I'm not a huge dessert fan, but sometimes my sweet tooth craves other decadences besides ice cream. Napoleon's is the in-house bakery arm of the Zippy's restaurant chain. Some are run 24/7, but this location isn't. The menu is very extensive - cakes, pies, donuts, danishes, malasadas, andagi... DESSERTS: Napples - This is their most popular selection. Its a light and super flaky turnover with a sweet filling. My favorite is the apple Napple. The filling tastes similar to what you'd find in McD's apple pies, but on a more homemade scale. They also make other flavors like blueberry, cherry, coconut, and chocolate. Andagi - The popular Okinawan-style donut is about the size of a tennis ball. Homemade versions are usually smaller. The batter is slightly sweet and creamy tasting, and isn't topped with anything. It's supposed to come out with a slightly crisp crust and moist cake-like texture inside. Eat them hot if you can. Malasadas - Their version is actually pretty damn tasty! The Portuguese donut is shaped like an oval ball, dusted with white sugar, and has a chewy texture. Get it plain (my fave,) or filled with vanilla or chocolate pudding. Chantilly Cake - This is a Hawaii specialty. It's a chocolate cake with a unique beige-colored frosting that's not overly sweet and has a hint of saltiness. Reeeeally good! Haupia Chocolate Cake - My dad loved this to the end. Chocolate and coconut combined to make a little Hawaiian baby. Strawberry Gelatin Cream Cheese Square - Its a graham cracker crust with a slightly heavy cream cheese middle topped with a thin layer of strawberry Jello. It looks pretty and tastes even prettier. TIP: If you're eating in Zippy's, order the bakery items directly from the bakery counter which is slightly cheaper than the restaurant menu. OVERALL: Great selection, fresh, good pricing.

Napoleon's Bakery is located inside Zippy's restaurant. They sell ensaymadas (sweet buttery bread), turnovers (apple, blueberry, etc.) and malasadas (fried Portuguese donuts). Their malasadas are cooked fresh to order. After 10 minutes of waiting, our small box of malasadas are ready to take with us to the Kahului airport (OGG). This is the perfect snack after eating a meal at Zippy's. These pockets of yumminess can either be filled or unfilled. We chose cinnamon sugar, custard, and haupia (coconut pudding). Mmmm...messy but delicious!

We came here for the malasadas. The coconut filling is good. The chocolate filling is just putting, not so good.

The Legendary Malasadas A true Portuguese-Hawaiian style…read moremalasada is a work of art, and Sugar Beach nails it. Unlike standard donuts, theirs are fried to a perfect golden crisp on the outside while staying unbelievably fluffy, light, and pillowy on the inside. The Passion Fruit (Lilikoi) Magic: Tasting that tart, bright, tropical lilikoi burst against the sugary, warm dough is unforgettable. It cuts right through the richness of the pastry perfectly. Freshness First: Because they open bright and early at 6:00 AM, getting them warm means you are catching them at peak texture--crisp, airy, and meltingly soft. Mouth-Watering Savories & Pies It's rare for a bakery to completely master both ends of the spectrum, but they strike an incredible balance between decadent sweetness and rich, savory comfort: The Quiche: Getting a morning slice with a perfectly flaky, buttery crust and a rich, velvety egg custard is the ultimate savory breakfast comfort. The Key Lime Pie: A masterclass in balance. The sharp, refreshing pucker of the lime curd pairs flawlessly with a thick, buttery graham cracker crust, making it the ultimate mid-day or post-beach treat. The Croissants: True to artisan form--shattered layers on the outside, a rich, tender, airy web of butter on the inside. The Ultimate Beachside Vibe What truly seals the memory is the pure sense of place. It's a quintessential "cute little bakery"--unassuming, warm, and hyper-focused on quality. Being located right across from the beach means your morning walk isn't just an errand; it's an experience. Holding a warm box of malasadas and a fresh coffee while looking out at the ocean is pretty much peak relaxation. Just remember the golden rule of the neighborhood to avoid heartbreak: they take Sundays off, making Monday mornings all the sweeter when those doors swing open at 6:00 AM again! Service was awesome . Staff was very attentive

The Ube wasn't bad pretty good though I'm biased toward anything Ube (looove Ube) Lines weren't too long though it was on a weekday. However, earlier the better. Definitely would be a place to recommend

It's been a long while since I came to Wailuku Coffee Company. Market Street is always busy and…read moreparking is not really available on the street unless you use the Parking Structure (which is a close walk) but I get lazy at times and want to park close by. Since it was Sunday, I decided today was the day. I'm not a big coffee connoisseur because of a health condition I have and caffeine can affect me but I do love coffee (even if it doesn't love me) but I'll usually go with a Tea option or Smoothie. I decided on a simple smoothie so I got the Keiki Smoothie with Banana, Strawberry and Apple Juice. I asked the waitress what sandwich is the most popular and she said the Turkey Pesto Melt and boy did that hit! It really was the BEST sandwich. It was on a crispy, flaky...and might I add...buttery croissant with thick slices of turkey, tomato, creamy pesto aioli and melted provolone! It came with some chips and dill pickle on the side. The only downside was the price-it was about $17 so I'm sure I'll treat myself once in a good while to this. My small smoothie was $8 but refreshing nonetheless. I love the vibes inside with hanging plants and art work throughout. There was someone doing remote work or school in the corner with her sleepy golden retriever next to her, a few locals outside and some visitors inside. The workers are friendly and I saw one clean the outside tables right away after a few parties left. A nice spot to hit up for some nice breakfast, lunch and a coffee with a friend.

I ordered the white mocha latte with Mac nut milk and a cold brew. The latte was mild and not really strong, but also not overly sweet. It was a nice balanced.

So, We picked up food to take out for a picnic ahead of our drive to Hāna. The line was very long and was disrupting traffic flow in the parking lot. The food was very good. The chicken noodle platters were hearty and delicious. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. This place is a must try if you are in Maui. Just plan and order ahead. This place is by the airport in a shopping center, not near the beach area!

I really wanted to love this place because I loved Sheldon on Top Chef…read more but...unfortunately...everything I tried was terrible. I tried teh Kau Kau Tin with pork belly and garlic noodles, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and a small mac salad. Generally, the Kau Kau Tin and the mac salad were utterly bland. The mac salad tasted of nothing. The garlic noodles in the Kau Kau tin also lacked flavor. The garlic noodle had the slightest of garlic taste. The pork belly was perfectly cooked and was the best part of the Kau Kau tin and I made sure to make each every piece of that. The Spicy Chicken sandwich was the most disappointing item I tried. The chicken patty was just a VERY FATTY piece of fried chicken. It was terrible. The texture shock alone from biting through crispy crust to gelatinous fat was shocking. But then, the chicken was not seasoned. It was a textural monstrosity that had no flavor. All in all, I'm glad I tried it. I will definitely try it again when back on the island in hopes that this was just a bad day.
