Really great Irish pub vibe. A lot like cheers, it seemed everyone knew each other and very welcoming to newcomers. Had the pulled pork sandwich and a few different drinks, would definitely go back.

One of the best dive bars in NYC. Would recommend stopping if you're in TriBeCa or Chinatown - Whiskey, beer or another libation! Super atmosphere and relaxed vibe. Don't hesitate to grab a table in the mezzanine overlooking the bar. The eats ain't so bad too!

I love Nancy's pub!!! One of my favorite pubs here in the city. The tuna sandwich was delicious!!!! With a nice crisp glass of Sauvignon blanc. The bartender is a sweet woman and very attentive. Nancy's pub is quaint and cozy. You wouldn't know it's there unless you knew it was there.

This place is 100% just a classic dive bar in a good way! It was small place but had decent bar seating and a few tables. It also had a shuffle board which was fun to play. We didn't order food so I can't speak to that but all of the drinks we got were good! Additionally, the drinks were super affordable especially for NYC. The bartender was nice and also did a great job of managing all the orders alone even when it got busy.

Bartender incredibly rude. We were just having a good time on a Sunday afternoon after a couple of friends finished a half marathon and we were playing the shuffle board game and they asked us to keep it down. Now I would understand if we were incredibly drunk or loud but honestly we just had a couple of drinks and we were just having a good time. Drinks weren't event than good. Will not be back. Bar weirdly small. Kinda didn't like it at all. Everyone very rude.

I visited this pub last weekend and had such a fun time! The place was buzzing with Halloween decor and people dressed up in costumes. My friends and I wanted to visit Blood Manor for their haunted house and this was the perfect place to hang out before. The drinks were tasty (but maybe not too strong). The bartender was really nice, she was quick with our order and had some good recommendations including their frozen spiked coffee and frozen marg.

Some co-workers and I ventured out to this pub in a storm from the hotel to have a drink (or two) and debrief from a business-y day. It was like a scene from a movie where we ran in the door, slammed it shut behind us, and genuinely welcomed to their establishment and thanked for braving the weather to pay them a visit. How nice. A double of Tullamore Dew for me, Basil Hayden, and Woodford with a few ice cubes for round one and we were set. I switched it up to a Dark and Stormy to represent the weather for round 2 and they were Brought over to the table. It was a nice, quiet place to have a discussion without yelling over music or what some people call music. I'd totally go back if I was in the area. Thanks to the staff for the friendly, excellent service.

Great whiskey & scotch selection, best prices in the TriBeCa neighborhood, great burgers, wings, and fries, and delightfully tacky decor. What else could you possible ask for in a dive bar? Great ambiance, history, and vibe. You can trust any place that has a shuffle board to make for fun times, and the music is all over the place (in a good way). If you're ever in the neighborhood, this is your dive bar after a long day at the office, or while waiting to meet a friend, or to even just spend your whole time here. It's a hoot.

i highly suggested not to enter this bar...all the bartender is rude and kicks you out if you dont tip them and banned you for life and they made the security push me out even tho i was leaving a nice way. if im drunk i highly dont know what im doing how the freak am i gonna tip if im drunk as hell. i really used to love this bar but now how they treating me like trash even tho im a generous customer and just enjoy the vibes. they bar really small. i wish i could give them 0 stars review.

After dinner and cocktails at Spring Place I was excited to head back to Ben's "small place" on Franklin. He had the trifecta in Tribeca the ladies want. Over 6ft, family money and he didn't once mention crypto currency or interest rates on the first 2 dates. (Yes this trifecta exists in other neighborhoods too like Brooklyn heights or the west village, but I tend to redecorate every year or so, so I don't want to hear about how we can't throw away your great aunts floral couch...I'm sorry it's gotta go.)He was doing well. The bar is low guys. It also didn't hurt that when I Google'd him his grandmas AD tour of the family Nantucket house showed up....it was on the first page I didn't even scroll. So when he said let's grab one more I was concerned I hadn't given the right vibes...I wanted to go to his place. I had the perfect outfit combo of sexy librarian yet respectable mate for grandma to meet, only one coat of lip gloss to prove I cared about my looks but not too much. Respectable 2 inch Tom ford era Gucci sandals and some vintage Celine, with my blue light glasses. When he opened the door to Nancy's I knew this place was a good vibe. Billy Joel was playing, a mix of teamsters and finance bros filled the place. He grabbed my hand and took me to the second floor. From our perch we watched and ate more. Tequila sodas appear along with mozz sticks and pizza. Ben wasn't fighting fair. I wanted him now. I pictured sitting on his grandmas patio, she called a veranda, sipping a south side as Ben brought me chicken nuggets this summer, it, he was perfect. I said I had to use the rest room (the only thing I don't recommend about this place is their bathroom), instead I went to the bar and paid the bill. Walked back upstairs and whispered in his ear "we are going to your place now". He nodded. I think I may have a beach house/boyfriend for the summer. Guys take girls to Nancy's. It's a sure thing. Girls this place is full of cute tall guys. Bonus points if they have a 2500sqft place down the street like Ben

Best dive bar. It may be about the cheapest bar in the city. Nancy Whiskey Pub is a longtime favorite. Lots of names are scribbled on the walls everywhere. The bathrooms are scary but it's fun to read the walls. A lot of action takes place at the main bar. It gets crowded. This is hard to find a seat at even in the afternoon so you can imagine how crazy it is at happy hour. By the name of the place you can also imagine whiskey is the drink of choice. They have tons of the common brands plus more select versions. It's about $3 for wells at happy hour, and that's about the cheapest you can get in the city. The more select stuff like the Jameson Black Barrel is about $10 or so. Food is typical stuff that's greasy and fried. Things like burgers, fries, and wings. Another room is located upstairs and it's cramped. The ceiling is extra low so grab a seat and sit. It also has fun activities. Shuffleboard is a popular game. They have tournaments.

I do not know where people get off calling this place a dive bar. If you are looking for a place where people enjoy themselves and let their hair down then swing in to NWs. Keep an eye out for a fellow named Rob Roy as he provides sheer entertainment. read more

My boyfriend and I were in the area and we stumbled upon this bar. The bartender refused to serve me. Probably because I did not fit her "crowd" or typical customer. It's a dive bar but nonetheless, my boyfriend and I did not fit in there. Overall the place was OK, typical dive bar but due to the way I was treated I never return there. read more

This is normally the kind of place we would love - local dive bar with low priced pitchers of beer, juke box, and a low-key atmosphere. It was exactly what we were looking for last night. However, we were seated right in front of the shuffleboard table which meant my husband was getting backed into by every guy bending over to play. So, when 2 spots opened up at the bar, we grabbed our pitcher and moved to the bar. The bartender, Kat, gave us attitude immediately - rudely asking us if had closed out our tab at the table (we hadn't run a tab) even though she had poured our pitcher. She then rolled her eyes at us when we explained why we moved. We couldn't finish our beer and leave soon enough. We made sure to pay our waiter, not Kat for our pitcher. Too bad one bad apple ruined what could have been a great night. read more

Cheap food and beer, what more do you really want from a bar. Coming to Nancy's Whiskey getting a couple beers and a burger or chicken sandwich is one of life's simple pleasures. Make sure to get the onion rings they are perfectly fried and crispy. Nancy's is just a great place to do and relax it's cheap in a not cheap neighborhood and the crowd is good. Plus the bartender is always friendly and they have shuffleboard. read more

Good old fashion dive. The blonde middle-aged bartender might be the most fierce broad I have ever encountered. You try to ask for a drink before she recognizes you, or play her shuffleboard the wrong way, she will come out from behind the bar with razor blades and lemon juice. Act right or this "Ride or Die Bitch" will throw you through a wall. read more

"I love this bar!!!! It's my kind of place!!!" Toby Keith Best part of my business trip! How do I begin to tell you how hospitable Kathy is? Kathy is beyond bomb.com. Coming from So Cal I felt so welcome. My dog's 4th of July Balboa Island picture is on their wall. Bought souvenir shirts for my friends and they all wear with pride. With all my business trips this shirt is most loved. Very cool place and again who doesn't love Kathy. Hope she comes to visit in So Cal! The jukebox is rad...I love this bar. I've been here a few times and each time, I've always enjoyed myself. It's kind of a small place, even though the upper level makes it look bigger. But I went up the stairs to check for additional seats and it was a tiny space with 2 tables. The bar area is more fun any way. You have shuffleboard, a jukebox to select music, and... the bar. The bartender is really nice and she knows exactly what you were drinking, so if you've got an almost empty cup, she'll come to you and ask if you want another. I was also here for New Years-- no cover charge like many places usually have for this event. And the bar gave everybody a glass of champagne to ring in 2009... that was pretty awesome. read more

It's as cheap as a dive can be. A mix of loud Wall Street suits and random grunge types but the drinks are reasonable and the food is pretty delicious, as far as grease is concerned. And if you're worried about taking the subway home at night, it's a pretty hopping corner for cabs. You won't have trouble there. read more

WOW!!! Bar tender was a big crazy. Our bartender wan an older gentlemen who I found drinking and cussing to himself the whole time we were there. This bar makes no apologies and has cheap drinks, a few cool games and an edgy appeal. It's divey and if that's what you want this is your spot! read more

I love this place been going for many years... good booze/food/people. Now about the shower outside in case you were wondering... OK it's like this: Look around, it's close to the Court House, many of the patrons are Cops and COs who go there to unwind after a long day of dealing with assholes. Hint: Don't be an asshole, you WILL get a shower... and if you are a real jerk your next shower will be on Riker's. Now just think about that for a moment... an a-hole free dive bar. Sound too good to be true but it is. read more

I've been in Tribeca for 20 months and the only bar I call home is Nancys. My Friday lunch run with Melissa and Lynne is sacred. And after work I go there just because..just because it's the best crew there is. Cat is the best bartender who greets me every time with our handshake and is constantly checking in to make sure got all I need. I've been all around the island but have only ever felt right at home in few establisments...Nancys with its ambience and crew including Cat and Jennifer make this place extra special for me. I'm moving to midtown in a week and can honestly say Nancys and her crew will be the only reason I frequent Tribeca from here out...Thank you ladies...you're truly epic. read more

aka, I'm gonna be eating this in like 10 minutes. and I'm so excited. I love coming here for lunch. It's like, you step in the doors and suddenly the world of florescent lit cubicles is a millions miles away (fact - it's way less then 1 mile away). You forget it's a work day completely. You forget what your job is. Your only job now is to listen to classic rock radio and relax and let the kind hearted waitress present you with a perfect plate. Seriously, the burgers are perfect, unassuming, meaty, juicy, melty cheesy and you can get out of here having spent less then $10. Another perk - if you're feeling up to it, no one will lift an eyebrow if you have a beer with lunch. Not that I do that of course. read more

I came here for a happy hour on a Friday afternoon for a friends birthday. I should have been weary when I was walking over from the subway through what seemed to be sketchy back alleys. When I finally arrived it seems like a typical dive bar, with an older crowd and loud music. The vibe just wasn't for me, I'm still unsure how our friends picked it. They do seem to have various drinks and beer on tap however no specials or happy hour deals. Overall very crowded and it seems to be mostly regulars. Definitely not for me, I don't foresee coming back soon. read more

BEST BAR IN NYC! Went as a recommendation from the ladies at Harley (Wendy and Bridgette) and it was the best decision ever. So well priced for NYC. This place indeed has character! It's a dive bar- so it's what you would expect and more! I love these kinds of places- this is where stories are made! The bartender was more drunk then the people in the bar- which was totally fun! Just watch your money on the bar as I noticed a few times he had trouble counting the money out. Just lay your money down for each drink- bring singles and you will be fine. Your at a dive bar so need to use your credit card:) Tip the bartender as he truly makes the place what it is! Go with the intent of going just to drinkand not give a **** and you will have a great time! I will go back again for sure! read more

Solid dive bar. Food is your normal bar food burgers, chicken fingers and fries. Great prices especially for TriBeCa. Burger only costs $6 and beer is reasonably priced as well. Shuffleboard is fun but it's only a half table. read more

Seriously eff this place. People think it's this charming dive bar with a shuffleboard table - true. The bartender is an alcoholic who won't serve you drinks - total asshole. It's like you have to earn your shitiness before they will take you seriously and serve you a drink. There were 12 people in the bar and the blacked out bartender was regaling someone with bullshit story and when I finally got his attention to ask for a beer - he sniped back "hey I'm working here". Fuck this place. read more

This place is the best shithole in the city. If you're under 5'8", make sure to walk upstairs and enjoy the fact that your head will just skim under the ceiling. I love me some Nancy Whiskey. read more

The blonde bartender was terrible! Not even a huge crowd but she decided we weren't her "type" we could only order through my friend who happened to share the same fav. Football team. She ignored us purposefully, I am sure she achieved her goal, but we will never return. Good luck on retaining customers besides your 5 friends. read more

Stopped in here for a pint while I waited out the rain on a Sunday afternoon. Place is certainly a dive but not bad on the setting front. It;s got some big windows up front so it wasn't too dark. The tvs had sports on and the bartender was efficient and nice. read more

Nope, I still didn't love it. I went to Nancy's to watch the election results come in, and despite the obvious energy and excitement that evening, I felt the pitchers were on the small side, drink prices were higher than those advertised on their website (still reasonable, though), and the television screens were old. On the upside, the chicken fingers and fries combo basket was the perfect greasy accompaniment for the beer. Sorry. Can't jump on the Nancy bandwagon. read more

Super dive! Had my 23rd birthday here (a month late due to an unavoidable gallbladder removal) and had a great time. Great prices, strong drinks, and a very low ceiling yet cool upstairs seating area. Definitely a good time - get there early for seating. read more

Nice small dive - here's why: Let me start by saying that this place is already exciting because it helped me discover a new street for myself (Lispenard). The whiskey was good, and of course they have a great selection. We ordered manhattans, whiskey sodas, and 7&7s. All were fair, but tiny ($7). What I really dug was the vibe. It's hard to find a bar in NYC that isn't packed and isn't full of yuppies. This place was just that. read more

There's a spot across the street where one shot was 9 bucks. We made a solemn vow never to return. So when my friend started dropping 4.75 per Jack shot, she was even more excited than usual. The prices weren't terrible and the music was mid-south, Johnny Cash and Elvis. We had a nice sized crew and kept cleaning french fry baskets over some beers as the night grew late. Good spot overall, though what pushes it into 4 stars is that one of my friends who was simply crazy about it. read more

Terrific drink and shot specials which won't break the bank. Dim lighting, graffiti on all the walls, plenty of seating in it's narrow space, along with a chill non-pretentious vibe. Just a cool cheapo grungy dive bar you normally don't find up in this part of town. My type of joint.

We were intrigued by the name and reviews describing it as a "punk rock" dive bar. It was about 4pm when we got there, and there were a few patrons taking a break from the heat. We were looking for a dive and we found it: small and dark, festooned with graffiti and stickers, and there was indeed punk rock playing--perfect. We bellied up to the bar and my eyes went right to the frozen margarita machine--yes, please. It was heaven on a 95+ degree day. The hubby got a beer and bourbon. The drinks were cheap and the bartender was nice, even gamely posing for a drawing I did of him on a Post-It that went up with all the other little drawings behind the bar. Definitely a worthy stop.

The Amazake Kick was balanced with just the right amount of sweetness, making it a fantastic starter. For food, we ordered the scotch egg, sliders, and fish and chips. The scotch egg was solid, though the sausage layer felt slightly dry this time around. The sliders were great, while the fish and chips were decent--nicely crispy, but the fish needed a bit more flavor seasoning. We tried several other drinks throughout the night, and my top three recommendations would be the Amazake Kick, Hotmail, and Lock & Key. If you're searching for a cozy spot with great drinks and light bites, this place is definitely worth adding to your list!

Taking off a star because I had a weird experience with the people at the front. I'm currently recovering from an injury and I'm in a pretty obvious neck brace. I was visiting with two people who were on their way and would be arriving in about 10-15 minutes and the people at the front told me I couldn't be seated until they arrived. I understand that this is normal protocol, but I pointed out my neck brace and asked if an exception could be made because it's significantly more comfortable for me to sit down (and there was no room at the bar). They said that their manager wouldn't let them do that, and that they couldn't seat me until the rest of my party was there. There were tons of table tables available the entire time and when my friend arrived about 12 minutes later, they seated us, I totally could've sat the whole time and it wouldn't have been a problem. Not the end of the world and I probably could've pushed it harder, but it definitely was a little awkward!

Given the hell theming for the bar, the bathroom is a 180 and while using the Lou, you can listen to the bible being recited. Theres also a spooky surprise if you press the button in the bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom, it is at the bottom of some decently narrow stairs. So, try and stay sober enough for stairs or you may fall. Go to this bar. You will have fun.

I arrived in 2008 with very little, and when Graydon Carter revived the restaurant in 2009, I was beginning a rise of my own, first at a large global bank and then, to my astonishment, at one of the city's most powerful investment firms. The suits were daily, the walls were gold, and the pressure was so consuming that even success could feel like a form of attrition. After a few years, I moved to a smaller firm with Southern roots, where the culture was more humane, the work gave me greater autonomy, and I produced some of the strongest results of my career, even within an industry still governed by fear, greed, and status. Inside, the red booths, low lighting, generous spacing, and hand-painted monkey murals made lunch feel ceremonial without becoming stiff. The room was timeless and handsome, with polished service, quality food, and the subtle assurance of a place where you could be proud to bring someone important. I especially remember sitting in one of those booths with two mentors, each only a few years older than I was and therefore close enough in vintage to feel relatable, trustworthy, and genuinely within reach. One had entered my life after I left the larger firm and helped me understand an earlier chapter that had also ended abruptly and, at the time, felt deeply unfair; the other had guided me through the smaller firm where I finally found a more sustainable way to work. Over that long lunch, I introduced them, we discussed several promising ideas, and for a moment my career seemed to have reached the point where relationships, experience, and opportunity were finally converging. One of those ideas consumed an extraordinary amount of my time and energy, and I believed it might become the foundation of my next chapter. Instead, the arrangement eventually turned on me, the role I thought I had earned never materialized, and the business itself sputtered. My professional life, financial footing, and pride all collapsed just as COVID was beginning. Then Monkey Bar closed in 2020, which made the ending feel almost unnervingly complete: the restaurant, the city, and the version of myself built around New York finance all went dark at once. For years, I experienced that ending as devastating and unfair; now I can see it as wisdom delivered through an unnecessarily rough process. The restaurant's later revival by a Chicago hospitality group feels fitting because it still honors tradition and ceremony while allowing the old forms to evolve into something healthier, looser, and more current. I have not been back since that lunch, but a return now would feel like visiting the museum of my past, not reclaiming a life that asked too much, gave too little, and finally lost its hold on me. Even now, I remember Monkey Bar as a great Midtown lunch in a memorable room, surrounded by the residue of old ambitions and the gratitude of having survived them. The cocktails were sharp, the service was impeccable, and the dining room carried that glamorous old New York energy without feeling trapped by it. The flavor was flawless, and while the portion was small (which was acceptable), the pool of broth accompanying it was completely unnecessary; it was inedibly salty, so what was the point of serving it? After finishing the fish, I was left with a plate full of broth, rendering the plate unusable. Plus, it was overpriced; for this dish, you're better off going to Strip House Strip House remains the undisputed king of this dish in New York. A friend ordered the chicken parmesan. It was just average. Another friend ordered the short rib stroganoff. The flavor was decent, but it was far too rich and heavy. As someone whose palate is split 50/50 between Western and Chinese cuisine, I could manage only five bites at most. If you have a palate that prefers 100% Chinese food, proceed with caution on this dish. Friends ordered sides of mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. These are dishes originally meant for low-income Americans to fill up on cheaply; there's no limit to how good they can be, but also no floor to how bad they can get. Both were on par with the average quality found in upscale restaurants. Honestly, these are two dishes I would never order myself. To sum up: the atmosphere was great. It's also hard to get a reservation; the place was packed when we had lunch at 2 PM. Aside from that monkey bread, I didn't feel like anything else justified the price or offered something you couldn't find elsewhere. I don't quite get the hype. Perhaps I just didn't order the right dishes; maybe next time I'll try the burger and the steak.

He had the Fraunces tavern option on tap and I had a Narragansett summer one. The bartender seemed fine and nice. Ambiance here is as it is an old tavern it sure has that feeling to it. There are many rooms and dinning options within this tavern. I have only sat at the bar area the times that I have been here.

Loooove the juicy bugers! This an old school joint, where you feel like you are just in your home town bar. The food is great, and service is excellent. It gets busier on weekends, but if you avoid the hectic friday night crowd, this is the best place in Manhattan! We order cheeseburgers and irish nachos, and everything was perfect. The burgers were juicy and flavorful, might be one of the best kept secrets in the city.... The upstairs is kind of small and claustrophobic, but they have made the best of it. Jukebox is banging good old rock n'roll all night, and most of the customers are regulars. The shuffleboard is a lot of fun, we made some new friends while learning how to play. Eric (one of the regulars) showed us how to play, and after that we were hooked... We will definitely make a second and third visit, we love you, Nancy's! read more

Oh my god! I love this place! I was there this past Friday, and the place was swamped, but I have never felt so comfortable!! The service was excellent. We got a table in the corner upstairs, and we had to wait a little to get it, but once we got seated, it was all rock n roll! The food was excellent, we ordered the basic burgers and an order of loaded cheese fries. We had to wait a little, but that is understanding, there was hardly standing room left. I would love to come back on a regular day (when it is less crowded). The drinks were nice, maybe on the smaller side, but the waitress checked on us often, so we were good. Quite possibly the worst experience I've had in a bar in my whole life. I will never ever set foot in Nancy Whiskey Pub ever again. Not as long as they employ bitter, angry, incompetent, racist, ignorant, rude bartenders (middle-aged woman with blonde hair working Sunday nights) who loudly call the protesters on Wall Street "brats who don't want to get a job and just want hand outs" while proclaiming their support and concern for the NYPD and then later say they don't like Canal Street because of the "Africans who crowd in the doorsteps" all while you've been waiting 20 minutes for a beer refill. Never again will they get my business, and they shouldn't get yours. read more

One of the classic dive bars in the city. If you walk in and just absorb the atmosphere while drinking, you're in for a good time. The place seems to be always full of both regulars and rookies. Drinks are cheap, and the food is good (one of the best burgers in town). The bartenders are everything you would expect at a dive bar - they work hard (often understafffed when they are busy), they're fun, and they love music. Big tip: don't bring an attitude and be friendly; it will be come right back at you. If you cop an attitude, that will also come back at you. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I am not the type to write bad reviews but honestly I'm so angry that I felt compelled to do so. I've been here about four or five times and most of the bartenders are just full a-holes for no reason. I work in the industry so I can understand how stressful the job can be, however, their service is just so unnecessarily rude. The tall guy bartender is especially the worst. He is super racist and is extremely mean and aggressive to anyone who is brown/black. Also it's a cop bar and cops frequent the place and all cops are bastards. Don't come here. Unfortunately, I had the grueling experience of dealing with an individual who works here. Couldn't have made my day any worse. Did nothing but act rude, disrespectful, condescendingly loud mouthed and megalomaniacal to everyone around. How bad of a person do you to be to wear the merch of said establishment, out in public, boasting about it, paint yourself as an evil person, while somehow managing to ruin everyone's time around them. A very quaint feeling, mixed with the rabble rousing of a busy, crowded New York bar. The pitchers are very affordable. I go here as often as I can. The best part of the bar is the small upstairs area they have that overlooks the crowd around the game table and door. They often attract very passionate sports fans during the playoff seasons. Great dive bar with great juke box which is rare in NYC, can't find a decent bar with a decent juke box if you know what I mean... Plus the cheap drinks... I would go back but the mean blond pig tailed chick bartender isn't too nice so it's not worth it. read more

Excellent burgers, wings are awesome and the beer is cheap. A true dive bar, and we enjoyed it very much. The shuffleboard seems to attract a lot of people, and we have already decided to come back to try it out. Thank you, Nancy's, we had a great time! read more

My first review ever on yelp. The blonde, old, ugly, rude, 'bartender' is a disgrace for mankind. It's an animal. Stupid tambourine in her hands, and just shouts. I would rather cut my wrists than come back here. Never ever ever again. read more

Incredibly packed when we visited but quite atmospheric. The upstairs is tiny and feels a little unstable but good fun. Drinks are reasonably priced. A must if you are looking to get away from the typical NY bars. Love it! read more
