My notable favorites are the galbi tang and the bossam. The broth of the galbi tang was so flavorful and light, and since it was a cold night, it definitely warmed me up. The bossam was super tender, and we ordered lettuce to make it into wraps. We also ordered the Jipyeong makgeolli, which was light and sweet. As a birthday treat from the restaurant, our server came by with a sparkling lychee soju shot for my friend, and luckily, our server gave our table the soju bottle to try! It was very light, and I love the taste; I never had sparkling soju before, either. The restaurant's decor and interior are also beautiful. Super spacious and perfect for big groups! So excited for this Korean restaurant to thrive in the East Bay! I often go to the South Bay for Korean food, so I was thrilled to learn that Tang Jip had opened and offered soy-marinated crab!! The restaurant had a lot of seating, so we didn't have to wait too long to sit down. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. He would promptly get us scissors, extra napkins, or chopsticks when we asked. My group of 5 went to Tang Jip around 6:30pm on a Sunday evening primarily wanting to order the crab, but we unfortunately missed it by 20 minutes as they had ran out for the night. Our waiter notified us that there was a crab shortage in Korea, which is where they source all of their crab from. Despite missing out on this, we still ordered other dishes and really enjoyed them! The banchan was amazing, and the bok choy was my favorite. They refill any of the sides for free as long as you finish them.The kimchi pancake was great crunchy and savory. It was not spicy at all. The rose tteoboki was very soft and had a lot of rice cakes and fish cakes. They added the boiled egg and cheese for free, which I feel like some places charge for it. The galbitang was also soothing as it was very cold that night, and they gave a generous amount of meat and noodles. The bossam was my favorite as the slices of pork were very juicy and did not have a ton of fat on them. They do charge extra for lettuce, however, for the entree version of the bossam. Otherwise, the entrée version comes with radish paper and rice. We ordered a bottle of jipyeong makgeolli, which was slightly milky and had a subtle sweet taste. It was our friend's birthday, so they also gifted us a sparkling soju bottle that will eventually make its way to the main menu! We were so surprised and thankful that we got this! This Korean restaurant just opened in our area, and honestly, Hayward really needed a good one. We came a couple of days after Christmas on a Sunday night, and it wasn't too busy. After watching Culinary Class Wars, we were seriously craving good Korean food and voila! We discovered how good this place is. From the moment you step inside, the vibe is amazing. They had kimchi jars displayed at the front (not sure if they're actually fermenting them there), but it was such a nice touch and really added to the atmosphere. The service was great. We ordered the Bossam (appetizer), and it was more than enough for the two of us. It should be a full meal at that point lol not complaining!! Went here on a Friday night and it was hopping! We ordered corn cheese, kimchi pancake and kalbi jjim. Food breakdown incoming: -Banchan were tasty and plentiful. I liked that they included japchae and two kinds of kimchi which you don't always get. The kimchi was especially tasty and is clearly homemade. - Corn cheese was a little bit of a let down because it was just cooked corn with cheese melted on top. I know that might sound silly, but I like the version that comes in a cream sauce a little better so maybe that's my personal taste. - Kimchi pancake was very good! We saved some for two more meals. - The kalbi jjim was tasty but the wait for it is what took this down from a four star to a three star experience. It took very long (like over an hour) for it to come, so by the time it did arrive our rice and other stuff was cold. To give credit to the staff they were very gracious and attentive and explained that there were just a lot of orders and not alot of space to cook them, but it was still tough watching everyone else eat and leave while we were still there waiting. I'm so happy they opened a good Korean restaurant in Hayward! This is one of my favorite local spots. It replaced the old Japanese restaurant. The decor inside is cute & they really tried to bring the culture to life. My husband and I always get the combo, soon tofu + meat option & depending on how hungry we are, sometimes we even get the bossam. We normally go for our normal samgyupsal & bulgogi protein picks but the other options are good as well. The food is always delicious and the banchans are good as well! When we came by while it was raining, they automatically gave us hot tea which I loved. The staff are kind although not always attentive but I didn't take a star away because they were kind and helpful once you got a hold of them. For the first time, the samgyupsal did come out a little light for my liking. Almost undercooked. I kindly asked if they could fry it longer for me and they had no issues doing that. It was better when they brought it back! Never had this issue before but if it comes up for you, just know you can just ask them to cook it longer. Something note worthy is that they don't give you the cabbage wraps for bossam. They only give you lettuce which is unfortunate but it still works. Recently the Bay Area has been cold and rainy so me and a couple of my friends decided to meet up and get some Korean food! We came on a Monday evening around 6:30 and we were seated immediately. The inside was inviting and spacious. At the table there is a tablet where you can place your order. The whole ordering process was super easy and at your own pace. We ordered the soy raw marinated crab, kimchi tofu soup, and the Galbi jjim. All the banchan that came with the meal were super delicious. The Napa cabbage kimchi was definitely a stand out! I've never had raw marinated crab before so when I saw it on the menu I knew I had to try. The crab tasted fresh and sweet. I thought the seasoning didn't over power the taste of the crab. Even though we came early in the evening, there was quite a bit of a wait. We ended up waiting about 30 to 35 minutes before getting seated in the separate room towards the back of the restaurant. One of our dishes took a bit long to arrive and when we wanted to order, it took the wait staff a bit long to get to us. It wasn't particularly busy that evening but maybe the restaurant was just short staff that night. Food: 4/5. The side dishes were delicious and it was refilled upon request. The seafood pancake was my favorite. Great portion size and had a lot of seafood in it. We also got the bulgogi which was just ok and it took forever to arrive. We came for the spicy raw marinated crab and the portion size was super generous. I didn't like the texture but my husband loved it. They gave us so much crab that we couldn't even finish it although we both came hungry. We had enough leftovers of the crab for lunch the next day. Overall, a solid 4 stars restaurant and the crab was a great value. Waited for maybe 15-20 min to be seated saturday night (around 7:45pm) Food was good for the most part, we mainly came to try the soy marinated crab. Alongside it, we ordered the appetizer size of bossam and kimchi jiggae. We were served kimchi fried rice instead of kimchi jiggae, but informed the server that wasn't what we ordered. They also got the order wrong for the next table, so be sure to double check with them. We were a bit disappointed with the raw marinated crab, thought the portion size would be more than a singular crab, but that's all you get. It was hard to eat since the spiky parts of the crab weren't cut off. It was nice that it came with a bowl of rice and a variety of toppings. However, I would not reorder this again for $37. The bossam was very tasty, the meat was flavorful and I love the kimchi radish it comes with. I wish it came with the usual napa cabbage. I asked a server about this and they informed me that it's only for the large size. I didn't see anything on the menu that noted this, that would have been nice to know. The thinly sliced radish was a good substitute, just didn't hit the same. Finally got to try this place. Came here for weekday lunch. No wait. Could be different for dinner rush. We mainly came to try the raw crab. I couldn't pick between spicy and soy but ended up choosing soy because of the crab roe. It was delicious! It came with special seasoned rice that you can put in the crab shell and mix it up to enjoy! It is on the pricier side but worth trying if it's your first time. Seafood pancake was whatever. Too much batter. Galbitang was a comforting bowl of soup! Slightly salty but I will give it a pass since the meat was very tender. Will come again to try the spicy crab and shrimp! read more

We chose to come here for my dad's birthday because my sister raved about it and we were hoping to get dessert across the street at the bakery called Always Yours. The interior of Tang Jip is warm and inviting and the noise level is pretty average, not a chaotic place at all. I opted for the beef sundubu which I got spicy and it was delicious! My sister tried the mild seafood sundubu and she said hers was lacking flavor and we're not sure if it was because of the mild or because they forgot seasoning. I also tried the mandu and corn cheese. Both were good, pretty standard but didn't blow me away. Presentation of all the dishes was pretty. Personally I thought the food was good overall and I would come back if I was in the area and craving Korean food, but I didn't love it enough to make the drive again especially because parking in the area is hell. We were a huge party of 10 and the servers were very friendly and highly accommodating and attentive. 4 stars in total, mainly because the service (5/5) was amazing but I'd give it more like a 3.75 rounded up because the food was just alright for me. read more

We LOVE the one in Concord. It's our go-to after our pickleball tournaments. So we were super excited to find out that one was opening up a few minutes from our home. We've been here twice now. FOOD: The menu is not exactly the same. Overall, they offer very similar items, but this location: - doesn't have a pork tofu soup which is very unusual - offers pork-jimm too - they have a assorted variety of raw marinated seafood (which we've yet to try, they were sold out when we went tonight) - their banchans don't include the homemade fish cake (which the Concord location has, and it's THE BEST fish cake I've had in banchan ever). We were a little sad they didn't serve the same ones here. Other than the difference, I love their galbi tang and their seafood pancake :) My go-to order whenever I come here. SERVICE: Orders are made on an pad at your table now (drinks need to be ordered in person). This makes it very convenient, however, can still be had to wave someone down for banchan and water refills and getting the bill. The first time we came, the lady got my sister's order wrong and we were offered a 10% off the next time we came. AMBAINCE: Very spacious, clean, modern, and nicely decorated with traditional Korean designs and colors. Overall: we're super happy that Tang Jip has made it's way near us! Came here on a Sunday night around 7pm with a friend and shockingly no wait for a party of two! Already off to a great start. Walked in with high expectations, ready to be blown away like I was the main character in a K-drama food montage. Interior & vibes: Super cute. Clean, cozy, and nicely decorated traditional touches with a modern feel. The ambiance alone made me think, "Dang, this is about to be fire." Service was friendly and quick, no issues there. Food: We ordered the soontofu, kimchi pancake, and galbitang. Everything came out looking absolutely photogenic like "don't touch it yet, I need 12 angles" photogenic. Flavor-wise though... it was a mixed bag. The soondubu was bold but leaned salty, the pancake was crispy but a bit heavy, and the galbitang looked beautiful but tasted pretty standard. BUT shoutout to their bonchon. Honestly, the bonchon was delicious. Super fresh, flavorful, and probably the thing I enjoyed the most. If they sold the banchan separately I might just door-dash that on its own. Unfortunately, after the meal, I caught a slight stomach ache the type that whispers, "Yep... that's a lot of MSG." Not enough to ruin the night, but enough to know my digestive system was negotiating terms. Overall: I came in excited but left slightly disappointed.
