Came here with my brother who lives in Newark and was raving about this new dumpling spot. This chain - - has been a consecutive Michelin star restaurant, however this location is newly opened. Their flagship restaurant is in Flushing, Queens and funny enough we heard the customers dining behind us saying "this is like the dumpling spots in NY." We arrived in a Friday night around 5/5:30 and our party of 5 was sat immediately. My brother has been once before so he had a lot of recommendations. To drink, we had the strawberry and rosé tea, the pineapple green tea and the grapefruit and peach green tea. I was hoping they had boba, but instead the teas came with nata jelly, which to me was very similar to a lychee jelly. My niece was very excited to come again to see "Robo Kitty". The robot brings the food to your table which is a cute added touch to make for a fun dining experience! To start, we tried both the durian and turnip and ham puffs. These were delicious, especially with some of their in house chili crunch oil. We then tried an assortment of soup dumplings - we got the Lucky Six Dumplings which is essentially an assortment of their soup dumpling options. I LOVED the black truffle and gourd luffa, so we ordered a separate order of those too as well as an order of the pan fried pork buns. Everything was absolutely incredible! The durian puffs were delicious, the soup dumplings were out of this world and the delicious drinks made for an outstanding meal all together. *this location is fairly new and seems not to yet have their liquor license, as the bar was totally empty. After finishing a winning match of the pickleball in Newport,, I was trying to find a good place to get a drink and have some delicious food and although I've been to the location in King of Prussia, I thought I'd try this one out. Happy hour every day from 3 to 6 with really good prices for premium drinks. I ordered my usual just regular pork soup dumplings, but I did get Westlake soup which was so delicious. It's like an egg drop soup with beef and cilantro It's so flavorful and it's really reasonable price. I love this place. Had higher hopes for this resturant but unfortunately it wasn't great. I ordered online for pick up and my order went through and then was canceled after 5 minutes. When I called there was confusion but the person on the line took my order over the phone. Very friendly and helpful but terrible online system. The dumplings and sides were unexciting. The bok choy was bland and the veg soup dumpling had no liquid in it. I also ordered noodles and the description online had them tossed in light sauce with green onions, when picked up they were plain with nothing on them at all. A very positive first experience here. We ordered online since we were in the area and our food was ready in 15 minutes on a busy Saturday afternoon. There were a few other orders waiting for pickup and a group just ahead of me for dine-in. Pickup was easy. We tried the following: Pan-Fried Crabmeat & Pork Buns, $11 - These were pillowy buns with more pork taste with a hint of crabmeat. Tasty and not spicy. Shrimp, Pork & Vegetable Wontons in Spicy Peanut Sauce, $11 - Delicious earthy sauce with chili oil and peanut sauce, a gentle burn. The wontons had a thin skin and soaked up the sauce nicely. Chili Crispy Chicken Bites, $15.95 - Nan Xiang's version of Chongqing Spicy Chicken, or Laziji. Very spicy, tasty small boneless fried chicken pieces with chili peppers and seasoning. Hot and good. Stir-Fried Rice Cakes with Shredded Pork & Potherb Mustard, $13.95 - Very mild sauce, it was our first time having rice cakes and we'd try more. They have a decent size menu including lots of soup dumplings and we really liked the dishes we tried. Parking was easy in front of 2nd & Charles next door. I usually do not review Chain Restaurants, but I feel this place deserves some good recognition. It may be the only Michelin Recommended restaurant in Delaware. It also has several other locations in the mid-Atlantic region as well. To start with, it has a good variety of menu items besides Dim Sum. You can find classic dishes and appetizers, as well as soup noodles or specialty fried rice. The interior is well decorated, with plenty of seatings. Serving staff are helpful, and you can actually see your dishes being prepared behind the glass walled kitchen. So if you happened to be in Delaware, and don't feel like driving to Philly Chinatown for good Dim Sum, try this place out. read more

I tried Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings after seeing a video about the location. The location used to be a jewelry store. We went during lunch time. I have had soup dumplings in the past, so I kind of knew what to expect. We started off with a cucumber salad appetizer. The cucumbers were cut pretty decent in size, but they did not have a lot of spice, which is perfect for me. We also tried the chicken lo mein. The dish was not very hot but it was still tasty. We ordered the pork soup dumplings (signature), the lucky 7 soup dumplings, the sweet and sour crispy flounder, cucumber salad, stir fried bok choy, spicy peanut wonton, and pork and shrimp wonton soup. The xiaolongbao (xlb) soup dumplings were the standout- delicious skin, savory soup, and a good size. I do prefer the signature pork- the others are good and are more ground pork wrapped around whatever filling it is (ie pork and crab have the crab in the middle of pork meatball). The flounder was not very crispy, unfortunately, and was one I could have skipped. The cucumber salad was delightful- fresh, light hint of sesame oil, just the right amount of salt. Would definitely order again. If I was craving bok choy, I would order that dish again also but it wasn't anything you couldn't make at home if you can baby Shanghai bok choy, garlic, and chicken broth/chinese cooking wine together. I also think the spicy peanut wonton and pork/shrimp wonton soup are good but not standouts here. I was very surprised and happy to see they make their own soy milk- you can really taste the soybean and just wish they would boil it with pandan like they do in parts of SE Asia. Walk in and we were greeted by DEAD FLOWERS from their recent grand opening. DEAD SERVICE was awaiting us but in all the years of eating dim sum/dumplings I have never had a restaurant staff so overly focused on taking away a steam basket's lid while food was still inside waiting to be eaten. These folks were driven to take away that lid. Really incredibly awful service. Inattentive service. Forgetful service We actually watched employees walk by talking on their cell phones. And then out of nowhere the green beans and noodle dish were slid onto the table from behind me and the beans had no serving utensils. Super excited to have access to great soup dumplings in Delaware again! Stopped by on a recent Saturday night around 5:30 pm and found there to be about a 45 min wait. Thankfully, there's a nearby bookstore to wander if you don't want to hang in the crowd at the restaurant, and they use an app that keeps you updated as to how many parties are in front of you. Once we were seated, our server greeted us quickly, but we hadn't really had a chance to make any decisions for ordering yet --- we wound up having to flag her back down later as the restaurant was super busy. She was friendly and helpful, but definitely kept busy enough that there were some minor oversights (ex: we had to ask for dishes for dipping sauces). We decided to lean into their specialty and ordered 3 options of soup dumplings: original pork, pork and crab, and veggie (as I tend to lean more plant-forward in my diet). I don't think I'd call the veggie dumplings soup dumplings --- they don't have the broth that the others have, but they were solid vegetable dumplings nonetheless. However, the actual soup dumplings were both delicious. The skin is thick enough that they don't break open easily, but thin enough not to be the dominant flavor/texture. The broth was super flavorful. We particularly enjoyed the pork/crab combo dumplings and look forward to trying some of the other options. The soup dumplings came out quickly... faster than our drinks, in fact. Luckily, they brought my peach and lychee tea in a to-go container, so I was able to enjoy it at home. I was intrigued by their dessert ube red bean bao and had to try, but I don't think I'd order again. The filling was the typical sweet red bean paste, but the bun itself was bland. Located near a fantastic 2nd hand bookstore and perhaps the greatest Asian market Delaware has to offer lies Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings an absolutely wonderful food destination!! When my friends and I go there our battle plan is simple. Fill the table with as many dishes as possible, sharing till the table is clear and then perhaps go in for seconds. Seconds has not happened yet which is a testament that Nan Xiang doesn't mess around the first time, they fill you up!!! The Dumpling House itself, which I feel is an apt description, is a large almost cathedral to dumpling goodness .. It is very roomy with high ceilings and many tables and booths. A large section of one wall holds a glittering and well stocked bar ready to prepare you all sorts of tasty cocktails to go with your feast. Our latest foray to Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings had me start off with a Spicy Pineapple Margarita whose here name had my taste buds going!!! It is was quite delicious and well balanced between spicy and sweet. I choose the spicy beef soup dumplings, the shrimp, pork, and cabbage dumplings, the classic chicken soup dumplings, beef wrapped in scallion pancakes, and the marinated cucumber salad which is always refreshing!!! Looking at the rich menu, I noted to my friends that nobody probably gives the soups, or ramen dishes that are on my the menu the love that they probably deserve as most people, myself included, get so dumpling focused. One friend ordered the Sweet & Sour Soup to test the theory. We also ordered shrimp & pork dumplings, and crabmeat dumplings. Shortly thereafter the waves of food and dumpling variety began filling the table!! It is amazing how fast, fresh, and piping hot everything that is brought to us. The cucumbers, and scallion pancakes are the first to go along with the top level of dumplings in the bamboo steamer, that layer was the pork & shrimp variety. My friend made short work of his Sweet & Sour Soup saying it definitely did not disappoint. Very Yummy !!! As I found myself getting to the bottom of my spice pineapple margarita and we had reached the last level of the dumpling steamer, the spicy beef dumplings! Definitely the favorite of the table!!! Gazing at the near empty table the question was raised, should we get more? Each of us smiled, satisfyingly full but in a healthy feeling way and decided we had happily had our fill. Stopped in for our first time to this restaurant on a rainy evening boyfriend date. Had the opportunity for some delicious soup dumplings, pan fried crispy noodles, soy bean drink and sweet/salty tofu pudding. Melody had the extreme pleasure of hearing our boyfriend rant as we devoured course after course of warm freshly prepared dishes. The seasonal seafood with the cooked down veggies contrasting the pan fried yellow crispy noodles. The sweet tofu pudding won out against my salty tofu pudding with fried dough stick that will be my breakfast tomorrow. The winner of course is the soup dumplings with the different colors having a different flavor profile like crab, truffle and abalone. I've been (im)patiently waiting for this place to open for the last 6 months and I'm glad to say it was worth the wait! We've needed a solid Dim Sum spot here in NDE and this one doesn't disappoint. We came during the soft opening and expected kinks and issues and were pleasantly surprised to run into neither. We were quoted a 40 min wait time but it was really 10 min so a great start. After browsing the menu, we selected a good range to try to get a feel for the flavors. The Nan Xiang Soup dumplings (pork) had a fragrant and light but flavorful broth with a medium skin - just thick enough not to tear but not too much it's a huge mouthful. We liked the flavor of the Scallop and Pork soup dumplings but the skin was so thin it tore and we didn't get to enjoy as much of the broth. The Shrimp & veg wontons with spicy peanut sauce are the hidden menu gem and bargain for the price, add it to your order if you are on the fence. I didn't read the description of the Shanghai Sui Mai and missed the Glutinous rice in the description- not my favorite but I can see why people appreciate it. The scallion pancake with sliced beef is heavily- crispy exterior, tender beef inside, a great flavor combo. Now that we've tried it I know we'll be back again to try more, and judging from the crowds still there when we left this will be a popular spot. read more

Not sure why there's such a hype and Michelin recommend. The skin for the soup dumplings are pretty thick. The really good ones are thin and just strong enough to not break. The soup was good and the meat is so-so. The shrimp dish with mayo was pretty good. But everything else we ordered were really just ok. Not bad but not worth the hype. The decor is very nice and reminds me of PF Chang. Service was great. There was no line when we went on a Saturday around 6 but then it got busier. I am not sure if I would wait in line for this. Nan Xiang never disappoints. The soup dumplings are obviously a total must-order: perfect wrapper-to-soup ratio and insanely comforting. But honestly, the rest of the menu holds its own just as well. The garlic cucumber salad is super refreshing and crisp, which balances out the richness of the dumplings perfectly. Plus, the stir-fried udon noodles were incredible, with a great chewy texture and packed with flavor without being overly greasy. I'm going to give Nan Xiang five stars despite one major issue I have experienced in my two trips to this establishment. Why five? 1. A restaurant of such repute coming to little ol' Delaware is a major coup for the First State. 2. My taste experience was far superior to my first Nan Xiang in Cherry Hill, NJ. 3. The issue is likely one that can be resolved over time and practice. What was the issue? The skins at the bottom of the soup dumplings often tore when trying to pick them up. This taints the whole soup dumpling experience. I guess a little thicker skin on the base of each dumpling? Other dishes were excellent. The Pepper Steak, which isn't a preferred entree for me at a takeout restaurant, was a real winner here! We've ordered it both times and wished we had ordered more. Beautiful dining room makes you feel like you're eating at an upscale restaurant. And the kids will love the robot. read more

First time here. They seem to be popular. Although there were a bunch of tables, we still waited for about 20 minutes. Food were ok, my wife and I were not impressed. The szechuan wonton was dispointing. They were over cooked and the wrapping skin were broken, every single one. The pan fried noodles were deep fried so the sauce couldnt get to the noodles so they were dry. The soup dumplings took a little while to come but that's expected since they made it fresh there. The rest that we ordered came out very fast. So fast that it almost seemed like they were all pre-made. They tasted fine though, just wondering. Services were good, she was friendly and courteous. My wife and I are fans of the unique xia long bao at the Nan Xiang location in Cherry Hill, NJ. The recent opening of this Newark branch just off the highway pleasantly surprised us when we needed to take a last minute lunch stop while traveling. Despite arriving shortly after opening, the cavernous dining room was already mostly filled with patrons. We nonetheless were seated immediately in an amply sized booth, a welcome touch as we were with our baby. The first dishes to arrive to our table were the special spicy chicken and the peanut-chili wontons. The former represented an addictive take on Chongqing chicken with tender morsels of fried chicken tossed in dried chilis and aromatics. The chicken remained crispy throughout our meal and the pepper blend had an appetizing mala flavor. The wontons were ok - we found the sauce too peanut forward and heavy for our taste and would pass on these next time. Our soup dumplings took quite a while to arrive from the kitchen (possibly forgotten?) but were worth the wait. We opted for the gourd luffa and the scallop XLB. The gourd option has a slightly bitter and herbal, vegetable taste that pairs surprisingly well with the rich soup. The scallop variety adds extra umami and subtle sweetness to the broth. Both varieties of dumplings arrived well constructed with sturdy, chewy skins and ample soup content. We ended with fluffy ube red bean bao which possessed the perfect level of sweetness and cloud like texture. Do note that the menu for soup dumplings seems a bit more limited here than at other locations, and certain varieties we enjoyed elsewhere were not listed on the menu. The ambiance here feels clean and modern, though I do wish the restrooms had changing tables given how popular the restaurant is with families. Service overall was polite and friendly, with the only gaffe being the long delay for our XLB. Overall, we are happy to have stumbled upon this location of Nan Xiang. The soup dumplings here are quite good, and despite a so-so wonton dish and some service delays we look forward to returning. read more

12/30/2025 I've been eyeing this place since I started going to the Asian market down the road for awhile so when my grandma went with me I knew this was the perfect time. It's lots of parking around this strip but the one directly next to the restaurant is pretty small maybe 25 spots and like 8 are handicapped. I'm guessing this recently opened because it was packed. They have a QR code to scan to be put on a waiting list and a rewards program with toast if you planned on coming back. The wait was about 15ish minutes with a small seating area just off to the side. Our server Jolie was great (it was her 2nd day to y'all be nice to my girl) she helped us with recommendations and checked up on us constantly with all the other tables she was managing. I like that this place doesn't use artificial dyes on the drinks or food cause who really needs red dye 40 in everything right. I got the raspberry ice tea and my grandma got the pineapple tea both were good my grandma even got another one to go. They have a little flip card with instructions on how to eat the dumplings if it's your first time ( which it was) the sauce ratio did us well. We started with the fried spring rolls that came out piping hot and crispy the sauce was alright. Then we had the short ribs ( the wet ones on the chefs specials) and they were soooo tender practically falling off the bone in a pool of sauce and bok choy. The pork dumplings were alright I felt like they were missing some flavor but the crab and pork were delicious. A drop of the sauce completed the perfect bite. They have sports playing on the tv by the bar and you can watch the chefs making dumplings in the back.
