She settled on a tuna sandwhich and I had the wreck. Both were solid sandwhiches with no issues with services. This location seems to cater to a lot of staff at Northwestern Medical during the lunch rush, but the lines still move swiftly which is good. My go tos here... The Wreck sandwich (Salami, roast beef, oven roasted turkey, hickory smoked ham with melted Swiss cheese topped with fresh lettuce, tomato and mayo on your choice of bread) or the Italian sandwich (capicola, mortadella, pepperoni and salami with provolone cheese topped with fresh lettuce, tomato, mayo and Italian seasoning on your choice of bread). Never gone wrong with a sandwich from here, and as of late typical split a Mediterranean salad (grilled chicken breast, crumbled feta cheese, artichokes, roasted red peppers, crisp cucumbers, diced red onion, hummus and Italian seasoning on a bed of fresh romaine, iceberg and spinach) with the boo-thang. But then I think, "Why would I miss out on the opportunity to have that awesome roast beef again?" And then I revert to my usual. If you're in a sandwich mood, what's your alternative? Subway? Feh. Occasionally I throw "A Wreck" (rukey, slamin, roast beef, ham, swiss cheese) into the mix to complement my sandwich intake. Service is slow even when it is not busy, but the staff is friendly. My go to potbelly's because of location - when you order in person it's not bad at all, but if you order online for pick up, most likely your order will not be prepared when you arrive. I've ordered through pick up twice and twice I have arrived and have seen that my order was not prepared. I'm not sure if they've forgotten or don't have somebody on the online orders section manning those stations. When I received my pickup order the sandwich was wrong. The staff is friendly so I wasn't mad at all - they corrected the situation. But it's obvious that their pick up process and that's not the workers' fault. I suggest working on a way for one or two workers to operate the pick up station to ensure orders are being rolled over properly and less chaos. Thanks! read more

Just wanted to express how unprofessional the sandwich prepper is at this location, the kid with the glasses to be specific. I have not been to potbelly in a while and decided to go to this location and my first visit back was just ok because they did not have the signature sandwich "The Wreck" and the kid laughed about it. I asked why because maybe there was a shortage or sold out or something but the kid again laughed like you are S.O.L. so ok I ordered the chicken club which was dry and bland not to mention in a bag on display on top of the oven for all to see how it comes in. Not very appetizing... anyway I went in the next day because I really wanted to have a "Wreck" and again the same kid laughing like the jokes on you, we are going to sell you what we have so I asked for the manager and no manager was in that day. So I made sense, the kids were left behind to run the shop and that says a lot for the youth that is given a chance to show initiative and take charge but very disappointing because the level of professionalism when you are being paid to do a job was not there. Everybody has to start somewhere but for potbelly to drop standards just to have a body in a position to push those sandwiches through an oven is not going to help the business at all and this experience proves that point very clearly. Do better potbelly, and make sure your employees care about the customer because it is how your shop will survive. Much though I enjoy potbelly whenever I'm in Chicago (much better than the national chain sub shops) I do have to dock them one star for the poor corporate decision to eliminate their small size milkshake; it was the only milkshake that was an appropriate size and price for a rational adult who hadn't just run a marathon. But then I noticed a "perk" in the app & asked if I could redeem it. The cashier and other employee were trying to be helpful. They got what I assume was the manager on duty to help remove the charge of my "free" item. She was quite curt, and barked about how I needed to have added the item when I placed the order. Expected ready time was 330. I arrive at 330, there's no sandwich. No big deal, but as I wait there's an employee computer training at the register? He didn't speak. Preface: I love Potbelly's! Period. The two stars are for this location only -- specifically, b/c it's not stroller/wheelchair accessible. Found this out after speedwalking here, hungry for lunch, after a dentist appt. After navigating the entrance (uphill, always tricky w/ a stroller), I was stunned to see another short flight of stairs to the order line. If I was with someone else, it'd be doable. But I wasn't, so we left disappointed. I wound up soothing myself with a Potbelly's fix in the burbs, capped by a mocha shake. EDIT 1/25/07: A Yelper who used to work here was nice enough to PM me to let me know that there is, apparently, an elevator on the premises. I am glad to hear it: I'll head here when I'm next in the neighborhood. But I do think they should have more prominent signage re: the elevator. read more

I'll start with the food - my sandwich was okay. The bread seemed stale, and there were some rogue ingredients that I hadn't ordered. I'll assume that's because this location was understaffed - when I arrived in the middle of a rush, a sole employee was making sandwiches, milkshakes and running the register. Though another employee and the manager eventually came out to help, it didn't do much to expedite the process. What made this a particularly negative experience was watching the manager yell at the first employee. He (politely, I might add) asked her to fix a check that he had accidentally messed up. In front of everyone in line, she lectured him on needing to be more careful, and that he "cost us $3.90." Aside from her inability to differentiate between food costs and menu prices, the "problem" could have been avoided entirely had she a) staffed properly or b) been available to help the employee during a rush. read more

The sandwiches and service are great, especially for how cheap everything is. It can get a bit busy during the lunch hour, but the line usually goes by in less than 15 minutes even if it is backed up to the door. I would recommend trying the Wreck on their new flatbread - my new favorite go-to when I'm here. I also always get a brownie cookie when they aren't sold out. Oh, and they also have a secret menu of sandwiches that Potbelly employees are trained to make but aren't listed on the in-store menu. So here goes my lovely potbelly story. One rainy night I was too lazy to cook so I walked my lazy ass down the street to the nearest potbelly. I walk in there are about a total of 3 people in line and prolly 5 workers, one of which is singing at the top of her lungs singing some laaame song. What is this, Coldstone? Please stop signing. SO I walk up to order my sandwich--it takes the sandwich making guy like legit 7 minutes to slap some turkey on my wheat bread and sent it through the oven, then I have to wait another 8 mintes before the next guy is ready to put the rest of the jazz of my sandwich all the while I'm thinking to myself, " what the shit is taking so long!?!" The young African American guy who makes the half ass sandwiches and salads is the worse and should be reported. He is rude, lacks customer service and can not make a decent sandwich or salad without the attitude or a million questions regarding the order. I heard him call a customer baby when she asked for additional peppers which was sexist af in which his co-worker laughed. Our sandwiches were thrown together and salad was missing ingredients.
