My ordered arrived incomplete from Uber Eats. I ordered shrimp and vegetables and received only 7pcs of shrimp in a styrofoam container. Nothing else. Called the store and was told on "their end" they could only see "shrimp" . However on my end it clearly states "shrimp and vegetables". I took a photo. The manager Jane suggested we bring the item back and they exchange for the correct item. WHY, WHYY would you suggest this as a MANAGER if I had the food DELIVERED?! I even offered to get a credit (of the unused portion) for future purchase if I decided to eat there again and was told No. I mentioned clearly there is a problem with their system in correlation with Uber Eats. All I received was attitude for response. Jane is racist, this is not the initial despicable encounter I have had with her. I stopped frequenting solely because of her poor hospitality and attitude towards paying customers. How she still has a manager position there after all these years I cannot fathom. We tried thrips place for late lunch on Saturday. It was between lunch and dinner so no one was inside. We did order a box set and was pleasantly surprised. Fried rice and steak was really good. Tempura was on the heavier side. Sushi were small but pretty tasty. Plenty of parking and room inside (as I mentioned it was in between time). Not bad, but I would not go here just for sushi but also Hibachi or teppan yaki, which seemed pretty good too. If I could give this a zero I would! The rice and sushi were good but the teriyaki steak, was pink in the middle but still crazy dry. The kicker is that the manager was extremely rude when we expressed our opinion. We didn't want the entire entree to be removed just a discount on the frozen dry steak and she indicated that since we had eaten 3 pieces out of 6 then we were making inaccurate claims on extremely expensive a steak. The LSU roll here is the best sushi for any newcomer before delving into the raw stuff. If you are cautious of COVID-19, I advise you to not eat here. I stopped by on a Sunday evening to make a to-go order and I was so shocked at how almost every COVID health guideline was violated. It was busy and packed, no social distancing. No masks (although I did see 2 people wear masks). Waiters, waitresses, hostesses, customers are not wearing masks. Yes they have a "Thank you for wearing your mask" sign on the front door but it wasn't enforced. I felt extremely uncomfortable and I'm not even sure if I want to eat my food. Second time here with the family. Since boyfee and I are Visiting from California! I must say this place is really yummy! I tried the black dragon roll: tempura shrimp, eel, avocado. And your usual fillers I also had the SHRIMP SHUMAI, came with a ponzu sauce for dipping and displayed on top of shredded iceberg. Boyfee had his beef chowmein: noodles were cooked well and the steak was so tender. Super yummy! Of course we also had the LSU roll.. personally this time around, it wasn't in my taste pallet anymore, I'm honestly not a fan of the fake crab. Like I said it's just a filler. GREEN TEA: omg was it so delicious and made well, with brown rice and actual steeped leaves. Super authentic and I definitely appreciate a nice cup of tea. Most sushi spots half ass they're green tea with your basic tea bags. So 5 Stars for they're authentic Green Tea. Service: well it was her 2nd day. In fact, one guy in our group originally from California said it was some of the best sushi he's ever had. Yes: it's that good. The quality is supreme and the fish is always fresh and delicious. Each time service was friendly and servers knowledgable. They also have happy hour for drinks and appetizers which is nice. Every appetizer we tried was quite tasty--I especially recommend the yakitori. But the best thing Hello Tokyo offers are their hand rolls. They are simply palatable. We have gone to Hello Tokyo so so many times. At least once a month, sometimes more. My kids love hibachi and sushi and it is the closest place to home with good food. The service there used to be top notch along with the food. The owner, I'm assuming was the owner, (now not sure) was always there and the place was ran excellent. We have noticed a new woman is there every time we go now and you don't see her come out often. The food is still great but the service is horrible. And progressively getting worse. I took two of my kids for hibachi yesterday and the waitress took a while to come to greet us. No big deal, even tho the place was practically empty. Ok, so then she comes back brings drinks, takes orders and cokes again to give the sushi and salads. After that we only saw her from a distance, on her phone or talking to coworkers. We had to ask the chef to get her for a drink refill. Then when we were done we had to go find her for boxes and the check. We were not in a rush but the waiting was that long that we had to actually get up and ask. Employers should hold employees to their responsibilities while at work. The customers should not have to be looking for their waitress or waiter. We were the only hibachi table. And there were three small tables in the sushi area. There was a waitress and a waiter. No excuses. This is only one experience, it's been the last several times we have gone that we had bad service. It's a shame because the place was always ran so great before. I'm from Virginia and there is a place there that is my absolute favorite hibachi place. So I'm always on the hunt for a place as good as that. I haven't quite found it but Hello Tokyo meets my high hibachi standards. I will say, I go with what I know and order the same thing every time. I don't like seafood or sushi so please know that my review is of the steak and chicken hibachi and it is good, really good. Not Kanpai in Virginia. But really good. Definitely worth trying if you're in Gonzales. I also prefer this location over the one closer to Prairieville. The customer service is above average and the restaurant is clean. I also like that you have the option of sitting and watching the hibachi chefs or you can sit at normal tables on the other side. There's a bar too. Lots of seating options which is a plus. It's also fun and convenient to walk next door and look around in Hibbett sport on date night. read more
