Nancy's is the best place to see and be seen during Illumination Week. Grab a drink from Donovan and some food and sit on the patio area to see who's in town for the week. We visited for lunch and had The mussels and calamari. Both were delicious. The fish with the fish and chips was the blandest fish I've ever tasted. I didn't expect southern fried fish but I did expect to taste something yummy since the fish looked so tasty. You eat with your eyes first and in my mind this meal was going to be amazing. NOT! A combination of salt, pepper, tarter sauce, ketchup, and hot sauce was still not enough for my taste buds. I stopped eating and said I look forward to dinner at another amazing spot. On a separate night, we went by for Donovan to make us a few drinks. I had rum punch and it was right! Felt like I was in the Caribbean. This place has an amazing location right on the pier! You can sit and enjoy your food in a restaurant upstairs or you can order outside and sit by the pier! We had a fairly long wait for lunch but had a large group. I ordered the buffalo chicken caesar wrap with fries. It was ok. I would probably order something else next time. The service was excellent! Average fried food. My boyfriend and I shared some clam strips, onion rings, and fish and chips. The good part is that after you get your food, you can sit at the benches by the water. Last month, at 12pm on Tue, June 21, 2022, the day after the Juneteenth holiday, I had THE worst customer service experience I have ever had in my life at Nancy's. The experience can be described in one word: DISPARATE What I had anticipated to be a wonderful lunch at Nancy's with my mother, sister, & friends (who were visiting Martha's Vineyard for the 1st time), was degrading, humiliating, & laced with bias. This, my 1st full day on vacation in Martha's Vineyard, my mother, sister, & I planned to have lunch at Nancy's. We had enjoyed lunch at Nancy's during our visit to the island in June 2021 at the suggestion of my best friend. She touted that the Obamas dined at Nancy's & that Sasha Obama had worked there as well, so we were excited to once again return to this Oak Bluffs' staple. The only Black patrons at Nancy's at the time, (7 Black women), we experienced this: 1. When my 4 friends were seated at their table next to our table, they were told by Cierra that every person had to order a meal. My friends had already said they were there for lunch when checking.  It was rude, presumptuous, & insulting to target my friends. 2. I overheard this & asked if there was a problem. Cierra, said there was no problem & smugly stated that if they were going sit at a table,  that each person had to order a meal. 3. When i asked Cierra about this, she said it was to ensure servers got paid since tips were main pay. 4. Cierra & staff were gawking & talking about me & family/friends. I asked to speak to the manager. The staff directed me to Cierra. 5. I asked Cierra about how she was treating my friends. She said it was policy that re sat at a table had to order a meal & they were training the hosts. This was the 1st time we had heard of such a policy. I asked if this policy was in writing & Cierra stated that it was. I asked to see the policy & Cierra left to get it. 6. Cierra never returned with the policy, however, a man came to our table. I asked who he was & he said he was the manager of the restaurant, which was a surprise to me as Cierra stated she was the manager. This man said his name was Steve Ansara. 7. My sister & I both expressed our concern about how my friends were being treated and asked about their so-called policy. Mr. Ansara contradicted Cierra's claim that there was a policy and said that the restaurant could change the rules when they saw fit to do so. Mr. Ansara also stated that this was customary at other restaurants, though I have never heard of such. We expressed that it would have been helpful to have that publicly displayed and that we didn't see anything about a policy stating that everyone at the table had to order a meal posted anywhere. 8. Mr. Ansara attempted to justify the restaurant's actions, but ultimately could not. He even tried saying that when the restaurant is busy, they need to ensure that people seated at tables all order meals,  which did not make any sense as the majority of tables around us were empty, and the restaurant was not busy at all on this Tuesday afternoon in June.  There was no excuse, other than the fact that Cierra had a preconceived notion about my friends based on the color of our skin. 9. This became even more evident when my 75 year old mother, who grew up in the segregated South, offered her perspective of the disparate treatment and brought the color of our skin, relative to the other patrons in the restaurant to Mr. Ansara's attention. At which point Mr. Ansara was very disrespectful to and dismissive of my mother, saying that he would not entertain such and walked away from my mother mid-sentence with a nasty attitude. 10. Mr. Ansara returned to the table, stating that our bill had been taken care of, which we received as, him no longing wanting to deal with us and to just leave. We will not be returning to Nancy's in the future, and will ensure to share this experience with everyone we know in hopes that proper customer service training, with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion will be conducted with the restaurant's staff. read more

On our visit to Oak Bluff's, we had lunch at Nancy's Restaurant. There was a menu on the outside window that displayed menu with prices. It was a little misleading as the prices were only for takeout and outside dining. If you decided to go upstairs, the prices were slightly higher than posted downstairs. Wow this place is insanely busy ALL THE TIME. We stopped by for lunch on our first visit. I had the burger with blue cheese and my bf had the crab cake burger. My burger was pretty good but not worth ordering again. The crab cake burger wasn't good. It tasted a little fishy and it seemed like they used canned crab instead of fresh crab. I would not recommend it. The truffle fries on the other hand... AMAZING. I would come back to eat these any day. Our 2nd visit was during the same weekend and this time we came for drinks only! The dirty banana lives up to its reputation. Delicious and the bartender is hilarious. $10 dollars a drink and he also pours a mini shot of rum in there! We were looking for a quick late evening snack and stopped at the outdoor seating at Nancy's. It was quick and large servings. I thought the clam chowder was excellent. The fried shrimp was also pretty good. I did stopped by the bar and try the Banana Mudslide that everyone raved about. It was good but a bit overhyped imo. Get out of town!!! This place is awesome. Had the Lobster Mac N Cheese that I am still drooling over -- in my dreams. It was cheesy to the max, with big chunks of lobster meat all throughout. The flavor... oh wow... great, good, er.. insert and other positive adjective? The serving was enough for 2. At first I balked at the size of it, but then as my tastebuds cha-cha'ed, I knew it was not making it home! The service here was exceptional. Nancy's is famous for its celebrity patrons (like the Obamas, Valerie Jarrett). On a summer afternoon, it can get crowded on the patio. It's a delightful little spot on the marina. They have friendly, helpful staff, and while it can get chaotic, they maintain order. For a place that specializes in seafood, they make decent cheeseburgers. Their Atlantic salmon sandwich is enormous. They make a good clam chowder. They have an excellent beer selection. Their lobster rolls are toasted right, filled with succulent meat. However, their fish tacos are their hidden gem. Their fish tacos have a deliciously fresh corn salsa, and be sure to order their kicky, filling Nancy's fries. Delicious port side fun. read more

My family and I enjoyed a lunch here in the summertime and thought it was an OK experience. Unfortunately, there were no oysters, which my husband enjoys. The wait staff were OK, but not very friendly. It was too busy to eat outside and we decided to eat inside. It was clean and the food came quickly. Our two kids enjoyed a cucumber sushi roll and salad, and there are other kids options like chicken fingers. I enjoyed a salad with falafel and my husband enjoyed a chowder fries. The menu was the same as downstairs and they said "no completely different menu" which it's not, it's a slightly different menu. We stumbled upon this restaurant while in Oak Bluffs. They have a walk up counter outsider and a restaurant overlooking the water upstairs. We ate inside and had no wait. The service was great. No option to change out sizes from standard dishes, hence the 4 stars. Food came to the table hot. It was loud in the restaurant, but not unbearably so. Great for families and couples. This review is mostly based on Donovans Reef apart of Nancy's. The top drink to get here is the Dirty Banana, from what I can tell Donovan uses a real 1/2 Banana , chocolate sauce , and the rest well who cares ( or knows ) they are too good. Donovan tastefully will give you a smile and a little flirty to the ladies but in all seriousness his drinks are worth the wait. Which really isn't that long. The food here is mediocre you're pretty much paying for the views. If you want some good seafood there's plenty of other options. Have dinner elsewhere and come here to have your dirty banana. read more

I have been coming to Nancy's for about 50 years and I must say the food and drinks were horrible. The service and server were great. We ordered the broiled seafood combo and it tasted like it was boiled with no seasoning. The Arnold Palmer taste like water with a slight lemon taste, piña colada and the Strawberry daiquiri were nasty. I was highly disappointed and embarrassed. Nancy's is an iconic island restaurant. The views are fantastic and the food is superb, especially the seafood platters. They have always handled the crowds quickly when we've been there but if you have to wait, take a stroll around the neighborhood or just gaze over the marina with one of their specialty cocktails in hand from the walk up bar.
