First time I got a wrap from here it was fantastic! Second time I tried to order the same thing and they insisted I couldn't get it without cheese (even though I had it without cheese the first time). When I explained I was lactose intolerant, the guy told me there was nothing he could do because it "comes with cheese" and started talking to the next customer. He wasn't rude to me - just seemed like he didn't care or didn't know what he was doing. Was a really bizarre experience. Recently, I planned a lunch for about 50 people. A friend suggested Nardelli's in Danbury. I decided to stop in, and was glad to see how clean everything was, and how appealing the food in the cases looked. We ordered through Seemless and had it delivered from the Danbury location. We got it when it was promised. The buffalo chicken was really good. I removed all the extras from mine to basically get the chicken and cheese. Next time I would get it on a cheese bread instead of the regular. Because it was delivered, it wasn't as hot as I would like. I popped it in the toaster for 2 minutes and problem solved. I have not had that issue when I'm in the store. The positive of delivery is that you don't have to leave your house, the negative is the food is never as warm as you would like. I will probably still order home delivery again. read more

Good, but nowhere near as good as it used to be. When I first discovered Nardelli's Grinder Shoppe while living in New York City, I was in love. Anytime we would be traveling through Connecticut I would make a point of going out of my way in order to stop at a Nardelli's location. After moving out of the area, I was back for the first time in several years, and I couldn't wait. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The staff seemed a bit disinterested in helping customers, and weren't on point the way I had always experienced in the past. We had to repeat details of our order a couple of times before they got to work on our food. As I had almost always done, I got the BBQ Rib Grinder. This time it was just OK, whereas in the past it made my day and made me want to return as soon as possible. Not as much flavor, and they forgot the hot sauce. I also got a macaroni salad, and it was just OK. Unfortunately, based on this experience I clearly don't need to go out of my way to find a Nardelli's when I'm in the area, and will likely just opt to find something new in the area next time instead. read more

I have been going to this location for several years. It's more expensive then subway but generally the food is better quality. So this is my lunchtime review of my recent takeout order. I ordered it online and showed up about 40 minutes later to pick it up. I ordered a half chicken cutlet grinder and half Italian grinder. I also ordered potato salad. Service - this is the weakest grade they revived from me. This is reflective of numerous orders. It seems to me if you allow online ordering you would not subject your customers who order online to wait in the general line and receive their food colder or/and later then they should. Right? Not here, they make you wait and then have an attitude as if your bothering them to pick your food up. So they get 1 Star here for service. I don't appreciate rude service, don't roll your eyes at customers.. seriously. Chicken cutlet grinder: This was the best I have had in the surrounding area. Food was fresh, properly cooked, however it was colder then it should have due to my extended wait. 4 out of 5 Italian grinder: This was also the best I have had in the surrounding area. Food was fresh, properly prepared. 5 out of 5 Potato salad: This was above average for the area. Tasted ok but was not seasoned as well as I would have preferred. 3 out of 5 So the food is really good. If you can handle a poor queue process and at times rude staff it's worth the cost and wait. One of my oldest "visiting up North" tricks is to hit delis like this to stock up on food for the room. Even if you don't have a mini-fridge or a microwave (fortunately, my hotel around the corner had both), sandwiches from these places usually travel well and keep well...and they beat the hell out of delivery (especially if you don't want food from a national chain and don't wanna take a gamble on an unknown local). Holy moly! Their customer service is amazing and if you're vegan you'll finally find a sandwich shop that gives you the real grinder experience. The sandwich it was amazing!! So glad I got the large. They have vegan mayo and cheese too if you ask and give you an abundance of vegan Italian lunch meats like vegan carpaccio and vegan prosciutto. I know hard to believe but the sandwich was huge. A very good sandwich but NOT as good as other locations I've been to. Waterbury is my favorite but closest to home is Cromwell which I also liked better. I got a whole roast beef with the works plus mayo and roasted peppers. The roast beef was sliced thicker and less was put on the sandwich. also the slices were neatly layered versus just bunched in. Still, the bread was fresh and the toppings very good but could have used more of their special salad spread. The facility was clean and set up just like Cromwell. The display cases are picture perfect - so much so the food looks fake (but isn't!!). Nice that we were traveling to NY and hungry and there was a Nardelli's nearby though. This is one of the Nardelli's I frequent. I am predictable in that I almost always get a chicken salad sub with American cheese lettuce tomato and little bit of onions cut into three. So without question they have some of the best chicken salad period. Today I tried the chicken cutlet with BBQ sauce cheddar cheese and bacon.
