Five Stars for The Nails Emporium, Los Gatos My wife and I dropped into The Nails Emporium on a whim, and my wife left convinced she has found her new go-to spot in Los Gatos. From the moment we stepped through the door, there was a relaxed vibe, welcoming tone--but the true standout of our visit was Mimi. Mimi handled my wife's pedicure with meticulous care. She trimmed and shaped each nail perfectly, taking the extra moments to ask about length and comfort rather than rushing through the basics. My wife walked out visibly relieved--no more rough edges catching on socks or shoes, just smooth, even nails that looked as good as they felt. The hot-stone massage that followed was bliss. The stones were the right temperature--soothingly warm without ever feeling too hot--and Mimi used them to work out tension along the calves and heels. I... am ... in heaven right now.... I'm the only one in here on a Friday night... This woman is SO sweet and the other 3 women here are hanging out with us as we watch Friends. OH YES, Friends is on with back to back episodes and no commercials. This is incredible! My favorite show AND a leg massage!!!??? (Monday) Ok, so here I am now finishing my review that I started while getting THE best pedicure at the Nail Emporium. I gotta say I was SooOOoo in heaven and out of body with relaxation after that hot stone massage that I agreed to letting her paint flowers on my toes. haha They are super cute, dont get me wrong! But I am not the flowers on my toes type. Plain is best for me. haha Everything was so wonderful and when she asked me if I wanted flowers and all the other women were smiling in agreement - I said yes! She could have asked me to marry her! lol You can bet I will be working this salon trip into my monthly budget! On a side note as a tag on all the bad reviews I read below: The place is super small - 3 chairs. It's very laid back and casual - nothing fancy. The women are all very close - even possibly related, but not one hint of rudeness. I think that the awkwardness I did get on the phone while making my appt was possibly just confusion of the accent and english misinterpetation (maybe we talk too fast and use needless english words). I reccommend just saying "I would like a pedicure today (tomorrow or Friday) at 5:30pm." Then see if they confirm. Once you are there with them in person - They are SO nice! Okay, so after reading all the wonderful reviews, I just had to try it........ So I called to make an appointment on my beauty day....but after getting my hair did at umbrella, and my eyebrows did with deepa...I was running late...so I called to let them know...and they seemed VERY rude on the phone!!! I almost wanted to cancel my appointment and say NEVRMIND!! But whatever, I went anyway....and to my surprise they weren't so bitchy in person! The place was SO PACKED Though!! 3 spa chairs total, and its pretty small..... so anyway, on to the good stuff....I absolutely LOVED the hot stone pedi massage, but what happened to my parafin dip, leg scrub, etc? I guess I was expecting the total package, but I am guessing those are extras?? So, that was a bit disappointing. I decided to go with the pink french mani/pedi....so there was one person workin on my pedi while the other worked on my mani. I would have liked to enjoy my massage first THEN get my mani, but it didn't work that way!! I just felt like the mani was completely rushed...and the french tip was not evenly polished up, another disappointment. Then...I thought the cute little flowers were complimentary since they kept asking everyone and their mama's if they wanted it, so I agreed. And oh yeah, they kept telling the lady next to me that she really need a manicure cos she had a hang nail, LOL!! WTF?? I thought that was a bit rude! I almost forgot to mention the most important part.....after they filled up the spa tub, the water was SOOO FREAKIN scalding HOTT that it burned my little feet!!!!!!!! ouch!! ALL in ALL, they charged me freakin $65 and I am still wondering WHY????? I felt pretty ripped off. Next time I go there (IF there is even a next time), I will probably just stick to the Pedi and go else where for the mani (I really dig Pinky nails in santa clara, where they actually spent 2 hours doing my nails and kept asking me if it was ok, etc.). I like ppl who go out of their way and not ppl just in it to make an extra buck. p.s. they also do not accept credit cards, nor did they accept my check!!!!! I absolutely love this place....The nail techs there are absolutely wonderful...The pedicures are too die for. They dont take walk ins because they believe in keeping the environment stress free and they want to service you with all their time. Pedicures start at $28. THEY include: Pariffin Dip, Hot stone massage, foot/leg scrub, and well your regular pedicure.... They have two spa chairs so it woudn't be a place to bring a wedding party but definitely a place for you and your best girlfriend to chill at. read more

I'm not gonna lie.... The ONLY reasons I get pedicures are 1. I can't paint my own toenails 2. I just like the foot massages. After reading the first review on this place, I had to try it. I went a few months back and was pretty impressed. The shop is very very small. Only three pedicure stations and three nail stations. On my first visit, I couldn't believe how long they massaged my feet. it was at least 20 minutes! This HAD to be some sort of mistake! The cost was $28. A little more than what I usually pay for a pedicure, but then again, at other places, I am never happy when I leave. I went again a few days ago for pedicure #2. I went about 11am and the place was empty. I got my pedicure and my 10 minute hot stone massage. I was in heaven. After the 10 minute stone massage, they will massage your legs and feet for another 10-15 minutes. They did a good job. I will definitely come back here again. This time they charged me $30 (the price must have gone up) but I didn't mind. It was money well spent in my eyes. Keep in mind, this place doesn't have that great of a nail color selection. I live in Santa Cruz and will come to this place to get a pedicure ANY time! (That is, after I've saved up a bit!) Nails Emporium give the best pedicures I've ever had. Super relaxing, and I really enjoy the small shop environment (only three chairs, so make sure to have an appointment.) Nails Emporium is a bit different than the other salons you'd find in Los Gatos. It's a small location and I imagine it would be a bit cramped should you find more than a few patrons inside. The decor suggests a family business. One of the two nail stations entirely devoted to lunch bags and personal effects. The spa chairs are comfortable but definitely show a bit of love and wear, as does the rest of the equipment. If you're looking for immaculate zen spa atmosphere without any clutter, this isn't the place for you. However, if you're comfortable in a casual setting you're in the right spot! The girls are sweet and talkative and take such incredible care with your nails during your visit that it quickly becomes apparent that they are among the best at what they do. For a very low price and the trouble of occasionally juggling a bowl or holding your hand up instead of resting it at a nail station, you get an amazing manicure. My gel manicure has held up to all of my abuses and I definitely be going back for a touch up! read more

Mimi does a fantastic job actually making your feet look and feel good. She really scrubs the rough skin, smoothing it out. She really cleans up cuticles and moisturizes the feet and toes. She really messages the feet and toes, not just the calves. After all, you go get a pedicure for your feet, right? So many salons pay very little attention to the tough skin and the toes that need care. Not so here. If you want feet that look pretty for weeks, this is your place. Call and make an appointment. Mimi definitely knows how to make you feel like a princess! I came in a Wednesday and Mimi happily took me in. It was my first time getting acrylics and Mimi chose a good length for my nails since I was unsure of how long/short I wanted it. Mimi took her time with my nails and made sure I was satisfied of how I wanted them. I couldn't stop staring at my hands after she was finished because they just looked so so pretty! Just went yesterday for pre-Bachelorette Party primping, on the recommendation of one of the bachelorette party girls who works nearby. The pedicure and manicure themselves were good, but not great. She didn't spend too much time on my fingernails, and the french tips of my toes are a little uneven, BUT the foot massage is fantastic!!! I agree with a previous reviewer that I 've never had a pedicure with so much time spent on the massage. I personally prefer a deeper massage than you can ever get at a nail salon, but the combination of the hot stones and the length of time the woman spent on my legs and feet was fantastically soothing and relaxing. The mani/pedi was $50 and they took four of us as walk-ins, no problem. Definitely recommended. read more

A little placed, tucked away; I wouldn't have ever found it unless it was highly recommended. Tried this place today, and I am not going anywhere else. They really take their time with your feet. I couldn't help but want to fall asleep in my heated chair. This may have been the longest pedicure/massage I have ever had! She was super gentle and patient. And, now I'm ready for sandal season.... This place gets one star, partially because that's the lowest rating I can give them and partially because they do a decent nail job....HOWEVER, the two ladies who work here are the biggest CRAP TALKERS EVER! It really takes a lot for me to dislike a place this much, but these women are not nice at all. I went in one day with one of my friends who speaks Vietnamese...these ladies obviously couldn't tell because the owner was saying really rude things about her customers in Vietnamese, all the while keeping a friendly smile on her face and acting as if she cared about her customers. The owner was being pretty rude to the other nail lady as well, and it was just an overall unpleasant experience. By the way, the only accept cash or check and they do not tell you this when you call to make an appointment...so if you don't have cash or a check handy, be prepared to be talked crap to in a language you probably don't understand...even as you are walking out the door to run to the nearest ATM. read more

I came here a bit late as a walk-in but Mimi and her staff still took me in. Thank you so much for that! :) I got nail extensions with gel manicure and gel pedicures. First off, very good price! She always made me feel like a princess. She's also very nice and easy to talk to. She listens to you and accompany you talk if you want. A very sweet lady! :) I also like that she listen to you and does exactly that. I told her that I wanted the gel to be a bit thin so that it looks natural and not thick and fake looking. She made sure it's thin enough but still strong. I told her I type a lot and she chose the length and shape for me that's easy for a typer like me. :) I got lots of compliment from my family, friends and my customer as well. Her feet bath was very soothing and very clean as she used the disposable plastic bag on the tub. I also got a nice feet massage too! Most importantly, she didn't gave me any bleeding like other places that I went to. She's very gently. Moreover, I love her for that after the nail are done, I didn't feel the numb pain from all the gel and glue that ran underneath of my finger like I had experienced at other places. I felt like the nail extensions are like my nail, very comfortable in them. Bottom line is, I absolute will come back again and will recommend my friends, customers, and family over. :) now I have a nail artist for life! Ugh had a really bad time here last weekend. REALLY nice ladies I will start off by saying BUT....The place is SO tiny I was immediately uncomfortable and it was SO hot my first thought is gosh I hope this is just a quick process I cannot be in this little room for long. TWO HOURS later I had to ask them to PLEASE get to the part where they actually paint my nails, they spent a long time on random different massages. If you like that great but the quality of my nails and polish was compromised due to the time they spent on the massage portion. They painted my nails in a hurry and I could not stand to stay longer so they could dry. Two days later my nails are dry, polished is chipped and look so nasty that I have to go get another manicure tonight. Usually mine last at least 5 days this one didn't even last 2. :( NOT worth the 45$ for a mani pedi. read more

I've been coming here for a couple of years now and I haven't found anything as good as this little piece of heaven. I live about 30mins away and don't mind the drive, it's beyond worth the trip. The last time I was here I brought my brother for the gentleman's pedicure for his bday and they were able to fit me in for a pedicure and manicure. I ended up getting the Shellac polish and omg I love it. I have a little one and getting my nail polish to stay on more than two days is a miracle. The Shellac lasted me close to a month. No CHIPPING or PEELING. The hot rock massage and paraffin are amazing, the menu says its 30 mins of massage, but it's always been 45mins+. I've also asked them before if they had an express pedicure since I didn't have the time to get both mani & pedi, they responded to come at 1pm and both ladies would work on me. Very friendly, no secretive foreign speaking. I've actually gotten to know a little about them and their children. It's a hole in the wall, really small but once they start on the massage it doesn't matter lol oh and they've also added massage chairs. oh and my brother was really happy with the massage he want's to come back again. They also recommended for him to see a foot doctor because his left toe nail was starting to get ingrown or something like that. he did go to the doctor and they were right, if it wasn't for them I don't think he would have noticed it. After reading the reviews I had to try this place out. I live in LG so the location was perfect. When I walked in I was surprised how small it was. I know other reviews mentioned it was small, but I didn't expect it to be that small. However, I did like how quiet it was. My friend and I went in at 6pm on Friday and were the only ones there. It was really nice and relaxing to not have the noise of other salons. The one thing I LOVED was the chair!! It is a great chair that massages from the back of your legs all the way to your head!! The pedicure and manicure I received was also good and a good price. If I were to rate just that I would say it was a 4. The reason this is rated at a 3 is due to the lack of cleanliness. The small salon was dirty and a little ghetto (which is SO weird since it's LG). In addition, for the manicure you have to dip your hand in the actual bowl of paraffin wax. I've had paraffin many times and usually they put it in a bag and then your hand goes in there. I found it a little gross knowing that every other person had put their hands in there too. It might not matter to some people but it was just a little gross if you ask me. So based on that and the dirtiness I had to rate the salon a 3. Overall the pedicure and manicure were good for the price but the fact that is was dirty was a big turnoff. If you want to get a good pedicure or manicure for a good price this is a decent place. My pedicure was fabulous and the technician was really sweet. For 30 dollars they do a whole lot. I've paid 70 for a pedicure before and I received just about as much for this 30 dollar pedicure. The lady spent a good 10 mins massaging my legs with stones and than another 10-15 min on my legs and feet with lotion. I was really happy leaving. I really like the massage chairs too, they are a little worn but they definitively do the trick! I only deducted 1 star because I believe if they added a nicer decor it could really enhance the place and make it more of a relaxing environment. Than it would be more cozy than crowded. I have been going to Nails Emporium for a couple of years now and every once in a while I cheat on them and I am always disappointed. They are amazing and give the longest hot stone and leg massages along with parafin (which is normally extra). I read the review about the gals talkinng about their customers in Vietnamese and whatever. So what if they do, but I don't ever get the feeling they are talking about me and I am a super sensative person so if anyone is going to be concious of that it would be me. On a better note, I would definitely recommend this place. It's not the most fancy place in the world but when I'm relaxing wth my eyes shut or reading a magazine I could care less. My Pedis are at least an hour from start to finish and if they know you will tip them well they rub forever and ever. It is the best place on the planet and I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

I have been to nails emporium at least 10 times now and I love everything about them! They do the best pink and white nails and signature pedicure. The pink and white always looks so natural and the signature pedicure is so AMAZING and long. The prices are really good for how LONG the services are. They really take time to treat you in whatever you have done. The women in this salon are SO NICE which is why I go to this salon out of every salon in the bay area.
