The technician was did a nice job for a pedicure, but I won't return. I felt like I was in a slow motion movie. It was $24

I tried this salon because it's on the way home from work. I was a walk in. They indicated 30 minute wait which was acceptable to me. It was 50 minutes. I felt like I was in a slow motion movie. I didn't feel overly welcome. The technician was good. I wouldn't return just for the overall slowness of all the technicians and the vibe I got that they didn't really want more customers. It was 2 hours until closing, so not sure why they were so non-eager for customers. 3 people after me waited 5 minutes and left after being told it would be 40 minutes. I think they could tell they were moving in slow motion.

Love Patty!! She's my girl! Always does an awesome job!

Little did I know that Royal-Reed was literally located minutes away from my office! Nestled in St. Ann. The website to book your appointment was simplistic enough to follow. When I had a question, I was able to speak with someone immediately, who was friendly and kind on the other end. When I arrived, I was immediately taken up for my appointment - by chance, not by the person I originally booked with, but the owner instead. Mrs. Reed was so sweet. A wonderful conversationalist and entrepreneur. She informed me that her business was approaching their 5th year soon and described to me her vision for the future to help educate others in the profession. She was also able to explain to me of how to better care for my nail care concerns. When I got my pedicure however, I was placed with Dawn who is an up and coming artist. Baby...when I tell you she put work in on my feet, she put some work in. THE BEST PEDICURE I HAVE EVER HAD!! My feet were so smooth leaving the salon. Mind you, my appointment was on December 28th and the heels of my feet are STILL smooth (it's January 10th). Overall, the salon itself was nice and carried great energy. Mrs. Reed prides herself on practicing safe care for the clients staff and her artists. Royal-Reed has definitely found a client in me.

She knew she had an appointment at 1. My appointment was at 10. Charms fell off the day after. They're chunky and uneven and just not cute. I asked her if she could fix them and she banned me from making appointments! I think the…read moreway the person is greeted upon walking in to an establishment should tell you everything you need to know. Case in point is when I made an appt and walk in only for these two young girls, whom I'm guessing are in high school, sitting down to the side of the front desk to greet me. Odd? Yes, because why aren't you actually at the front? I told them my name and the service I was here for. Out of nowhere this girl comes and asks me what I'm getting. I show her the design and she said I can go with her. We walk to her station, which reminded me of cubicles because they're all right next to each other. She starts taking off the nail polish and I noticed there's a sign on each desk asking to inquire of prices before services. I asked her how much it would be and she looked puzzled. Then she went to one of the other workers and asked him. She came back and told me $70. I was shocked! $70 for a fill-in? No ma'am! Initially I told her yes, but when I asked her to trim them down only a little (still wanted to keep the l shape but only make it a little shorter) she ended up doing way more and at that point I knew the design wouldn't look the same. I lost interest immediately and went back to browsing on my phone only to have her cut my cuticles on two different nails. It felt like they were on fire! At this point I'm livid, in pain, and couldn't wait to get out of there fast enough. When it came time to paint I told her to just give me a solid pink. She looked confused and I reiterated only a solid color. She then said ok, $45. You're joking, right? $45 dollars for a basic, and I do mean basic pink color with no lines, designs, nothing? It's egregious and down right laughable. I was so relieved when she finished and couldn't wait to get out of there. Overall, this visit reminded me of how someone goes into a barber shop and there's one barber who's dying for a client, but no one wants to sit in his chair. Perhaps it could have been different if I had another technician but the fact is, I didn't, she couldn't really communicate, I wasn't offered anything to drink and she cut my nails so short, I couldn't even do the design, and was grossly overcharged. Thank you, next....

I've stayed quiet before, but not this time. I went to K…read moreNails for a basic gel pedicure and a fill-in and somehow ended up paying $106. Before anyone says, "Well, that's normal," let me be very clear: I asked questions. When the nail tech asked if I wanted my nails cut, I specifically asked if there would be an extra charge. She told me no. So imagine my surprise when I get the bill and it's somehow over a hundred dollars. When I asked where all these charges came from, that's when the confusion started. One tech started talking to the other, and suddenly I'm being told I was charged for "going around my nails," cutting my nails, and other things that were never explained beforehand. I still don't know what "going around my nails" is supposed to mean, and quite frankly, neither explanation made any sense. It felt like they were scrambling to justify a bill that should never have been that high in the first place. What makes this sting even more is that I've been coming here for years. This isn't some random salon I tried once. My son and I used to come here together whenever he was home from college. They knew us. After my son was murdered, they acted like they cared. They offered sympathy. They know this isn't something I "went through" and got over--it's something I have to live with every single day for the rest of my life. They know how profoundly that loss changed my life, and they know I'm on disability because of it. That's why this experience hit differently. You expect this kind of treatment from a place that doesn't know you. You don't expect it from people who have looked you in the face for years, know your story, and then have no problem handing you a bill full of questionable charges that were never discussed until after the money was already gone. And let's be honest about the service itself: it wasn't worth $106. Not even close. Everything felt rushed. There was nothing exceptional about the experience, nothing luxurious, nothing that justified that price tag. The biggest issue isn't even the amount. It's the principle. If you're going to charge people for something, tell them BEFORE you do it. Don't wait until checkout and then start throwing out explanations that sound like they were created on the spot. I walked out feeling completely taken advantage of and wondering how many other customers have left there questioning their bill. At this point, I don't trust them, and once trust is gone, there's nothing left. K Nails can consider that $106 a farewell gift because they'll never get another penny from me. If you go here, ask the price of every single thing they touch, trim, file, clip, shape, or "go around" before they do it. Otherwise, don't be surprised when your total ends up looking nothing like what you expected.
