Jasmine has been my nail tech for years and she literally is so talented. This is an updated review as I've been coming faithfully every month since they opened a few years ago. And frankly, the customer service varies depending on whether the one of the owners is present or not. I went in this past Friday, walked in at 6:40 pm, told the 2 girls at the counter that I wanted a pedicure and gel ex removal. The hostess said ok, so I proceeded to pick out a color. I sat and waited about 10 min, no one was saying anything, not even the guy who normally does my gelx, or the older lady who's usually in charge. Everyone was giving me side eye looks and rushing out the back door. I got the feeling of "she'll figure it out we're closing." It was a bit humiliating. Amy came and said she'd do my pedicure once she got free. I appreciated her so much for taking me on. When I asked her if anyone would be able to do my nails, she wasn't sure. I disclosed that I was having a surgical procedure the next morning and would appreciate if someone could take them off (per drs request). She took immediate action and went to the 2 young girls at the front desk. When she told them that it was an urgent request bc of my procedure, one of the girls replied with, "Well she should have came sooner." That was kinda hurtful bc little did she know that my procedure was emergency stat. And regardless of my procedure, if they weren't going to have time for me, they should have told me when I checked in, instead of having me wait, and I could have gone down the street to one of the other nail salons. Amy turned to another nail tech who was helping another client. Asked if she could accommodate, and yes she asked Vilan if he would be able to take them off and he did. I appreciated him for it. After my services were done, I left within the hour and would have taken 35 min overall had I been seen right away. I've been a loyal customer to Nailtique since they opened but that girls comment and their lack of communication upon check in was disappointing. read more

I waited 40 minutes before asking how much longer it would be and the front desk told me AT LEAST 30 more minutes - so an hour and 10 past appointment time. This was my second time at this nail shop. The first time, I walked in hoping to get a gel manicure. The lady who noticed me asked me to pick a color. Her tone was kind of rough and rude. I find their gel color selection to be limited. There were only two sheets of colors. Maybe the other color samples were given to other customers or somewhere else???? I even asked her if there were more colors to choose from and she pointed to the same two samples she had. I was told to pick a color and wait. After waiting for 15 minutes I left. There are three other nail shops in this Sierra Madre Foothills shopping area. This nail shop is relatively new so I decided to give it a try. But there are plenty of options within a 1/2 mile radius and other shops have more color selection. I was in the area again three weeks later, and decided to given them another try. I walked in and a different lady greeted me and informed me there is only a short wait and asked me to pick a color. I was there to remove my gel manicure and I wanted to do a regular manicure to give my nails a break from all the chemicals from gel. After I picked a color, she told me to sit next to her and wait. I waited for about 5 minutes and she asked me to move to a different station. I didn't know why she didn't have me sit there in the first place. Regardless, I moved. If the moving around and waiting were the only issues, that would have been fine with me. The lady started cutting my nails. She was cutting so close to the skin underneath my nail, I started pulling my finger away. She yelled at me for doing that. I asked her not to cut too short. She said she's trying to make all the nails even. I had a really short one that broke off. I said it's ok to not make them even and if you are going to cut them so short and so close to the flesh underneath the nail, you need to push down the flesh, so I don't feel like you are going to cut my skin. I even gave her a suggestion on how to mitigate the situation.. I was coaching her on how to cut nails close to the skin so the client wouldn't feel like their flesh is gonna get cut. She didn't listen. I pulled away again, afraid. She yelled at me again. She said if I pull away, she can't do her job and she may end up hurting me. I said you are already hurting me and you are doing it over and over. After all the back and forth, I paid for the gel manicure removal and left. I didn't want her to file or do the coloring anymore. I didn't trust her. I never had any manicurist yelled at me or argued with me like this. I was not expecting of being fearful of getting cut and getting yelled at multiple times. The interior was spacious and new. But the service was unprofessional and the work unskilled to say the least. read more

When the owner isn't there, appointments often feel rushed and the small touches that used to make this place stand out, like immediately offering you a drink, are often missing. My regular lady was booked and my gel polish all chipped or peeled and I couldn't wait for her as my nails were just gross . The lady that did my gel x extensions did a horrible /job design. She drew so poorly I just asked for stickers because she couldn't draw . Then the corners chipped after one day !!!!! I called to get them fixed and they told me to email the pictures: I did and no answer . I called to follow up and the guy said he doesn't make that decision look, I'm a busy working mom. I am a Sierra Madre resident and I hate that I have to write this review. Honestly, this nail salon is probably one of the worst ones I've been to. I've been here several times only because I live 0.5 miles away and it's convenient to be able to get my nails done quickly. However, every single time has been a disappointment. I make an appt and when I show up, the employees have no idea that I made an appt. They don't seem to communicate to each other. The service is horrible. They are not helpful and the owner is a man and he refuses to do anything about it. The customer service is severely lacking and I've never witnessed such a chaotic nail shop. It doesn't seem difficult to be able to keep appointments and be kind to your customers. Especially in this small town, I am so disappointed by the lack of service. Don't go here. Nail shops in general have become so unaffordable. Not sure why their prices are so high. I was quoted one things and at the end of my service the price was much higher. Also the nail technicians are rude and talk about you to each other in another language that you can't understand. She's been there for only 3 weeks and she told me she messed up on my nails because she wasn't wearing the right glasses and was laughing about it. Keep in mind I am 34w pregnant. I have been coming to Nailtique for a few years now . I needed a last minute appointment for my nieces graduation a few years ago. Got a same day appointment and was taken right away when i arrived for my appointment. Since the woman who started doing my pedicures choose to retire , I have had a few ladies help me . Both are very nice . I have had Lee the last few times and I love her . Today i walked in and the water was ready and Lee was waiting to greet me. It isn't this way every time . However every time is still a wonderful experience. Being in the service business myself sometimes time gets away from you or you are talking with a client and I might have to wait a little bit . But being a single mother and a working full time I don't mind the extra soak on my feet and some quiet time to relax . I have never witnessed anything but great service and the owner Julie making sure I am pre booked and I have everything I need when I leave . All the times I have been here I have never seen any service person ever be rude , racist to anyone . It is sad that when people feel the need to pick on people , women and men just trying to work hard . Especially in the climate we are in today we need to try and remember to be kind to one another and give people grace . Not more grief. Come check them out . My mom and daughter come here as well. So happy I found Nailtique! Its location in Sierra Madre near cafes, shops, and restaurants - very cute area. I've been having trouble finding a quality mani-pedi and have probably went to 10 different nail salons in the Pasadena area, the pedicures were always lackluster and disappointing. I always get the best pedicure offered to get the callus treatment and longer massage but they always left me feeling like I wasted money. Until now! The salon is very clean and welcoming. Tina is amazing for pedicures, she not only made my nails look beautiful but I felt so relaxed afterwards, I had no calluses left and she gave me a strong leg/foot massage. Amy is my go-to for manicures, she is also amazing. Amy is so meticulous and ensures your mani is perfect, even for me who gets standard gels (no extensions) she gives me the same care as someone who gets extensions.
