The interior has a cozy vibe with a nice mix of Asian-inspired décor, giving it a unique and inviting feel. They offer a digital menu, which I thought was pretty cool. We decided to try a few dishes: the chicken steamed dumplings, chicken fried rice, and sweet and sour chicken. The dumplings were perfectly steamed and packed with flavor, the fried rice had just the right balance of savory and fresh ingredients, and the sweet and sour chicken was crispy and satisfying. About 10 years ago, I ate at Nanking and didn't have a great experience. Fast forward to 2026--some colleagues suggested giving it another try, so I decided to order from here. Unfortunately, the experience was even worse this time. I ordered noodles and chili chicken. The noodles were undercooked, and the chicken tasted old and not fresh. I am so disappointed. First of all, the bathrooms were so disgusting that my party and I couldn't even use them. There was also a very unpleasant smell in the air that made my sister physically sick. This establishment is a complete FAIL. A BIG F minus. Now, lets me explain to you my reasoning for the grade: 1. OVERPRICED: The prices are elevated 20x actual cost per ingredients minus overhead. If you do the calculations, we're talking 200% profit per dish based on volume of food minus the overhead and landed. 2. SERVICE: You will be waiting 30+ min to just get a waiter to take your order. Once you place the order, expect to wait another another 20-30 min. Their is a 50% probability the waiter will misunderstand you and get you the wrong dish. 3. CLEANLINESS: The table we were assigned was dirty and still had residue from previous customers food. The place has a nauseating odor, almost that of vomit mixed with dog feces. Is it possible due to the waiters lack of cleaning tables? Maybe right? 4. FOOD: The food lacks certain spices that make the food authentic Indian. Based on a personal experience: I had experienced severe diarrhea upon consumption of meat product. It's possible the meat was not cooked properly or expired? Visited the place on a Sunday evening with friends and was a lil underwhelmed with the experience. Like most restaurants they seemed to be short on staff so the service was slow (appetizers came at a reasonable time but the main course took a while). So each time I've gone here it's gotten better and better. There was a time about a year ago where the food wasn't the greatest but even since then we decided to give it a few more chances and the food is just outstanding. The service is great, the appetizers are great, they could be a little more generous with the pours of alcohol they put in the cup but other than that it is a great spot. We always get their lamb chops, mixed grill, chicken tikka masala naan and some other dishes. The inside is beautiful as well. The negatives at this restaurant clearly take away from the positives. The menu is extensive (Four Stars). I enjoyed what I ordered (Three Stars). However, the restaurant is grossly overpriced for the small portion of food received (value for the money - One Star). The decor is tasteful inside, but the tables appear to be too close together for private conversation (Three Stars). The restroom is down a full flight of stairs, through a small hallway, a turn and up three stairs, clearly not well suited for the handicapped (One Star). The wait staff, one lady was friendly and pleasant, the other man and woman were not (Two Stars). Your dining dollars can go much further at other restaurants. read more

Unscrupulous swindlers comes to mind here. Dined on a Groupon food was okay, but place looks like in need of deep cleaning. Faint lipstick marks on glass, smudges. Red fabric needed to be cleaned. Usually this place is dimly lit but for very early dinner, the sunlight was bright and you could see all the imperfections and dinginess. So here comes the check and we calculated very carefully how much our Groupon was for. The bill was for $1.07 + $9.84 gratuity!!! They arbitrarily gave themselves a 20% tip and didn't mention it and if you look at the bill closely they also had a line for gratuity and a calculated amount underneath. To add insult to injury when I paid w a $20 bill, he had the nerve to ask if I wanted change back. Whaaat? You expect an additional 9.09 tip? For a total of $19+ tip ??? Then when he gave me my change, he short changed me .09! I wasn't gonna argue about the sneaky 20% tip or shorted .09, but you can be sure I'm yelping and never ever coming back. My advice, don't use Groupon to take advantage of potential diners. I usually leave a good tip on groupons but resent you automatically assume you deserve 20% tip you don't deserve. We asked the mgr what % they calculated tip at and he said 18%, but after calculating, its clear he lied. He just arbitrarily padded the bill. Pretty pathetic and sad. Bad move. We had my daughter's surprise birthday party at Nanking in their private party room in the back. And we left very very happy. They gave us a wide array of different foods to suit all palates. Appetizers included samosas, mixed grill, grilled lotus, and so much more. Main course was plentiful and they even packed us some food to take home! The wait staff that helped us was amazing and took care of all our needs. Our party was about 40 people and a mix crowd of young adults and adults. Came on a Friday night it was pretty busy! The menus are extensive but there really is something for everyone. For appetizer we had the chili garlic shrimp and pan fried chili chicken, both of which were great. The red snapper tasted frozen and not recommended, the nanking fried rice was a good side. The lamb vindaloo is spicy and lives up to its name! There is a lot on the menu to try still looking for our staples but so far all the appetizers we've had are delish. The parking situation is pretty crowded always, but the food was good but the catering we ordered for a party was even better! Great quality and quantity for your money. Nanking in New Hyde Park is definitely open, now if only it was better. Given what's going on, I don't like leaving less than a stellar review, but the meal was what it was. Ordered online from their website and got no update as to the approximate time the food would be ready. Showed up 30 minutes after the order and it wasn't ready yet. Had to way a little over 5 more minutes. I had the Lamb in Oyster Sauce. The sauce was good, not great. Unfortunately, the lamb was very tough and chewy. I really wanted to like this place, but because of the poor service, it's really hard to. The price is also pretty expensive ($18.99 for chicken tikka masala and the portion size isn't enough). THE WORST PART is with my friend's dish. He asked for achari chicken, which he waited nearly an hour for. He was so frustrated that he asked the waiter to cancel his order, which the waiter has no problem doing. Now I don't know if the chicken was in the process of being made, but it shouldn't take that long to make some grill chicken. The waiters were nice, however the wait time for the food is just too much, especially if you didn't eat anything the whole day. The food here is excellent. Very flavorful like Indian food is supposed to be. This place serves both Indian and Thai dishes so there's plenty of options to chose from. We started off with the Samosa Chaat. It was so good that I was thinking of placing another order of it. I enjoyed all the main dishes that I tried. This includes the Yellow Thai Chicken Curry, the Chicken Tikka Masala and also the Chili Fried Lamb. The decor is very nice and doesn't look like a cheap restaurant. Our go to place for Indian style Chinese food. For those unfamiliar with this cuisine, it is a bit close to Sichuan style but with some Indian twist and ingredients (Paneer for example). You can hardly go wrong with anything you order here, though I'll skip their Kai Chi. They regular Indian food is very good as well. I've also hosted many parties here for about 50 to 80 guests and they're quite reasonably priced even after including hard liquor. read more

You would go to the early dinner special and they would still charge you full price, until you called them out on it. I'm sure they're still doing that. We went to their lunch buffet this week and upon checkout, the waiter tagged on 18% gratuity. When I questioned him on it he said sorry and will take it off. I told him don't worry about it. I live for the lollipop chicken appetizer. So damn good! It's called something else on the menu now so be sure to ask for it by name. My buddy's first time eating this food and he loved it! We ordered the lamb rogan josh and the lamb korma. The rogan josh was dark brown and more Tomatoey while the Korma was super rich and creamy. Out of the two the korma was the best! This is now my favorite Thai/Chinese/Indian restaurant in town imagine three different cuisine under one roof how rare is that. If you want great food this is the place to go. The people are fantastic. The chef John he is wonderful he came out personally spoke with us, he explained how he will cook our food, he will happily oblige just ask for him. The food was delicious, perfectly cooked, the presentation was excellent, hot temperature and very tasty. The nan was the best I ever had. We got the mix grill and it was full of dry lamb which was horrible, 1 lamb dry lamb chops, 1 shrimp and full of other chicken stuff... For $40 .. green curry tasted watered down, noodle soup had no flavor, Tom yum was okay. Manchurian chicken tasted so sad with tiny pieces.
