I've only ever had takeout of the sushi and rice but it's always been delicious. Staff has always been friendly and attentive during pickup so I would hope that carries over to diners eating their as well. read more

This was my second visit here. The first time was great, which was the reason for the second visit. We were just in for a quick bite, some appetizers and sushi. The menu is very extensive and reasonably priced. First we ordered some type of dumpling, and we were not impressed. We were not even sure of exactly what we got. We also ordered the crispy shrimp, and it was delicious, although not extremely crispy. My daughter ordered a soup, and it wasn't quite what she expected, very bland. She also ordered blue crab rolls, and again they were not exactly what she expected, but they looked good. Unfortunately, they were very mushy, and the flavors did not meld well. I ordered a Saketini, which I had on the first visit and loved. Either the vodka was off or the sake, but it was undrinkable. The very efficient waitress replaced it with a different better drink, so all was good there. I had just wished the food was better. Yes, it is true that it is a little dated, but it still looks modern and sleek. And yes, there was a vending machine outside, but it was funny. There are a few other places I would like to try before I even think of giving it another chance. read more

Today was our first time here. we stopped in for lunch and I am really happy that we did. The server was so friendly and nice. The food was amazing. I had steak and scallops. My steak was a perfect medium. The portion was so big and even included a salad and soup. The sushi I got for an appetizer was very fresh. I even ordered another entree to take home to my wife. I'm probably spoiled because I live in LA....I ordered the seafood Udon and sent it back because it arrived at my table Luke warm,30 min to get it too.The shrimp and scallops were rubbery, not a lot of taste.Also this place has top end prices! The only good part of our experience here was when we left. Bad wait staff. Not a soul greeted us at the door. While I completely get that trying to find good sushi in Plainfield Indiana is about as likely as finding gold in my cats litter box.. This place STILL managed to dissapoint. Not one thing we had out of the 70+ dollars we spent was anything beyond grocery store quality sushi. I genuinely hope this place is re-purposed as a toilet store. read more

My wife and I eat there at least once per month. Tonight we saw significant improvements. We were greeted at the door and seated immediately around 6 PM. The booth was private with high walls. We had a Touchdown sushi role followed by hibachi dinners of scallops, rib eye steak and calimari steak which came with soup & salad. The ginger/garlic salad dressing was fantastic. I decided to give this place a try since I bought a Groupon certificate and it seemed like a good deal. At first we didn't see it until we drove right up to it and saw the tattered sign that hung on the front of the building. There was no other sign for the restaurant. The place was almost empty, but then again it was about 2pm on a Wednesday. We entered and the lobby seemed deserted - no one there to greet guests. We walked down a hallway into the dining area and still no one to greet us. So we decided to seat ourselves in a little private room-like booth - very nice. The whole place was very beautifully decorated; very modern. Finally someone came to our table and said he would bring menus. He came back with menus and took our drink order. I then ordered a sushi lunch combo which included 5 pieces of nigiri and one roll, chef's choice, accompanied by soup and salad. My husband ordered 4 rolls a la carte. Surpisingly, they also serve soup & salad at no extra charge with a la carte sushi, which was very nice. The miso soup was delicious. The salad was wonderful with the traditional ginger type dressing. I had hot tea to drink and was pleased that it was served in a large mug instead of a tiny cup. The tea was very yummy. When our sushi arrived, it was very well presented on obviously new glass plates, as some of them still had a sticker on them from the manufacturer. We were told that this place had been there for about a year but they had a fire and had recently reopened. As beautiful as the sushi was, it just didn't taste very good. It didn't seem very fresh. The eel rolls were the worst I've ever had. They tasted sweet, almost like BBQ, not what I was used to. The spice tuna roll was OK. The crazy roll was delicious but it just seemed liked the fish wasn't very fresh or perhaps the other ingredients had just lost their zip. Same with the Arizona roll which was the best of all the rolls with crab meat, but something about all the rolls, even the nigiri, just didn't sit well. We also noticed that the wasabi was not spicy. How can wasabi not be spicy?? Weird. Anyways, everything was good except the sushi. read more

I've been here several times now, and had a few different results. Sometimes the sushi is good, sometimes it's just okay. Service is either really slow, or average. And the older lady who is either the owner or manager is rude and unprofessional. My most recent visit I showed up 40 minutes before close, which is plenty to make and eat 3 rolls. But she was very pushy about taking it to go. Even being the only customers the cooked roll I order came out barely warm (like every other time). I won't be going back after this visit, there are plenty of other good Japanese restaurants around. read more

I love this restaurant and the great renovation of the interior from the last restaurant that was in this space. I usually have the same waitress when I go in, and she has always been so sweet and accommodating. The food is delicious, and I love the dry plum wine! For two I would recommend the rock shrimp appetizer, the inside out lobster roll or spider roll, and a hibachi entree to split. Just make sure to bring your appetitie! read more

I work in the area and come here for lunch 2-3 times a month. Though not a upscale Japanese restaurant, food is good and rolls are tasty, bento box special is just about right for lunch not making you too full and sleepy in the afternoon. read more

The wait for our food was about one hour and when it was brought to the table, the food was cold. We had to ask for chopsticks, and the salads that was supposed to come with the food we had to ask for as well... Not a good experience and won't be back... read more

As one walks in, you don't know what to expect. Needless to say, the result is, at best, mild surprise, at the somewhat dark atmosphere. A good natured, but ultimately futile and disappointing attempt at Japanese decor, and the same can be said for the food. I came here twice. Day 1 The first night it took me at least 30 minutes to be seated, mainly because the staff was so short handed and had been surprised by a dinner rush. I was finally seated at the sushi bar, at which point it took another 30 minutes to receive a glass of water. After that it took another 45 minutes to receive my miso soup, which was about as warm as used bath water, and tasted just as bland. Another 25 minutes to receive my entree. I had ordered the Chicken Yakisoba. It was a half enthusiastic, or in this case perhaps an overly enthusiastic, attempt at Japanese cuisine. The chef had over seasoned the dish heavily with ginger and soy sauce, to the point where there was no real taste and left me with an overpowering sense to spit it back out. There was too much salt, the chicken was dry, the vegetables and noodles were soaked in oil and about as greasy as an oil platform. Being starved already, I grinded it out and left annoyed. Day 2 I came back in the hopes that given a second chance and a less busy time of day, the restaurant would redeem itself. I was about as incorrect about my presumption as was the chefs decision making in seasonings to use. I started being sat right away and service was much faster, so a good start. I ordered the Miso soup and Gyoza Dumplings to start, one of my favorite dishes. I immediately noticed the Gyoza were not made from scratch, and more then likely frozen., wouldn't be surprised if they were store bought, but they tasted half decent if I plunged them into soy sauce. The salad was as expected, typical mediocre ginger dressing, but that was expected and ok. The real disappointment came however, when I ordered the Hibachi chicken with fried rice. As I sit here and eat it, the taste reminds me of a cross between pepper and that taste you have when you accidentally swallow some warm seawater. I almost want to accuse this place of just using a microwave to microwave old rice from the day before, but I can't be sure, my taste buds are officially dehydrated and bored. The chicken is dry, over cooked, and over seasoned with what seems to be some funny store bought teriyaki sauce. I thought I ordered hibachi? Overall a disappointing experience and would not come here again. Keep in mind I gave this place two chances. Both times there was a theme of disappointment. I gotta go drink this sapporo beer now and wash my mouth out. Cheers read more

Me and my husband were invited by a group of friends to eat here and I have to say the food was amazing but we never get out much and didn't really have the money to begin with. The bill came and was 50$ for two entrees and two drinks plus an 8$ appetizer. We really only had 50 to spend so unfortunately we were only able to leave a dollar tip. It was nothing personal, just didn't want our bank account to go negative. Everyone else in the party tipped 15% or more so the guy made some money. BUT THEN our bank contacts us today and says that our account overdraft due to the 58.-- bill from Narita's! Our waiter had changed the 1.00$ tip to a 9.00$ tip!!!!! Never in my life have I been stolen from like that from a restaurant. When we called to complain the first question the manager asked was why we tipped so low?! Why does it matter? That's stealing!!! If you use a card to pay here I would write out the tip in word for like "one dollar" instead of writing numbers that can easily be changed after you walk out the front door. read more
