We walked in for two pedicures and was able to be serviced right away. I agree with another customer about the hygiene of their tools as they are sitting under a UV light and not fresh out a pack (maybe that's a Cali thing?) We didn't get any infections though, haha, so that's a good sign. The attention to detail is top notch! I really appreciated it, especially since I'm so meticulous myself. After being a loyal customer for YEARS, literally years, today was the last straw! It's only 2 nail techs I valued service from which are Tina & Ana. Ana used to be my preferred primary tech before Tina but I would still alternate between the two (still to this day). I went in today thinking I will get serviced but instead was basically denied service. Instead of being truthful, Ana had the owner Lee, lie to my face saying she had other people when nobody else was sitting in the waiting area. When I asked who else she had his reply was "Oh I don't know" and she doesn't even take appointments. I told him if she simply does not want to service me then she can just say that & his reply was "Oh I guess so, I can do your nails. I use to always do your nails" - LIES. I came here based on good reviews, however I would NOT recommend this salon to anyone with even average standards for their nail care. The technician attempted to pry off my old dip polish with force, even after I insisted this was causing a lot of pain and I prefer soak off. She came to one nail that would not pry off, and instead of filing and soaking she proceeded to tear off the layers of my finger nail. This was extremely painful and my entire nail proceeded to bleed profusely. She ignored the bleeding and acted like nothing happened. I insisted she soak off my remaining nails and let me leave. The tech did not even apologize. She hastily removed my remaining polish and left my nails looking terrible. Additionally, I noticed that they do not properly sanitize their instruments (they have them in foil under a blue light (??) , but no autoclave) and their practices in general are not sanitary. I left this salon and went straight to another for a proper basic manicure, and even still it will be several weeks before I can have dip polish reapplied. Just to be clear, I look at mani/pedis as necessary evils. I dislike having to take the time out of my day to get them done and in New Orleans, that always means for me having to go to one of the places I like Uptown, which is too much of a trek (crossing Canal. Dealing with traffic and road blocks and schools letting out) and even more time out of the day. I'm limited on time, can you tell? Cue the stress. Is it really worth it? All I need do is look at my hands and feet. Sigh. Don't tell me to just relax and enjoy it! I don't relax because I'm too busy being neurotic about someone touching my feet and kneading them to the point of serious foot cramps if I don't catch them in time. And after paying all that $ for manis/pedis, I inevitably wreck the polish because I can't take the damn time to just sit without touching my phone, moving, etc. I am the WORST customer. But yesterday, I was kind of the best customer at Nail Spa 27! I've found my quick and easy, no hassles salon, friends. First good sign: easy parking right out front. Second, a mostly empty salon around noon on a weekday, so no wait! Third, a friendly greeting right when I walked in. Fourth, a wall of cool colors. And... best of all??? They did my hands and feet at the same time! And it was so fast, I had time to sit there and wait for that shit to dry! They have gel, but I've sworn off gel b/c it truly was destroying my nails (naturally I cannot resist peeling that stuff off). The salon is not much to look at and I really don't care because efficiency and speed are all I care about when having to endure mani/pedis. Both nail techs were nice, didn't try to torture me with massage, and when I asked for a second coat on my hands, it was not big deal. Again, it was such a quick, thorough job, I couldn't stop thinking that I'm now going to be a 2X a month regular! And the price is right. I am a regular customer here and I am always very happy with my service . The staff are all very nice. I see Van and she does a fantastic job with my pedicures and manicures. I get the gel manicure and it typically holds up for two weeks very nicely. I really like the nail art designs, but with layering gel polishes you run the risk of cracking . Van has created some really cute polka dots using the gel the last two times I have been in and both times they have lasted the full two weeks with no cracks ( pictures just posted) . She is really creative and comes up with great designs, but if you have an idea in mind, just bring in a picture and she will work with you to recreate it. It can get very busy in the evenings after work so I would recommend booking an appointment if that's the time you need to go. I learned this after a couple fails at walking in :/! Parking is behind the building which is convenient given its right off Canal. Use debit, not credit and they wave the 50 cent charge for the transaction. read more

I will never go back to them. The lady owner charged me $5 extra for taking off me old set that was already coming off and she used a fake nail and tore off my old set which damaged my nail bed. My fingers are so sensitive, weak, and sore. I can't wash dishes or make hands because of the pain. They put basic nail polish on my toes and I always get my nails short because I have to type for work and my hands are kind of small and all I got was white powder acrylic square shape. Basically I was over charge for this basic mani and pedi. This would have been $70-$80 somewhere else. Did I miss something here? I don't get what all the fuss is about because in the two times I've had treatments they've always been late and rushed. I made an appointment, arrived 10 mins early, and was seen 25 minutes late. My pedi was subpar and my nails weren't cut evenly (how does that even happen?). I didn't get a bottom or top coat. The time before, I had a manicure that was equally late and disappointing; the polish was piled on thick and ended up lifting off (also no bottom coat). You definitely pay for what you get and even though I think this place isn't THAT cheap it feels like a $10 mani/pedi. This is where I get my nails done. Period. I come regularly for manicure appointments with Van, who incidentally, also does an excellent job waxing one's eyebrows. No uneven or surprised face from her. I find that my polish lasts up to a week and I usually take it off because of the grow-out gap. They use high quality basecoat (Orly Rubber) and their polishes are all OPI, China Glaze, and Essie. I'm not a fan of gel polishes in general, but in the past I have gotten them done here and when it chipped/peeled before the guaranteed 2 weeks, they invited me back to have it fixed for free. I always ask for my cuticles to be pushed back and not cut, and I have had far fewer hangnails then before. They will actually listen to your requests, even to what TV channel to put on while your nails dry. As mentioned elsewhere, what I like best is how clean and hygienic the entire shop is. I don't feel nervous about getting an infection at all. Every piece of equipment is put in one of those UV-ray toasters that kills germs, and after pedicures, the tubs are immediately scrubbed out. I have never gotten my hair done here, but they offer cuts and styling for both men and women. Don't forget to get a stamp card! 10 services and then you get one free. She'll even keep it for you in her desk if you go regularly. read more

Sometimes, usually in the middle of the work week, I want some pampering. But not the kind of pampering that requires a minimum investment of $70 and two hours and the donning of a spa bathrobe. Well, when I want the perfect combination of efficiency and luxury, I go to Nail Spa 27. This place is minutes away from my Mid-City office. The manicures \cost $14 ($12 on Tuesday) and the experience is perfectly soothing. There's a little hand massage thrown in there. The real luxury is paying someone else to do something you could easily do yourself. They also have a bunch of other services. Like, they'll apply your false eyelashes for you for $5. It's $10 if you need to buy eyelashes. And they supply some sort of industrial strength glue that's stronger than the glue mere mortals use, so those falsies will bat for days. Also. I went in a week ago for a regular mani and I as I type this, my polish is still going strong. I will be back. They have my frequent buyer punch card behind the desk. read more

Took advantage of the Tuesday special and got a gel manicure and a spa pedicure for 47$ I got what I paid for- an okay service. Great massage chair- mediocre nails The ladies were super aggressive with the cuticle nippers and made me bleed in several areas. At least the place was super clean and all the implements were very clearly sterile. An okay but limited palate of gel colors. My gels were sloppy and took a long time because she kept having to fix her work. My biggest problem though was that she cut my nails way too short didn't wrap the shellac under the tips- so ONE day in, the gel is already wearing thin.
