Hey I got a headlight bulb here for $15, and it's still working, can't complain! The store was pretty big and seemed to have a lot of different auto parts. I had no time to peruse the aisles as who has the time other than getting exactly what you need, right? I went straight up to the counter to ask for a headlight bulb for my car. The guy picked out the right one for me right way and he even offered to show me real quick how to access it. So it was very nice of him to come out with me to my car. We popped the hood and we pulled out the housing from the socket. He tried, he really tried, but I'm not sure if he's not fully awake, daydreaming or stoned or for whatever reason, he wasn't helpful at all. I think at one point I had to stop him from doing something and tell him to do otherwise just in case the light bulb breaks with poor installation! Luckily everything turned out OK, but I think I would've done it quicker on my own because it really wasn't that hard. But at the end, it's the thought that counts. He really tried and I'm thankful that he was nice to do that. Will I come back next time? Hm... I don't know. An old guy who doesn't know anything about cars and a giant fat guy grumpy as hell and unhelpful. I was the last boy customer in the store, asking for help at the counter to find apart that was already listed as in-stock on the Napa website. They simply pointed to an aisle and said it's somewhere over there. They both sat there staring at me looking for it for the next five or 10 minutes, in a store so quiet you could've heard a pin drop. Had zero interest in selling me what I came in to find. I was having many question regarding bolts n lug nut sizes, Mr Mark was a great help as well as very friendly. Service we so well that I went back for more trouble shoot problems. I needed two new batteries for my Toyota key fobs. I patiently waited while the guy behind the counter had a pleasant conversation with the only other customer in the store. After the customer left, there were two guys behind the counter and me. I asked for the battery, and the older gentleman didn't say a word to me, but just gave me a screwdriver to open the fob myself. Once I did that, and told him the number on the battery, he went and got it, offering no help to put it in. I also asked for AA batteries, and he sold me AAAs instead. When I went out to my car, the new key fob battery did not work, so I could not start my car. I had to go back inside and try another battery. There was no offer to help or exchange the defective battery for another one. I will never go back there again. They obviously cater to male customers, and could care less about a 70 year old female. read more

I purchased new Brake Rotors and Brake Pads from this NAPA branch and they worked well... until one of the brake pads failed and not only scored the rotor but completely dug metal out of it so that it was totally useless! It could not be turned. Looks like it was monkey hammered with a hammer and chisel! So a few weeks ago I went into this NAPA to see about purchasing new, higher quality Rotors, new Calipers and the very best Ceramic Brake Pads for my vehicle. The price was much higher than Amazon. So of course this is why Jeff B. is now the wealthiest man on earth and Amazon is eating NAPA's and everybody else's lunch! So I called NAPA this morning to see if I could drop off the old Rotors and have them throw them away. I also wanted them to see the LOUSY QUALITY of the Pad's and what happened to the right side rotor. Talked to Corey and even though I told him I'm 73 and just had open heart surgery.. he first suggested I put everything in the trash can and the EDCO trash truck would pick 'em up. However, Rotors are HEAVY! Also Calipers. I had my son put them into a box in the back of my truck. There's no way I can pick them up to put them into the trash. After telling Corey (or is it Cory?) anyway.. after telling him this and reminding him that I spent over $300 on parts (not including all the other stuff I've purchased from that store and OTHER NAPA's throughout the years - he finally offered to have me drive over and he and his guys would unload and throw them away. Great! But by now I was steaming at his initial attitude and intransigence and decided to HELL with it! I'm NOT going to beg so I told him I'd take care of it. In conclusion, NAPA doesn't need my business anymore. I'm tired of paying MORE for cheap quality and having it fail when I can buy higher quality from Amazon. My grandpa use to say: "Money talks and Bullshit walks." Yep. I'm taking my money elsewhere. read more

This store is crazy bad. I've been here twice, and both times it's been it's been horrible. God forbid you have a return, they treat you like a thief. I returned an unused, clean brake pads that I bought earlier that day. The guy behind the counter actually accused me of putting them on my car, driving around and then trying to return them. I had them for two hours, are you freaking kidding me. I'm going to rush home put on break pads, does some errands, then return them in two hours. Today I had a teaching moment with one of my kids. I work at San Marcos Middle School with community Wraparound as a mentor. At the end of school every day I, along with the assistant principals, walk off campus with the children to a corner market on Mission Road and Liberty dr. We'll Today I was by myself due to meetings that the A.P.s had to attend. I'm on my way back to the school to end my day when I see one of my brightest kids, low key troubled due to a rough up bringing and very intelligent. His E bike lose a wheel! I push up up on him and ask him what can I do. He tell me that he want to take it to Napa...we right on Mission next to Napa Auto Parts. So we grab the broke down bike and take it to Napa. He waiting for me to go in and be the adult...I tell him that this is his problem, so go in there and do your Thang. We go in and run into an employee, my young one ask the guy for help, the employee looked a little shook and another employee recognized that he needed to step in...he completely took over! Best customer service I have ever experienced. His name is Mike! Mike spent a good 30 minutes working on my kids bike. He came outside, looked at the bike and went to work...explaining everything that he's doing as he do it. I'm telling my young one that this is humanity , this is compassion , this is dignity, this is what allows you to be successful in life. Mike was amazing...and he didn't ask for a penny. He gave me and my young one a handshake and told us to have a nice day. Thanks Mike for being a perfect example at the perfect time in this young man's life. read more

One time I called to see what time they closed, and I arrived 45 mins before that time. So I've been here twice in the past 6 months (my poor beater truck is trying to die on me...NOT gonna let that happen). The first time I went, the only woman who was working there was VERY helpful. She looked stuff up for me, she gave me advice, and was very polite. BUT when I went to return an item that I didn't need, she accidentally CHARGED my account instead of REFUNDING me the money, which resulted in my bank account being in the negative, which resulted in me getting charged a fee by my bank. My bank suggested I talk to Napa and see if they would pay for the charges since it was their mistake. Now, I can admit that it was not Napa's fault that I did not have enough money in my account for them to charge me instead of refund me, BUT it was still their mistake. Anyway, Napa would not pay for the charges on my bank account :-( The second time I went in here, the staff was not as helpful as I would have hoped. I went in to get an air filter for my truck and the gentleman I dealt with had very little knowledge of what I was talking about. He also lacked a friendly/pleasant disposition, which I think is very important when working in customer service. If you're in a hurry and need a part quick, Napa will probably have the most expensive option readily available for you. But if you have time, I suggest going somewhere else. read more

I went here with my dad to get a part to fix my car. It was some kind of weird part that looked like it was from outer space. I figured there was no way anybody would have the part. NAPA was where my dad said will have it. When we walked in, the counter was busy, but we were helped pretty fast. My dad showed the clerk the part and he did not know what it was, so he called over a senior guy. He took one look at it and said I know just where that is. He disappeared for a few minutes and came back with the exact part. Amazing! read more

We bought a starter with a year warranty. It stopped working after 90 days so we went to return it. They said we needed receipt and we had to come back. Two days later, we came back with the receipt and we were told we needed the original box. We were lucky enough to find the receipt. No one keeps a box for 90 days. PLEASE do not support Napa!! I will be the first to rate this place and say these people, at least the one with tattoos and an awful attitude, would not help me with my automobile issue. His lack of concern, and unwillingness to accommodate my needs has driven me to take action on yelp. The store is relatively clean and I think it's in a great location. However, I needed help in finding the correct windshield wiper for my vehicle, some auto parts store clerks are helpful, such as O'Reilly Auto Parts, they are good, I will recommend them. O'Reilly Auto Parts clerks actually care about their customers, they will even come out and install the windshield blades and wipers and work for customer satisfaction. On the contrary, Napa Auto Parts Clerks will not; in addition, the store was not busy with customers, simply put the clerk did not want to help! Not communicative, not friendly, unapproachable! I do not recommend their business to any of my friends or family. read more

Just found out you can't dump used oil here. I've never heard of an auto parts store that doesn't help you recycle oil. One of the employees told me it was because they are to close to a school.....so I went to the napa on auto park way and guess what they don't dump oil either. So i guess its a corporate deal. Went in to pick up some belts, and fluids yesterday. Brian was very helpful. Today the auto mechanic called me letting me know that one belt was the wrong size. I went back to Napa and Julie waited on me, letting me know she would have to order the right belt size and it would be in tomorrow. It would cost me extra for my mechanic to do the work twice. I told her to order it but I was going to go to A.Z. to see if they had it as it would save me money. She agreed it was the right move and offered to refund me the cost of the wrong belt since I was already there. I asked for her contact info so I could let her know if I did secure the correct belt, and I did. She was very polite and understanding. Napa should look at this employee as Management material. I came here on 1/23/16 to buy a battery for my car. This turned out to be a huge hassle and cost me over $600 in repairs after they mistakenly sold me the wrong battery. It should have been a 7527F according to their sytstem, but they gave me the 7527. I took it home, hooked it up, and fried the electronics in my truck when connecting it, because the positive and negative terminals were reversed. I understand it should never have been connected, I should have notice the polarity, but the mistake was made. I called them up to explain what happened to the store manager. He said to bring in the receipts and they might help me out. So I went in and spoke to him... showed him receipts, etc. He said it was up to the owner of the store to reimburse me for anything. He made copies of my receipts, tow bill, etc. and said I should hear from them (or the owner)... I haven't heard anything and it's been weeks. I'm posting this so others will make sure they check the parts they get before walking out of the store. read more

I had a dead NAPA battery that was just under 4 years old. I brought it to the San Marcos store since it is closer to my house even though the battery was purchased from the Encinitas NAPA store by Harris Radiator (very honest mechanic) who installed the battery. I had my Harris Radiator receipt which identified the NAPA battery and the date purchased. The San Marcos NAPA store assistant manager, a short heavy set woman covered in tattoos and had spiked dark hair (so you know who to avoid) told me I had to return it to Harris Radiator. I thought she was kidding. Clearly it's a NAPA battery and identified as such on slip from Harris Radiator. She wasn't. I left and called the Encinitas NAPA store. They quickly pro-rated the warranty and I was on my way with a new battery. They were very surprised the San Marcos NAPA store turned me away. DON'T go to San Marcos NAPA unless you like poor customer service. Go to Encinitas NAPA. read more
