I always loved coming here, but my nails started to literally just break and split spontaneously through the middle horizontally. After the first time I decided to get a new set thinking it was just due to an old set, but the same thing happened. I gave it another shot, but after the 3rd time I knew it had to be something with the acrylic because these would be freshly done nails and I hadn't hit them or anything. I would just look down and see half my nail gone at the top. I decided it was time to go elsewhere. For the price I really do love Nail World. However, I wouldn't recommend going on a Saturday. I went in the morning before a trip and they were slammed. Luckily I had called ahead for an appointment. I was helped quickly but was rushed to get out the door. I had a toe nail polish which involved a bit of filing and that was IT. I also had gel nail polish and simply that was all that was involved. No cleaning under nails or pushing back cuticles. If I had more time I would have had a manicure or pedicure. Lots of lessons learned. However, all of this total was $25. No complaints. read more

I've been going to nail world off and on since 2013! Though there might be nicer nail salons, nail world never fails to produce good nails, even if a bit rushed. This place probably has the best foot massage ever with a pedicure. Even the lowest price pedicure will leave you sitting in the chair with your tongue hanging out as you say "ahhhhh". Although the level of massage varies from tech to tech, each will give you a full foot massage with your pedicure where your foot will be massaged as hard, or as soft, as you can tolerate. As you progress through the massage and spa treatments, you'll be asked if it hurts, or if the water or towels are too hot, or if you're otherwise okay. Nail World, like every salon around, has a menu of pedicure (and manicure) options. The prices are consistent with nearly every salon around. But it's the foot massage that sets this place apart from the other salons I've tried. The basic pedicure has a foot massage. As you go up on the price of the pedicure, where more spa treatments are added, the massage extends from your foot up your calf and shin. The first time I was here, I wanted to tell Esther that her massage hurt -- but in a good way. The expression about beating your head against the wall because it feels good when you quit, pretty much describes it. The pedicure lasts, too. I don't like the shellac top coat, even though it makes your polish last longer; and I've discovered I don't need to get it because even after two weeks, the polish is still unchipped and shiny. I came in on a Friday afternoon and asked if they had time for a walk-in as I wanted my acrylic nails removed and I wanted a manicure afterwards. They said they had time but I waited forty minutes before anyone addressed me again. After that they started filing away the top layers of the acrylics when another employee came over and started trying to get me to get a polish change or a fill in for the acrylics instead of removing them. When I said I wanted them removed again, she started questioning me as to why I wouldn't want to keep them, as if they why even matters. When I told her why, she just walked away without saying anything. So then they started removing the acrylics... by just taking a new extension and SHOVING it between my nail bed and the acrylic. This was SUPER painful and I even groaned in pain a few times without even an acknowledgement from the employee that something was wrong. There was no acetone soaking to break down the bonding or materials and this process ruined my nails. Half of the nails were broken afterwards, which would have been fine if they had actually paid attention to filing them afterwards. I had chunks of nail still hanging off of my nails and I had to keep stopping him from moving on because they were clearly still broken. Also, when they tried to smooth the surface of the nail, he went so hard and deep that my nail bed was actually starting to show and it was extremely painful. It got to the point where I just told them to stop, paid their standard fee for acrylic removal and went to the store next door to by polish and finish my nails at home. I will NEVER come back and I count myself lucky for having the sense to leave before even more damage was done. read more

I absolutely do NOT recommend this place. They have horrible service. My lady was on FaceTime the whole time, and when i walked in all the workers were on their phones with their shoes off. Completely unprofessional. I was told I couldn't get a refill, even though I had never had that issue before. She was rough with my hands, and left my hands so dirty with black stains from the powder. My nails are completely messed up, they are crooked, bumpy, have bubbles, uneven, sharp, and are not consistent. I wasted $50 on these, and I have an important event tomorrow. I have been here a few times now. Both myself and my daughter. They always do a great job of our nails. Last time I got Jimmie Johnson blue with the 48 on two of my nails for NASCAR. Today I got a fill with a more subtle color which happens to be #48 as well. I did have them cut down a little this time and I love the length. The atmosphere is so chill very clean and the owners are the nicest people. I highly recommend going here for your nails. I get gel and it is by far worth it. These things last and no chipping or mishaps and I went like a week over getting my fill and everything still looked good. You won't be disappointed trying this place out. read more

I walked in and was immediately greeted and taken to a pedicure station. The technician was very polite and pleasant and did a truly amazing job! My feet were very soft after my session, my nail polish still has not chipped and I've worn heels, sandals, been barefoot, boots and endured Halloween without a SINGLE chip after two weeks! I was getting ready to head out of town on vacation and decided I wanted a manicure. I looked online to find the closest nail salon to me and found this one. I popped in around lunchtime and was immediately greeted and taken to a chair. There was one other person in the salon at the time that was getting a pedicure. The nail technician that came out from the back was friendly and wasted no time getting supplies together. I wanted the shellac polish - so they would last quite awhile. She went right to work and everything was going well until she got up from her chair and stuck her hand down my back -- with lotion on it. First, I had a jacket on... I would have preferred her to "warn" me so that I could either decline the lotion message down my back or at least let me take my jacket off. (I would have declined if asked - but when the lotion was already on my back...) Then she proceeded to massage my shoulders and neck - very aggressively. This is the first time I have ever had someone do a message when I came in for a manicure. It was very awkward to me. When all layers of polish were applied and cured, she looked at the nails and started filing them down. Uhhh?! Those of you that have done the shellac know that you have to keep the gel coating on the tips of the nails to keep the polish from peeling... and she just filed that off.... that's when I knew I wouldn't be back. I usually do my own nails at home - and had the supplies to fix it, but I was not too happy about that!!! Her actions were insuring that my polish was not going to last as long as it should. She also applied the polish too close to my cuticle area - so as my nails started growing out, there were ridges where the polish pooled at the cuticles... Other places make sure they don't get too close so that you cannot tell as it grows out - therefore making it last longer (I get the french manicure so it's clear to the cuticle) I read reviews before going, and many were raving about the pedicures... so, I figured they would surely do the same for manicures... oh well, I imagine it depends on who you get when you go in, but I won't take my chances again. read more

I am very picky when it comes to nail salons and usually don't go to any salons in Raleigh. I saw Nail World had a pretty good rating on Yelp so I decided to give it a try since I was already going to be at MV and needed to get my nails done ASAP. I'll start with the cons... The staff here did NOT impress me, except for the lady that did my pedicure, she was nice. I usually stick to reds and pinks for my color selection but I have to say that I almost left because the color selection here is SO SMALL. I would have rather brought my own polish from home. I picked up 5 different pinks and looked at the name on the bottom, they were all exactly the same. Do not go here if you want the new seasonal OPI and Essie colors that come out every so often, I'm really disappointed they didn't even have any new springy colors. That may not bother some people, but when doing nails is your business you would think you'd want to have a huge selection of color options for your customers. They also RUSH you as soon as you walk in the door, I was trying to look at their prices when a lady (I'm assuming she was the boss) would not stop pestering me about what I wanted when I continued asking her to give me a minute. They don't have all their services or prices posted on the wall, and the same lady continued to try to rush me when I was clearly still looking at nail colors. They weren't busy but you could tell that they were understaffed and once I finally compromised on a color since I didn't want to waste my time I told her I would get both a pedicure and a manicure. She waved me to the back so I just sat myself down and waited a good 15 minutes without anyone acknowledging me. They didn't have their gel colors out so I wasn't sure if they did shellac manicures but I asked another lady and she gave me the gel nail samples, which were also very limited. I picked a color but ended up not getting my nails done after the pedicure because I had been there so long and it was already 7 o'clock and I didn't want them to rush to finish my manicure in less than 30 minutes before close - which they tried to get me to do. I can say that the lady who did my pedicure, V I believe she said her name was, did a good job. I can't complain about the paint job at all on my toes and the massage was great - if you do the $30 pedicure you get hot stones which are amazing. I will say that she didn't pay much attention to me at all and the entire pedicure, except for the massage was rushed, I didn't get to soak my feet at all before she started. During the whole pedicure she continued to look at the front of the salon, I'm assuming concerned about tips from a previous customer, and that kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Despite getting a decent pedicure, it doesn't outweigh having to wait with absolutely no acknowledgment when they rush you at their convenience, horrible color selection, and overall vibe of the place. I told them I'd possibly come back for the manicure another day (I've never left a salon with the intention of getting a mani/pedi and only getting one), but I unfortunately won't be returning. read more

I wasn't too thrilled with my pedicure here. The first red flag was that the water for the foot bath was straight up cold. Not even lukewarm. Just cold tap water. The second red flag was the hygiene. The towels were discolored and there was no sign that the tools they used had been sanitized. The prices are reasonable, but I would prefer to spend more and rest assured that I won't be leaving the salon with a foot fungus. Hygiene aside the pedicure was fine. I went for the next pedicure after the basic pedicure for $30 because it listed that it includes a callus treatment, and the basic pedicure did not. My friend went for the basic pedicure and I saw that she got a callus treatment so I wished I hadn't gone for the upgrade. I think they are cash only, because I did not see anyone paying with card. Nail World is supposed to be a friendly nail salon right by NC State's campus. Every time I have come to nail world the service has been terrible!!! Sure the prices are cheap but the customer service is awful, services are rushed, and I never feel welcome. The most recent thing is I went in for a polish change and the tech did not even bother to clean my nails??? She just put the new polish over the old one. When I asked her about it she said that was only offered as a part of the full pedicure! She sent me to the dryer and because she rushed and also did not do a top coat, two of my nails smudged. I walked back over to her and in the most annoyed voice she asked what was wrong and did a rush job to repaint them and send me on my way. Before choosing to come, I had heard a few bad stories about this nail salon. I figured every salon has displeased customers and decided to give it a try anyway. A friend and I decided to go in for a gel manicure and a full set of acrylics. We walked in and there were already a few people waiting. We were asked what we wanted to have done and replied. No one responded. A few minutes later we were asked again. Again, no response. We were not told how long the wait time would be, where to find the options for gel colors, or anything. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and sat down to wait it out. Another customer who came in at the same time as us left after about ten minutes. No one ever asked her what services she was there for. In the time that my friend and I sat there, two additional people came in only to leave a few minutes later. I've been a costumer at Nail World for sometime now. What I have noticed as of late is extremely disappointing. Discrimination. I can honestly say, I didn't want to believe what I have seen, and came up with excuses for the behavior the few times I thought I saw it. However today it was blatant! It was in your face, and directed towards my family. One of the owners, Tina, allowed my nieces 6, and 8 and their mother to wait 30 minutes, only to ask them to return in the next hour upon the entrance of 4 Caucasian young ladies. She claimed they had an appointment, after letting my family, pick out colors and wait 30 minutes. Like I said, I've been a customer for years, I didn't need to be there to know this was total Bull Shit. They brushed my family off after 30 minutes to cater to a group of Caucasian young ladies. I will no longer spend a my money in this establishment, and I encourage others (black people)to do the same. It's unfortunate, because I've established a great relationship with a few of the nail technicians who do a good job. But, I will no longer spend my money in an establishment who 1. I wish I can rate this place a 0 star. I wouldn't even call it a business. My BFF visited me from Silver Spring, MD and we wanted a nice spa day. We got there with very little problem. When we walked in we were not greeted, we stood there until someone said pick a color. LOL. Pick a color, that's it! No, Good Morning! How are you? How can I help you? Just pick a color. We looked at their very limited wall of dry out, old selection nail polish. Now I do give them credit for having people in their pedicure chairs, making money but that doesn't mean be rude. Not even the nail tech that checked her client out at the register greet us. But we sat down and started to look around. There was this very cloudy fish tank with the biggest gold fish(at leas I think it was) I have ever seen. There was a nail techs little boy relaxing on the business couch (the whole couch). The boy had pizza on the floor, his toys and school work all by the couch and fish tank. I couldn't take it anymore! I told BFF I'm leaving right now and got up and walked out. They kept saying, no stay, few more minutes. No thank you and we left. A business should be ran as such. If its a daycare slash nail salon have that advertise properly. The worst place ever.
