    Bun Rieu
    C. H.

I do not understand the poor reviews. We ordered take out as I was craving bun rieu. This restaurant popped up in a quick search. There are not many restaurants that offers this menu item so it was an opportunity to taste and compare. We ordered a number of items: bun rieu, lemongrass pork chop, beef skewers and spring rolls. Food was ready in 25 minutes for pick up. Food was packed nicely. The spring rolls were as good as take out can be. It had lost some of the crispiness although I can tell it was made well. Also, I like my spring rolls made with rice paper which these ones are made from. The filling was nicely seasoned. The beef skewers were surprisingly flavourful and tender. I tried a piece of the lemongrass pork chop and it was a bit on the dry side. Lastly, the bun rieu was decent. It was not the worse that I have tried. Definitely, there are better options in Vancouver. However, it satisfied the craving without having to cross a bridge. There were slices of pork, ham, and tomatoes. I could taste some crab flavour. Overall, I enjoyed my meal. Prices were average.

Sen Viet Pho now Naomi Pho!

Saw the reviews of Sen Viet and was interested to try out, drove to Langley from Richmond and found out that they have changed name of the restaurant, asked if this is a new restaurant and the gentleman in charge told me that they have been opened for 10 years and only changed their name. Anyways, we decided to give them a try anyways, we ordered the following items: Young Lotus Root Salad $10.00 5/5 stars I had this salad before in Portland and it was already very delicious, Naomi's version is even more so!! The first bite makes you want to keep eating this salad, the combination of young lotus roots, steamed prawns, julienne of pork, topped with roasted shallots is so well balanced with texture and flavour that it is a perfect light appetizer! The secret is also the dressing; very very light with no oil at all, its sweet, tart, savoury at the same time!! Definitely recommend you try this!! House Special Pho (L) $12.50 4/5 stars My partner's choice whenever he goes to Pho shops! Their version is actually very different then the average Pho, the soup is very very light and clear with no trace of fat whatsoever! The flavour is a bit too light for my taste but my partner totally loves it! Yes, its very light but still you can still taste all the spices, all the different beef cuts in the Pho are all very very tender and not chewy as you may find in most other places. Another difference this Pho is to others; is the lack of cilantro, as you can see from my photo, they only put green onion and regular onion. Sen Viet Special Noodle (soup) $12.00 4/5 stars Lately, I had been exploring different options of soup base other then beef when I go to Pho shops, I love either pork bone or chicken based soups, its lighter and also gives the broth a different dimension. This is a special item that still keeps the "Sen Viet" name, it has slices of lean pork, prawns, dried shrimps, roasted shallots and fresh rice noodles. The dish can be served soup on the side with their own sweet soya sauce, I opt for the soup version, again super clean chicken broth without any traces of oil! the sliced pork is super lean as well, over all its a very very healthy bowl of noodles if you want something very light! Also, they don't put any cilantro as garnish as well, which I really like, maybe I will ask for some next time! Overall score: 5+4+4 = 13/3 = 4.33 stars!

It's so convenient to just pop by and grab a poke bowl and pokerrito. I love how they have such a big selection of fish and toppings to choose from. I used to opt for the pokerrito, but they realllly stuff it and it's been getting really messy, so now I usually go for the regular poke bowl. My favourite combos are their crab meat, edamame, cherry tomatoes, corn, tomago, pineapple and seaweed salad. I especially love how the crab meat tastes (and texture is) exactly like the ones I get from my favourite sushi place. You can choose between brown, white rice, salad, or a mix for the base. However, you just get their kale salad (an extra 1.50?), it's absolutely delicious. Their portion sizes aren't bad either, depending on who makes it. Service is hit or miss! Depending on who works, you'll either get great, good or mid service. I'd say I get at least good service 75% of the time, which is pretty high considering I go pretty often! My only real complaint is that their prices keep going up, up, up (yes I understand inflation) but their portions have been around the same or even less.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE !!…read more Wow, just wow. I've been here a few times before and it has never been THIS bad. Today, we went in. The lady behind the counter could hardly understand me. While taking my order, another women came up and they started looking at an iPad about a SkipTheDishes order. I had to wait for them to finish to keep ordering. They where supposed to put guacamole on my 1 salad, and they charged me for it, plus a random 50 cent charge for banana peppers I never ordered. Like what ? Ok fine. I told them about the 50 cent charge and she just replied "yes". I'm like, why am I being charged for banana peppers I didn't order, again she just says "yes". Frustrated I say ok whatever. No point to argue over a few cents. Go outside, I see not only did they not even put in the banana peppers they charged me for; but, the guacamole I paid $3 for was not in the salad either. So now I've paid $3.50 for things I didn't receive . Pretty irritating ! Open my other salad and they forgot to put tomatoes on it. I go back to the store and ask them, hey, you guys charged me for this and forgot to put it on. She replies "yes, guac is extra" like, I know. I've paid for it but didn't get it. They argued with me for about 5 minutes before handing me a tiny container of guacamole. To top it all off, after arguing, paying nearly $30 for 2 salads, I finally get to eat, and there's a fly in my lettuce. Seriously, I don't understand what happened here today. I was charged for several things I didn't receive, then had to argue to get what I paid for, then I found a fly in my lettuce . I used to come here pretty often but that's going to change. I suggest everybody stay far away- go somewhere else. The chopped leaf down town or the one In Port Coquitlam are MUCH better. You actually get what you pay for without being argued with. Pretty disgusted with my experience here today.

The staff were attentive and friendly throughout, which made the visit feel welcoming. Unfortunately, the food let the whole experience down. Even during happy hour, the prices were on the higher end, and what arrived at the table was cold. For a brunch spot where the meal is supposed to be the centerpiece, that's a hard thing to overlook. I'd love to come back just for drinks and the atmosphere, but until the kitchen catches up with the rest of the experience, I can't recommend it as a food destination. The bones are great -- hopefully the execution follows.

Somehow their system glitched and texted us with a message saying that our place in line was canceled, but when we called in to ask why it got canceled, they said they weren't sure why it happened, but our table would be ready in 18 minutes, so we started heading over from Willowbrook Mall. However, when we got there about 18-20 minutes later, they said our table wasn't ready yet and it would be at least another 15 minutes. Their system is clearly dysfunctional and disorganized. We wasted a significant amount of time for something that should have been time saving and straight forward. Now on with the actual dining experience. We enjoyed their breadsticks, although we did find they had less butter and seasoning on them than before. Their chicken gnocchi soup was satisfying. I enjoyed their chicken masala dish. I enjoyed both fruity ice tea options that they offered. However, neither of them had distinctive flavors. I left very full and had leftovers. Our server was attentive, but not overbearing. The glitches with the reservation were terrible and because of that lowered my rating. Our server for the dining portion of our evening was good.

The bathroom stalls were dirty in the corners and there was a lot of toilet paper on the floor instead of in the toilets, which happened to be un flushed. There was no wait for a table and our request for a booth was granted, conveniently next to a wall plug, which my dying phone desperately needed. Our server was efficient and mostly professional but we could tell something was bothering him. Slight attitude, but we didn't take it personally. At the end he seemed to chipper up and even gave my husband his free Birthday desert with no problems at all. The best part of the entire meal were the breadsticks which were amazing! Soft and warm, with the perfect light crunch on the outside and delicious buttery flavour. The rest of the food sadly wasn't as good as I remembered The salad was a bit lacklustre. Could barely tasted the dressing on it, the lettuce was wilted and the croutons were rock hard. We chose 2 Fettuccine Entrees to share- the crispy chicken Alfredo (which of the two was by far superior) but the sauce was too thick and rich. I couldn't eat much. We also chose the Steak Gorgonzola Fettuccine. It came with Blue Cheese (which overwhelmed the entire dish) spinach & sun-dried tomatoes (barely enough to even mention) and the streak tips which were the best part of the dish. Balsamic was requested on the side as I am not a fan. Once again the Alfredo sauce was way too thick, that along with the overly strong cheeses made it nearly inedible. Perhaps the sauce had sat all day, (as we did come just before 9pm) but one would hope that it would still be made fresh ?? I ordered a Bellini after our server confirmed they did have a blender. Sadly this was not the type of Bellini that you would normally get at say Joeys or Cactus or even Old Spaghetti Factory. It was creamy and kinda bland. A grenadine topper would helped tremendously. Normally I would have mentioned these issues to our server, but the vibe was kinda off so we just didn't bother. Not the best Birthday Dinner, but could of been worse
