I came across this place with some decent reviews knowing that the atmosphere was not going to be swanky but when I walked in I was surprised at how dirty and out dated it was. The Decore wasn't the only thing lacking. They had almost no nail color selection and nothing that was painted for you just bottles that you could look at they would suggest and grab a few and you could pick from. Rose is the best! I mean, this nail salon is not much to look at, but Rose is the friendliest, best at what she does. I relocated from the Bay Area to Roseville and I don't mind driving to get my nails done by her! Cheaper than the rest but her work is clean and excellent. I promise you, you won't get disappointed. I've been to nail salons that have fancy pedi spas and stuff and charges $60-75 for mani/pedi, but Rose's work IS NOTHING compared to them. I also find her work to last longer than the rest. After every work she's done for me, I don't get that feeling of being robbed after a mani/pedi unlike what I usually feel when I visit other salons. read more

I think the girls here never took a class on hygiene and sanitation. They never clean and disinfect the tubs for pedicure or dust and wipe the mani stations. Forget about asking for clean clippers and cuticle trimmers. When I ask for a clean tub, they use some of the handsoap and scrub the tub using the same scrubber used for pedicure!!! They know how to do mani/pedi well but the language barrier makes it difficult to explain to them that by law they are supposed to clean and disinfect tubs between customers.I don't go there anymore. Who wants fungus and Bacterial infections and pay to get it ? Where is the state inspectors when we need one? I don't want them to lose business but I want them to protect their customer's health. read more

Very nice, sweet ladies. They are detailed in their work and aim to make you happy. Got French shellac mani and French pedi for $50! Love the look of the nails. The place is older and not super fancy but you can't beat the good work and price. They can get busy so you might want to call to check availability and give them a heads up. Came here on a Sunday afternoon after making an appointment. Warning! Please make an appointment or you might not get in especially on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. They are usually booked so make sure you have an appointment or they may have to send you away. Prices at this location are reasonable. For a pedicure it is $18 dollars and $2 for a flower design. For a glitter tip nails it is $30 and $23 for a refill. Rose did my nails and Helen did my pedicure. Great ladies. I will be going back. =D ! read more

Love me some Nail Genie. I have been going to this place since 1991 when it was Exquisite nails and Theresa used to do my nails. Then several others took over and finally Lisa bought the place. Lisa didn't nails for a few years until Rose came to the picture. Rose has been doing my nails for about 5 years now. I just love her. She does the best job for a very decent price. I would not even think of going anywhere else even though I live in Castro Valley and it's quite a drive. Helen does my pedis and shes awesome. She takes her time and always has a smile on her face. This place is pretty cheap for getting any beauty services including: waxing, nails, manicure, pedicure. It is right next to a foot reflexology spot that is pretty cheap with service charges as well. I always get my nails and eye brows done by Rose. She is really nice and takes her time even though she has another customer waiting. She does my eyebrows and takes her time and double checks if it's the shape for my brow I wanted. Although, she doesn't lay me flat but just places me on a chair and takes her time. read more

I went here on a Saturday evening to get gel nails and a polish change on my toes. They were very quick to start on me, so quick in fact I didn't even have time to look through all the colors that they had available, and find a matching color for my toes. Once I picked out my gel color and went to match, the lady rushed over selected a color that she said would match, then directed me towards the chair. Fast forward, the nail color is not evenly painted on my nail- some places are thin and others aren't. Once I pointed this out to her, she says "Oh, I see, you want another layer to be thicker". My toes are not painted evenly either- you can see where she did the 1st coat, then missed it when she did the 2nd, so it looks layered. Overall, nails and toes are sloppy! Oh and the matching color she was rushing me to pick....OF COURSE IT DOESNT MATCH(which I get isn't a big deal, but I would've just taken the time to match it to begin with). And because I made myself very clear that I wanted the same color, and she noticed it wasn't, she then tried to say "Little lighter, but toes should be darker"- but I DON'T WANT THAT! I'm not one to complain or give people a hard time, I just make a note of it, and don't return. Its now Wednesday, as of yesterday my nails have started peeling and cracking. It Usually takes about 10 days for my nails to start looking terrible, and it looks like I got my nails done 2 weeks ago. read more

Good nail salon but there are definitely better ones in the area. Prefer Exotic nails and spa more. In here the ladies are too much in a hurry to finish each service and keep yapping in their mother tongue which is annoying. Prices are fairly reasonable than the other salons in the Bay Area. I went here last Friday for a mani/pedi. &for $30, it wasn't even worth it. the lady who worked on me kept skipping some of my nails when she would buff it, or put some liquid stuff on it. the barely massage your hand. &don't even massage/rub your legs or feet like other places do. for pedis, they don't put that extra hot towel on your legs. as far as the painting goes? she didn't cover the whole nail. sigh. don't go here. really. read more

I came here before looking this place up on Yelp because I live right down the street- I came in around 630 when they closed at 7. The lady who greeted me was really nice and asked me if I could wait a few minutes for a nail technician. I took a seat and decided to pull up their Yelp paged. To be honest, I was horrified at some of the reviews on here but as soon as I was considering walking out a lady came over to me and said she was ready. I walked over with hesitation and figured no one else would take me at this time at another nail salon, (I needed my nails done for the next morning) so I sucked it up and sat down. I made sure they sanitized everything in front of me and the woman was nice about that, no complaints and we were able to make small talk that didn't seem forced. As far as my nails go, after reading some of the reviews about them not being able to do a simple French tip, I went out on a huuuuge whim by asking her for shorter stilettos. I'm in LOVE with my nails. I must have been really lucky getting the woman I got (forgot to ask her name, but will update my review when I go back). I can't speak for the entire salon, but the 4 stars is for the amazing work with my nails. I will definitely be returning to see her again! read more

Nail Genie was close to where I am living so I decided to give it a try. They take their time so make sure to allow a couple hours if your getting both hands and feet done. But I love them! This place was pleasant but, for nail tech to be seasoned and not remove cracked nail but layer more gel on top is unacceptable. 5 days later nail broke and Rose would not accommodate me for a quick 15 minute fix. Also, explained that the primer can't touch my skin and she totally ignored my request to be careful because I'm allergic to primer liquid. Such a waste of time and money.. read more

I am sooooo glad someone suggested this place to me. I Came here 3 weeks ago, and my nails ARE STILL LASTING. I only payed $23 for a gel manicure!!!!! My nails normally break within a week. They were great. The lady that did my nails was very nice, she was talking to me the whole time. While she was doing my nails she was suggesting many different colors to me that would match the color I wanted. I wanted a specific design and when she put it on, we both looked like "ehhhh" and she offered to change it. She was not going to let me go out with my nails looking bad. She kept asking me if everything was okay with the shape and color. She was just great in general. They took care of me and made sure I was satisfied. They just looked at me "can you come back later" I expressed that I couldn't and they literally shrugged their shoulders and silence...no eye contact...no sorry we can fit you in 15 minutes...nothing. I've been coming here for Helen to do my pedicures, she has always been taking great care of my nails for years and she is also friendly. I like it because she gives great scrubs. I have been to many upscale spas n also including the ones on Groupons, these places don't cut great cuticles. Rose, she is the best with gel and acrylic nails. This place is to say the least DISGUSTING!!! I dont even know how they pass their inspections. They do not sanitize any of their tools, and you can see that just by sitting there while they exchange sponges, and clippers from one person to the next. Not only are the tools not cleaned, but the foot spa is also not disinfected as much as their chart says. When they do decide to clean the spas they use the same sponge they use on your feet with normal hand soap??!!!!?!?! Oh and best of all while you sit and wait until your nails are dry you start to notice the skins and nails completely covering the carpet. The only good thing I could say about this place is that its definitely CHEAP, just be ready to walk out with some kind of foot or hand fungus! read more

I went here once a few years ago for a pedicure and the nail tech was shoving her tools in my foot so hard I could barely stand the pain. I finally told her to stop. Sure enough the next day my toe started swelling, and I wound up with a huge infection in my big toe. It was so bad, I had to go to the doctor and get it treated. So not only did my pedicure look like crap the next day (infected toe and all). And I had to pay $70 for my doctors visit, I will never go back here. They are obviously unsanitary. read more

I called ahead of time to see if they had time for a manicure and pedicure. I was told they closed at 7 but to go in at 6:45. I got there at 6:45 and they had just sat 3 people, so if I was told I would be helped at 6:45 why did I have to wait 30 min to finally get my pedicure done. I then was finally getting my manicure witch she said extremely fast, she then put on the gel polish and I was on the light for like 15 min because she was eating. I totally understand your tired and hungry but why are you going to agree to take me in. After I was done drying she didn't even clean the edges, I got white nail polish so you can only imagine I have white spots everywhere and she didn't apply the nail polish right. I will never go back, and just to add the place was a mess they had nail polish all over the place and they were all dirty maybe that's why they couldn't find the colors I had requested.
