I needed to find a nail salon where i could become a regular, for both manicures and pedicures. I no longer want to handle these tasks on my own. I had initially been referred to Bliss Nails on Fletcher Parkway at Jackson Drive. However, when I went there on a Tuesday with a 2:00 pm appointment, it was jammed and the sour man at the door did not make a good impression. Accordingly, I walked out on that day. That brings me to the Nail Studio of San Carlos. It is located directly next to a Starbucks Coffee House I like to visit. One day as I was leaving Starbucks, I looked up and noticed the nail Studio San Carlos. I had a walk in pedicure and everything was perfect. I have since become a regular at the Nail Studio of San Carlos. My technician is Wendy ("Hang") and she is wonderful. Very efficient, and she does a perfect job on both my manicures and pedicures. In addition, Kevin, at the door on the weekends, offers a very gracious welcome. Hands down, this is the best salon in San Diego because Nina is here! I'm so glad she's back in the neighborhood. My nails have needed her badly! She knows exactly how I like it. And my nails last so long with her work. And Minh works here, too. She also used to do my nails for years. As I write, my leg/foot is resting on a little fold out pedestal. Omgosh, it's ingenious! It's the coolest thing for spa pedis. Finally I can really relax and not worry about the position of my foot while they're working on it. Convenient for me and the tech for a much better experience. Needed to get our nails done and Nail Studio San Carlos across the parking lot while eating lunch. Walked over to see if they had any availability and, luckily (unluckily?), they were able to get us right in for two pedicures. The shop is open and clean. There is a center section that looked like it was for people coming in to do just manicures. There was a decent selection of colors to choose from. Not going to name my technician that did my pedicure because she was mean and aggressive. When she asked what service I wanted and I said just the basic, she was not pleased. During my service she cut the side of my big toe nail without asking and it genuinely hurt. At one point I flinched and made a noise, she did not care and kept going. Cutting the side of your toenail can cause the growth to grow back into the skin and increases the risk of an infection. No thank you! My husband said he had to dig his nails out a few times in the following weeks to keep them from getting ingrown. He said she didn't seem thrilled to be doing it and was so clearly shit talking about us that we did not needed to speak a lick of Vietnamese to understand that. He said she complained that his feet were so calloused because he wears flip flops. Well, DUH, we are San Diegans! Of course we wear flips all the time. STAFF IS RUDE TO YOUNG CHILDREN On April 2, 2025, my 11-year-old daughter and I visited your establishment, as we have many times before. When we arrived, I asked what the age cut-off was for a child pedicure. One of the staff members told me it was 11 years old. However, upon seeing my daughter, she loudly said, "That is not 11. She's an adult price." Eventually, she reverted to what she originally told me and said that for this one time, we could pay the child price. Toward the end of our pedicures, the woman doing my nails began making inappropriate comments about my daughter. She repeatedly asked whether my daughter was a boy or a girl and said it looked like she had a mustache. She laughed, made gestures, and even pointed at her--completely humiliating my child. When I asked to speak with a manager, the employee got defensive and ignored my repeated requests. She kept trying to distract me by complimenting the job she did on my pedicure. I left the salon upset. The next day, on April 3rd around noon, I called to follow up. The person who answered said Jenni was the manager. However, during our conversation, Jenni kept interrupting me, wouldn't let me speak, and eventually said the manager wasn't in until Saturday before hanging up on me. I understand that English may not be their first language and that different cultures express themselves differently. I'm Mexican myself--English is also my second language--but there's no excuse for humiliating an 11-year-old child. The behavior we experienced was unprofessional and completely inappropriate. I hope this matter is taken seriously. No child should be made to feel ashamed or mocked--especially in a place that's meant to offer comfort and care. read more

I received a gift card for my sister for Mother's Day. I decided to use it today to get a pedicure on the back of the gift card. This location is listed and it's the same name. My sister bought the gift card at the Spring Valley location, but I decided to come to this one because it was closer to my house. Well when I was ready to pay, the card was still going through and they told me they couldn't take it because it was different owners, but on the back it clearly states that This is one of the locations the card was bought in May. I'm not sure when the new owner took over this location, but I feel like they should've honored it. I would've not been to this location if I would've known specially because my pedicure wasn't all that great. She forgot to cut my cuticle until I mentioned to her she finished the whole pedicure, and then towards the end right before she was gonna paint my toes she drilled my toenail and cut the cuticle, causing residue on my feet after it being washed and cleaned my toenails a little bumpy And some of the gel set awkwardly so she tried cutting it off to make it even but she just kept digging for it. The little old lady was so sweet and I can tell she was trying her best but the work is just not quality. My fingers are encapsulated in glue, under my nails is huge chunks of acrylic. I requested French tip nails and showed a reference photo but she rushed me when I tried explaining what I wanted saying "ok ok I got it" - as you could see she did not get it. The base of the nail polish is so patchy and every time I asked for her to fix a nail she would rush it. I've been going here for years and the last three visits I have had such bad experiences that I won't be returning again. Overpriced services with rude and pushy nail techs. The last time I was in there my nail tech kept insisting I get dip powder instead of gel. I told her twice I don't like dip powder and prefer gel. She shaved my nail beds down until it hurt, didn't file my nails evenly, and the gel was lumpy and covering my cuticles on several nails. The big bummer was that about two weeks after my pedicure I removed the polish that I had done and there were a bunch of white spots all over my toenails! They sound very welcoming over the phone- both times we called in a head of time and were told they have availability for walk ins. 1st time was just okay, but the technician was older woman who didn't do great but okay and good attitude. So i give it 2nd try- the 2nd time horrible, the technician was cut too close and my middle finger bleed, every nail had a different shape, so I asked if she can make them all the same shape( had requested square shape). Both hands look different with different lengths and different shapes so i pointed out- she went off and refused to finish the work. The manager came and asked me to wait so she i gonna find someone else...and was trying to convince her technician that work wasn't, so the two were arguing between themselves. I have been coming here for 3 years and it has never disappoint me. From ingrown toenail's , pedicures , waxing eyebrows and much more. For my acrylic / manicure nails I always get them done with Jenny she is amazing and my mother,grandmother, sister & Aunt always get our nails done with Jenny. Absolutely can not believe what just happened. Went in to get my acrylics removed. She started off, shaving them down and then soaking them. But while my left hand was soaking she started praying off my acrylics on my right hand she hadn't soaked yet with another acrylic nail. I told her I was in pain and she kept going. Until she sliced into the skin under my real nail ripping the top of my real nail off. Then she put that hand with exposed skin into a bag of nail remover. Then she puts drops of nail glue onto the broken nail and skin for a reason she never explained. Which could lead to an infection. NEVER GO HERE. She then charged me $15 for the removal. Updated review: Paul the owner took time to personally call me and apologize for the below and offered a redo. I came in with my daughter (free of charge for me, charged me for her which was fine). Will be coming back. If I could give zero stars I would. Waste of time. I came with my daughter for a mani/pedi. She got standard polish and I got the gel manicure and pedicure (lasts 3-4 weeks). After over two hours of our life spent there (should be a one hour affair) I came home only to see that all my toe polish was peeling off (this is gel so should not budge ever). Un freaking real. I went back and they said the nail polish was defective, redid my toes. Happy girl even though time was wThe next day I saw my finger nails polish was peeling. Went back...again. Woke up this morning post redo and it's peeling AGAIN. Defective nail polish? Bad technique? I don't care. Four hours, an extra $30 in tips only to have this happen. Never going back. read more
