Great breezy atmosphere. Quick service, and Covid friendly. Great $3 margaritas. I highly recommend this place.

My boyfriend and I went to myrtle beach back in May and this was probably the best food we had during our week long stay. I'm a nacho lover and the nachos here are so freakiiiin good! They LOAD them with so much deliciousness.. And hugggge portions as well! The nachos alone could be a meal by itself... But being the fattys we are we ordered other stuff. I got the shrimp quesadillas and the BF got burritos. The drinks were also pretty legit and the whole atmosphere was cool and hip. The location is nice- right across the street from a little pond with a bridge where locals walk their dogs and what not.... Def stop here if you're ever in myrtle beach! read more

Not sure what's happened to this place but not what it once was. Slow service and took an hour and a half to get tacos for 3 adults and one child. Quality has gone down as well as service. Tip for the hippo- put the shrimp and fish back in the tacos your skimping where you shouldn't- used to love the food here last visit meh at best. If you order something to drink order at least two you won't get a refill. I really wanted to like it better oh well ....... read more

Food was fine, but not as special and unique as it is made to seem in advertising. Service was mediocre and inattentive and prices were high for the portion size of the shareable nachos. $19 fajitas came with three small tortillas when we needed 5 or 6. We ate most of our fajita fillings with a fork. We were told there would be a charge for more tortillas. Bathrooms were unkept. It all just felt average for the price. Nothing special. read more

This is a decent restaurant with a cool atmosphere and variety of southwest style nachos and tacos. Probably best known for their nachos which are very filling and good. Many styles and toppings with to choose. I have also tried the tacos with were ok but not as good as the nachos. I'll be back for some cold brew and nachos and would recommend it to others. read more

My husband had the Hungry Hippo nachos and I made my own nachos. We both got the personal size and that size was huge. We both ate all of our nachos. They were very tasty with all the toppings. Always wanted to try it here! It's a fun environment and the food looks good and who can resist a margarita? We got nachos and the mushroom quesadillas with chicken. Food was great! Came out hot and pretty flavorful for an Americanized Mexican joint. The problem was the margarita. It came out more clear in color which I was actually excited about because no real margarita is lime green in color but when I tasted it, it literally had no flavor. There was barely any tequila, and faint lime flavor, and lots and lots of ice. Two swigs out of a tiny straw and it was gone. Gone for $7. I was gonna say something to the server but it was already drank and that's not cool to mention it after the fact but it really didn't start bothering me till I thought about it more. This place was an absolute disappointment. We didn't have really high standards considering if was a franchise but it was disgusting. The fried chicken was rubbery and undercooked. We ordered the mahi tuna tacos they had one slice of tuna. I mean for a $6 taco I would like to taste the tuna. We asked for a salad without the tortilla bowl and of course it came out in the bowl that truly wasn't to worst part. The quality of the food was horrible. The shrimp nachos come with fried shrimp we take the first bite and the shrimp was breaded so we assumed the tails were off but we were wrong. Absolutely disgusting. read more

Nacho Hippo is a fun environment for both families, and young adults. The setting has fun hippie vibe with hippos and tie dye everywhere! The staff are very friendly, and the service was quick. I got two tacos, and nachos to share with my group. I recommend the if you're going you should definitely try the Hipponachomus Nachos, and the ka-ka-ka-Kia tacos if you love spicy! Any place where the menu revolves around Nachos is great in my book. The atmosphere here is cool. Seems like a good place to have drinks with friends. Even if you don't drink, like myself its very enjoyable. The nachos are really big even if you split them and reasonably priced. HARASSED!!!! DISCRIMINATED!!!! We proceeded to let him know it was ok! confused on why did he rush out the door after we where finished with our dining experience to ask us that !! He then proceeded to tell me he has seen me here before and have serviced me and my boyfriend which was my first time there it made me feel very uncomfortable and singled out !! HE TOLD ME "IF WE CANT TIP WE NEED TO GO TO McDonald's "!! loud in front of other customers since we can't afford tipping him !! He was so upset with us he didn't see the tip that was left on the card transaction. IN SHOCK BY WHAT JUST OCCURRED We let the manager know and he proceeded to tell us to calm down when we weren't even that loud .Anybody would be upset if they where followed and harassed by a big guy like that he gave us a number to the boss. But that was all that was done ,we felt his behavior was acceptable to them because he did it with no issue. Why would you ever tell someone they are broke !! I feel if I went back I wouldn't trust him this experience made me feel unsafe and discriminated against all Because we didn't give him the tip he thought he deserved!! Friendly, accommodating staff make you feel welcome. Recently expanded square footage was much needed as restaurant is always somewhat full. Can now handle large parties, birthdays, teams etc in separate room. Full menu here unlike airport location is good and they've re priced so dainty diners can order a 'single' portion of nachos. The 'shareable' size is the original and the way my family likes nachos a must. $3 margaritas all day unless you opt for premium. Fun kids menu and choices. This might well be an "I just ordered the wrong thing" scenario. Because the lady at the table next to me had a salad that looked amazing and my husband really enjoyed his nachos. I ordered the Gringo chicken (with no pico), the Bang Bang shrimp, and the pineapple pork (I forget what it's called). My biggest beef is that I don't like onions. I probably should have guessed that the mango and pineapple salsas would have raw onions in them, but I didn't. I did request a new Gringo with no pico (since that's how I originally ordered it), but then I thought it was really bland. ‍ Totally not your fault I don't like onions! Most people do. Two of us went here on a rainy day in Myrtle Beach. We each got three tacos, not realizing that they were pretty large tacos. Tacos came out piled on a small side dish, we had to ask for a real plate to eat off of. I ordered the Baha Fish tacos with fried fish, the Bangin Shrimp, and the Rock Lobsta. All three were good although the Rock Lobsta could have been cut up a little so it was a little easier to eat. It was one piece of breaded lobster in the taco. Boyfriend had the Ka-Ka-Ka-Kia, Rikki Tikki Tavi, and the Gringo. He was not thrilled with his. His friend plantains were terrible. Service was good. Table was a little dirty. A great place to satisfy everyone in our huge group! Called in a take-out order for 17 people. The woman who took my order called me back to check on how we wanted one of the dishes cooked. Everything was labeled and made correctly, with the exception of 1 special request. Not a deal breaker. Also, it was all delicious! Quesadillas were great and they had a nice variety of tacos, so everyone was happy! Sat at the bar while waiting for our order (hard work but someone had to do it). Yum!
