Making appointments is as easy as can be. Prescription refills are always checked and evaluated and dispensed appropriately. Cathy is the lead nurse and she is always super organized and extremely helpful and communicative! Colleen is such a sweet and welcoming member of WellcomeMD. I always love seeing her face!:) Heidi is fabulous on the phone and great with communications. She gets the job done! But when it comes to your health, your relationship with your doctor, it's an intimate dynamic because it requires clarity and trust on the part of the doctor and patient. Dr. Carl is so relaxed that he puts his patients at ease immediately. He is thorough and goes through all of your blood panels with you one-on-one and makes excellent suggestions and also is complimentary if he feels that you are doing well. He will prescribe supplementation only if it is reflected as needed in your bloodwork. Personally, my blood pressure zooms up every time I go to the doctor. But with Dr. Carl, he brings it back to normal and puts me at ease. Obviously, my entire family and I are fans of WellcomeMD. I recommend Dr. Carl and Dr. Colfer to everyone I know! These businesses are popping up in big cities all over the US and is playing a new role in primary care. Basically, patients pay a yearly fee to have access to these doctors 24 hours day, 7 days a week. You get a secret after hours number that you can call on weekends to ask questions or request prescriptions. They will come visit you in the Norfolk General Hospital if you ever become an inpatient. You get at least 30 min for an appointment which you can schedule the same day. During the day, you can contact the doctor through email or phone. When you come through the door, you know you're getting quality care. The view from the top floor is breathtaking. You are immediately greeted and given a beverage. Parking is free with validation. Each doctor has their own nurse. The blood draw clinic is in the same building and they come to you. CT/MRI are nearby and the doctor gets back to you immediately! As with all doctor clinics, you have to find a doctor that matches your needs/personality. This group has several of them, each unique in their approach to patient care. I highly advise interviewing with more than one doctor before choosing one to settle on.

They told us from the beginning that they only plan to have about 200 patients each which will allow them plenty of time to look after each and every person. They offer everything that you would expect of a concierge practice. Their staff is nice and always greets you by name. They aren't as "fancy" as the one in Norfolk, but I strongly believe that they offer better care.

My…read moregrandmother, who suffers from dementia and cannot advocate for herself, has been a resident here for over two years. In just the last 3 months alone, their negligence has resulted in her being rushed to the hospital 5 separate times. The staff consistently fails to provide the most basic, life-sustaining care. She has suffered from severe, life-threatening dehydration and preventable UTIs because the staff simply will not offer her water or change her adult diapers for hours on end. There have been days she was left slumped over and unresponsive in her wheelchair all day, and the staff never even bothered to call her emergency contact. Basic hygiene, like scheduled showers and washing her hair, is ignored for weeks at a time. The turnover is incredibly high, the aides are completely overworked, and management's promises to do better are completely empty. We have officially filed complaints with the Virginia Department of Health and the State Ombudsman. Do not trust this facility with someone's life.
