I have been coming here consistently for the past couple months to have gel manicures and pedicures. I have had a different lady each time, and I have been beyond satisfied with every visit. They have a large variety of colors to choose from, the facility is very clean, and the ladies are all friendly and professional. Today stood out to me in particular, which prompted my review. I had brought in one of my own polishes to hopefully find a similar color in gel. After what I thought was going to be a failed mission on my part, Hailey found THE perfect match. She and KA (lady doing my pedicure) then beautifully displayed it on my fingernails and toenails. IF they are able to, they will have two ladies work on you at the same time which is awesome. It's super efficient and saves lots of time. They do get busy though, so I recommend calling ahead. Also, if you pick a color and it doesn't look how you thought it would, just let your lady know right away. This happened to me once. The pink came out looking really flesh toned. I was apprehensive to say anything, but I did. The lady was super appreciative that I spoke up instead of letting her finish and me leaving dissatisfied. Another cool thing is they each have their Venmo thing available to be scanned for leaving tips. I love going here. You probably will too. read more

This was my worst nail experience EVER. Maybe they do fine with regular nails but do NOT do acrylics. It's crazy that they even thought this was acceptable. I asked for the most basic thing and I literally have no words. read more

Let's just say steer clear of this establishment. Warning if I could give less stars I would. I had the worst experience ever. Clearly no one frequents there as the place was deserted, but I gave them a chance thinking maybe it's just a few bad apples out there. Ladies stay away! This place has the worst wait time. The girl working also made it seem as if it was your fault that you couldn't be seen immediately. Are you kidding me. 45 minutes for a scheduled nail repair. It should only take 10 minutes to do. While my mom was in town, we treated ourselves to a little froyo and while we were walking around we realized how fugly our toes looked. We both declared that we were overdue for a pedicure. Good thing Nails & Spa on Selwyn is just a short jaunt from Yoforia! Mom and I rolled in there on a Saturday afternoon, without an appointment, and went with the deluxe pedicure. For $30, this sweet pedi includes with paraffin treatment, an exfoliator, masque, hot towel treatment, and of course, the polish of your choosing. BTW - the difference between the basic pedi and the upgraded "deluxe" was only $4 per person. Totally worth it. The staff there were friendly, but quiet - which I didn't really mind as I was there chatting with my mama. It also states on their website and in the shop that they offer complimentary refreshments with every service. We weren't offered a refreshment, which is not a huge deal but I probably would have enjoyed a bottle of water if available. We chose our polishes (they have a large variety of OPI & Essie) and were directed to the massage chairs seated above the pedicure basins. Before the nail tech even started, I was supremely enjoying the massage chair. Who doesn't love a massage chair? The deluxe pedicure itself was very nice. The tech was very thorough and I loved the extra goodies that came with the deluxe package. The paraffin treatment was probably my favorite. As for the finished product, my feet and toes felt super soft and looked perfectly polished. I took a brief view at their spa menu and it looks like they offer other services like waxing and facials, too. As an FYI - they only accept cash or checks here, and they do have an ATM inside the nail salon. They have a prominent sign on the door advising of this to all of us who never carry cash. That would be me. Since my pedicure is still holding strong, one week later, and this nail salon uses a new buffer and file every time (which they give to you afterwards), my toes may walk over here again for another deluxe pedicure in the near future. read more

I went in yesterday and found out the scoop. They have a manicure/pedicure special on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. $28 plus $1 if you don't bring your little baggie with your file and buffer. Clean and modern, very friendly. We should have a pedicure party, to all men who have never had a pedicure, they trim your toenails , scrub the dead skin off your feet and massage your legs and feet. You get a very good quality manicure, pedicure, gel and acrylic nails. They people that work there are very good at their job and very nice, especially the owners. And, they can solve problems you may have with your feet and hands. Once, they gave me an ointment for a bad hangnail. Their products are good. And, the prices are quite reasonable with varying price points. The only thing that I would change would be the noise level. It is quite impossible to relax during your service because often the owner's child (or children) are there and the youngest can be quite loud. Just today, the older child was chasing the younger one in the salon until their father sent them to a back room. And, quite often the people that work their have loud conversations in a different language. So, if you want a very good quality service at a good price and you don't mind the noise level, it's perfect! read more

I usually do not get manicures or pedicures because I can do them better myself. Nails & Spa on Selwyn was a pleasant exception. The staff was friendly, pedicure deluxe and basic manicure were really good and relaxing. They do a thorough foot and calf massage, which is something I cannot do for myself. The place has complimentary tea, coffee, wine, and sodas. In comparison to some other places I have been, this salon is pleasantly quiet and not rushed. I met a girlfriend here for a quick fill in and was very pleased with the service and location. Now, I'm what you would call "particular" about the places I get my nails and toes done. Perhaps it's because one too many times I have left unhappy and hurt. But that was not the case here. I loved the set up you walk in tell them what service you are looking for fill out a paper with your name and service and then select your color. And no worries--they have an excellent selection of colors (Opi, Morgan Taylor and Essie) for you to chose from! The staff were all very welcoming and as soon as you sit down you are offered your drink (soda, water, wine or beer...yep beer). Even though we went on a super busy afternoon I didn't feel rushed and was pleased with their attention to detail. My only gripe is their cash or check only policy. Ugh, I'm a plastic lover...I love to swipe (don't judge me) , but ain't happening here! So just prepared and stop at your ATM before you visit! Great spot! The staff are extremely friendly and attentive to their work. They not only provide a variety of services, but offer drinks during your services..and are open on Sundays, a definite plus! I enjoyed the cleanliness of their products and the overall service, from two of the four sisters that work there..a definite family run treat! The one thing I will note, cash or check only! I do not get my nails done frequently, but whenever I want a gel manicure I make sure that I visit Nails on Selwyn. Every manicure I have received has been performed with care and holds up well in the following weeks. There is a large selection of colors for both regular polish and gel and they even denote which brand each gel color is. A gel manicure is $25 and their pedicure pricing is very fair, the add-ons really enhance the experience without bumping up the total too much. As I said, I do not come here very frequently, but a few staff members now recognize me when I come in which is always a nice customer service touch.The facilities are also well kept and spacious and the variety of their refreshments is a nice touch as well. read more

Best value in Charlotte for a deluxe mani and/or pedi. I've had treatments from a majority of the staff and they were all very skilled. They do walk ins or appointments. They have plenty of pedicure thrones for those busy days or if you want to come with a group of friends. It is cash only (which I know can be annoying to some people) but they have an ATM in their shop. They do a great job with the paraffin, hot towels, exfoliating etc. When you arrive, go to the desk and get a slip of paper and check off what you want. Weird but efficient. Very disappointing experience! I got a gel French mani and a toe polish change since I only had an hour. I called ahead, made an appointment, and was seated in a pedi chair immediately. The polish change was ok - he did take the time to buff, shape, and wash a little, but once I left I noticed tons of polish on my skin. My gel mani was easily THE WORST I've ever had in Charlotte. The guy did a fine job removing polish, buffing, and shaping, but the base coat does not go all the way to my skin on several nails. DO NOT GET FRENCH. He put 2 layers of white on and shaped, but they were uneven, spotted, and the lines are blurry and cloudy. I also asked for the white to be small, so he had to paint them down more. Then after getting the white somewhat acceptable, he decided to put white on the top sliver on the nail. In doing this, he created several glops of paint along the top of each nail. I asked him to even it out, but they still had glops of paint when I left. Lastly, there were SOOOO many dried spots to the left, right, and under my nails, that I've had to peel off several spots and file them myself to try and look decent. Oh and I think their prices are inconsistent, meaning they charge people different things. I was told a gel French mani was $40 and polish change was $10, but their prices there on a sheet hanging said $37 for French gel and $8 for polish change on toes. I was charged $50 with both, but my mani was not worth $40! Really disappointed. Will not return and do not recommend. read more

I happened upon this place randomly after completing a workout nearby. I was pleasantly surprised. I've had two different technicians my two visits and both have done an excellent job. I've been in Charlotte a little over a year now and finally have found a nail salon near home that does excellent work and very reasonable prices. read more

Stopped in here a few weeks ago when walking my dog. I live close by but had never been. Pleasantly surprised to find an excellent salon in the neighborhood that is clean, provides great service and a high quality manicure. I received a fantastic gel manicure. I just checked to see if they are open today and am glad to see they are open on Sundays. This will become my regular go-to salon. I recommend them to all. Give them a try. Hands down the best value for a mani/pedi in Charlotte. Compared to other salons in Charlotte that rush you through your mani/pedi, Nails & Spa On Selwyn takes the time to truly pamper you. They offer a large selection of OPI and Essie nail polishes along with gel polish by OPI. The employees are conversational, friendly, and funny. They also offer alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages during your service. I would recommend their Deluxe Pedicure which offers an exfoliating mud mask, paraffin, and hot towels. I am not sure why this place has such a great rating. The inside looks tacky and out of date. I walked in after work one day and I was sat down immediately (which was great). I usually go to another nail salon but thought I would try it out since it was close to my work. I asked for a shellac manicure and wanted my nails filed some and squared off. Perhaps I got the wrong manicurist? I had to ask her THREE times to even my nails out. My left hand's nails looked completely different than my right hand's...even on the same hand some nails were way longer than others. I finally gave up when they looked somewhat normal. A few days later my gel manicure started peeling. I don't know if they weren't cured long enough or if she didn't get the edges? I will not return and will stay at my normal nail salon. read more

With over 100 OPI gel options it's hard to go wrong. I always stop by Reid's and pick up a beer. Everyone is very nice, but be careful with who does your gel. I've been four times now and only had one older lady who did my gel that was not up to par. However, they told me if they chipped to come back at any time within two weeks and they'd take care of me. Also had a certificate for a manicure and my technician said he didn't want me to wast all of it on something that I didn't need, because he said my cuticles looked Great. My first experience here was awesome! They seriously have the most amazing massage chairs I've ever found. I did the deluxe pedi and it was heaven! All of the staff was very friendly, and my tech, Amy, was top notch! I was a walk-in and she greeted me warmly and I was served immediately. I didn't take advantage of their beverages, but I was offered one even though I had a cup of coffee with me. The salon was clean, didn't smell of chemicals, and the decor was nice. They have these 'curtains of beads" hanging from the ceiling and every time they go through them it makes this soft rain-like sound and they sparkle. I thought it was a very creative touch. I just had my first pedi here and this has now become my go to place. It is clean, they have a good selection of colors, the staff were nice and the chairs are great. For $29 you can get a Deluxe Pedi which included scrubs, paraffin wax, hot towels, massage, etc. (regular pedi was $25). They only take cash or check and have an ATM inside. This place was decent, but Decor Nails was better. I just prefer the service at Decor Nails. I guess you have to be a regular to really like this place. They don't take card, but theres an ATM, which wouldn't work for my Ally card so that could have been a problem. The pedicure was mediocre, and the massage wasn't anything to jump up and down about. I cannot wrap my brain around why anyone would go here. It is cramped, stuffy, and completely lacks in customer service. When I arrived with my mother for a manicure we were greeted by, um, no one. After figuring out-by ourselves-how to check in we took a seat next to the ATM. Yes, the ATM. Because this salon lives in the Stone Age and takes cash only which I found completely inconvenient seeing as I was charged to use it. After about 10 minutes a frazzled employee pointed to us to sit down for our manicure and then abruptly barked at us to "wait a second!". She then proceeded to give our seat to another woman-who came after us-and then continued painting yet another customer's toenails. Hmm? Maybe she was confused so we continue to wait thinking we will be taken care of soon. Nope. Another employee then escorts someone else who had arrived much later than us to a seat for her manicure. That was the last straw so we got up to leave. Did anyone try to clarify or offer an apology? Nope. Do yourself a favor and avoid this overrated, cramped, and rude "salon". I am! read more

I went in with a friend to have a shellac manicure and pedicure (regular) done. The whole process took about 3 hours and the manicurist had to redo my thumb 3 times. Finally she was satisfied with it and we paid. This mani/pedi was more expensive than my regular place and the quality is nowhere as good. My thumb chipped the very next day (on a gel manicure)! And the polish on my other fingers is wavy and uneven. I will not be going here again. read more
