I love this sushi place in Davis! Even if it is a bit on the pricier side, it is worth it! Ive gotten to know some of the staff their from going a couple of times and some even know what I like to order which warms my heart. I love their deep fried banana and donuts for desert. I legit have eaten so much once that I almost had to throw up . Once you start ordering you can't stop . You end up getting roll after roll, deep fried bananas after deep fried bananas. Sometimes they can forget to bring some of the rolls you've asked for and have to keep reminding them (because of all the other customers) but most of the time they're on it . Their rolls come with 4 pieces, which is nice because it allows you to try different rolls. You get multiple rounds with a limit of 5 orders per person per round. Since I came with my housemates, we each got different rolls to try, which included Alaska, Wasabi Salmon, Wasabi Hamachi, Ginza, Salmon Lover, Tiger, Capitol, Crazy, Sunrise, and Lion King, along with sake (salmon), albacore and hamachi nigiri. We also had their edamame, wakame (seaweed salad), and miso soup, which were all tasty. I'm a salmon girl, so my favorites were the Alaska, Salmon Lover, and sake nigiri. The salmon melted in my mouth and did not disappoint. The other rolls in my opinion were just meh. I was hoping for more of a seared flavor on the Ginza roll, which includes seared tuna. The rolls also have more rice than I would like on my rolls, so it fills you up faster. Save room for their donut! It is fresh, unique, and not like the regular sugar coated donuts you get at the donut shop. The first time I came here, I was too full to try but I'm glad I saved a bit of space this time. Customer service was alright. At the end, we felt a little rushed because our waiter gave us our check shortly after our last round came out and asked if we were done. This is by far the worst sushi I've ever eaten. My sister and I came in for all you can eat intending to get loads of sashimi. Went in to try it, and the first thing you notice is the smell, smells terrible inside. We got 1 roll that had four pieces called the Titanic. Rolls were thin and the tuna tasted very odd. After that bite we decided there wasn't anything else we wanted so we started ordering sashimi; however, they only offered nigiri.. we told them we wanted to just pay for what we ate and they said we'd have to order another half.. we did and it tasted worse than the tuna. This one was just salmon and cucumber and we only had one piece each. When he gave us the bill it cost 12 bucks. We mentioned the discount for cash and he said it was only for all you can eat. Honestly, worse 12 bucks I've ever spent. Grocery store sushi is by far better than that. I spent 12 dollars on a 5 minute experience. The waiter would not give us any sort of sympathy when it was very clear we were displeased. If you want all you can eat at the same price, go to Davis Sushi. My sister and I went after and it was 100x better with way more to offer. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.. won't ever come back. Lesson learned, stay away. read more

Sushi buffets are a double edged sword. On one hand, you can try every type of roll or menu item without much worry, but on the other hand, the sushi quality isn't as good and you don't really savor or really find the type of sushi that's memorable. Nami sushi is another sushi buffet style in Davis that charges about $18 for all you can eat sushi, appetizers, and desserts for about $18 a person with a few items costing an additional fee, mostly drinks and mochi. The place is small with about seating for about 40-50 total people including the bar. There's one television and runners who constantly check on the table to see if there are any orders to be placed. I was unfamilar with eating at buffet-style sushi place, and my girlfriend suggested we order multiple items at once to ensure we weren't waiting too long. There weren't too many rolls that became my favorite, but to me, the nigri, rainbow, and 49er roll were the best. Keep in mind, we continually made a list of the numbers we wanted, and kept checking them off as we looked the menu. We also ordered some chicken katsu, gyoza, miso soup, and fried oysters, all at no additional cost. I would stay away from any of the rolls that contained deep fried items or cream cheese; they just weren't too good and after a while, they all started to taste very similar. The quality of the fish was good, but many of the menu items will come with lots of rice, and depending on the type of roll ordered, the size and portions will vary. For $18 per person, I was very impressed with the service and sheer number of different types of menu items we could order. They also already add on a 15% gratuity to your bill. I think it's a very fair price especially considering how much we were able to eat. Maybe but it wouldn't be my first choice. Nami Sushi rocks! WAY BETTER than Enju Sushi, sorry, but not sorry. They also have a wonderful non-buffet menu which is great if you don't feel like paying $13 or $20 for buffet. Before arriving, I called to confirm if they have a non-buffet menu, and luckily they did! Upon arrival, I had asked for their non-buffet/regular menu, but our waitress was quite confused, but no worries, another waitress overheard and got us our menus. If you've ever been to Sac and tried Raku, this is what Nami reminds me of. Unfortunately for all you shashimi lovers, Nami does not offer Shashimi, but lucky for you, they do have nigiri! The main things I always get are the Green Dragon(tempura/avocado roll), Lion King(grilled salmon roll), gyoza, edamame, whatever nigiri and the donuts. The Lion King is especially delicious because unlike most rolls, it's made hot and is smothered with a creamy sauce which I have no idea at what it is. The raw fish they have is satisfying. I say this because I've never tried non-AYCE sashimi so I'm not sure how the real deal tastes like. But I'm definitely happy enough with their selections. They have all the same choices for lunch and dinner with the costs coming out to total ~15 and 24 respectively. Davis has about 3 sushi buffets including this one. I would rate Nami as #2 out of the 3 because of their options and service. The place is a lot smaller than I thought since it is a buffet but then again so are the other sushi buffets in Davis. Options: There's quite a lot of choices and most of them reminds me a lot of the choices that Raku (sushi buffet in Sac) offers. They have the special sushi, hand rolls, and 3 options for dessert (donut, sesame ball, and fried banana). My favorite would be the spicy scallop. I also liked how they put it all on a big platter if you order a lot. It saves quite a lot of table space :). But it gets hard to remember which is which. Service: Our server was decent in terms of speed and friendliness. Given that the place was somewhat packed, it took awhile for us to be greeted and seated. None of our orders were wrong though so kudos to her (we also had a table of 6)! Overall this place is decent to eat your weight in sushi so I would come again if I have a hankering for sushi. Price used to be $13 but now $15 for lunch. Menu selection is decent, and service is generally fast and attentive. I got food poisoning the past two times. I usually order appetizers and fried rolls, especially Lion King and the Spider. Compared to Davis Sushi Buffet, Nami only gives you half a roll versus the whole thing. The ratio between the fish and rice is disappointing since they overload on the rice. It's not even good rice because its extremely soft and clumpy. I felt extremely sick after an hour of eating and decided it must've been something else. However, I went there recently and got food poisoning again. Lettuce begin. I thought $13 for unlimited sushi was a great deal so I had to go check it out! This price is cheap if you want sushi. But I do had some problems when I was there. For example the rice was failing apart (barely lifted up the sushi from the plate), there was a powder texture on the raw fish, and the service was a bit busy (the place was packed and there was only one server). Even with the problems, I thought the server tried her best to make everyone happy, their edamame was delicious, and the price was affordable for an all you can eat! For an all you can eat sushi place, the price for dinner is pretty nice compared to the others here in Davis. The area was a little strange to me because the lot was pretty much empty during dinner time. What I found refreshing was hearing Cantonese behind the counter. I don't know if it's just me, but it makes me happy to hear a familiar sound... reminds me of my family restaurant. The service was really fast and courteous. The servers seem to be fairly new, so I didn't expect them to know the menu 100%. Our server recommended the spicy scallop and I loved it. One thing I did notice though was that there were a lot of rice on the rolls, thicker than I would usually see them at the other AYCE places. I kind of wish there were some more sashimi plates but at least they have them on rolls rather than just nigiri. As for the place itself, it gave a really casual feel but what made me feel most at home was seeing a wad of napkin wedged under a table leg to steady the table. Oh Chinatown, I miss you. read more

As far as sushi buffets go, Nami is okay if compared to places in Sac or the bay. But if you compare it to the other places in Davis, Nami is without a doubt the best place for AYCE sushi in town. The raw fish (mainly salmon) here is the freshest out of all the sushi buffets in Davis. I usually order a bunch of the sake nigiri to fill me up (and get my money's worth haha). I wish they had sashimi here but unfortunately they only have nigiri :( It's hard to eat all the rice that comes with it but I also feel bad for wasting it. I don't think they charge you for wasted food unless you leave a ridiculous amount. The rolls here are mediocre. They're basically a bunch of different variations of very similar ingredients. The seaweed salad is yummy and the sesame balls for dessert are pretty good as well! The servers are friendly and they usually check up on you regularly to ask if you want to order more food, but if it's busy they forget so you just have to call them over. read more

Sad to post my first bad review, but it has to happen sometime. The service was okay, but the fish was not fresh whatsoever. It could've just been that day, but everything was extremely fishy or tasted rotten. I got sick after eating here and would spend my money elsewhere. I didn't expect the BEST quality, because it is AYCE, but decent quality would've been nice. The Gyoza was probably the best thing they had, but that was probably frozen. read more
