The revueltas is bean, pork mixed: recommend that one. We did 2 of those and 1 spinach and it was perfect. We also got huevos y pancakes. The pancakes for some reason I feel like they make it similar to the papusas cuz it was like thinly sliced. Ain't nothing by wrong with that - just noticing. I liked it thin cuz it was filling enough to get our sweet kick. Service was on point. They got a small bar which was cool. Inside there is a few seating and you could probably bring a stroller but honestly just bring the car seat and put it in one of the chairs. Once I saw papusas on the menu compared to the typical benedict bs at other restaurants with the flower and string light, and cursive chalk board writing menus, I was like babe we gotta go here for breakfast lmao. Hella random but Google said this spot was busier than usual and there was like 2 tables seated when we got there. Not a knock on this spot at all - just don't trust everything your phone tells you besides what I write into the ether that is the internet for my Yelp reviews. Ok ADHD rant done.

Their menu is extensive and impressive; they have some all-star dishes on their permanent menu as well as a rotating daily menu with a legendary lineup of seasonal items. I really appreciate that they have dishes that are hard to come by such as lentil loaf and lasagna, and these never disappoint. The lentil loaf is unique; it is a little brick of lentils (not your traditional sliceable mush of breadcrumbs and minced veggies). It's very well seasoned and the tomato sauce on top is not overly sweet. The mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy and (very) garlicky greens make it a great meal. The lasagna is one of my favorite dishes. It's pasta-free and just made from layers of sliced zucchini and other veggies sandwiched with their delicious crumbly housemade cashew cheese. The herby tomato sauce is super flavorful. The side salad and garlic bread that accompany it are great also; an ultra comforting meal. We enjoyed the macro meal, although honestly not as much as the other dishes. The pan-seared tofu was delicious, but the arame seaweed salad was super seaweedy and salty - a bit much for me. I'm also not sure why they didn't serve it in a bowl, which would have made the rice etc. easier to eat. It seemed to be missing something - perhaps avocado, or a hunk of sweet potato. A few items at the Garden Cafe are a little perplexing, compared to how perfect most of their food is. The tempeh is just ok. It's heavily marinated in a sweet and salty sauce and kind of strange. Also disappointing that it's just a big brand tempeh rather than one of the local tempeh brands available in the area. The housemade focaccia is also bizarre. The texture made me think it was gluten-free (but it's not). Is it whole wheat?? If that's the case, awesome, but they should mention that on the menu, so you aren't taken aback when you don't get pillowy airy bread and instead get something flat and gray that could be mistaken for a biscotti. We LOVE the Garden Cafe and wish more places like this existed serving organic classic meals. We wish they would open a location in New York City, but until then, we will be making the drive!

Keep going...we were wondering if we were in the wrong place but the place is in the back! The vibes are warm, rustic, hunting cabin type with wood tables, wood stacked decoratively on the walls and antler type light fixtures. We sat at a table by the wood-fired oven and we loved it. That smoky wood fireplace smell We started with drinks, the guys ordered IPAs on tap...I went for the hot cider with a dash of bourbon. I found it light on the booze but I find that true most places. For an app, we shared a slice of toast topped with burrata. The thing was bigger than I thought. It was good. We decided to all order one of the specials, the short rib dinner with polenta and broccolini. Good Lord was it good. Huge short rib, delicious and tender, with a yummy Malbec Demi-glaze that was delicious. The rib sits on a big portion of polenta --seriously the best I've ever eaten. The broccolini was nice. I can see why they were running out of that dish for the night. Hubby ordered a mousse dessert that he enjoyed. I was too full to eat anymore. Our waiter was amazing with great recommendations and friendly as anything. I definitely recommend!!!!

This place knows how to make real good food. When we first walked in the staff seemed busy with lots of pizza delivery orders so we were expecting to wait but they told us it would be just a few minutes to get both of our subs. I ordered the Italian mix sub and he ordered the god father sub, we both got an Italian soda and a bag of chips. The total was $45 which at first I thought was a little steep but when we got our to-go order and saw the sizes I was blown away. These subs are MASSIVE. And DELICIOUS!!! I could barely finish half of a half at first. I had the rest for dinner and then shared the other half for lunch today. It's a sweet spot to stop for a quick bite on the way or to take on the road with you. They also have pizza by the slice for an even quicker option which can be taken on the road or they have a few tables to dine at. They have an excellent selection of drinks in the coolers like Italian flavored sodas, Brazilian sodas, and your typical Arizona teas and coke or Pepsi products. We were so impressed and sort of disappointed we'd held out so long on stopping by this place. Highly recommend. Portion sizes are large so that is something to consider but the prices are fair and the quality is top notch. Also I'd be remiss not to mention how kind and friendly the staff was despite being so busy. Can't wait to come back and try the pizza!

That being said, it is considered to be one of the treasures on this side of Kingston, NY on Route 28 and what it lacks in atmos, it makes up for in true star quality. This isn't my fave and thin, Patsy's Pizzeria in E. Harlem- but Steve's certainly does the job. Plus, these folks use FRESH mushroom and not canned crap for crying out loud. In all the years we've driven by here to head to Woodstock, I almost felt embarrassed that we've never noticed. But I picked up a plain slice and a mushroom in the middle of the afternoon since I was in the area already. You know how you go to some pizza shop and the pizza looks scraggly and almost dried because they've been sitting out all day? These don't. While they are placed on the partitioned glass shelf, somehow, Steve's pizza looks fresh and the finished product, tastes even better. In the 10 or so minutes it took me to get home, our 2 slices were still hot and traveled well. It's a bit doughy than what I like but it hit the spot. Honestly though, Steve's has a humble community feel that makes it exactly the kind of hangout you want to go to for shits and giggles.
