I've been struggling to find a good nail technician that can do dip powder. 3 of the salons in the Pleasant Hill / Walnut Creek / Concord that I've been to for dip powder were not experienced or sanitary with their methods (Allegra, Puffin) and my nails have broken or chipped within 3 days to 2 weeks. Lena is great. She has a huge selection of colors for dip as opposed to other nail salons that have only about 20-30. She's very good and detailed. I'm on my third week with my dip manicure and am going to keep it for another week so her manicures last for a good 3-4 weeks. There's no sign of peeling on the cuticle side which I usually get by my third week. She's amazing at dip powder so if that's what you're looking for, she's your person. read more

I felt lucky to have stumbled upon Lena's Yelp profile. I was beginning to feel hopeless after searching and searching for a nail technician that took the time and care with my natural nails and applying the dip powder. I've been growing my nails out for over a year now, and after going to salons that don't understand the proper care technique needed to maintain length and the dip powder, I was starting to feel like my nails became brittle and thin. With other salons and other nail technicians, the powder cracked after one week, and my nails even started ripping on the side of my nail bed or breaking if I lightly bumped them on something. I first started seeing Lena at another salon and I felt she was easy to talk to and she always had great ideas for color and something new. I followed her to her new place and she has been awesome. She's always on time and she does dip polish which has been great for me as my nails are stronger and the polish stays on for at least 3 weeks. She always includes a nice hand massage and I have just started going to her for pedicures now too. She uses really good organic products and she gets creative with me when I want to do something different. She also always works me in if I have a last minute need for an appointment. Went to Lena for my bridal nails the morning of my wedding. My appointment was for 8am, but she was with someone else until 815. Totally fine, I planned in extra time prior to my next appointment, but she was done with me by 9am because of rushing through to be on time for her regulars. I had gone in wanting to get tips because my nail had broken a few weeks prior and i had wanted long nails for my wedding. I was told to just go natural, fair enough, I was trying to not be "extra". But I left with my nails not shaped uniformly, so I had to file them to look more even, nails that had been long looked super stubby because my cuticles hadn't been pushed back, just filed with her machine and, the gel for the dipping powder was globbed on at the end and sticking to my skin, also to fix that. However a week out and it looked like it was at least two from the amount of space between the dip and my cuticles so I decided to remove them properly, filing down the hell and using acetone, only to discover that i have u's carved into my nails from where she filed down my cuticles. I went to Lena because of the great reviews and it's clear she does a good job with some people. Unfortunately I was not one of them. read more

I have been getting my nails done with Lena for a long time, she is the best! I too followed her from another salon and encouraged her to be her own boss. She is a true professional and a wonderful person. I now bring my adult daughter, who is physically challenged, to Lena. Lena is so kind, patient and efficient. She has no problem with my daughter's wheelchair or with her disability that makes her pedicures and nails much more difficult. She even waxes while my daughter is in the same chair, saving us transferring multiple times, which can be time consuming and not easy to deal with. Lena does a great job with my daughter's nails, which is amazing considering my daughter's tight muscles and her inability to move her legs. Lena makes her feel beautiful and that is a wonderful thing. I love her too! My nails are thin and split and crack. I'd tried everything--including just cutting them to the quick--but nothing helped or lasted. Then a friend recommended getting my nails 'dipped' by Lena. She does a great job of dipping (if you haven't had it, it is a process by which powder is adhered to the nails. No smell. No UV lights. And the polish lasts until your nails have grown so much you need to have it done again --in my case about 3 weeks because my nails are now growing! When Lena removes the old polish I see strong nails--but of course I have it done again because she makes them beautiful and they last. I have taken vacations where I was in the ocean every day and the nails stayed perfect. I wish I had found her years ago! read more
