My last review of this place was excellent, unfortunately, I cannot say the same of today's. I ordered two boiled eggs, scrapple, potatoes, and toast. Oh, and the reason why we came, one pumpkin, pancake! So Abby took my order, then came back and said that the chef could not make boiled eggs. Odd, I never had problem with ordering boiled eggs and the menu stated "2 eggs my choice" my way! Ok, change that to over hard and keep the yolk in tact....I received runny soft, ugh! So 5 mins later, I get hard with yolk throughout. Would have been quicker just to boil my eggs, ya think? Hubby's meal was okay but his grits were not hot, and as we both waited for our toast (10 mins), our food was indeed getting colder. Clearly was not our day!!! It'll be a while before we return. I was so happy to find this little gem of a place. Great food with substantial portions, family owned with a very friendly, hospitable staff, and a quaint, homey environment make Nancy's truly inviting and comfortable. I have eaten many meals here and have enjoyed supporting this establishment, even introducing a few friends to it. That is why it was so disheartening to see TRUMP imagery proudly displayed on the front counter on my most recent visit. I still think Nancy is a very nice lady and really enjoyed the restaurant, but my last meal was tainted as soon I saw this as I handed over my payment. The comfy atmosphere immediately shifted and I felt as if I didn't belong in a place that I loved. Unfortunately it saddens me to say I cannot bring myself to continue supporting one of my favorite local businesses. To be totally honest, I would've probably left a 5 star rating. I stand by my review. Everything I've eaten there was great... Banana bread french toast, bacon, scattered smothered and covered potatoes, the country breakfast, etc., you can't go wrong. I just strongly disagree with their political alignment and their choice to place it on display front and center in the restaurant. If that isn't an issue for you, I recommend giving it a shot. read more

I tried this place yesterday for the first time. First impression was that it's a bit of a dive, but that's not a bad thing. I really prefer a good dive to a professional decorated chain restaurant. We were welcomed immediately and told to sit wherever we wanted. The menu had a lot of things to choose from and included some things that most places don't offer. My companion chose one of the specials, it included a cheese omelette and blueberry pancakes. I went for the sausage gravy and biscuits. Both were large portions and both were very tasty. We enjoyed our visit and will definitely come back. Next time I'll try their banana bread French toast. People at the next table ordered it and it looked great. read more

Country Kitchen no more. My first encounter with "Love peace and chicken grease" was worthy of five stars. The staff was great and the food was ohhh sooo good. A lot of things have changed over the years. 1. Menu changes: Signature breakfasts, less items same price. Upcharge added for rye toast. $5 for a side of gravy (although the sausage gravy was to die for). 2. Staff: Gone are the girls that treated you as they would want to be treated when dining out. Now young plate slingers that need stuff thrown at them to get them to our table. 3. Food: I touched on this a little with the side of country gravy comment. At most diners when I order home fries I finish with the words "well done" and I would get something that was more than warmed potatoes. At Nancy's I didn't need to say that. The homefries were always cooked and the bacon was always crispy. My last (key word there) visit the food was a BIG miss. read more

Addendum: Nancy personally invited me back when she saw I was disappointed with the last visit. I'm happy to report that this latest visit was very good. I ordered the seasoned beef and cheddar omelet and (although it was more of a crepe) it was delicious. The banana bread French toast was so good, and the jellies and biscuits were homemade-so good! Was there this morning. Waited so long for a menu that my husband had to hunt for some. Longer for someone to take drink orders. Another 10 for the food order. When we'd been there so long I was starting to leave reviews that the wait was crazy the server happened by. Only then did she tell me she was sorry for the delay, but the kitchen was busy. Which did not explain why we could not get menu's, drinks or get an order taken. The food finally showed up. Subpar but not disgusting. My husband ordered a spinach/cheese omlette. No cheese inside but a small garnish of cheese on top. My order, with feta had a sprinkle of it on top, none inside and it was not cooked. Food was unseasoned. The blueberry jelly was tasty. The glass my drink came in was cute. Which was nice to look at. The server did not offer a refill until after the check came. Both my father and husband had coffee. Had to ask repeatedly for a little more. Which got Dad some, but not my husband. Very unfriendly to seniors or handicapped folks. Dad could not get his walker through the restaurant to get to the restroom. A man at a neighboring table said his order was so bad that he returned it. They did not offer to correct and wanted him to pay for it, anyway. He tried to tell the owner, who did not care. Bad service, bad layout. Iffy food. All things considered, we should have gone to Howell's or Gilcrists, just down the road. read more

Found this cute little place on our way home from Atlantic City. The breakfast wasn't anything spectacular but good and plentiful - more food than the average person can eat in one sitting. The staff were nice and attentive and the prices were reasonable. read more

They make a good breakfast with huge portions, however, when we were there they only had one waitress, so service was very slow.

Took my mom for breakfast this morning. I had the Chicken and waffles, Mom had the sausage biscuits and gravy. I could not believe they make their own jelly! The portions were big, The chicken was tender they drizzle it with honey and top it with bacon pieces.MMMMM I'll be back...maybe tomorrow. I want to try everything. We've passed this little place a few times on the way home from Atlantic City. Looked like a nice little country place that would have good food. We had to wait for a table which was no problem, but 1 table got cleaned off, then a 2nd table got cleaned off, and we're still standing there waiting. There were just the 2 of us yet the waitresses just kept passing us by not even looking at us. FINALLY, a waitress says a table is cleaned you can go sit-(which we could have told her there were 2 clean tables 15 minutes ago). Coffee was fair, but breakfast was worse. Hubby had scrapple and eggs, I had ham and eggs. Homefries had so many skins they couldn't be eaten, ham was very fatty. We were hoping it would've been worth the wait but that was nothing but wishful thinking. All in all- never again. Don't waste your time or money. Not worth it. read more
