Homemade soymilk boba drinks? That's a first! I've somehow never encountered this combination through all my travels, including in Taiwan, China and SE Asia! But it makes so much sense, and after hearing about Nam Tao Huu, we had to make a pit stop over our long weekend drive down to Portland. Walking in on a Sunday afternoon there was actually a decent crowd inside. We ended up ordering on the kiosk since there wasn't a line there (and there was a line for ordering in person). We didn't have to wait too long for our drinks to arrive. Classic Soy Milk, 50% Sugar, Normal Ice w/ Boba ($8) - They only offer normal and no ice options (with the no ice adding an additional $1 charge). The soy milk is by default not sweetened and dispensed quickly from a container. They then use one of those standard fructose/cane sugar dispensers to sweeten to preference. At 50% sweet, it's pretty similar in sweetness to grocery store soy milk. The soy milk is fresh and deliciously beany in taste. Yum! Due to the overabundance of ice, 50% sweet is only good at the start - by the time the ice completely melts, the drink is much too diluted to detect much sugar, or soy bean flavor for that matter. The boba is actually really good, pretty much perfect. Surprising given that I'm not sure that many people order boba here. The pearls are smooth, sweetened well in syrup, and have the perfect level of bounce. I have no complaints here. Drink Rating: 5/5 Boba Rating: 5/5 Thai Tea, 50% Sugar, Cold w/ Soymilk Pudding ($8) - This drink consists of probably 80% soy milk combined with about 20% of Thai tea concentrate, squirted out from a squeeze bottle into a measuring cup, then carefully poured on top. It's more than enough Thai tea, giving the entire drink a fragrant roasty vanilla flavor, which complements the nutty and beany notes. The natural soy flavor isn't covered up at all like I expected. Soymilk pudding is another toppings that's relatively uncommon to find in the US. I always have to get it when I see it. In this case, it's scooped into the cup from a tub in thinner sheets, so while drinking, it manages to essentially crumble apart and distribute up the straw. While soft and tender, it adds a somewhat gritty mouthfeel and plenty of extra beany flavor. Drink Rating: 5/5 I love seeing a place with fresh soy milk drinks! I had the Soy Milk Matcha Iced drink and it was absolutely delicious! The café is super cute and thoughtfully decorated, making it a great spot to relax, catch up with friends, or get some work done. If you want good housemade soymilk this is the place to get it! My boyfriend and I stopped by this place to get some refreshments and it has been a place he had wanted to try. We were recommended the classic housemade soymilk and the soymilk slush, and then my boyfriend ordered the black sesame ball w/ ginger syrup. I would say the classic housemade soymilk did not disappoint and was quite nostalgic and homey. We felt the slush was too icy which takes away from the soymilk. We loved the black sesame ball w/ ginger syrup reminds me of my mom's che soi nuoc. It was a nice hot dessert after getting a nice lunch, I'd definitely recommend this place for soymilk and their tasty desserts/snacks. The decor and colors matched well in such a small place. I came across this place and had to give it a try. I was thrilled to discover that there were more Asian desserts in the area, and I wanted to try them. I got their house soy milk with 50% sweetness. They had a giant container with the soy milk, and I saw the employee scooping it into my cup. It was made in-house, and I really wanted to love it, but when I had it, I was disappointed by the quality. Do not get me wrong, it is good, but I do not think it is worth the price, as I can find a similar-tasting soy milk at my grocery store with the same flavor profile. Inside, they have some colorful mahjong inspired decor with a couple tables for seating. For their menu, they have a selection of different drinks and eats to choose from. Wifey ended up trying the Original Soymilk and I got the Longan Slushy. Both drinks had an authentic taste with great flavor profiles. I love Asian desserts so I was excited to try this spot soon after their opening. The decor is so vibrant with a distinct color palette and theme, it definitely made the space fun and pop. This is a super cute spot in NW and great for lactose intolerant people! The Milo was by far the most delicious drink we tried, with its mild sweetness and chocolatey taste. They do recommend 100% sweetness so maybe we should have. The toasted bread is ever so lightly toasted. I wouldn't mind a little more toasting. I love the layers in the bread! We were expecting the place to be busy and the line to be long due to the nice weather, but the line to order wasn't too bad since there was a self-ordering kiosk and an employee taking orders; however, the establishment was quite occupied from customers waiting for their drink orders though. A lot of the menu items/toppings were not available while we were trying to order and their soymilk slush wasn't quite ready yet so they gave an estimate of another 10-15 minute wait for it. The flavor of the soymilk was quite pleasant and fragrant. The drinks did not seem very consistent between our order though. We had two classic soymilk drinks with the same sweetness level but one tasted much sweeter so it was slightly off-putting. Overall, I wasn't too impressed with the drinks - for $7 a cup, I feel like you could find a half gallon of soymilk from an Asian supermarket around the area for a better deal. read more

Wow what a really unique shop to open in the alphabet district! I was intrigued to stop by when I saw the sign and didn't make it to their soft opening. Once you enter you're transported to a new place and really loved what they did with the decor and signage. Environment: it was a fun and colorful place! I love playing majong for fun and when I saw it I was like yay! Staff: they were friendly and kind. Food: I got the soymilk with matcha. It was a disappointment because there was zero matcha flavor and I paid extra for it. The soymilk flavor was strong but I personally think that I could buy the same style of soymilk at asian supermarkets (local brand) at a cheaper price or for a bigger portion. Oh my goodness, I have been waiting for this place to open for so long and finally got to try it! It was worth the wait! I got their hot classics soy milk with 50% sweetness. Very cute new soymilk addition to the NW district. Opened up in the summer of 2025. I was welcome by a very cute server behind the counter. She gave me a few recommendations. I ended up picking the Milo, which is the soymilk with cocoa powder top. I ordered it with red bean. I recall liking soymilk when I was younger, but this was not a drink I recommend on a very hot day. I thought it was just okay. I will need to try again to re assess. The "coming soon" sign had been there for so long and now it's finally open and it's just the best thing to have to beat the Portland heat right now. we went for their soft opening. the interior was decorated so incredibly cute, and the aroma of sweet soybeans made the place very welcoming. self ordering was easy and surprisingly, the order came out pretty quickly. if you like chocolate milk, the milo might satisfy your palate. the soymilk flavor does come through, but I found it to be pretty balanced with the chocolate. as for the thai tea, I found that the soymilk does overpower the taste of the tea. perhaps this was not the best combo. the slush was very airy and was not our favorite way of enjoying the soymilk. we also found their boba to be a bit overcooked. the true star here was the hot classic soymilk. although a bit sweet, the classic taste is pretty on par with the drinks you can find on the streets of hong kong. nothing special, but its classic for a reason. overall, I think their drinks and toppings are overpriced. however, because its more of a specialty cafe that we don't see much of in oregon, I think nam tao huu is worth a visit at least once for the experience! read more

What a fun new unique place on 23rd! The decor is really cute and feels very fitting. I did the soy milk slush and my partner did the classic soy milk and both were delicious and so filling.
