    Fried Dough

Conveniently located inside the supermarket. Somewhat of a hidden gem since I was not expecting the soups to be this good. Ordered the #12 and it was fantastic. The broth was full of flavors. Noodles were cooked perfectly. I didn't care for some of the (I believe) livers but did enjoy the beef and the shrimps (you get only two). If you do order the number #12 I suggest ordering a side of fried dough to dip and eat with the soup. Service was okay, even though the lady (she's been mentioned her before) got the incorrect order. No biggie though as they brought out the correct dish. Only reason complaint is that the tea cup that they gave me was dirty (had bits of dried up tea leaves inside the cup), but as some say, the dirtier the place the more flavors/know it's gonna be good. Overall ambiance was nothing special. It looks like your typical pho spot. Great food though, would recommend based on that.

A wonderful family own restaurant that is right inside of the supermarket. This restaurant has been a local staple for over 20 years. They specialize in local Penang dishes. Their most know for their Hu Tieu Nam Vam. The dish was flavorful with pork, shrimp, squid, liver, and kidney all of which are thinly sliced. The dish is served with fry with sauce or wet with a broth.

BBQ pork with crab patty over broken rice

Hidden away in a Chinese supermarket, it's a bit hard to find, but no it's pretty good. I ordered the broken rice with crab patty, bbq pork, on broken rice and an iced Vietnamese coffee. Both took a bit longer than expected to come out, even at 3 pm and only 1 other table occupied. I guess they make everything as ordered, so can't fault that. Broken rice dish was okay. Pork was bbq'd well, but too fatty. Everything else was fine, but there was no egg on top. I'm not sure if this has it on the menu, but elsewhere it usually has a pan fried egg. Iced coffee came pre mixed in a styrofoam cup with ice. It was okay, but I usually prefer the places that being the slow drip out for you and you can mix it fresh with ice. All in all, not the greatest, but not bad if you are doing some food shopping and have time to spare.

5 stars for ONLY ONE dish, Hu Tieu Mi Kho, any other dishes are ordered at your own risk. That mix of pho noodles and egg noodles help the taste and definitely have the DRY version. They add this dank sauce in the noodles but also serve the broth on the side. Add on some greens, pepper, mix it up (keep broth separate), and you're set! You could go for the regular soupy version because it's still delicious but WHY NOT have the best version when it's available??

    Condiments should always be clean.

The only thing I order from here is the congee with fried bread. It's a go to item if you're sick or hungover. Comfort food. The service here is mostly horrendous and I usually would skip this place if Cafe Saigon down the street is open. That's the reason I'm only giving this place 3 stars. Service could be much better. Plus side... there's plenty of parking and it's located within an asian market so if you wanna get some groceries then it's a one stop shop.

Stop in if you're looking for an inexpensive brunch or lunch. I enjoy much of Nam Vang's menu selection, which is largely Vietnamese. Their fish sauce is more watered down than I'm used to, but their banh mi is decent ($3 for charbroiled pork, $2 for a regular), packaged in an impressive roll, the bread thin and satisfyingly crispy (much better than when I first tried them years ago). The filling is where I gripe since there's not too much cilantro and the pickles are a bit large. They're no Cafe Saigon, but I won't dismiss their sandwiches anymore. The pho broth I've had is tasty and you can't beat their convenient location (next to the Hong Kong Supermarket), ample parking (and seating), and friendly service. FYI, many of the staff speak Chinese and/or Cambodian depending on who you're dealing with - and English too, of course.

No-frills Vietnamese restaurant, with limited Pho options. Their Pho soup base is good though, the same as their other dishes too.

The biggest surprise was the tái (eye-round steak), yet still retaining that pleasantly chewy texture of undercooked beef; the gầu (fat brisket) was thick and crisp, fragrant but not greasy--who would have thought I'd find brisket fat here? This showed the restaurant's precise control over the broth temperature and the thickness of the beef. Almost all phở restaurants claim to offer authentic raw beef or various cuts of beef, but very few can truly make customers feel the difference. The restaurant's decor is simple but spacious and clean; the service is average, but very efficient. Efficiency is essential for phở, otherwise the beef would be overcooked in the hot broth. After all, the essence of a restaurant is food, and for such affordable ones, it's gratifying to see them spend most of their costs on the food itself.
