Second time in Franklin, and this was my random yet great find! I visited a car dealer in the area and wanted to grab some quick dinner before driving back to Indy. This is a casual restaurant when're you order and pay first. It's not a big place. I looked at the menu and was surprised their food is so reasonably priced. Definitely lowest "hibachi express" pricing I've seen. I was disappointed that there was no option for a drink that's not sweet except for bottled water. If they are a Japanese restaurant, they should at least carry green tea or oolong tea-I'm sure a lot of people will appreciate it. This place is run by a family and they were nice. The food was quick, generous portions and I loved my chicken hibachi dinner! They brought the dishes with two sauce bottles. One was yum yum sauce the other was hi get sauce which was so delicious. This is our go to spot for fantastic sushi in Franklin. We always get the pick three for $13. You also get soup or salad. (I usually get both as it's only another $2) Very tasty and delicious sides. Really enjoyed my 1st visit to Tomo. Nice clean facility with about 4 booths for inside dining. We ordered take out, 3 rolls and 2 soups and it was ready in 10 mins. Ordered the spicy tuna, California roll and the US 31 roll with spicy tuna. Their spicy definitely has heat to it so next time I will only order 1 spicy item. The clear soup was just like from your normal hibachi restaurant. Had mushrooms and onions. The dumpling soup was good but a little too much pepper. Chicken Habashi is what I tried the first time visiting. It was a small establishment on a island in the middle of a parking lot side by side of other businesses. It came accompanied with fried rice, stir fried vegetables. It also came with either a soup or salad. I opted for the soup at this time. The food was delicious. It was completely filling and the soup took me over the top. I don't remember being this stuffed in a long while. I only paid about $13.00 and the value was great. This is my favorite sushi spot south of Indy. The rolls have a lot of variety, and everything is made to order and very fresh. It seems as though they are using high quality seafood, and it is very consistent. In Franklin, the other option is grocery store sushi, and this is far better. This franchise of a regional (Eastern USA) Japanese/Sushi house opened last year sharing an outbuilding with UPS in the former Kroger stripmall. There is a limited amount of dining tables inside. Fortunately, it wasn't too busy on a Monday evening. They have a small kitchen and the order counter on the right half of the store and the dining on the left. There are paper menus as well as a display overhead behind the cashier and another menu on the counter. I had to wait since the cashiers seemed to be inexperienced on ringing up orders, but once they got things rolling, I was able to get a crabmeat rangoon appetizer and ordered a Dragon Roll and a Spider Roll. They have chilled sodas and bottled water as options. I paid for my order and grabbed a water and went to one of the dining tables and waited for my order to be brought out. The wait wasn't too long for the rangoon. Bright yellow rangoon (6 with simple foldovers) were served with a plastic cup of sweet dipping sauce while the rangoon was served on a Chinet plate. The first thing I noticed was the rangoon were chewy....probably a bit under cooked since there wasn't that crisp crunch I get most places. Still, they were close enough that the insides were cooked and the flavor was undeniably good. So, a rough start, but a nice recovery. As I finished the appetizer, another Chinet plate with my two sushi rolls was brought out with the standard ginger and wasabi. The rolls were fresh and colorful but I must admit I've never seen one roll weave between pieces of the other. Anyway, I can give two recommendations on the rolls. Both had excellent flavor. The Spider roll was wound a bit large, so the end pieces with the tempura protruding were hard to eat due to their size. Oh, well, the flavor was tasty and enjoyable, so the little things like paper plates and odd presentation weren't big enough problems to ruin the experience. Hopefully, the staff will learn the equipment with experience and I will just have to accept this isn't a fine Japanese steakhouse. Review #590 read more

I came into Tomo with a strong craving for some sushi. The restaurant was very clean inside and I was promptly helped by the cashier. I got a takeout order of a spicy tuna roll and a shrimp tempura roll, both very simple compared to the special rolls I usually get.
