a plate of sushi and sauces

I'm not going to lie this place was super questionable. It's missing a star for ambiance and service from the regular server *not the hibachi server. I came here starving with a few people. My daughter loves hibachi so this was perfect since it was so close to the house. I got dumplings and sushi rolls. Forgive me because I can't remember the names of the rolls but they were extremely good. My daughter and her friends got the kids hibachi. The chef was very funny and personable and sweet. My daughter loved him. Their food was great as well. However the drinks sat empty for a while so the service was lacking in that area. I also would've ordered another sushi roll but he never came around.

That food was delicious! There was a random rain storm that came through the area the night we went. The power in the building was out in one side but, that did not stop the amazing service and taste. We ordered a few rolls, appetizer, and drinks. Cute and quiet environment with a meal that is completely worth the price.

I came here tonight after the invitation of a customer after discussing a recommendation for sushi. His wife was ill so we picked a place near his house so I met him here. This was a quiet Monday night but nicely decorated Japanese steakhouse and sushi bar. It also happened to be all you can eat sushi for a little over $25 each which I can't really complain on. I've never been to an all-you-can-eat sushi bar that wasn't a Chinese buffet. We both ordered Tall Sapporo beers then just wrote down on a piece of paper what we liked off the menu or just what we like and our waiter just started bringing sushi. It was not crowded so the service was great, the sushi was fresh and delivered quite quickly . We had a lot of sashimi , several rainbow rolls, Nigiri, volcano roll, and I even asked them to make me a form of tuna poki which they made a good effort to do. We literally ate till we were stuffed and I have to say I was quite pleased. The staff was courteous, the owner came over to check on us a couple of times, and after reading other reviews perhaps my best tip would be going to Monday night and go early. I got there about 530 and we stayed until about 745. So for the locals since I'm from out of town, I would recommend it and again going to slower night versus a Friday night and I'm sure you will be pleased with the quality and freshness of the tuna, salmon, octopus, eel ... All of what we ate. All in all a good experience and very pleased.

We went for A family dinner. The food and service was amazing! We had steak and shrimp hibachi. Definitely recommend the sushi there, yummmmmm! Rudy was our cook and he's so fun!! We had a great time! We've been there a few times and definitely will be back :)

My favorite place to come when I'm on town. The sushi is huge. Most of the time it takes 2 rolls to fill me up but not here. My favorites are the LSU new style and the ninja.

Wonderful show at the hibachi table! Unfortunately I was only able to catch the food toss with my face and not my mouth The rest of the meal made it in my mouth by way of fork and was delicious! I won't spoil the show for everyone else, so just go and have your camera/phone on video cause it goes pretty quick!

By far some of the best hibachi I've had!! I ordered the chicken and steak lunch special! It was absolutely incredible!! Highly recommend!

We have been twice, both times at the location on Jefferson Hwy…read more I always get the ribeye because I actually like flavor. The first time my ribeye was just as good as any steak I have anywhere, maybe except for one or two other restaurants. The second time while good, not did not touch the first experience. The butter served with the steak browned, maybe too much, and overwhelmed the steak. Both time my Wife ordered the filet on both occasions. The first time the steak was pretty good but this past time it was overcooked and the char on the outside was bordering on burnt. During our most recent visit I started with the wedge and my Wife the sensation salad. My wedge was good but not in the top 3 best I have ever had. My Wife was not pleased with the sensation salad at all. The sensation was very small and not enough dressing. We also ordered the Mac & Cheese and Potatoes Au Gratin. The Mac & Cheese was very good. It taste and looked a lot better than most of the pictures posted on Yelp. The potatoes were okay, not great but not horrible. The complimentary bread was good however, not close to even being top 10. We finished our meal with the New York Cheesecake. It was okay as well, you can find just as good of cheesecake at a lot of places.

The food was first class; fresh made, great flavors and seasonings, and cooked properly. Classy decor with, white table cloth (without white paper caps), tastefully decorated, and elegant. The deserts were very good, but hard to think you can eat any more after the feeling that you want to pick the plate at the end if the dinner. BUT, the deserts vanish from the table like magic. This is a place fore special occasions and any time you want a great meal.

The first food I got was the complimentary bread. It was nicely warm and the butter was super tasty. Then for my main entree I got the 12oz filet mignon. I would say cooked it was about 7oz ish. The crust was delectable and it was super juicy and had a hint of movie theatre popcorn. That's a compliment btw. Filet - 9.1/10 For my side I got the Lobster 3 Cheese Mac. It was soooo good like top 10 mac and cheese ive had. Maybe im exaggerating but I dont eat mac and cheese too often so it was definitely a refresher. The lobster was good too but there wasnt an awful lot, so i would consider paying $8 less for just the mac. Then dessert. I got the creme brulee, it was okay. Not the best creme brulee and if I was coming looking forward to it, I wouldnt be too satisfied. It was good though dont get me wrong, just not top tier creme brulee. Id lean towards getting the other options. I also tried the Banana Foster Pudding, it was warm and sweet with hints of banana but also cold from the ice cream. Definitely better than the creme brulee, so if youre between the two id get the pudding. Last thing, If you say you're celebrating something, theyll give you a complimentary dessert. It was like a chocolate cake with ice cream and raspberries. It was good, just a basic dessert but it was free so cant complain. The service was okay, thats the low point of the review and why its a 4 star and not a 5 star. It seemed like they didnt have too many waiters, but the few they had were working hard. BONUS: Alot of people seem to complain about the wait time. Which if theyre talking about wait time with the waiter, I understand. But the wait time from ordering 4 entrees and 2 sides was 27 minutes, which isnt bad and it goes by quick. The 4 desserts took like 12-15 minutes i think. Overall, im pleased with my visit. It was a good way to fulfill my cravings that I had. Juicy steak, cheesy mac, and good dessert. Nice environment, solid service, yummy food. Overall rating probably like a 84/100. Good job Sullivan's, solid first impression. Not bad kid. Ok thats it thanks for reading this whole thing have a good day

I had been craving a good steak and they were opened on a Sunday at 3 pm. The service was just okay. We easily waited over an hour for our food, I honestly think it was a bit longer than that. This was the worst thing about the visit as well as the very expensive pricing so I will give it a 3/5 stars. When I come to a steakhouse, I expect the service to be amazing but waiting over an hour was ridiculous. There was also only one other table with people, the restaurant was empty for the most part. I loved my steak. I got the Cajun ribeye steak and as sides I got the lobster Mac and cheese and creamed spinach. The prices were very high. Just my steak was $69. Most of the sides were overpriced and the lobster Mac and cheese for $21 only had three small pieces of lobster. The creamed spinach was good. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and relaxed and very fancy. The vibe was very intimate and perfect for a celebration.

We found Parrain's Seafood while searching for authentic Louisiana food and a good po'boy/seafood…read morespot before making our drive back home to Houston. We were in Baton Rouge helping our grandson move into his dorm as an incoming freshman at LSU, and Parrain's kept coming up in our searches and reviews. We decided to give it a try, and I'm SO glad we did! We visited on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m., and when I tell you EVERYBODY and their family was there... I mean everybody! The parking lot was packed. There is plenty of parking, but there were so many people that we still had to hunt for a spot. Thankfully, we found one under a shade tree because it was HOT! When we walked up, we fully expected a long wait. There is plenty of outdoor seating for people waiting, and I also noticed they have both steps and an accessibility ramp leading to the entrance. My daughter and I sat down while my husband stood in line to put our name on the list. About five minutes later, he was waving for us to come inside! Apparently, many of the people waiting were large groups and families coming from church, but since there were only three of us, they were able to seat us almost immediately. HUGE plus! Once inside, it was BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. It took our server a little while to initially get to us, but considering how packed the restaurant was, it really wasn't bad at all. Our waitress was very nice, and I was actually impressed with how quickly our food came out. Now let's talk about the FOOD!! We first ordered the onion rings for an appetizer... super delicious I ordered the fried shrimp platter, and those shrimp were fried to PERFECTION! Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The meal also came with salad, fries, hush puppies, and a side. The hush puppies were SO GOOD! They are shaped almost like little donut holes... crispy on the outside and soft and savory on the inside. Delicious! For my side, I chose the fresh green beans instead of the dirty rice. Unfortunately, those were the one thing I didn't enjoy. They didn't have much flavor to me and seemed a little undercooked. Next time, I'll definitely choose another side. My husband ordered the fried catfish platter with dirty rice, coleslaw, and fries, and he loved everything. I tasted his coleslaw, and OH MY GOODNESS! Get the coleslaw! It was different from any coleslaw I've had before. It has whole peanuts in it, which sounds unusual, but somehow it WORKS! The peanuts add this wonderful crunch and flavor. It was SO good. And the French fries!! I've never seen fries cut this way before. They're almost shaped like little Scoop Fritos, with a crispy outside and soft potato inside. So unique and really good! My daughter ordered the catfish strips and fries from the kids' menu. These weren't processed little nuggets... they were actual pieces of catfish cut into strips, and she really enjoyed them. She also ordered the crab fingers, and those were another 10/10! They were incredibly well-seasoned with a little spice and tons of flavor. I tasted one and wanted MORE! I'm watching my sodium intake, so I behaved myself, but they were absolutely delicious. Overall, Parrain's was a 10/10 for us. The only thing I wouldn't personally order again would be the green beans. Everything else, from the shrimp and catfish to those amazing hush puppies, unique fries, crab fingers, and especially that coleslaw, was DELICIOUS. Yes, it was crowded and lively, but we still received really good service and didn't have to wait nearly as long as we expected. With our grandson now attending LSU, we'll be making plenty of trips back to Baton Rouge, and Parrain's has officially made our list of places we will be visiting again!

They are WELL known for their chargrilled oysters and have a great happy hour. Their Andouille Crusted Fresh Fish is one of the best bites in Baton Rouge hands down. Their parking lot situation is a mess; WAY too small, and the entrance is close to another business' entrance which can be confusing. Great service, little loud though. It's a small complaint, but restaurants that let used drink glasses pile up on the table is a little annoying.
