I visited Nando's for the first time when I was in London. It's been a long time coming so I stopped for a quick meal at the closest location. We started with the hummus, which was great. I liked that it came with a peri peri drizzle for it. We ordered 1/4 chicken with chips and corn and the boneless chicken thighs with garlic bread and spicy rice (note: not spicy). The peri peri chicken was delicious--it was juicy and full of flavor! But, none of their famous sauces were particularly hot, which was a bit disappointing if you're looking for a serious spice kick. At one point we had six or seven of their sauces on our table because I tried combining different ones to make a spicy, or even appetizing one but none were good, which is a let down. The sauces are more on the tangy side. Garlic and Extra Hot were okay. Lemon & Herb is honestly terrible. Conveniently located across from King's Cross Station, the restaurant has a large layout spread over two floors. There was a line during my visit (approximately a 20-minute wait), and the bathrooms are located downstairs. read more

We saw so many Nando's while walking around and had to try it. It was our first time eating here and trying peri peri chicken, and we thought it was delicious. The prices seemed fair for the portions (especially in London). The chicken was juicy and tasty. The fries (chips) were good as well, better than several other fish and chips places. I liked the sauces that they included, and we enjoyed the sides as well. Minus one star for the incredibly long wait time (over 30 minutes) even though there were not very many diners nor customers waiting on takeout. If you haven't tried Nando's or peri peri chicken before, it's worth a meal here. We all felt this was one of the better meals we had in London in spite of going to some highly recommended and lauded restaurants (which were frankly disappointing). read more

Pre-COVID review: We passed by so many Nando's locations on our two London trips, so we were curious to find out what they serve. Turns out it's peri peri chicken! We had dinner at 8 pm at the location near King Cross. The place is a mix of service and self-serve. They seat you at a table, but you go to the counter to order and pay. They then bring the food to you, but you get your own drinks, plates, and sauce. We ordered the full platter (£19.95), which feeds 2 people. It comes with a large whole chicken with your choice of the following: 1) 2 large sides, 2) 4 regular sides, 3) 1 large side with 2 bottomless soft drinks, or 4) 2 regular sides with 2 bottomless soft drinks. This is the only place in London where I've seen unlimited soft drinks! Already 4 stars in my book for that! You also choose level of spiciness, so we got mild, mango and lime. We picked chips and creamy mash for our sides. Food was satisfying and the unlimited drinks were what we've been missing! In case you're wondering, the toilets are downstairs, though if you only want to wash your hands, there are trough sinks available on the first floor. The space looks bigger inside than from outside. There was a lot of people dining in and we thought they wouldn't have any open tables, but we were led further and further inside! Nando's is the chicken place that you'll find all over London. They're great and relatively fast. If you're sitting in, they'll assign you a table. You'll have to go to the register and order, just make sure you have the correct table number. After that, you can pick up your drink and wait for the food to arrive at your assigned table. But let's not skip over the best part about Nando's, the peri peri sauce. You can help yourself to one of the many flavors and spice intensities of peri peri and make it rain on your plate. The portion size are not huge but it's enough food especially with the sides. I particularly enjoyed the spinach. The service is pretty decent but will be slower during peak lunch hours. I am absolutely obsessed with Nandos, Bryan and I like to get drinks around the corner at the Scottish Store and end our night by pigging out at Nando's. Our first Nando's experience was at this location, after a long day of traveling from Paris to London via train we definitely needed some good food in our belly. For those who have never been to Nandos, it's pretty fast casual, you get sat at a numbered table, you take a look at the menu and when you're ready you get in line to order your food, don't forget your table number that's crucial. I ordered the 1/2 Chicken (I was starving and a fatty) in medium, with a side of garlic bread and peri chips, Bryan ordered their Chicken Breast Sandwich in extra hot adding cheese and removing the onions, with regular chips. They were busy our first night and food took a bit of time but I would rather that happen that have raw chicken, am I right? When our food did come out I was happily greeted by the smell of flavor, portion sizes are really generous and I am salivating just thinking of our food. I like to order my chicken in medium so I could mix the herb and hot sauces together, perfect combo. My chicken was so flavorful and tasted so much better dipped in my combo sauces. Also, that garlic bread is out of this world, so garlicy and the bread and so nice and soft not too crunchy. Bryan's chicken sandwich looked really good too but he was struggling trying to eat it because it was so hot, that's his fault, he still loved it. We also ordered their bottomless fountain drink, get Fanta, orange Fanta just tastes better in Europe for some reason. So we have had other Nando's experiences, I much more enjoyed my two boneless chicken thighs, to getting the half chicken. Bryan ended up getting the sandwich again but ordered it in medium and added the sauces to it after. If you like El Pollo Loco rice, their rice is super similar. The food was excellent. Nandos is a must try. And there are many locations so one is near you. Chicken of all forms occupies this restaurant and that is the theme. Many different sauces at spice levels can accompany your entrée or side. The appetizer was the spicy mixed olives, they were not as salty as I expected and the spiciness wasn't as noticeable with this appetizer. My main was the butterfly chicken. A Boneless chicken breast with crispy skin. The entrée could be hit with multiple levels of spice, I chose hot which was not unbearable. I'd say hot was a 6 out of 10. The spicy rice was noticeably spicy however on a spice level a 3 out of 10. The spicy rice definitely was good. I also tried something different than the standard slaw and got the Rainbow slaw it has a very good dressing. It was top-notch A little sweet and tangy. This place is excellent. read more

Nandos! Nandos! Nandos! This was pretty much the go-to spot for my friend while we were abroad and after seeing her order it almost every single day for dinner, I decided to try it for myself. I opted for this quinoa and corn side with some type of ranch sauce which was quite good and then the baked chicken which was just okay. The restaurant is cozy and nice with a mix between fast-food and actual Sunday dinner. It was cool for the price but I think the chicken needs to be cooked more thoroughly or they should at least have that option for those who prefer a well-done bird. read more

You can never go wrong with a cheeky Nando's, especially for a late night meal. This location is great because of its late hours when all food places are closed (except for those late night kebab stands and McDonald's). It's conveniently located right across from King's Cross Station, so you can literally hop off a late night train and enjoy some rotisserie chicken. read more

Thumbs up for Nando's "extra spicy" actually living up to the description. My mouth was on fire, and beads of sweat formed on my forehead. Another thumbs up for the juicy, tender chicken plus 2 sides that come out to a bargain of 10 quids! The rice was a tad too al dente, but the garlic bread was spot on. They neutralized the spice-level that was lighting my mouth on fire. Did I have beer glasses when I tried Nando's both times? Yes. Did I think Nando's was delicious? Yes. Did I wake up next morning feeling gross about my after-pub-crawl choice of meal? Not at all! Really, I wish we had Nando's in Washington, D.C. as I really dig the wholesome chicken option rather than fried food and regrets. Get at least 1/2 chicken. 1/4 is too little. read more

They seat you, hand you menus, then expect you to go back up to the Til (cash register) to order (without telling you this), then sit back down. They do bring your order to you, but if you want anything else, you have to go back up to the Til and order again. Even the napkins, silverware, and drinks are self-service. Yet the price? As a regular traveller to London, Nando's King's Cross is a favourite stop for me when I want to eat a low carb meal in a hurry at a reasonable price. A stones throw from King's Cross and St Pancras Stations, you get everything you'd expect from a Nando's here - good service and tasty food quick to your table. I've been to this Nando's branch a number of times while I've been in the area for business. Each time I've been greeted warmly, served quickly and enjoy my experience. The only downside for me is no free Wi-Fi (so make sure to sit by a window seat to maintain a mobile signal if you need to continue working through your lunch or dinner) and the toilets are located downstairs, so if you're a lone traveller with luggage then you may need to lug it with you. Do... do... do... the manky chicken. And so it was last Fri that I was finally persuaded to 'eat in' at Nando's King's Cross. An experience I had managed to avoid for the previous three and a half years working in the area. Don't get me wrong, Nando's is the food of choice in our office if we're working late on a pitch. It's cheap, it's quick and it's better than KFC. But to actually go and sit in one and pretend its a real restaurant. Different kettle of fish. My three work colleagues were dead excited. For them Nando's represents a line in the sand. The weekend starts at Nando's. A place where you can swear loudly and talk about debauched plans for the weekend and other diners won't bat an eyelid. There's a ritual to nandos. It starts with the welcome at the door from a cheery member of staff who gleefully tells you there's a half hour wait. I walked out at that point but was dragged back by the three mates who are In The Know. Half an hour means twenty minutes max in nandos apparently. First hurdle straddled I made my way to a free table. When I turned to let my mates know I had found one, I was greeted with three laughing hyenas pointing at me like I was the simple one. In nandos you see, you don't go to the table and wait for service. You join the immense queue and put your order in at the till. What a dumbo. As we joined the back of the queue I got briefed. Seasonings were a big topic. Herb and lemon is for wusses. Mild is for wusses. Everything but the hottest of the hot is for wusses. That's the first rule. Second rule is to get a 'deal'. Half a chicken and two sides £9.99. Choose the sides carefully. Chips and coleslaw go well. And DO NOT ORDER A PROPER DRINK BECAUSE IF YOU ORDER WATER YOU CAN JUST GO UP TO THE TAP AND TAKE A PROPER DRINK FOR FREE. This information was imparted with such glee. The weekend starts with getting one over on nandos with the free drink coup. As I got to the front of the queue I was getting quite nervous. Would my voice crack when I ordered the 'water'? Would I forget the two sides? Would I be taken for a wuss if I went mild. Sweating, I ordered. The till person tried desperately to get me to buy three sides. And a proper drink. But I was having none of it. I had been prepped by those In The Know. I got a receipt and an empty cup and was directed to the fountain where I bottled it and filled up with water. We reached our table which felt like it hadn't come into contact with a wet cloth since the grand opening and whiled away the time with endless dry banter and one upmanship. All good fun, which was lucky really because the food didn't arrive for about 30 minutes. When it did, I would best describe my chicken as slippery. My chips were cold to the touch and tasted of cardboard. The slaw was fine. Joe being In The Know had ordered three wings as a side order and a quarter of chicken rather than a half. This he confided was the value option where the meat to money ratio worked out best for the punter. Impressive equation. The wings looked plaid and meagre. James ordered a breast which had been cooked so brutally whoever did it should be reported. Getting into the meat meant using a stabbing action with the knife. Tom's food never arrived at all. Small blessings and all that. As joe went up for his third 'water' refill, i flavoured some of his chips with my body sweat. It's all part of the fun in nandos. He came back and munched on, none the wiser. All the banter in the world and inanely smiley staff doesn't make up for slimy chicken and cardboard chips on a sticky table and I clambered out past the vast queues for some of the relatively fresh air on York Way vowing not to return in a hurry. But something keeps them coming back for more at nandos. I think it just proves how good chicken really is because nandos murder it and it still seems to pack em in. For £2.50 less you can go to Effes in Gt Titchfield St and get a succulent chicken shish, expertly cooked and served with oodles of fresh salad, sauce, rice and pitta. Worth the bike ride instead, trust me. I burped chicken all afternoon but did remark after my eighth pint that evening what a wonderful stomach liner it had proved to be. We have to travel all the way to London to try these scrumptious chicken with reasonable price. We liked best that we get as much sauces and as many varieties of peri sauces. From garlic to hot then to super hot sauce. All laid out in huge bottles for your every desire. No need to keep asking the waiter for more just go to the sauce counter and grab those bottles yourself. Absolutely love it. Well the chicken is well marinated and grilled to a wonderful crisp and yet maintain the moist meat. The sides are pretty good too. The super grain side had a touch of fiber while the fries were deliciously crispy and chunky. Makes it great to dip into all those wonderful selection of sauces. Again i can't say enough about the sauces. I think we love those chicken for their sauces.. Unfortunate we can't get Nando in CA but who knows maybe soon... read more

After staying a few days in London, I was told that I "must go to Nandos!" Nandos is a chain of rotisserie chicken restaurants further specializing in Portuguese style chicken with their famous peri-peri sauces. Oddly enough I believe the restaurant started in South Africa. On to the food... Ordered the half chicken plate with a side of garlic bread and cole slaw. Chicken was fall off the bone tender and went well with the variety of peri-peri sauces at my disposal. The medium heat on the chicken was pretty weak but a good starting point for a first-timer like myself. The creamy slaw cut the heat of the sauces perfectly. The staff working in the restaurant were overly nice and helpful. I will definitely be returning but next time in a less expensive city (Toronto!). read more

I thought it was an interesting experience in having to get your own drinks, etc. I really liked the chicken and fries, but my only complaint is the price in relation to the chicken thighs, it's the same price as the half chicken and if I knew at the time that the thighs were that small, I would've gotten the latter. Oh Nandos.. what a sad little world for those vegetarians who came here with their friends. not being a big fan of chain restaurants, Nando's didn't really leave me any exciting memories as of my experience here. The veggie burger (mushroom) was basically tasteless and pathetic. The selection of hot sauce did excite me though. Chips were average, my friend's Piri Piri chicken breast was of good portion. Never had anything called Peri Peri before but i'm a fan now! For those who don't know, including me, Peri Peri is a spice i believe that is used in cooking and sauces from Portugal? I might be wrong but that's the story i got, anyway, its delicious. Chicken is the meat of the day at Nando's, served in various styles and with various parts of the bird, leg, thigh, breast etc. I had a grilled chicken wrap, was absolutely delicious, had a sweet chili jam on the inside of the wrap that was not spicy at all, just delicious. I did try some of their Peri Peri sauces, the lemon and garlic sauces were mild to hot for my taste and the medium was well spicy i thought, didn't even try the hot, it was about 90 degree's outside and i was hot enough already! This location is right next to Kings Cross station in London so if your stuck there waiting for a train, head over to Nando's, the service was excellent, the servers were very pleasant and accommodating and the price was excellent, lets face it, your in the middle of London so anything less that $100 or £50 is a bargain, and was out of there with my wrap, fries and drink for under £10/$13, i've got similar deals in NY at Qudoba and Chipotle but Nando's is certainly a step up in class so a real bargain. read more

STOP PRESS: pygmy chicken discovered in restaurant. I don't know where Nando's found the original breeding pair of this super small chicken but I take my hat of to them. By careful breeding and enough security to prevent competitors accessing the gene pool they have ensured that they can offer quarter, half and whole chickens at seemingly reasonable prices without having to give much away. Don't get me wrong, I like what I get in Nando's it's just that I don't get much. This particular branch is very hand for Kings Cross or, in my case, the nearby Premier Inn and it has plenty of space and some wildly over enthusiastic staff. Nando's is great if you have a stomach for gallons of carbonated drinks or frozen yogurt (both offered as bottomless options). Actually it's amazing what you can do with a micro-chicken and a well branded sauce range. read more

Anyways, there are a lot of 'interesting' places in Kings X, so without much of a clue where else to turn, we ended up at Nandos. It was a pretty standard Nandos experience. You know what the food tastes like, you know what beer you'll order, and one too many servers will come around to ask if you're doing okay throughout your meal. A chain restaurant that's quintessential to the London experience. For the Americans out there, think "In and Out" in California or "White Castle" in the Midwest. It's amazingly delicious. Good tip. After the host seats you at your table, remember your table number, then GET UP and walk to the cashier to place your order. Quite a spacious Nando's with plenty of tables so even during the lunchtime rush you don't have to queue for too long. The service gets a bit slack when it's busy, especially if you are ordering a takeaway (I waited for 45 minutes the other day!) but overall it's one of the better eating options around Kings Cross. read more

I have never in my life left a yelp review, but the service and overall experience was so bad that i actually downloaded the app just so that other people dont deal with this. First, we were sat at not one but actually two sticky tables. This is our first time here and no one told us we order our food upstairs so we waited for 20 minutes and then got up to find a waiter and then were informed. Next, once i ordered I was charged twice and had to show a manager to get paid back (which she did so graciously). We were assured everything would be fine the rest of the night, and as of right now it has been 34 minutes and we still have not been served. Different levels of spicy sauce--medium is not too spicy but very good. Much nicer than American fast food chains in decor and comfort. We were seated quickly because there was no line during what was rush hour at all the surrounding restaurants. We should have taken this as our first sign. We proceeded to order quickly but returned to have our table taken by people from a restaurant nearby. We then told the waitress that we were switching tables, giving her the number and pointing it out. Then the waiting game began. About an hour passed, and the three of us got our burgers and chips (ice cold) without the water we ordered. Of my butterfly burger was 2 pieces of SHIT chicken. When I say shit, I mean absolute utter shit. Fortunately, the super-super ultra friendly manager came to help us, saying ,"food okay?" And we responded with no, telling him we didn't get one of our sides and burger. He refused to talk to us. He then told us to leave a review. Well here we are. We took his advice. Manager was worse than the chicken.....and I didn't think the chicken could be any worse......I'll leave it at that. So, I am not a frequent Nando's consumer, but our friends who lives near King's Cross invited us to catch up at this particular branch 13 September 2012. Upon entering we were welcomed in a friendly manner and taken to a table big enough for all 6 of us. Reaching the time to order, I went standing in the queue along with 2 of the friends to place our orders. I was stood behind a pilar and was eventually called over (in a somewhat irritated manner from the man behind the counter and his colleague/friend stood in front).Because I hardly ever eat at Nando's, I was a bit nervous to make the order. The man taking my order (black man with shoulder length braids) I initially thought was being charming, which I don't mind, but then I discovered he was downright cocky. I ordered 2 bottomless cokes with the food and walked away without the glasses, but soon realised I have forgotten to take them. When I turned around to get them, the man that was serving me leaned over the counter looking at me, making a comment to the man that was stood there earlier before. When I was close enough, He made no effort to be professional about it and said loud and clear to his friend "see, this is what I have to deal with every day". All I can say is, I felt offended, I apologised on my behalf, but he was rude and offensive. He made me feel like I was an idiot and showed no professionalism or customer care. I can not complain about my food as that was delicious (thus the 3 stars) but I can most definately complain about this particular man's poor professionalism. It is people like him that can damage the whole restaurants reputation. I work in customer service and this type of behaviour is not tolerated in my work. If you hate your job, then quit, but don't make the customer's feel like fools when you are done with them. So unfortunately, poor customer service in that respect. read more
