This place is overhyped for sure. We got there for early dinner and got a small table in between the people. Looks like place get very crowded so tables are very next to each other. Our host came with the menu and kinda rush to order too. We try to order a few things but our host kinda insist actually asked us what to order which was very funny. Since he was loud I just said ok sure just bring it plz. The traditional rice came with the lamb which was ok but kabobs had no taste, no spice or texture to enjoy. Their bread was good so we enjoyed the bread. Service could be better but looks like people are used to of their behavior and style but as a tourist, it was annoying for me. We went to Nargis for years when it was just a tiny restaurant on Coney Island Ave. Way before they expanded. Sad to see they closed but happy to see they moved to Sheepsheadbay Road. Took out some food..avocado salad, potatoes and mushrooms and squash manti. Food was still good but portion size was half what it used to be and prices went up. Maybe that's because of take out.?? Something to be said about Uzbek food. Frankly, This part of Brooklyn is peppered with such spots. This one is quite good. The "Tashkent" sale was rally good (if you like cow tongue a must try). The chuchvara (lamb filled dumplings) were excellent but the one thing that we found amazing were the liver kebabs - true perfection; soft, delicious and just perfect! The service was ok, although if you understand Russian, the waitresses comments about the patrons were hilarious, would have loved to have heard what she said about us when we left. My friend was refused to be served because she came with her service dog after they confirmed via the phone that she can come with her service animal We came to establishment and we waited by the door for 20 min until they resolved if we can walk in and eat , right prior we placed an ordered the manager showed up and told us that dog can't be here because someone else complained . Besides that illegally she asked me for paperwork which was presented to her she also asked me to leave saying that my dog not trained to seat in one place , while my service dog was under the table next to me eating By federal law it's is prohibited to refuse person with disabilities (ADA law ) and illegal to ask for paperwork My friend's human rights were violated read more

We sat down by the window, the waiter asked what we like to drink and we said water is fine. Few minutes later the waiter came back to take our order and finally he asked AGAIN if we want something to drink besides water. He kept on push people to order something to drink and finally I ordered a pot of tea. We really doesn't feel like we want to order any beverage besides water. Anyway, the food took forever to serve. They served the next table faster then our table. Both of us ordered kebab and same thing with next table to us. They came 30 minutes later than us and they served their table earlier than our table meanwhile we ordered 30 minutes ahead of them and we didn't even get our food yet. Complaint to our waiter, he did't even apology or said anything besides "ok". I meant seriously, he should at least apology for the delay. That's not all. On top of poor service fee, they charge service fee on top of our bill. That's not included gratuity. Why am I paying a poor service for a service fee????? And I still have to pay gratuity?????? From the host to the waiter, all of them provide no service to poor service. On the way out of their restaurant, the host kept on talking to her other host, and completely ignored us. The food is ok, nothing special about them. The round bread is hard to chew. The sautéed dumpling is microwaved and laid on top a pool of oil. My husband and I came here on a Saturday night without reservations and were seated quickly. They provided a regular menu as well as the visual menu on the iPad (I guess for us newbies). We ordered the chuchvara, manti with meat, Plov, skewers, avocado salad, fried dumplings with caramelized onions and naan. (We figure what ever we don't eat will be left overs tomorrow; and there was plenty left over!) Everything was delicious! I am so grateful that my first experience with Uzbek food in NYC is here. I've had a few people recommend me this cuisine so I went on Google to find something good. Yelp verified that Nargis Cafe is the best decision. I've ordered here twice-- first on their website which was easy to navigate and the second time for their outdoor dining. Really nice outdoor dining. My favorite to order here is the veal liver kebab, haha! When I first tried Nargis, I ordered plov, pan friend manti with meat, shurpa, cheburek, and grilled whole branzino for the better half. Everything was delicious and although the veal liver kebab was my favorite, the broth of the shurpa with the lamb was so delicious. During the outdoor dining, we ordered veal liver kebab, lamb ribs kebab, tashkent, and nargis. Tashkent was definitely one of the best salads I've ever tried. We also had some margaritas and kompot. I've been told if you come here on a weekend, expect to wait at least an hour. My boyfriend and I showed up on a quiet weekday afternoon and were seated immediately. We asked for just a 1/2 order of the delicious bread they serve because we knew we would be tempted to eat it all and thus, be too full for the rest of our meal. We shared: Fruit Compote (a homemade fruit juice)-I'm not a fan of sweetened drinks but this is too good to resister...fruity and not overbearingly sweet. Shepherd Salad (similar to Greek salad)-cucumber and tomato salad topped with grated (not crumbled) feta...out of this world. 3 Kebabs (chicken, beef, and veal)-all delicious but the veal one was my favorite. All seasoned just right. Home fries (with mushrooms and onions)-seriously addicting. It will make a mushroom lover out of anyone. The service is spot on. The second you clear your dish, they take away your plate. With the check, they give you gum instead of mint The best part? It's super affordable. Even towards 3:00 pm on a weekday, this large restaurant in Gravesend had a steady stream of diners. My first time with Uzbek cuisine. I heard no English around me save for my waitress, who was friendly and helpful with the menu. It was rainy cold outside and a variety of soups beckoned. I chose the Shurpa which arrived steaming and chock full of celery, carrots, potato, red pepper, and chick peas in a garlic rich light broth reminiscent of a minestrone but definitelty more exotic with large tender pieces of lamb on the bone. Even with takeout, the meal was stellar. A roasted branzino redolent of smoke and char, perfectly succulent and fresh. The accompanying rice had just the right whiff of saffron. We had an order of fries which looked like they threw the last bits of the bag on our plate (the longest French fry was no longer than an inch and a half). We ordered the chiburek, samsas, and kebab platter.  The chiburek (kind of like a ground beef empanada) had really nice flavor, but the beef was a bit tough. The samsas were really nice and flaky, both styles were really good! I personally enjoyed the pumpkin more, the hint of sweetness really elevated it a bit more than the meat one. The sauce it came with was fantastic. The kebab platter came with chicken, pork, beef, lamb, and a ground beef patty. We also ordered shrimp kebab on the side. The chicken was super juicy and nicely charred, definitely one of the best ones. The pork was also very good, nice and juicy. The beef was pretty tender, which usually doesn't happen! The ground beef was pretty good, not dry and very flavorful, reminds me of my grandmas homemade meat patties. The lamb was really good, not gamey at all, super tender. The shrimp had a really nice snap to it and was cooked really well. The platter came with red sauce which was a bit weird, the meats all tasted a lot better with the white sauce that came with the samsas.  Overall, this place was really good. Amazing spot by Brighton beach area to get authentic Central Asian food. It's a super cute and cozy restaurant with really delicious food. My favorites are the lamb plov and the mixed grilled meat skewers. The lamb plov is a rice and lamb platter with Central Asian herbs and spices, which was divine. The lamb was super soft, juicy and flavorful and the rice and spices were just perfect for my palate. The mixed meats, I had to order separately, as there wasn't a mixed meat plate, so I ordered a bunch or different things, such as the beef ribs, lamb skewers and chicken skewers. They also serve this delicious Central Asian bread with butter, or you can also ask for their yogurt sauce to dip it in. It is definitely a fun experience to go to with a group of friends. read more

We loved this place! I can't explain how flavorful plov is. I came here for a friend's birthday and it was a great pick. We had a double date so the interior design was definitely something that made the restaurant a bit elegant. Despite it being packed the seating was perfect. We ordered a ton of food. I tend to always get the kebabs and avocado salad but they have an extensive menu. The kebabs are always fresh and perfectly grilled. Whenever we came to this part of Brooklyn, Nargis was always a destination. It's Coney Island Avenue location was pleasing to be in with the rugs and decorations all over the place. The kitchen was visible from the dining room and the food was fantastic. We were dissapointed when it closed, but anticipated it's reopening on Sheepshead Bay Road. It's opening was long delayed and we were excited to try it when it finally opened. We went to the current location and the food was fine although the portions were a bit skimpy. The service was excellent and the place has a classy interior, reminiscent of a fine dining establishment. However, in my opinion, the new Nargis is a shell of it's former self. While the place is classy, it lacks charm. The food pales in comparison to what it was before and it is much more expensive. Before, Nargis was a destination, now it is a mediocre place that I may or may not come back to. read more

The food is great. However, the service is unprofessional. I visited for the first time on 06/09/2021 around around 5:00pm. The host was very friendly but a blond waitress was really rude and stubborn because I asked her wether I could take a picture of some art work and decoration in the restaurant to post on social media and I explicitly told her that I wouldn't take of guests but she said that her boss doesn't not allow taking pictures at all. I said sure, Can I talk to your manager? She also said that she is not going to tell her name. manager without name! Ok I did not know a manager introduce her/himself like that I guess in some places they do. Lol I was also surprised how she made a decision on behalf of everyone even on behalf on me!
