Nagoya has good food, friendly service, and is a clean restaurant. I don't go here often and every time I do I always question why that is. The food is always fresh and always so yummy. I also really enjoy that their To-Go food always matches my expectations as if I had gone in and sat down to eat instead of taking it home. The sushi is always fresh and made to order but my favorite thing is their hibachi. I love the sauce they cook their meat in and they crunch of all the veggies is TO DIE FOR!!!! I've gotten just veggie hibachi and it DOESN'T disappoint! If you are near this place and want an easy To-Go experience this is your place. Upon arrival I didn't see anyone at the host area so I went into the dining area and then I saw the hostess slash waitress she then greeted me and sat me at a table and brought me a menu shortly after seating me. I ordered the Golden Spider which was supposed to be a deep fried whole Softshell crab but when they actually served it it a one pincher claw and 3 feelers arranged on a plate but NO CRAB BODY What the hell $8.95 for nothing but 1 way over cooked crab pincher claw & 3 little feeler legs. Honestly I still can't believe that any business would try to be fraudulent as to charge $8.95 and try to pass that off as a whole Softshell crab. Needless to say when the waitress came back to my table which wasn't until she brought my entree a Teriyaki steak bento box which actually tasted good. I told her to take the golden spider back to the chef and take it off my ticket and that it was only 1 pincher claw and 3 feeler legs and had no body and I told her I was sorry. Wife wanted a small portion so she ordered a kids plate which was $11.95 but was told she couldn't because she was obviously not a kid. So she opted for the much cheaper (bland) cup of soup and house salad. Total $7.45. First rule of thumb, serve the customer what they want and age shouldn't be a factor. I really enjoyed this place. It's small and tucked away in a shopping center by any seem like much from the outside but I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I came with my parents and we got a booth, but I really want to come back and sit at the bar. Very cool artwork throughout the restaurant. The miso soup was very good. Then the 3 of us split the $35 special, 3 regular rolls, 2 special (comes with edamame.) It was plenty of food and we enjoyed everything. I think 4 moderately hungry people could easily share. I enjoyed this out of the way restaurant located in a strip mall in Central. Customers were friendly and the waitress was new. Seemed busy enough and had several loyal repeat customers. Food is great, service can be great, or not. We love takeout and I usually call in with no problems. A recent visit where we intended to dine in was cut short after we walked out after standing at the hostess station for 10 minutes and seeing no employees. Maybe a bell to ring or something would be beneficial. Food is always great, the 911 appetizer and the LSU are tops of my list. Free edemame on Friday nights with an entree. We went early for dinner so there was barely anyone in the restaurant. We chose to do hibachi and were the only two at the grill. The cook put on a good show for us and was pretty funny guy. I have had good raw tuna... I found the tuna lover to be mediocre... Higher grade was very good though. The spicy tuna roll was ok as well... Nothing to brag about ... Service was slow and we was 1 of 2 couples here... I think I'll try it again another time ... Update: Came back to give it another shot .... Upgraded to 4 stars... Had the blackened tuna... I am a former employee. The sushi is pretty good and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant and kitchen are both exceptionally clean. The Chef's rolls are great (Tiger roll is my favorite). However, there are problems with the management. I quit working there because the OWNER was taking half of my tips. Owners are not allowed in a tip pool. Unbelievable. If you dine in on a Friday night you'll notice the staff running around like chickens with their heads cut off. This is because there are no sections. The only thing I didn't like is how the hostess seemed more friendly with the customer who came after I did than she was to me. She was somewhat cold towards me. OK, So The First couple of times were Eh. Okay. But the Biggest Issue has become the inconsistency in the food. 1 day you go in sushi is made one way the next another. Then their service has become lackluster! Tonight my wife and myself while eating dinner(food wasn't even to the table yet) asked for refills on our drinks . the server took them to refill. She didn't bring them back till we asked for them When the food was brought to the table. The sushi comes out little by little and not in one big order. I'm not sure if this location is related to the 2 Nagoya locations in Baton Rouge. If it is, I'm quite disappointed. If not, that would explain a lot. Obviously Central doesn't have many choices for sushi - it's pretty much either this or the slop on Central buffet. Unfortunately, Central buffet may actually be better. We went here the other day after a very, very, VERY heavy night of drinking. I've found that bento boxes are pretty much a magical cure for hangovers. I ordered the teriyaki chicken bento, I think it was around $9 or 10. Either way, very much on the high end for a bento. My friends got a few sushi rolls. The wait was so long that we drank a few beers in the parking lot before the food was ready. The miso soup was terrible. There wasn't enough miso in it and the tofu was practically minced it was cut so small. I was not impressed. It was like a bowl of chunky dishwater. The to-go box for the bento was kinda neat, with individual slots for all the different items. The teriyaki chicken tasted like someone had dumped a whole cup of sugar on it - way too damn sweet. Overall it wasn't the worst food I've ever had, but for $10 I could've gotten a much nicer meal somewhere else. If this place doesn't shape up quick, I think Central will quickly be back to 0 sushi restaurants. read more
