It's another one of those nights where I'm craving for sushi. Seriously sushi can be apart of my routine weekly. I decided to give this place a try and just grab something small on the go to meet someone upZ I picked up two salmon avocado rolls to go and total came out to be $7.08. The salmon was reddish not like the typical pink peach color I usually eat. Is this suppose to be different or rare? Wasn't sure exactly but I gave it a try and tested it. It was smooth in the mouth but didn't taste fresh as other sushis I've had before but it was decent. Nonetheless it kept me satisfied. I eat sushi at least 2-3 times a week and this sushi place exceeds any other sushi place that I have visited. I've spent $20 on a single roll in the city and this tastes similar to fine dining if not better. For only $3 a roll! I'm lucky enough to have this gem right by my house. They recently added new sushi rolls and appetizers to their menu, which are to die for. My friends and I usually order a few new things off the menu and share it. read more

Very nice place. I like it because it is cheap, close to work, and good quality. Now, I am spoiled weekly by Mitoushi on Richmond Ave, but a friend of mine persuaded me to try Nakata for lunch. The restaurant has a very authentic feel, lots of different color wood in the dining area. The sushi bar is in the back of the place, with all 3 sushi chefs working hard on the food, The lunch specials are $7 and up and you get a decent amount of food. I d def recommend. (perhaps hes using the same suppliers as Mitoushi?) But the food quality is def on par with Mitoushi. I never thought I d be able to say that about another sushi place. I was pleasantly surprised. Ordered a Chicken Teriyaki Dinner and straight to the garbage it went. The chicken tasted gummy and tough, as if; eating cartilage. Never Again would I purchase food from this place. Being a college student in staten island. Its hard to find a good sushi joint. I've been around to three, and mitoushi seemed to be my usual place, well until i started to get sick everytime i went there. Me and my girlfriend suggested that we should go try a different place. Luckily i found one really close to my home and it was amazing. The flavor of the sushi whole was different from anywhere in Staten Island. It wasnt the Best i ever had but it was the Best in Staten Island. I recommend the Salmon, Spicy rolls and the Tempura rolls. read more

I've had sushi in a few places on the island, trying to find something I enjoy. This is the only place I go to or order from now. There is a large selection of special rolls and you get 3 rolls for the price of 2. Comes out to about $30. That's more than 1 serving for me. I really like their green tea. The atmosphere is very cozy with the decorations and the lighting. When ordering out, the delivery doesn't take too long either (about 30 minutes), however, I usually will pick it up to make it faster (15 minutes). One of the best sushi places on the island! They have have specials on rolls and as low as $2.50 a roll. There quick and the waiters are nice. I enjoy the avocado salad, addicted to ginger dressing and even the fried ice cream is great too. They offer lots of different special types of rolls and have a great selection on foods from dishes like grilled chicken & beef to noodles. I enjoy coming here. read more

Today I went to pick up sushi and, upon seeing me, the worker I have seen from years of being a customer commented long time no see, that I gained weight, and that it was a bad thing. A lot of Staten Islanders aren't a fan of this place because of their service, which I agree is not the best. You will feel as though you are being hurried out, with the waiters/waitresses whisking your plates away the second they're close to looking empty. Chicken teriyaki was rubbery, when I brought it to manager's attention he said "that's how it comes", spicy tuna looked unappetizing, salad was barely chopped, best thing they offer here is the tap water. After we got the check, we paid with my Visa card and they wrote down my name and the security code of my card. Claimed it was in case of a charge back, obvious fraud attempt. Lots of arguing and lack of professionalism between the management and servers here. Very poor experience, would not visit again. read more

So my sister and I came to Nakata and ordered a pineapple fried rice with shrimp, the shrimp tasted like mold , Then we had the special roll sushi and one of the rolls that had tuna on top also tasted like mold , Very sad the health department should really look in to that , we told the manager and he seemed careless about it. read more

Being fairly new on Staten Island and even newer to Todt Hill, I was very happy when we discovered this place. The fish has always been fresh and the presentation exquisite. The two rolls for the price of three is a real good deal. But if you are like me and not a big fan of mayonnaise type sauce, order your rolls carefully. The atmosphere is nice and friendly and the service just attentive enough. Delivery is awesomely rapid and the woman who takes the order and the guy who delivers it have good energy. This is me and my girlfriends favorite sushi place on the island. The prices aren't expensive and the quality of the food is fantastic. The wait staff is friendly but a little disorganized, one time we had 3 different people ask us if we had ordered yet within 5 minutes and then no one came up to us for 10 minutes after. Usually my go to sushi spot. I'm giving 1 star due to the horrible customer service. Ordered a few rolls, had to throw more than half of it away. Tuna tasted too "fishy" and not fresh. When I calls just to let them know, not expecting a refund or anything, the person I spoke to practically screamed at me saying that the fish is delivered every day and that it can't not be fresh. Disappointed that I had to be spoken to so rudely. Nori in New Dorp is much better, a bit more pricey, but never have a problem. read more

The food never disappoints. As for customer service I find it to be average. They need to keep the clients happy as there is too much competition. Absolute nightmare, had an all out war with the manager over inedible chicken teriyaki which they took back (a full plate) and left on the check, then when my friend tried to pay with his card they wrote down the security code, very fraudulent, we had to make sure that that was taken care of as well. My kids order from all the time so i've had the food on several occasions and even ate at the place a few times. The food is pretty good and their deals on specialty rolls of buy 2 get the 3rd free is a decent deal. The fish is pretty fresh, though one of my favorite appetizers is bbq calamari. The place is usually pretty packed on friday nights and it can be hard to get a seat. Definitely plan to eat here again. read more

I've never written a bad review in my entire life, but unfortunately, I'm going to have to start with this one. I've ordered from Nakata tons of times and it was alright sushi, but the delivery people just kept getting worse and worse. I've never had a good experience with one of their delivery men. This most recent time, it reached such a point that I needed to type this up. The man rung my doorbell twice in a row and then rang it again 6 seconds later, not giving me enough time to even make it to the door. When I got there, without greeting me, the man says in an irritated tone, "Your house is very far." I just smiled, not knowing how to respond. He tapped his foot impatiently as I signed my credit card receipt, clearly not wanting to wait the 10 seconds it was going to take me to write my name. I can tell the guy was probably a jerk, but I gave him a tip anyway because I always try to give the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he's just having a bad day, you know? Everyone has bad days. I was in the service industry, I know you HAVE to tip, unless the service is so SO bad that you can't justify it. I give it to him and he frowns and says, "Only this much?" So unprofessional, I had no idea what to do. So I just smiled and thanked him for the food. It always takes them awhile to get my food, which is fine because it's usually at lunch hour, but I assumed I was far away because of how the delivery guy would guilt me every time he came. However, I just looked it up and the restaurant is only 8 minutes away. They always make me feel so terrible for only an 8 minute trip? I thought I was half an hour away or something because of how they treated me. To top it off, I got a roll today and the seaweed was so stale and gross, I had to throw the whole roll out. This isn't the first time it's happened either. If it was JUST the poor service, maybe I could suck it up and keep ordering from them, but I don't want to pay for "might be inedible" food and rude delivery people. My appetite is gone. read more
