Each temaki is already flavored with soy sauce and wasabi, so you do not have to do it yourself, but you can request for it to be separate. Definitely recommend the crispy chips with spicy tuna dip and kanpachi as they were great flavors. The rest were great as well. We then got a variety of hand rolls and my favorites were the spicy sea bass, toro, tuna poke, yellowtail, spicy crab, and uni. The cucumber hand roll was surprisingly good as well. One thing though, is that the small tables are placed so close to each other that you can literally hear every word of other people's conversations. Their whole menu is gluten free and absolutely delicious which is a dream for me! Not pictured is the furikake fries - which I highly recommend and always order. Our server was very attentive and present -- constantly refilling waters, taking our orders and removing trash from our table. I sat outside but the inside of the restaurant is modern and beautiful and the perfect setting for a romantic date night. I didn't try the appetizers and the desserts (which look good and might be good! So I won't be docking off an extra star). But the temakis weren't great. I got the signature but looking back I think the vegan option would've been less disappointing? The flavors fell short and were lacking compared to other temaki places I've been to. I was expecting for them to be rich in flavor, and for the sauces/toppings chosen to compliment the fish but they fell kind of flat and were lacking the traditional Asian flavors I'm used to. The vegan one might taste better because there would have been less of an expectation on my end to have certain flavors be combined with the fish options? I had an eggplant temaki I ordered in addition to the signature and i think that was the only one that stood out to me / wowed me. The temakis weren't served warm. I also did not enjoy having to remove the plastic wrapping off each one. It was confusing / a lot of work / I'm also not a fan of having to read instructions on how to remove wrapping off my food in order to eat it. I've never had to do this at any other temaki place so I'm wondering why that's the case here. Made a reservation for two on a weekend night, arrived 5 min early but we were forced to wait by the door 25min for seats to open up... Once seated we ordered apps and glasses of sake however, the server forgot about our sake so we're just sitting there waiting until the apps arrive. Now the really bad part, anything that was served cold was so cold it was almost frozen. both appetizers, the tuna crudo and the kanpachi were so ice cold they were flavorless... Unfortunately it was the same for any temaki served raw that we received. It's like they're pulling their fish out of the freezer right when the serve it, it should really be served near room temperature so you can actually taste the fish... The only good piece was served warm, a spicy shrimp temaki. One redeeming quality about the place is that the rice is cooked and seasoned nicely which was great. Had a reservation for 7:30 and table was not ready until 7:45. 15 mins may not seem like much but for a supposedly higher end restaurant, at least that's what the menu prices reflect, you'd think they would ensure that the table was ready. If someone goes over the allotted time then it's their responsibility to move the people or kindly ask them to leave and give enough time for our table to be ready. I don't even mind waiting if the food was good. Below mid food with a hefty price tag that left our party of 5 going to grab halal food from a nearby food truck after. The halal food was leagues better for the price. On top of that, I booked the place for my parents anniversary which I thought we'd be given some sort of dessert. Nope, nothing but I don't even mind because I wanted to leave there as soon as I tasted the first bite. Not that the food was bad, just so unbelievably average.
