People in houston hype up restaurants like they are the best ever and it simply isn't true. I've lived in several places including New York so I know good food. The food was very bland. I see four stars I am expecting an explosion of flavor and it that doesn't happen. I ordered at lunch time and was told I had to pay dinner prices. Mind you my husband picked the order up. So it wasn't even deliver which they charge another $5 through door dash for. I've driven by this place and they have a lunch special sign on the damn door. So being over charged just pissed me off. Now I actually get the food and the portion is terrible. Lots of vegetables and no meat. Then the flavor isn't so good. Ehh. I'm done with takeout in houston. I read some reviews, before I decided to order food from here, that the service was really slow and I would have to completely agree. Ordered food to go and got there 40 mins later and it took almost 5 minutes before someone came up to ask me my order name, and then proceeded to serve everyone else and take another 5 minutes to bring me my food. I ordered the crab angels and the fried spring rolls and both were extra delicious. Also ordered crab fried rice and shrimp pad thai and they were just okay. The fried rice was too soft and not very flavorful. The interior design of the resteraunt was cute though. read more

The prices are fairly reasonable compared to other Thai restaurants in Houston and that's one of the reasons I give them 3.5 stars. I've had a few different dishes here, including the tom yum soup (chicken), pad kra pow (beef), and tofu-eggplant basil. Food is about average as I really didn't taste a wow factor in any dish. The beef in the pad kra pow was too chewy. The other dishes were good though. Service is usually attentive and the interior is surprisingly nice for such a run down shopping center. If you're in the area and desparate, come here, otherwise drive a little further for other Thai. I prefer their express location in midtown read more

What a great little place! Went in for lunch and unfortunately there were not many people but there should be! Had the sitar chicken appetizer and the peanut sauce was really good. I got the Panang curry with shrimp medium spice. It was amazing not blow your head off spicy but just right and great flavors behind it. Next time I will probably go for chicken instead of shrimp but that is a personal preference thing I think. We also had chicken pad Thai which was also outstanding. Disappointed. Looking at their menu it sounds good. Food comes out fast. Food is served hot, but fried foods quickly cool and are not as good. Went for lunch so prices are good and portion size typical. Weird thing was our server would place plates and drinks at the opposite side of our table, so we had to get up to reach it. It seemed like she did not want to be a waitress. My hot tea never got refilled although it sat with the lid open for 10 minutes and she never noticed nor came by. We even tried waving at her and she made eye contact but then looked away. We got the appetizer combo that seemed good but you only get 2 fried spring rolls, 2 dumplings, 2 crab angels, the majority was fried veggies and a few rubbery fried calamari rings. The veggies got cold quick and tasted like wet dough. Our lunch came with a fried spring roll and lemongrass soup. I really wanted to try the coconut soup but she said I couldn't substitute even for an upcharge. She said they already have it done in the back. The lemongrass soup was oily, and I got 1 small chunk of chicken, 1 mushroom slice, and 1 diced tomato. The rest was broth. At all other thai places the soups are filled with meat and veggies. The entree came with a scoop of white rice. She never asked what spice level we wanted. I had to request more spice for mine as it was really mild. My husband ordered the combo beef chicken thai cashew. His was mostly veggies that still tasted raw. If they were sautéed it wasn't long enough. Again, not much meat and mild spice. The cashews were limited and no cashew flavor in the dish. Overall, not impressed and doubt we will return. read more

Nara Thai is a well decorated Thai place up north near Spring. Service was interesting. It was slow, only another party there besides mine so the waitress was on her phone the whole time. I would have to wave at her for anything which was a little annoying. Food was average. Enjoyed the crab puffs- probably the better ones in Houston. The red curry seafood special ($18) had a lot of seafood but the flavor was lacking big time. Just felt like there was too much coconut milk. Had to add a lot of spice to get any taste. Also come with 1 egg roll and 1 soup. The soup is actually pretty good. And the portion for the noodle dishes are huge!!!! I ate half and Togo half. Taste: Pad thai: 3.5 stars. Red Curry - Roasted Duck - Thai Spicy - 4.75/5 : This was a show stealer. Good flavour of the coconut milk and pineapples in the curry was a good addition. Only negative part was the duck meat not roasted enough for the curry. Thai Spicy is only for people who can handle heavy spicy level, just a heads up about the spice level. The place is a bit dated and seems like it is past its prime of former glory. I get the since this place may have been something special when it first open but has had zero updates in 15 years. I will admit this is only the 5th Thai restaurant i have ever been too. Each time i've had Thai i dont usually like anything besides Pad Woon Sen (spicy stir fried glass/clear noodles). The menu was disappointing because it only offered the flat rice noodles (which reminds me of tape worms), and egg noodles (which is 12c ramen). So i just tried a few familiar items. The wanton soup here is very garlicy and the wontons are thick and gummy. Its a very small bowl of just broth, tofu, wontons, & bean sprouts. The lettuce wraps had a bad smell, like fish sauce. It grossed me out. They were very very spicy, which i dont mind. (Even though i Ordered medium). The fresh spring rolls tasted "earthy" because the filling is 80% bean sprouts, so that's all you taste. Bland. No salt, pepper, soy, sriracha on the tables. Im not one to send food back, but i kind of wanted to. But i was with a friend and didn't want to cause embarrassment. So i just took a bite of each thing & wasted my money. I'm really glad that a decent thai place is near my new clinical site this semester. The inside is spacious. When I went, there were maybe three guests (I came around 3 o'clock so I missed the big lunch rush probably), and ordered a level 5 spicy pad thai. It was great. Consistency of noodles were good. Flavor was great. Can't really go wrong. The spicy level is authentic and not for weenies, which I was grateful for. What really blew me away was how fast my order came out. Given I'm staying on the outskirts of Houston for work I was pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant on a whim; being sick of BBQ and Mexican. Their Thai ice tea was a bit sweet but otherwise authentic. Ordered their sea food dot com (hot plate) and could appreciate the spice of their yellow curry. The appetizers we got were super good! We ate them so fast I forgot to snap some pictures, but I highly recommend the chicken wings and curry chicken puffs. The pineapple fried rice was super good, but the pineapple pieces didn't taste like anything. Tiger teardrop salad was also very flavorful with its crunchy topping and lime sauce. My family and I have been going to Anothai cuisine for years . We were super excited to find its sister location closer to home . Nara Thai . Let me begin by saying the menu is the same , which is great to know that you can still enjoy all of your favorite dishes . Why 2 stars .. The service is beyond TERRIBLE!!! It's been 20 minutes since we sat down and out drinks have not been brought out . ( there's only 3 tables including ours ) I don't know if they are understaffed or what but their lack of customer service is something the owners should look into . Gotta admit this quickly turned in to one of my favorite places, I mean I went there once and I was hooked. Their pad Thai is absolutely phenomenal especially with the roasted duck. The veggies are well cooked and flavors combine well, I highly recommend adding the hot sauce and peanuts to your meal that they include on the side for maximum flavor. Their dessert is also very good good even though it seems sort of simple, I got a combo of custard and mango with some rice and I chilled it a bit for a perfect combo of flavors. We chose a booth by the window and were handed menus immediately. The waitress was very nice and fast.
