Wow... this place has decreased extremely in quality. My previous review was from right when it opened. This week I got chirashi and two rolls. I threw away most of the $15 chirashi bowl because I was afraid of food poisoning. The only edible thing on it was salmon and mediocre (old tasting) rice. The tuna and whitefish and yellowtail(?) were old, fishy tasting, and gristly. The roll filling was ok but still the rice was old and it was patchy, you can see the seaweed through the rice as it's not fully coated in places. The miso soup was bland. Even the soy sauce packets were disgusting and tasted off. The only good thing was the avocado mango roll when i doused it in walmart soy sauce from my fridge. read more

Sushi Village is the cutest little sushi restaurant. It definitely seems family run and that just makes me want to support them even more, since the service is always so sweet. They have some amazing sushi deals. You can get 3 basic sushi rolls for $12.99, or 2 basic rolls for $9.99. My personal favorites are the sushi or sashimi deals. These all come with miso soup and a salad. I always have leftovers. Their sushi tastes pretty fresh, especially for the price you pay, and they don't skimp on the fish! I usually refuse to eat a piece of sushi in more than 1 bite, but the cuts are so big that I have to eat it in 2 bites. Overall, great service, decent sushi, and amazing prices. COVID-19 Waitr Review: I've heard great things about this place, but I honestly had a pretty terrible experience. I ordered two Hibachi dinners through Waitr, but they still got the order wrong. We ordered salads, but instead received Miso soup. The hibachi the blandest that I have ever had. There was just no flavor. We ordered snow crab salad, but it was drowning in mayonnaise, and the crab tasted very strange. I was okay with them using artificial crab meat, but it may have been spoiled. It was not cold like I would have anticipated. Not good. We also ordered some dumplings, but they too were underwhelming. They had a white stuffing that didn't resemble meat at all. I have written reviews for Sushi Village before and for some reason, it's been removed (?). Sushi Village is a family run sushi place that as many family run places are a bit lackluster in its appeal and ambiance. If you're looking for a stellar dining experience, this may not be the place for you. The odd thing that I find appealing about this place is the family that runs it. The young lady at the front has an iron clad memory who will remember everything you've ever ordered and if you're a regular can recite what you might be ordering again. The husband is in the back making all the food while the mom tends to customers with her daughter. The misses can be very talkative and will chat with you about everything. Their two younger children boy and girl can often be found sitting at the sushi bar doing their homework or watching TV. Which is a bit of a downside as the sushi bar is usually where I like to sit. I think most of their business is carry-out or dine-in table dining. The menu is economically priced. Very affordable selections from sushi, sashimi, rolls, and full plate dishes. I've had everything on this menu as I've been here many times with my family. All of it is very good. Best of all it won't break your pocketbook. We originally came here because of a Groupon deal we found but kept coming back as we liked what we had gotten here so many times before. My wife always gets a seaweed salad which is always very delectable. My son gets the Chicken Teriyaki and I almost always get soup and either a noodle dish, yakitori, a sushi roll or a sashimi plate. The ambiance is a bit lacking, there is no music, and it's dead quiet, so bring your conversation or a book to read. I was looking to try another sushi place that was near my work. I found sushi village to be right down the road. Their menu had a lunch special to get 2 rolls and soup or salad for 7.99, so I went with it, and took it back to work. I chose the spicy tuna roll; unfortunately it wasn't very spicy and the flavor of the tuna was covered up by these tempura crispies that were rolled up with it. I also chose the phillidelphia roll since that was what I was craving. It had this wierd flavor, like maybe the fish or thr cream cheese was placed near onions and the oils were absorbed. Dissapointed that it was somewhat of a miss. Their menu is filled with regular and special sushi choices, so maybe after some time I'll try the lunch special again. I find myself craving sushi and gyoza on an almost daily basis. I like boiled shrimp in a sushi roll, instead of raw fish - and alot of places do not offer this. I have narrowed down the options of places that I can go and sushi village is one of them. It's a pretty far drive for me when I am by myself (hello driving anxiety) so I order alot of postmates. I've gotten sushi village delivered quite a few times lately and they have not disappointed. They're pretty consistent, besides 1 time having shrimp peels in the roll. The gyoza is one of my favorites! Perfectly soft cooked with 1 amazing crunchy tasty pan seared side my main reason for not giving 5 stars is that their seaweed tends to be a little chewy. It may get that way on its trip to my house from the restaurant but I have not experienced this anywhere else. Unimpressed. Just came back from my first visit to Sushi Village. On a positive note, I will say that the shrimp tempura and the Hawaii Roll were delicious (they were what my wife ordered). Since I have a large appetite, I opted for the AYCE menu. Strangely the waiter never mentioned it, and only brought the AYCE menu to me after I asked. I am a regular at Sushi Masa on Essen, and I felt that the offerings at Sushi Village were inferior. The sashimi I ordered was mushy and not fresh, and the rolls were OK, but nothing special. This is probably my new favorite all-you-can-eat sushi place! I'm always skeptical about these types of places because the quality of fish is usually below average and the service is typically poor. But that isn't the case for this place. The service was welcoming and everyone had a great attitude from beginning to the end of service. As for the food, the earthy mushroom soup and spicy seaweed salad as an appetizer was a great start to an even better selection of fish. Their albacore and salmon sashimi was so SO fresh and creamy. The clam sashimi was sweet and had a decent consistency. I'm not a huge fan of rolls but my boyfriend wanted to get some. We got the Kuchi Roll and a soft shell crab roll. The flavors were good but there needs to be a little bit more soft shell crab in it. My boyfriend didn't even know it was in there. For dessert, the fried bananas with honey were so cute and delicious, and red bean ice cream usually never disappoints me. Overall this meal was greaaaat!
