I had heard great things about the food and was eager on a cold night not to go out to find sustenance. I placed my order at 6 PM through Postmates and was surprised that the estimated delivery was scheduled for 55 minutes later. Oh well, that will just increase my appetite. At 6:55 PM it was changed to 7:05 and then 7:15 and then at 7:20 I tried to contact the driver whose email was forwarded to a different number that went straight to voice mail. I then contacted customer service who after 45 minutes more responded, "Thanks for placing an order from Nando's PERi-PERi with Postmates! I did some research and it looks like your order is running a tad bit behind." Well this was now more than an hour late and I decided to make some pasta. I watched the progress of my delivery which was 10 minutes later all night long. This morning I read this email: "Rikesha C. (Postmates) Nov 20, 9:31 PM EST Hi Golden, Thanks for placing an order from Nando's PERi-PERi with Postmates! It looks like your order is on the way to you. We're always happy to help, so please let me know if you need a hand with anything else. As a token of our apology, we've issued a delivery credit of $7.49 that will automatically apply to this or your next Postmates order. In addition, we've removed $3.13 from your order total. This will show on the final receipt or as a refund in the next 5-10 days It is now almost 10 AM the next morning and all that they have done is charge my card and give me a $3.13 credit for something that they knew was at least 2 1/2 hours late and a credit for delivery even though there wasn't supposed to be a delivery charge. I'm really disappointed in my experience last night at this location. I'm a returning customer who generally enjoys their food but last night was very frustrating. I ordered a diet pop with my meal that came in a bottle for COVID protection - fine. It was completely flat before even opening it. I check the expiration date - August 2020. Obviously expired pop won't hurt anyone but for $3 I want something that tastes the way it's supposed to. I return the pop to the counter and they give me another one...flat and expired. Then, I ordered the roasted vegetables as a side. They were cold. Not just not warm...actually cold like they had been taken out of a fridge. After already complaining about the pop twice, I was too frustrated to speak up again. For a $16 meal, I was really disappointed. Won't be going back any time soon if that's how it'll be. read more

The cashier first of all just didn't hand my change back, so I said politely "We'll I guess toss it in the tip jar!" It was twelve dollars, I hadn't look at my receipt yet. That was like a 45% tip on my order, but I digress. After getting my food, I realize this same cashier forgot an entire entree on my order, so I went back and asked for it. They then charged me full price for it, and it took them a good long time to realize I was even using my card and trying to pay. I wasn't offered anything, even after I donated my change earlier because the cashier just like forgot to give me my money back, not even like an I'm sorry. Their food quality and quantity is great, ordering is fast and easy, and their service was great. All in all, I had an amazing experience here, from their decor all the way to their food and staff- everything was great and now I can't wait to go back and eat the BONELESS (take that crazy (once again, read: lying) best friend!!) chicken with all their different sauces!! After being spurned by the kiddie Kuma's and its obvious wait, Nando's it was. Chicken is healthier than beef anyway, right? Nando's has kind of a Carnivale-like vibe to it--except Nando's has way more of a crush to it due to close quarters and is way more frantic, structured and regimented in its churn and burn approach. The system at Nando's is almost a scientific formula and ends up having the feel of arriving at the concentration camp for processing. Upon arrival, you're greeted by the host and handed a menu, which is extensive and will need to be studied, and a table number. Pro tip: review the menu online prior to arrival to avoid being caught up in the system. You'll have zero control over your table and will be pointed in the general direction of its location. While you're studying the menu in the sluice area between the host and the order counter the employees will direct you to "move over to the booths" on the left rather than stand on the wall to the right. This happened twice. It's your first indication you're in their system. Once you decide, you approach the counter and place your order and pay your damages. Nando's isn't cheap. Pro tip: stay away from the cheap wine, especially the cabernet sauvig-NON! After you order and pay you go on your journey to locate your temporary barracks, er, table by walking in the general direction pointed out by the host and then matching your number with the number on the table. And then you wait for your soup and your slice of bread, er, your chicken and sides. This place is so regimented the wine was already on the table prior to arrival. Those guys in central Europe several decades back have nothing on these guys. As to the most important part: Chicken breast sandwich...pretty darn good, but I'd rather it were pounded thin. Mashed red skinned potatoes...O'Delicioso. Grilled corn on the cob...very good sweet charred taste. Vino...non, non, non. I'd say the food was pretty good and a return visit is warranted. I can't say I like the whole overly structured system employed or the organized chaos of the place. It might be better suited as a lunch place. It's 3-1/2 clucks. Is it fair to compare, sure when it's the same operation. I was more impressed with the location on Delano. I had the same wrap here and found it smaller, less chicken and not as much lettuce. This time I ordered the coleslaw as a side, I was hoping for it to be a bit different, however it was pretty standard. Having lunch with a friend of mine this time, she just ordered a side of veggies, the cashier who I believe looked as if he was the manager should have suggested that I just place the one order with two sides, instead of mine alone with one, and her order. It would have been a buck or two less. Not that it's their responsibility too, however when I was a server I used to make suggestions like this all the time. The portions are comfortable but are not really worth the price you are paying. The rice and mashed potatoes are a safe option for sides but if you are adventurous, I'd recommend trying the Macho Peas as well. I got the flame-grilled chicken breast with Medium sauce and my friends enjoyed their Country Salad (very generously portioned) and Halloumi Wrap. Be wary that the Medium spice is comfortably spicy so do not try any hotter unless you are used to Habaneros and Jalapenos. They also have sauces on the side so don't be afraid to experiment with their various garlic, herb, and citrus sauces. Nando's is great for larger groups. Be sure to take advantage of their loyalty card rewards or order take-out if you are in a rush. It's truly a unique offering in terms of food. read more

I ordered through phone beforehand but I was still in line for a solid 5-10 minutes before I could pick up my food. The restaurant is huge but pretty empty at 6:30pm. No problem finding a seat. The food was not as good as I had hoped. I got a half chicken. The breast was dry and flavorless, but the leg is juicy and more tasty. Next time I would come for the leg quarter only. Unfortunately, the menu items aren't the same and the price is insane. I got one chicken breast and a leaf salad to go, for $13.73! As an additional bummer, I got the order for take-out and didn't realize until I got home that they didn't include any kind of dressing. The other Nando's I've been to include dressing and a few packets of peri-peri sauce by default. Not here. I had been to a Washington DC location before and so was able to improve upon my ordering the second time around. Ordered the lemon herb, mango-lime, and plain wings, and we were happy with how they came out - they are grilled and so slightly charred but not overcooked. We really like the peri-naise, which is an aioli-like sauce. Kids meals are pretty good here, and the staff was accommodating to talk me through the allergen chart at their register. This location opened literally today. I couldn't be happier that there's a Nando's so close to where I live. It's located in the heart of Lakeview. It's very lively, clean, positive and vibrant inside. Service was prompt and positive. We got a great rundown on the menu and serving while we were in line. They were clearly very organized and prepared for a rush for their first day. The chicken itself was amazing. It was so flavorful. There's a multitude of different flavors including lemon herb, mild, wild, hot, and extra hot. Each flavor offered something different and the extra hot wasn't so hot that it scalded my mouth. The fries were great and the mayonnaise that comes with them is unbelievable. I am also being told by my fiancé the sangria is also very good. Ordered a chicken breast seasoned "hot" with a side of veggies and fries with the dipping sauce. The chicken breast seasoning was not very hot (despite being just one level lower than the hottest), and the serving of veggies and fries was small. $20 bucks with tip and I left pretty underwhelmed. I had been to their location on Clybourne before so I thought I knew what to expect. I waited about twenty minutes for my order when I very apologetic employee told me how sorry he was that my order was taking so long. I didn't really understand what the hold-up was as there seemed to be plenty of people who ordered carryout after me who were getting their orders. Nevertheless, I wasn't that frustrated because I wasn't in any rush. However, I didn't get my food for another 20 minutes so that wasn't great. Someone who I presumed to be the manager gave me a free drink which definitely made the wait not seem as bad. As far as the actual food, it was pretty mediocre. Kind of a weird review but the skin-to-actual chicken ratio was very strange. I felt like the chicken thighs were all skin and barely any chicken. Additionally, the sides were terribly portioned. They came in these itty bitty containers and were probably good enough for two fork fulls. I had gotten that sweet potato side dish before at the other location and I remember it being much better last time. What I got was really dry and had no flavor. Overall, the $20 I spent was not worth it at all and I likely will not return to this location. I really liked this place! A unique spin on chicken and counter-service dining. I ordered the half chicken with lemon sauce and a side of mashed potatoes. It was $12 which is CHEAP for the size and quality of food. The lemon sauce was delightfully spicy, but also had flavor aside from spice. The mashed potatoes were heavenly, red - skin potatoes with garlic, my favorite! Even though it was counter-service, servers came around frequently to refill drinks and ask if we were enjoying our meals. Overall my meal was ok, nothing to drag me out of the burbs for. Its rather expensive for what it really is and the smaller portions that are served. The chicken breast and thighs were flavourful, juicy, and tender. The roast corn-on-the-cob was excellent. My wife raves about the mashed potatoes and the chips (fries) were very good too, though I prefer mine without spice. We tried the Nantas (warmed custard tarts w/cinnamon) which were fantabulous! And my wife had the brownie, which she said had a wonderful flavour and texture. We will be back again. Hearing about this restaurant chain made me curious to try it out. I absolutely love chicken. I had gone there for lunch with a friend on a Friday evening. We had chose the location off of Diversey in Chicago. What caught my eye at first were the swinging chairs they had in the window. Luckily we were able to sit on them (mind you not the most comfortable spot to eat your food). Walking in we were greeted by a gentleman that had asked us if this was our first time. I had said no, he said greeted me with a warm and welcome and a high five! This already gave me a good taste of great customer service. Nonetheless we ordered the platter which included a whole chicken and two sides. Which we chose our two sides to be the chips (which are their fries) and the rice. The wait time was maybe less than 15 minutes which was great because we were starving! The over all quality of the food was AMAZING! And the garlic sauce they serve on the side made it even better. The food here was delicious. I got the half chicken with lemon herb sauce and sides of garlic bread and corn on the cob. The chicken was moist and flavorful. I regret not getting the mango lime sauce, as the lemon wasn't my favorite, but it was still good overall. The garlic bread was amazing -- the bread had the right amount of crunch and softness. They provide a small packet of butter to go with it. And the corn on the cob was just right. I went on a Saturday afternoon around 2PM, and the restaurant was practically empty though more people started to come in while I was there. There is ample seating inside, including round tables, mini booths, full booths, and bar-style seating. You order at the register and then the food is brought to you, though this wasn't explained very well by the guy at the register. There's a sign near the door that says to wait until someone greets you, but there was no hostess. Regardless, they told me my dish would take 15 minutes, but it came out in about half the time. I will definitely be coming back, as I love simple dishes like chicken and rice. Not sure if this place is authentically Portuguese, but it tasted good and that's what matters to me. read more
