Food was very unappealing. The chicken was just okay the thigh was burnt and dry. The sweet plantains were also burnt, dry, and extremely small. The collard greens had no seasoning at all and tasted like watered-down vegetables. The key lime pie was soggy and, on top of that, very small. We were looking for a quick place to eat at 10pm on a Saturday night, and this place was nearby. There's a walk-up counter where you can look at the food laid out in different containers and order, but I would have loved it if the items were labeled or if there were a menu on-site. I asked about a menu and was directed online to search "Naomi Miami," but when I asked for the grouper fillet on the menu online I was told they didn't have it. I got the tofu with rice and the spinach stew, and my boyfriend got the chicken with yellow cornmeal. We haven't had Haitian food, but we both enjoyed our entrees. I've been in the past, but over two years ago, and I'm aware they are not Haitian owned, but have Haitian cooks, so while in the area decided to give them a shot because the place we wanted to go to was closed. Disappointment to the say the least. The quality has severely changed, and the plate I ordered I would not consider anywhere near a representation of Haitian food. If you want Haitian food or even a rendition of Caribbean food, se pa sa (this is not it). Also, if you don't ask for your 2nd side, you won't get one, even though it's listed on the menu that it comes with two. She rushed my father through that he was only given rice. The staff should ask what two sides the customer wants. Didn't eat past what's in picture cause it's so watered down and the meat is tough. Open usually till 11pm, I loved the fact that you see what you are getting and you can control the food portion size (which is usually huge, not large, huge) They have Haitian, Jamaican, soul food, and Caribbean all in one place. This review is based on an ubereats order which consisted of fried chicken, rice and beans, pikliz, Mac and cheese and mayi. Overall the food was very tasty. The fried chicken is not breaded so don't expect KFC style but it's still amazing. Fall off the bone good and good sized portions. The pikliz is almost a must anytime I can because I love that spicy vinegar kick which it adds to any meal. The Mac and cheese has Jalapeño but more so for the taste that heat. I knew it was there but at no point did I feel it was overpowering. And the mayi was also great. The best comparison I can provide it like butter cheesy grits. Decided to stop by Naomi's Garden on my most recent trip to Miami. Having never had Haitian food living in TX, I was very intrigued. I will say the location of the restaurant was a tad bit daunting, and I had to park on the street across from the restaurant and cross over (a little scary with the two lanes of traffic in a fairly busy area). I wish I had been able to eat-in since I've heard the ambiance is super unique, but wasn't able to. Even though I was picking up a to-go order, it took me almost 10 minutes to do so since their pickup process is very confusing and had to wait for a while until someone got to serving me. The food itself was good especially for the price, as I think I got a lot for what I paid for. The jerk chicken was flavorful but didn't taste too different that the standard Jamaican version: maybe they are the same but was excited to see how Haitian food differs. My favorite thing I ordered was the Sour Sop drink. OMG it was creamy and slightly tart and oh so refreshing on a hot late spring day. Would HIGHLY recommend! The heavy set lady who serves people at the walk up window on Saturday mornings is rude and selective on who she serves amd will have you wait until it's discriminatory. I asked her for things that came with my meal as per the paper that says what comes with your meal and she had me wait again then charged me for what was suppose to come with the meal already then gave me no explanation. Food was not hot enough and scares me to think of the food warmers are at proper heat level to be able to sustain food at the right temperature as per food regulations. I ordered from here as a recommendation from a friend and I can promise you I will NEVER order again. Not sure if this was because it was the end of the night before closing but I ordered an oxtail plate and many of the pieces of oxtail were under cooked. Color hue of the oxtail was also off however I thought maybe their browning process was a bit different, but that was not the case. 75% of the oxtails were not cooked after you ate past the first bite. I'm not one to take time to write reviews but as I have time going back and forth from bed to the toilet a day later as I suffer from food poisoning at the moment I figure I had the time to write this review and please ask that you guys are not pushing food out that's not prepared just because it's the end of the night or it's the bottom of the barrel. You're better off just making the item unavailable in the system or sold out for the day instead of sending poorly prepared food, it takes a few minutes to do in the system. And a little on the drier side. Jerk chicken is hit or miss. Depends on when you buy it. They like to serve old dried up, jerk chicken from the night before if you buy it in the morning. Found this place because of YouTube. Lived in Miami my whole life and never came across such a spectacular place that serves delicious authentic Haitian food. I got the oxtail with rice, baked Mac and pikliz. For my drink I ordered passion fruit juice. The oxtail was very tender and the food in general very flavorful. The sides whether it's rice and peas, legume, collard greens, or fried plantain; are all great choices. I honestly could've done a plate of just side dishes. And please do yourself a favor and order extra pikliz. I could buy Naomi's pikliz by the jar. Equal parts fresh, tangy and spicy. You'll need the extra side of them to eat with every bite. My favorite part of the visit to Naomi's was getting to chat with Noam, as seen on Netflix's Street Food: USA - Miami, whose family founded and runs Naomi's since the 70s. Most delicious and authentic curry goat in town. Had the fried goat today and wow it was tender falling off the bone. Also had the jerked jackfruit which is really special because they actually make it fresh. Most restaurants here take already processed and boil jackfruit cooked in tomato sauce, prepackaged and then basically throw it on a plate and call it a meal. Ridiculous.
