Tropical is located at the corner of a nondescript intersection and serves as a great way to get some dessert after your savory food. The venue is efficiently laid out, and you can tell that it gives off old school Maui vibes. Friendly owners who were really focused on making their customers happy and providing great recommendations on their ice cream. Note that they also offer unique chocolate options in a separate section.

Tropical Ice Cream and Cafe is such a cute, affordable, and fun spot! I loved my Chocolate Paniolo Ride single scoop in a cup! The chocolate ice cream was unbelievably creamy, rich, and full of flavor. The owner was also incredibly helpful and immediately recommended it when I mentioned I was a chocolate lover. So apparently this place opened up 10 days ago and I'm floored by how nice everyone is. I could only get one man's name, LEONE, as he was so nice and gave generous scoops so thank you Leone you were very funny. I think they specialize in ice creams with some gelato/sorbet flavors like lilikoi, guava, coconut pineapple etc. There are also flavors like macadamia and coffee. Had the Kona Mud Pie and an ube ice cream and both were fabulous. I would definitely recommend this place to others because it had a cute interior and a nice outdoor area with tiki torches and seating next to the main road. It is next to paia fish market in the kalama village

Excellent ice cream and friendly service! Lots of uniquely Hawaiian flavors - Kona Mud Pie and Chocolate Paniolo Ride are my favorites, but you can't go wrong with any of them! They also have delicious-looking baked goods as well as ice cream sandwiches and choco tacos, so I'll definitely be back to try those. They even gave us a free sample of tea while we enjoyed our ice cream. Overall wonderful experience every time we visit, highly recommend!

We stopped by Tropical Ice Cream Café in Kihei Kalama Village while visiting Maui to celebrate our daughter Jade's upcoming 8th birthday--and we're so glad we did! The staff, especially Michael, were incredibly warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The ice cream was absolutely to die for--so many amazing tropical flavors to choose from. What really made it special was how kind they were to our daughter. They even surprised her with a free mango chocolate treat to celebrate her birthday! It made our visit feel extra memorable and personal. Great people, amazing ice cream, and a fun atmosphere. If you're ever in Kihei, do yourself a favor and swing by this place. You won't regret it!

Husband and I ended up coming here at least two times our 4-day trip to Maui so they clearly had some good ice cream! A really large array of flavors and it's hard to pick pictures a couple to have, haha. They also have some really fun special local flavors that you wouldn't find anywhere else outside of Hawaii, so I highly recommend trying these! We ended up getting a caramel one that was really delicious! Also try the vanilla with macadamia nuts! Yummy! read more

Top notch ice cream. The couple/owners are super sweet and friendly. I got four samples before choosing my two scoops. There were a few others worthwhile treating. Banana Mac nut . Unbelievable amazing. A nice surprise from caramel. Ahola cherry truffle. Fantastic. Premium homemade ice cream , is of course high end cost. Totally worth it. Best ice cream on the island ? Unsure , I didn't try the other homemade one towards Lahaina . Definitely visit if you are around. Oh, and they are open super late ! 10:30pm , which is perfect since the shaved ice ones close by 6:30pm. Love dessert at night !!! read more

Food: the ice cream was great! We had chocolate, cookies and cream, and cappuccino. Two of us had waffle cones and they were delicious. Everything tasted very fresh. Service: I don't know if we walked in near closing time, but I felt like our family was intruding a bit. Nevertheless, we sat inside and ate our ice cream so it didn't melt outside. Ambience: it's a really cute place. There are a handful of seats inside (stools up against a ledge by the window). It's not a spot where you're going to stay a while due to the limited space inside, unless you had a hot beverage and wanted to stay outside. There is ample parking behind the stores with a brief walk. read more

This place is a gem on the corner among the shop. The ice cream is amazing and there are many different treats to try like handmade ice cream sandwhiches and tacos. They have banana splits, ice cream Sundays, and root beer floats. Prices are respectable for the area and for what you get. The owners are super nice and helpful also. Has a little indoor sitting area with bar stool watching out the window or enjoy the weather outside. By far one of the best places on Maui. read more

We walked down to a shave ice place, but then turned around to Tropical Ice Cream, Kihei. Leaving the other place behind turned out to be a fantastic decision. Wonderful! The wife and all were happy. This is the BEST ice cream shop in Maui. Besides an amazing selection of great ice cream flavors and sorbets, there are great backed goods and amazing treats. But the best part is the service. The shop is owned by a wonderful husband a wife who greet you with kindness, smiles, and who make sure every customer is happy. Right down to offering you a wet napkin when you are done to wipe away the delicious ice cream on your face. read more

First the service. "Bul" is the gentleman that helped us, I believe he and his wife are the owners. Both are very nice and accommodating. You can sample any flavor of ice cream they carry. The ice cream they use is made here in Maui. We used to drive to Lapperts, but no more! The servings are generous, and I will tell you that this is the best ice cream I have ever had. 5 stars! Best ice cream I've had on the island. My go to is the coconut pineapple, but they let you sample everything and I've yet to have a flavor that wasn't delicious. The kids love the strawberry and the mango sorbet. The Mac crunch and banana Mac crunch are top sellers. read more

My wife and I came across Tropical Ice Cream & Cafe and really enjoyed it. Ugur and the staff were super friendly and made us feel right at home. The ice cream was excellent -- we both had the Kona Mud Pie and the Banana Mac Nut and loved them. Great spot with plenty of seating, and they even serve coffee. We'll definitely be back. read more

But nah, good timing. People were finishing up, bussing tables, and bam, maybe 20-30 minutes tops. Not bad at all. While we was waiting, they come out with waffle samples for everyone in line. I mean... who does that? That's how you keep people from getting all hangry. Instant good vibes, the whole line outside was just smiling and waiting patiently. Finally get seated and both the hostess and waitress were super nice--real friendly, no rush, no attitude. In the front they had mushroom soup on the specials board, so we figured we go sample um. I had them bring a cup of soup out to start along with my wife's coffee. Gotta be honest--when I dipped my spoon in, I was already judging. Looked kinda thin, not creamy like other mushroom soups I've had. I was thinking, "Ahh here we go." Took one spoonful and immediately had to humble myself. That soup was money. Like, stop-talking-and-just-eat. My wife tried it and confirmed that this soup was "winnahs" . Deep mushroom flavor with the right amount of seasoning. It also came with a little piece of focaccia toast which I would have really enjoyed but had to take my wife's word for it since she ate um all . Should've ordered the bowl. Rookie mistake. For my main, I went with the original eggs Benedict. Portions were a little on the small side, but with the roasted potatoes, I was good. Didn't leave hungry, didn't need to loosen the belt--perfect middle ground. My wife got the strawberry waffles and yeah... those were legit. She's not a syrup person, so she asked for more whipped cream. The waitress comes back with a little mountain of whipped cream in the little silver ramekin. All in all, solid spot. Friendly people, ono food, and little touches that make you feel taken care of. We will be heading to Cafe Kaila again to try some other stuff like the "chicken and waffles", and next time, I'm not playing around with the soup. Bowl, Garans.

The Caesar Salad is about as good as they get, but I really, really like the Maui Greek Salad. With at least four people we start with the Seafood Tower, but find it just too big for two of us. Other than that the Kalua Pig Pot Stickers, Charred Octopus, Crab Cakes and Blackened Ahi are the starters I rotate through. For my Main, I am less eclectic. I have a hard time getting away from the Diver Scallops and Scampi. I have tried other dishes, the Abalone, Kona Lobster and Ribeye (I know, I know, who orders steak in a seafood restaurant), but I keep coming back to. For Dessert, I am also in a rut, but I love desserts they set on fire and in this case it is Bananas Foster. I do sneak bites off my DW's Creme Brulee, as does off my BF. The service is terrific, attentive without being intrusive. I used to joke about the Chicago store that if you knocked a spoon off the table someone would catch it before it hit the floor. The Maui service isn't quite that attentive and I am not sure I would want it to be.
