Just tried Naschmarkt and it was great! Making a reservation was easy through Open Table. We got there on a Tuesday at 7pm. The restaurant was not packed but had a good amount of people inside. We decided to sit in the patio, which has an overhang and heaters. Great ambiance. The food was delicious! Started off with some Austrian beers. For appetizers, we started with a homemade pretzel and cheese and the smoked chicken spatzle. They were considerate enough to split plates for us. For our main course, we split the kraut rouladen! This was great! Very unique combination of meat and veggies! To end, we had the salzburger nockerl. The soufflé was airy and the blueberry added a good flavor. It's not too common to find Austrian cuisine around, so it was very cool to try Naschmarkt. We were happy with pretty much everything we ordered, and service was very attentive. We ordered several items including the spatzle, crispy spring rolls, sausage trio, mix green salad, wiener schnitzel, and vanilla souffle. Out of everything we ordered, the only thing I probably wouldn't order again was the mixed green salad. It was a bit plain and probably needed some extra ingredients or more dressing at the very least to cut through the bitterness of the greens. However, everything else was delicious, and I would definitely return to this restaurant! This is a fantastic restaurant with authentic Austrian food, a relaxed atmosphere, and excellent service. On nice days, you can sit outside and enjoy the weather while you dine. I've been here a few times and usually go for the Hungarian goulash, and for an appetizer, I order the pretzel with cheese sauce and sausage trio. For dessert, you can't beat their apple strudel. My husband travels to Vienna often for work but because of the pandemic he hasn't been able to. He's been missing the city very much so for our anniversary I surprised him with a dinner at Naschmarkt. We felt so comfortable and welcome the moment we stepped in to the moment we stepped out. Every single person in that place is amazing and I can definitely see myself returning in the near future. You can tell the chefs pour their hearts into every single dish. Judging by what we did try, there probably isn't anything on the menu that wouldn't make you happy. Kudos to a beautiful local restaurant that's definitely worth supporting. Everything was amazing! Must try the homemade pretzel with beer cheese, chives and bacon. Best pretzel I've ever had and the cheese was out of bounds. We split a special entree and I'm not sure of the official name since it wasn't on the menu. See the picture. Portion was large and it was all delicious. Dessert we had peach cobbler. Absolutely phenomenal. Our waiter Joseph F made it fresh earlier that day. It came out piping hot and was plenty for two of us to share. Service was exceptional! We never had a dry glass. Came here with my son for lunch. Restaurant was 3/4 empty so it was nice to have the room to ourselves, as it is a small space. We ordered the pretzel, spaetzle, schnitzel and molten chocolate cake. The pretzel was great and had nice flavor but perhaps not as soft/moist as I was anticipating. I would like to come back again at dinner time to compare, as perhaps it was pre-fired too early or something. The beer cheese was outstanding! The bacon and chives were a perfect garnish and the bacon they used was crisp, smoky and excellent. This could be slathered on any pretzel and would be amazing. The spaetzle which came with corn, peas and shmeji mushrooms was buttery and flavorful but could have used a pinch more salt, in my opinion. It had parsley and not tarragon (and no Brussels sprouts), as the menu stated, which was likely from Winter menu but not changed - no big deal but worth noting. Veal schnitzel, while it was very tasty - with a crispy exterior and moist inside, it also needed a finish of salt after it came out of the oil and I did not see any on it. Hard time deciding between the Apple streusel, chocolate cake and the Sacher torte. We went with the chocolate molten cake - it was rich and it wasn't too sweet, yet had decadent chocolate flavor you would expect. Warm and perfect oozing center, with cold vanilla ice cream. A nice finish to the meal. My son was very happy and this was a great finish to our lunch. It was never rushed and we felt very comfortable there. Server was very friendly. We had 3 different people checking on us, food came out in a timely fashion and we ran out of table space and had to box items up as they were pretty big on the portions. We had to sit outside and they had 3 patio heat lamps near us and made it toasty warm. When I was cutting into homemade pretzel with Gruyere cheese topped with speck it was slippery and it flipped onto the floor. Doh! Was a bit embarrassing but kinda laughed it off. They quickly obliged and made another one at no cost. Their most memorable dishes were the spaetzle with smoked chicken, corn, Brussel sprout petals, tarragon and mushrooms. We recently went back to Naschmarkt and had a fantastic experience. Our waiter was awesome. He was not only very attentive and personable, but made great recommendations and was honest about some of the dishes that may not be as fantastic. It's that kind of honesty that had us come back in less than one month. Their food has taken a step away from their German/Austrian roots, but went also up in its flavors. Here are the standouts from our last 2 visits: -Mussel special: Naschmarkt you gotta make this a regular item. This dish is perfect! -Garlic soup special: it doesn't sound like much, but this soup was out of this world. I decided to split it with the hubby and regretted sharing after my first spoon. The initial flavors that hit your palette scream "lobster bisque," followed by a pleasant and not overpowering garlic aftertaste. -Duck confit: I'm not the biggest fan of their spaghetti squash and sauce combo with this dish, but the duck itself is incredible and that's why I get that dish. There hasn't been a dish we didn't enjoy here. Wait, I take that back. The red kraut is not that authentic. But if you can look past authenticity it was still good. Their cocktails are also quite good. The "It's all figtition" is my go-to and their eggnog was bomb! I had an issue with a food delivery app and the manager (I believe Ishmael is his name) went above and beyond to take care of it. IMHO - Covid Edition Ever since I saw this Austrian/German restaurant featured on "Check Please!" a few years ago, I've wanted to dine here! My 45th wedding anniversary seemed like a good reason to finally make a reservation! Due to Covid, indoor seating is temporarily unavailable but the street is closed off from vehicle traffic for outdoor dining. Street tables were more than 6 feet distanced from each other, and all had umbrellas to shade their customers. Our table for six was located right outside the restaurant in the shade. All servers and hosts were masked and wearing gloves. Jose was our amiable server! He offered up the specials of the night and his recommendations. Our party enjoyed the smoked pork bratwurst appetizer, scallops, watermelon gazpacho soup, butter lettuce salad, goat cheese purse salad, hungarian beef goulash, classic wiener schnitzel, jager schnitzel, halibut, and many sides of their delicious spaetzle. EVERYTHING was delicious and flavorful! You can't go wrong with any of the offered desserts. We enjoyed the apple strudel, fluffy vanilla souffle w/ blueberry compote, and a strawberry Austrian crepe. For our anniversary, we were presented with a complimentary trio of sorbet samples! This restaurant always seems to be busy, and that's likely because their food is so good. The restaurant is small, with a lot of tables relatively close together. We went on a weeknight, and it was packed, with just about every table taken and the outside patio nearly full as well. Indoors can be noisy. We had the Jager Schnitzel - a pork cutlet braised in a mushroom cream sauce and served with al dente broccolini and spatzle (small noodles). The Jager Schnitzel was tender and delicious. We also ordered the special of the evening which was a Chicken Paprikash (chicken thighs braised in a paprika sauce). The chicken was excellent, although the sauce was a bit on the salty side. The Rouladen was the star entree. It was a stuffed cabbage filled with beef, pork and smoked bacon. It was served with creamed leeks, fingerling potatoes and greens with a demi-glace sauce - soul-satisfying and delicious. The server was nice, but the service in general was a little spotty. We asked for bread twice, and never received it. So one star off for service, but otherwise a great restaurant that's worth a try. Parking can be challenging in downtown Campbell but there are a few parking lots nearby if you can't find street parking, and don't mind walking a few blocks. read more

For a drink, I got the Austrian Maultier which is one of their seasonal drinks. It had vodka, raspberry, and ginger beer in it. Tasted very much like a Moscow mule which I love! Like before, this was super tasty. The loved the creamy mushroom sauce/gravy that is comes with. The spatzle is reminds me of what I ate while I was visiting Austria. So good! My fiancé picked the sausage trio as his main entree. He liked that you get 3 different sausages to try. His meal was also very tasty. For dessert, we couldn't pass up the Salzburger Nockerl. We ate this in Austria and their rendition is pretty much to the T! It's nice and fluffy and the ice cream and berry compote it comes with is amazing. Definitely check this place out! If you're fortunate, street parking is possible. The restaurant is small and noisy because of the closeness of the tables. We started with the pretzels and sausage mix appetizer. All of this was all delicious and plentiful. My brother-in-law and I both had the jagger schnitzel; so very good! My wife and sister-in-law both the stroganoff; again, so very good! The spatzle was a great start as the flavors blended well, they were even nice enough to spit it for us. My 7 year old loved the pretzel (she had it plain), it looked great with all the toppings. For entrees I had the kraut rouldan, when you get each component in one buy it was amazing. I really enjoyed the fact that the vegetables were not over cooked and still had some bit to them. I don't usually give 5 stars to a restaurant I've only been to once, but I really can't justify giving Naschmarkt anything but a perfect score! They left nothing to be desired! The staff here was excellent. From our server to the bus boy to the maître d, all were attentive and moved around the dining room floor with purpose. To start, we shared the Smoked Chicken Spatzle. It was very tasty! A little rich for my pallet (I could not eat an entire bowl by myself) but was great to share! For my entrée, I had the Kraut Rouladen. My entrée was probably the least special out of the three diners in my party but was still very good. The dish is surprisingly light, despite resembling giant meatballs! I would have preferred more veggies, and maybe a little more of the demiglace, but otherwise the dish was very tasty. The Duck Pot Pie was near perfection! I love pot pies but didn't want to order this because I'm not a huge fan of duck. But I would order this the next time I go! The overall flavor is reminiscent of Thanksgiving (which happens to be my favorite meal), with the duck tasting like dark meat turkey. But probably the best food we had was the Hungarian Beef Goulash. The meat was so tender and the sauce so rich and full of flavor. I 100% recommend this dish! You can tell this is cooked (braised?) over a long period of time, the flavor is so developed and savory. It's served with a side of spatzle, but you could put this on an old shoe and I would devour the entire thing We finished our meal with dessert. We ordered the Apple Strudel and Schoko Kuchen (Chocolate Lava Cake). They were just okay in my opinion (the strudel was average and the schoko kuchen was too rich). They gave us the trio of sorbet on the house (it was my mom's birthday) and while I didn't understand how fruity sorbet fit in with Austrian cuisine, it was delicious! My first time at this eatery was for a family dinner on a Saturday evening - the experience exceeded my expectations. First of all, the food is delicious and the chef deserves all the praise. Of equal importance though, the staff (all customer-facing employees) made our night extra special. Our server, Jose, was personable, knowledgeable, and funny. He helped guide our choices for what to eat by providing personal recommendations and sharing popular preferences.
