Recommended by a friend to visit Nando's while I was in this area! I thought it was a sit down restaurant but it was more like a fast casual place. Order online or with staff at the counter. When we walked in, we immediately got greeted by staff and the menu was nicely explained to us on how everything worked. My group weren't too hungry so we ended up getting the whole chicken that came with 2 sides to share between 3 of us. Ordered medium spice. Service was a tad slow even though it wasn't too busy but it was fine we weren't starving. Food finally came out and it was cooked to perfection! The chicken was nice and tender and had a nice flavor to it. We were able to spruce it up by adding some additional sauces that were located by the drink machines. Didn't realize that Nando's Peri Peri was a fast casual restaurant! I had only been to their South loop location before and thought it was sit down, so pleasantly surprised we could just sit down and order from the phone. Sandwiches are pretty good and they have really good sides like fries for a pretty decent price under $20 which I found really good for the loop (plenty of filling options that are under that price point ). Out of curiosity we tried this place.. who would go wrong with grilled chicken ? We signed up and waited to be seated. We were trying to see if this was an Asian restaurant or Peruvian. It's African inspired. We got seated. Table and seat were comfortable with glass window view outside. Perfect to me. We ordered the family platter and liver on the side. Our orders came and we got our utensils and napkins at the counter, and dip ( mild spicy). Our food came and wow... love every bite of it! My husbands favourite Nando's since his Aussie days. I've heard a lot about it 2 decades ago from my cousins in Aussie. Finally I got to try it. I was so happy. We got the 1/2 chicken omg it was so juicy well cooked and so flavourful. With peri peri fries so crispy yummy and tasty. And their rice which was pretty good. The sauces are the best. Amazing!!!!!! The food is just amazing. That chicken is just perfect, juicy, I little charred on top, well-seasoned. I wanted to try it more spicy but I wasn't alone so I ordered the plain-ish option and still delicious, the family platter said that came with 2 large sides and I think we didn't get the large sides, that's why I'm giving them 4 starts, I ordered a small side of cauliflower and it was the same size as the "large sides" That came with the platter. I recommend to try the sauce at the sauce bar. I'd come back but I'm still thinking that we didn't get the large sides so ask when the food gets to your table. I'm glad I got to finally try Nando's, as I heard a lot about them from friends over in the UK. It's like fast food, but elevated, as they serve your food in proper tableware. I got the 1/4 of a chicken, some fries, and "Peri"naise sauce (mayonnaise and peri-peri sauce mix) The chicken was very flavorful and seasoned wonderfully, very juicy and dipping it into Garlic Herb Peri-Peri sauce was spectacular. The fries were crisp on the outside, yet fluffy on the inside, and were also well-seasoned. I think the Peri-naise sauce can be skipped as that was $1 extra - they have an assortment of different peri-peri sauces, varying spice levels and flavors to choose from that work just as well or better. The price is also amazing, only $12 for all of this and drink refill is a great price for being in downtown Chicago. read more

We had the same Rainbow chicken bowl with lots of fresh veggies. The chicken was really flavorful. Chicken combos, sandwiches and salad also. Some vegetarian options. I've been to this location twice and the one in streeterville. I really like their food! Chicken is always juicy and mashed potatoes are amazing. So THAT'S where the sauce comes from! I've seen it in stores in the Northeast, and never knew it was a brick-and-mortar place! After seeing it and looking up the menu, I've been itching to stop in. Unfortunately, my experience was one I do not wish to repeat. Thus, I don't see myself returning anytime soon, or in the longer term. Probably not medium-term either. Nando's, you need to do better across the board, a lot better. Let me ask you, reader, two questions: 1. What's the longest you've ever had to wait for a meal at a restaurant? 2. What's the longest you've ever had to wait for a chicken sandwich? Let me share my answers: 1. Until today, about half-an-hour. This was for a fresh deep dish pizza, and for a Beef Wellington at Gordon Ramsay's. I am not counting that time in NYC when my age was in the single digits and they forgot my parents' order. 2. An hour - at Nando's. You'd think the chicken was alive when we ordered. Here's more of the story: we were a group of six on a team lunch from work. When we were seated, we were warned that the wait would be 25-30 minutes. Time-out!: isn't this a fast-casual restaurant? I try to be reasonable and understanding, however, there are limits! Except for things that genuinely take 30 minutes to cook, being busy is not an excuse, but a symptom of ineffective management. The whole schtick with the lunch rush is that it's a rush - people don't have a lot of time. It gets worse. The first items didn't start coming out of the kitchen until about 40 minutes after we'd ordered. It gets worse still. When ordering, it was suggested we order using the QR code and applet, as this would help ensure everything gets to our table at the same time. Okay, nice for us to all share a meal together as opposed to some people eating and others waiting. Yeah... that didn't happen, our dishes did not come out at the same time, and some had a substantial gap in between. Not only that, half of our order was forgotten about! Half the group had already eaten and fully digested their lunch, and the others (myself included), were still waiting for their mains, and some sides also never got to us. Still not done - When I came up to ask where the rest of the food is, there seemed to be some confusion and uncertainty as to what was ordered and what was still outstanding. I suspect that they accidentally closed our order way too early. The blows continue. In the midst of all this, other than one apology from the cashier, the rest of the staff seemed somewhat angry and annoyed. Rather than try to make things right for people who've been waiting an hour, their priority seemed to have us out of their hair. Failure again: When I finally had the Thigh and Mighty in hand, I unwrapped it to discover it was, in fact, the Chicken Burger. I brought it up and explained it was the wrong thing. The employee pushed back, and I had to point out the pineapple (comes with burger, not thigh-and-mighty). It is remade and I go sit down. This time, I wasn't going back no matter what they gave me. I unwrapped, and it was the item I had ordered. Finally! My friend's hair grew from her shoulders to her waist while I waited, but whatever. I sink my teeth into this thing... *Drumroll please* It was meh, at best! I will give a point for the chicken being very tender, though on the other side, it is difficult to overcook chicken thighs. Alas, that is the only good thing I can say. The chicken didn't have any char or other evidence of a maillard reaction. They could have made it in an Instant Pot, and I wouldn't have known the difference. The veggies on the sandwich made as much impact as the grill (immaterial and close to nothing). Final nail in the coffin: while I saw them dab some sauce on while grilling, the flavors were a whisper, and the heat was MIA (ordered medium). For the fries... for something that spends most of its time under a lamp, they were fine. Still, despite my love for potatoes cooked in oil, this was not nearly enough to get them out of the very deep hole they've dug for themselves. Now, let me address management directly, specifically whoever copy-pastes the same blurb apologizing for missing the mark and asking for me to submit something through your website. No. Just No. This review contains all the information you need. Submit it yourself. You need to do better - not for me, but for the next person. You won't see me again. Good day! read more

Whenever I'm on the east coast I have to visit Nando's. I got the bowl with chicken thighs and it was delicious. I ordered an extra thigh which was perfect for splitting this into 2 meals. The appetizers are amazing. If you love hummus, this is the place to go. Their wings with their Peri Buffalo and their Peri ranch creates a perfect combination of flavors. I would recommend getting that when you come here. The music is vibrant and soulful. One thing was the person who sat us wasn't super upbeat and had an AirPod in his ear. Interesting concept of an "elevated fast food" - place your order at the counter or using QR code located on every table and your order is delivered to your table. When ordering, you can select the level of the spiciness. There are also sauces available for everybody if you want to add some heat later on. I ordered half a chicken at medium spicy level with the sides of cauliflower and French fries. Chicken was well cooked with crispy skin and a bit of the wood-fired smoke (might be just my imagination). Cauliflowers were okay, french fries were a bit soggy. While the chicken was supposed to be somewhat spicy, I didn't feel any spiciness at all. I tried two of the hottest sauces and was not impressed. My family was thrilled to see a Nando's stateside. It's beautiful when you walk in - cool vibes and beautiful wall hangings. On a weeknight, it was not busy for happy hour. Win for us! The wings were so flavorful with the right amount of heat. The hummus and bread was also delicious. I love the variety of sauce options! The dark horse for me the fried cheese. Yum! Two of us ordered at the counter with no line on a Wednesday night, because their online ordering didn't have all of their sides that are listed on the paper menu. The woman who took our order said it was because they were sold out. Regardless, still an easy ordering system. The food took a little long to come out to the table, but it was DELICIOUS. On our first night visiting Chicago, my daughter wanted to have dinner at Nando's Peri Peri. It was conveniently located within a short walk from our hotel.
