We got the mix grill and it was full of dry lamb which was horrible, 1 lamb dry lamb chops, 1 shrimp and full of other chicken stuff... For $40 .. green curry tasted watered down, noodle soup had no flavor, Tom yum was okay. Manchurian chicken tasted so sad with tiny pieces. They don't serve beef and they don't know how to cook lamb at all. We asked for the tamerand sauce to add some flavor and the waiter was being so cheap about it. Tip is included... My go-to place for Indian food. I have been here dozens of times, I'm guilty of always getting the same thing - chicken tikka masala and lamb panang curry(this one is from the Thai menu). I am IN LOVE with the two dishes!! I've also tried the lamb vindaloo - good if you like spice! Salmon tikka is also good. Service is good here as well. Design of the place is phenomenal. Happy hour discount from 5-7 PM is awesome. Have yet to try their lunch! My only complaint is that the thai iced tea could have more flavor. read more

This restaurant is one of the few Indian restaurants in LI that has nice decor and ambiance. Unfortunately the service is usually very slow and the food is inconsistent. We usually order the same items and sometimes it's delicious and at other times it's bland. The last time we came here, we hosted a dinner for about 15 people and the food was cold. The naan also took forever to come out. Make reservations for weekends because there usually is a wait at prime dinner time. The one thing that is consistently yummy is their paan ice cream. I went here for my birthday dinner in November. I'd heard good reviews from my aunt so I decided to give it a try. We were seated immediately and the place was pretty empty, - expected since it was a Monday night. So we were seated and given 8 huge, bulky menus. I got that one was the Indian menu and one was Chinese/Thai but it made reading them clumsy. We ordered the chicken spring rolls and sweet and spicy chicken for appetizers and Thai iced tea. For the main course I had Spicy Fried Rice, which was excellent. We also ordered a Tandoori Murgha, Lamb Rogan Josh (with naan), and some great fish (see pic) I cant remember the name. I food was quite good but the service was disappointing. Our waitress didn't seem knowledgeable and she certainly wasn't attentive. The worst part was waiting for 30 minutes for my Thai iced tea. By the time it came I had forgotten I ordered it. She gave a weak excuse about having to brew a fresh pot, but it tasted weak. I've been to Nanking a couple times. Whenever I go, it's mainly for lunch because their prices are crazy on the regular. I went there one time for dinner and our bill came up to almost $125 for four people. The lunch deal is pretty decent. For about $10, you can choose from a variety of entrees along with that you get your choice of soup between Sweet and Sour/Sweet corn and a bowl of white rice. My brother and I usually get Pad Thai noodles and Chili Paneer which are both pretty good. Today when we went, we thought we'd try something new so we ordered Yellow Curry and Hakka vegetable noodles. The yellow curry was OK and I felt the Hakka noodles were good but I could make the same at home so nothing special. Whenever we go we get everything with vegetables because we are vegetarian. I must admit, though, that their FBI (Fried Banana w/ Ice cream) dessert is to die for. I can go there just for that. The servings size are decent, the service is very nice, and the atmosphere is beautiful (very relaxed). They do have their own parking area which is a good thing. I'd def. recommend this place but if you don't want to empty out your wallet, I'd suggest to go there for lunch. They are open for lunch, I believe between 12-3:30pm and then they close the kitchen down to prepare for dinner (don't ask, I was pretty confused as well). read more

Mish-Mosh Cuisines. Is it Thai? Is it Indian? Is it even Chinese? Hard to tell - they have all these types of cuisines on the menu but from what I have seen it appears to be Indian but they cook other cuisines too. They tend to push the Indian stuff and since the menu is all lumped together trying to sort it out can be a little confusing. The place is very nice inside - a lot of bamboo and dark colors. Looks like a great place to bring a date. The food was fine. Was it authentic? It was close, but I'd say it was more Thai style (I was in the mood for Thai) that anything else. I didn't try the Indian or Chinese dishes - yet. Tom Yam soup was ok- they gave me the white-boy version when I wanted the Thai version. On a second try I got one that peeled my lips back with heat.... mmmmmmmmmmm my kind of Tom Yam. Lychee martinis are good (don't try them at lunch though!) and the prices seemed fair. The restaurant was beautiful when we walked in. We were a table of 4 and seated right away. Food took a long time to get to our table, but once it came it was pretty good. We each had two rounds of drinks, we ordered blue margarita but she brought regular margarita to our table and said they ran out of what we ordered. Since the drink took a long time, we took the drink. Once the check came, it all went downhill from there. They added two items in the bill that we never ordered, I brought this upto the waitresses attention and she adjusted it for us. She definitely thought we wouldn't notice her scam but we sure did! Gratuity was added to the bill for a table of 4 and the waitress expected more tips when she returned our change. You don't need to make a reservation. At this location it's never that filled unless it's lunch time because they offer a buffet. I haven't been to lunch here so this review is for dinner time. First off, let me say I am in love with the decor. I would definitely come here on a date. It's spacious, nicely lit room, great decor and still offering a good amount of privacy. However when I walked in, it did take a while for them to notice us there. Which was sad considering that the place was empty. When we finally got seated they provided us with both the Indian and Chinese menu. My selections were off the Indian menu. We got the mango lassi, which was delicious. We also got the bread basket with palak paneer and the tandoori grill mix. The tandoori mix was delicious. All the meats were prepared and and cooked to perfection. The palak paneer was decent. I wouldn't recommend the bread basket. I couldn't tell what was what and think they forgot to put all the variety. I would just stick to the naans I like next time. Needless to say I did leave very full. This place can definitely improve on some meals. But I do like the idea of it. I'd still recommend someone to try it at least once. read more

The monchow soup was bland and had no flavor, it was the first time I saw a clear colored monchow soup. The masala fries had no masala. The veg noodles had a piece of chicken in it, absolutely unacceptable. The waiters were very apologetic but come on, things that have to do with peoples dietary restrictions should always be correct. What made me finally stop in to check it out was a Bridal Shower I was attending. They had reserved a private room. I walked in and everyone had rosy cheeks and fanning themselves because the room was so hot. I took my assigned seat and right next to my table on the windowsill was a dead bug. The room is very spacious and beautiful decor. They had a buffet set up and an open bar...if you can even call it that. Someone asked for a mimosa and they didn't have champagne to make it. Someone else asked for vodka, orange juice and a splash of cranberry juice....they didn't have any juices at the bar....the guy had to go to the other side of the main restaurant and get all the mixes...that took about 5 minutes. I asked for a simple glass of pinot grigio and I also had to wait about 10 minutes for them to bring me a MOSCATO from the other side of the restaurant. I would have been very upset if I paid per person for an open bar. Nothing impressed me about the food. For me the flavor was not there. The presentation of the food was not there. The only thing I enjoyed was the Nan bread and the Fried bananas and ice cream. After dessert was all said and done, people starting leaving. It wasn't until then that they brought out tea! Service was terrible. Had to ask the guy several times for water. A guy walked around with a tray of sodas. He came to our table asked if we wanted soda...someone asked what kind.... he said soda..... she asked for a coke.... he walked away! Another guy came to our table to say the food is ready go serve yourselves. We shrugged it off because we recognize that English was not his primary language. As a parent I can say this restaurant isn't for kids especially if they're the ones who like to fuss,cry and walk around it's an open place no booths so it would be fair to say that it's wouldn't be fair to the other customers.. The food is delicious. The service was slow. We were ignored for the most part and sat next to the bussing section, so for the entire meal dishes were clanking next to us. We were a party of two, and the remaining plates never removed. They were only noticed after i pushed them out of the way. Our server, Johny, seemed irritated every time we called for assistance. Idk he was a having a bad day, which I doubt because he was quite amicable with everyone else, but he was awful. Ask for anyone else. Will never return. Sadly the latest experience with the great Nanking was a poor one, very sad to see the quality and service dip so badly. During the pandemic, indoor dining has been limited a lot which is understandable due to covid cases rising. At the door they do a temperature check, which is fine-- but often not reliable especially under the next conditions I noticed. The dinner was with my family and I for a dinner, our first time in months dining out. The six feet apart mantra that is reinstated in navy restaurants was not followed, in fact Nanking was very crowded and the closeness between tables (at least in my case was not entirely six feet apart). At first it was but the managers and limited crew members seem to be pushing in as many people as they can. There is big gatherings at the restaurant, and managers had a very poor attitude. Upon being asked about masala tea, that was made by Mr. AJ Manoj in the past visits who took it upon himself to make it (Im unsure if he's there anymore), the manager in a striped black suit on Friday (4/23) rudely responded with "We're busy we can't do all of that and make fresh tea". We asked and just gave a pause when he said no masala cha was available and he snapped with this comment sadly. Still, trying to give things a try since we came a long way (it wasn't too crowded yet either) we didn't say anything. Sadly, the same manager was dictating what to get often saying "oh that's more than enough", there wasn't suggestions but him simply limiting down the food options. Many were also fasting, so naturally they were hungry and it was a birthday. He didn't inform us that a naan covers the biryani, and made us buy an extra naan. Nevertheless, we still gave it a try. The food didn't hold up to standards, the mango lassi was not fresh; it was warm and sour. The chicken tikka masala was bland, and oddly heavy. The biryani was a bit over done, and the naans were burnt on many edges. The servers are very limited which is understandable during the pandemic, however there was a lot of bickering and overall anger with the overworked servers as they hustled and tried to attend to everyone. The managers were helping, but most had a horrible attitude. The bill was costly, which is expected here but the food and service were not up to par. The man with the striped black suit did not come back at all to give us our bill, another manager had to be called for this. He did not check in with us, nor did he offer any pleasing service that night. Sadly again, the standards have dropped. There's too much people being allowed in, the six feet apart mantra is not being followed well, people are everywhere, servers are being overworked, and managers have no decent attitude with customers. The bright side is that the soups and dumplings did hold up to standards, those weee made well! Everyone enjoyed them, but the overall experience was disheartening and a very sad reality to accept. read more

Ambiance is nice and restaurant is always busy. I been here on two occasions once on a Friday night an hour before closing 10 pm and Friday night for dinner at 730. Parking lot is big not a problem there. The reason we came is because my coworkers have dietary restrictions and this place happens to be Halal. Service can be hit or miss. I had two very different dining experiences. At the prices we paid service should always be on point. I love the Nan here and all the dishes that you can dip it with: vindaloo, rogan josh, tikka masala. I would also suggest the lolipop chicken and hakka chicken noodles. The portions are rather large so you can eat family style if you like. I like the food but feel it is overpriced. I will give the other restaurants in this chain a shot. read more

There was a need to use one of my vouchers and this place is in restaurant.com website participating list. I am not a fan of any spicy dishes but my family is so I said why not to try what they offer for dinner. The voucher is good only for take out. I Called in to place my order 20 minutes before my expected arrival and the guy I spoke with was friendly. He Assured me that it will be ready by the time I come . He did not give me hard time about using my voucher. The dining place is impressive. Dark, red themed, business casual ambiance, with cathedral chandeliers and authentic decors that complimented the place. It looks like a good place for party or big company. Lots of Zagat and New York Times reviews in plaques are hanging by the waiting room. Can't see the details though as it is dark. I may try to come back with family or friends for dine in experience. They served Asian fusion dishes - Indian, Thai, Chinese. I placed an order to sample one kind from each . We had Thai's fried gingered sauced Red snapper, India's Nan fried rice and bread and the Singapore curried noodles. My family loved it all. Oh my, oh my, it's spices still gives a kick for me although I already ask for mild servings. Probably next time, I ll have my portion free of spices. :) The spices and the flavor had been missed by the hubby as it has been a while the last time he had Asian fusion food. My daughter finds the fish very oily, or was it because it was wrapped in a foil and it didn't get good oil absorption. My mistake was that I kept it sealed until time to eat it, thinking to keep it warmI should have transferred it to a plate instead. The curried noodles has eggs on it or it maybe the chicken but whatever it was, it added some flavor to it. Just the snappers ginger sauce alone tasted well when blended with the complimentary plain rice. For me , my most favorite is their grilled Nan bread (as it has no spices on it lol!) but honestly, the best Nan bread I have tasted. Overall , food was delicious, pricey for take out meal though but glad I had voucher to cover for it . It made me focused my review on the food's quality instead of complaining about the prices for its serving portion. Recommended if you are into these kind of dishes, if not(like me), go for a regular Chinese take out. read more

This review is for their catering service, which I used for my wedding. We had our wedding at Crest Hollow Country Club last year and Harkesh did an amazing job. We met with Harkesh a few times before the wedding to set up the menu and he did an amazing job recommending different types of dishes. They were all phenomenal! In addition to the different types of dishes he put together a well curated cocktail hour with different types of live stations. We were blown away when we walked into the cocktail hour. The restaurant itself looks nice, but everything from the restrooms to the food are not pleasant. I first went to the restroom and I was disgusted! The toilets were all clogged and only one stall had toilet paper. To top it off, the soap dispenser barely worked. The sink also filled up as I was washing my hands. It is currently winter, but Nanking did not have a proper heating system. We had to move tables because it was freezing. They moved us next to a small heater. Near the small heater it was much warmer, but later while we were eating, they moved the heater to another table and we felt cold again. The food, the most important part of the restaurant was also not surprisingly, BAD. The paneer tasted like it came out of a freezer, and the fried rice was nothing special. The chicken lollipop looked gross with weird gravy. The wine selection was also pretty limited. The only good aspect of this restaurant is the service, but I DO NOT recommend this restaurant at all. One of the best places to go for authentic Indian food! I love the flavors at Nanking and the staff is really friendly and helpful. Being Indian, I like the fact that the food is absolutely authentic and healthy (not submerged in loads and loads of oil like other places). You won't be disappointed, your stomach will be happy and your wallet won't be completely empty... take it from me, I'm a student again. I have even frequented their New hyde Park location for the lunch buffet when I used to work in the area and I would totally recommend the place to others.
