    Happy customer! Wonderful Dinner!

This restaurant is very impressive. It's cozy interior and waiters are all friendly and genuine. My waiter of the night; he knows very well about menu and wines. I had spicy sausage with sauerkraut. It's excellent. I also had steak. Steak cooks perfectly but potatoes were a little on a salty side. I had one Austrian Moscow Mule cocktail (very nice similar to Moscow Mule).

Good service, nice ambiance. As an appetizer we tried the paprikawurst, it tasted like a sausage. I wouldn't order it again. My father ordered the salmon and I tried a little of it, it was very good. I had the Hungarian Beef Goulash and it was alright. My only point of reference is goulash I ate in Vienna and Budapest, and this missed the mark compared to those meals. I would order the salmon again, I would not order the goulash again. I'm also a big fan of spatzle but I felt the spatzle here was just slightly above average. I likely wouldn't order it again. I also shared the apple strudel and it was delicious and decadent. I'd eat it again. Overall, I'm not sure I'd come back here. I think at this price point there are superior restaurants.

Austrian food in Downtown Campbell. Great good & ambiance. The local delights like Schnitzels, Sausages r top notch. Spring rolls & Salmon were well done & tasty. Mocktails are fun. Service was quick. Nice detour for foodies.

Been wanting to eat German food recently so I came here for my birthday dinner with a group on a Sunday evening. You could do reservations via Yelp but they didn't have the time I want, so I ended up calling the restaurant and the staff made a reservation for me. Overall an easy process. The restaurant is located in downtown Campbell, so you either have to find parking on the streets or in the parking garage on 2nd St, and on Sunday evening, there were quite a few spots on the street. The restaurant is quite small, but cozy. They also have outdoor seating. We got seated a few minutes before our reservation and they immediately brought out waters and bread with butter. The bread was still nice and warm. I ordered the cabbage rolls and the blackberry alcoholic drink (forgot the names). The food took a bit to come out but it was worth the wait! Everything was delicious and well presented. My fiancé ordered the pork schnitzel with the mushroom sauce, but they ran out of pork and offered to make it with veal instead. The portion sizes are quite large, so we ended up taking leftovers home. We also got desserts and I ordered the sachertorte. It was not too sweet considering it was made with apricots, but a bit on the dry side. I'd definitely come back here to try the other dishes! It is on the pricier side (although the portions are large!), so probably only for special occasions.

So I was craving schnitzel and the last time I had any was in Germany. A quick search on yelp and I found Austrian Naschmarkt! I booked a lunch reservation and went to see what this place was all about! I ordered a glass of Austrian wine, because, well it's an Austrian restaurant! The wine was good and flavourful. We also ordered the tomato/eggplant soup which was creamy and served in a very elegant way. We also ordered and tried the fresh mulberry soda, which was tart, yet refreshing! When it came to food, I was getting schnitzel! When I asked our server which is better, the dinner plate or sandwich, he immediately responded with sandwich! So it was settled. The schnitzel sandwich came out in a fresh pretzel bread bun, took a bite which was flavourful and delicious! The potato wedges it came with were just enough and very hot/crispy. The sauce which comes with the wedges and sandwich is very creamy and yummy! The space was very upscale, yet casual and comfy. This place is perfect for a date, lunch with friends or family with seating inside and out on patio, which is heated and covered. Our host/server was very attentive and nice. He made sure we had everything to our liking and continued checking in on our dining experience. The price was reasonable for what you get and quality of food! I did go to the downtown Campbell location, which has metered street parking or a 2 hour free parking lot nearby. Definitely a place I'll go again for a taste of Europe!

The service was great and friendly. Huge drink selection and plenty of dinning options. I really enjoyed everything and how different it is from many of the restaurants in the area. I look forward to going back

We had a great experience here. There were 4 of us. The tables are packed in pretty tightly. They were very busy on Friday night. The food ran about $30+. I had the Jagar Schnitzel. It was delicious. Everyone agreed it was the best dish of our 4. Creamy mushroom sauce and the spaetzle Was amazing. My husband had the swordfish. It was good. A little dry. Another friend had the goulash. The meat was tender and definitely paprika forward. And then another had the stuffed cabbage. The stuffing was delicious. Very thin layer of cabbage. We had chocolate lava cake for dessert and it was delicious. Our waiter was well informed, friendly, and attentive. All in all we were happy with dinner and will return.

I considered giving this restaurant 5 stars. The foods were delicious, services attentive, drinks excellent, desserts sinful, and deco elegant (not overly ornate). Why 4-star? The appetizers, sides, and "other ingredients" were actually better than the main ingredients. Not that there's anything wrong with the main attractions. I highly recommend this place. You can consider ordering appetizers and side dishes and skip the entreés. Weird, huh? The Smoked Chicken Spatzle is a must order -- spatzle soft, chicken just slightly smoked, peas and corns made the whole thing light and delightful. Pretzel is better ordered from the side menu, instead of from appetizers. I expect all fat rendered out from the double cooked pork belly. Not so. It was delicious, only a bit greasy on the mouth. The sturgeon was a bit "fishier" on taste, yet perfectly cooked. The polenta-like bedding underneath the sturgeon was probably the best tasting item for the whole evening! I will order the dish just for that. Saltzbuger Nockerl is soufflé by their name. It has blueberry jame (compote?) on the bottom and also a side of ice cream on top of blueberry compote. So fluffy that it practically disappeared in the mouth.

Best schnitzel I've had in this hemisphere. It captures the light bubbliness and soft texture of what you get in Austria. The chicken paprikas was excellent and the spaetzle/nokedli (I'll use the Hungarian word, too) was just how my mom makes it. Highest marks and we'll do the drive many times again for this food.

    Michael L.

Happy to find a German establishment in the Bay Area! They're not that easy to come by here, and this one also has other crossover dishes like Hungarian goulash with nokedli. Everything was very hearty, I do wish the beef goulash had just a little bit more flavor and umami to it and just a little less salt. Desserts were great especially the apple pie with vanilla ice cream and the chocolate cake! Parking was straightforward in Campbell downtown and the online reservation process was quick and easy. This one is worth a try, and then it's primarily up to whether you like German food in general or not after that...

    Are Dogs allowed?

    Yes but Only at Patio.

Does the beef goulash still come with spätzle?

Yes Sir, It’s still being served with house made Spatzle Thanks

Hi! Do they serve Salzburger Nockerl for dessert at lunch? Also is the Beef Stroganoff no longer on the menu? Thank you!

When I ordered beef stroganoff in February, I got the impression it was a monthly special. I had been there in Jan and it was a double pork chop. I dont know what the rotation is. Hopefully beef stroganoff will return soon

    What about dairy free options?

    Yes there are some options

Is the lunch menu the same as the dinner menu?

No, they have different menus for lunch and dinner. There are a couple overlapping items, but the two menus are quite different for the most part.

    Are there any non-meat options?

Yes, our chef is really good at creating vegan or vegetarian dishes upon request

Does anyone know what is the largest number of people they take for a reservation? I know it's a small restaurant.

They take reservations for 4 online, 5 and above you need to call the restaurant.

Does anyone know if they sell gift cards? Thinking of stopping in to grab one for an engagement gift but I am from out of the area so want to make sure thats an option.

Yes, they do have gift certificates! I got one for the holiday season last year and just used it last month! It was a tasty meal!

Usually when I note a birthday occasion, restaurants will at least acknowledge it with a small dessert or candle, so I honestly thought there might be something small for us too -- though maybe that's only during dinner service. In the end, there wasn't anything. What upset me more was how rushed the experience felt near the end. Staff were very quick to clear empty plates, and when we got the dessert menu, we asked if the restaurant was closing. The staff member told us the kitchen would close in 5 minutes and rushed us to order dessert quickly. It honestly made the atmosphere feel stressful instead of enjoyable, especially for a birthday celebration. In the end, we didn't even order dessert and just left. I've experienced rushed dining before, but mostly at busy casual places, so I was surprised to experience this kind of atmosphere here. Overall, the experience felt more rushed than welcoming

I should've used my instincts when I came in to this crowded unclean restaurant that this was the beginning of a terrible experience. Floors aren't swept, tables covered in food and dishes, people crowding the register. But like most adventurous people who respect the food industry, I get that staff can be backed up or some orders take longer to cook, or maybe there's just a large party dining in. I truly get it. I wanted to give this a chance as it seemed like a diamond in the rough due to the current review status. Boy was I so wrong. I waited for over an hour for a soup, salad and pork Schnitzel (still waiting as I type this review) . Staff did not give us any update, nor did they seem to remember what we ordered, no sense of urgency. What's the point of giving us a receipt number, or table placard with numbers if no one is following it, and there's a handful of people asking for a status update? It wasn't until we asked for a refund IF they haven't started with preparing our order did they actually care. Mind you now it's 30minutes before closing, they are still taking orders and they still haven't served others who are just as upset for not being served. Maybe it was a bad day, but it affected me and family enough to not consider coming back. Good luck to you Esther's Update: after 1hr 45min, They forgot our salad, the soup of the day was sub par Campbells soup, and their pork schnitzel was lackluster.

Staff was attentive, friendly, and helpful, and even when we moved to the bar after dinner, the bartender was awesome. The place had a lot of seating available in multiple rooms, with lovely artworks throughout and a combination of exposed brick and wooden wall panels. And though we didn't come on a night with live music or entertainment, we absolutely enjoyed our experience here. To eat, we got the sausage combination platte, wiener schnitzel plate with potato salad, and jägerschnitzel dish. The portion sizes are quite large, and we were impressed by the taste and quality of each of these items. The sausages were so juicy and flavorful, two of them stood out but I didn't know which one was which. It wasn't too heavy, which I appreciated as well. The breaded pork cutlet was yummy, especially with the thick buttery white wine mushroom sauce, and the spätzle was cooked perfectly. I finished every single bite, and I'm typically not a big fan of pasta. That's how much I liked the dish. My bf wiped his plate clean too, with tender veal and german style potato salad. I liked how the soft drinks came in beer mug looking glasses, fitting for the theme. We also tried a couple different german schnaps before leaving, the jagertee and bärenjager, and both were really good.

I have to start my review by saying how sorry I feel for all the people who come here and spend…read moretheir hard-earned money. I apologize on behalf of this place, and please don't judge European cuisine based on the kind of terrible food you get here. Nothing is authentic about preheated food that's supposed to come freshly out of the oven. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they just put some of it in the microwave. We arrived on a Saturday at 5:45 PM and the place was completely empty. The owner's first question was whether we had a reservation. That was the first red flag I should have noticed, but the red flags just kept coming. The food arrived suspiciously fast. We ordered a lot of dishes, so I was actually worried it wouldn't even fit on the table. The first thing I asked for, as a European, was bread. I asked if they could bring out plenty so I wouldn't have to keep asking for more. She brought 4 tiny pieces and said, "If you eat all of it, I'll bring more." Well, that didn't sit well with me. After the first bite, I immediately asked her to take it back because it was terrible. It tasted like minimum one-week-old dry, moldy bread. Then the manager came to the table and interrogated me about why I called the bread terrible. He claimed it was "authentic German bread" right after finding out I was European just minutes before. I even asked them to at least put it in the toaster, hoping that would improve it a little. After that, it felt like they kept harassing us. "Is everything okay?" Even the owner started yelling from the other side of the restaurant asking if everything was good. I'm only posting the pictures to show how much food we ordered -- and there wasn't a single dish that wasn't terrible. This is the type of food that's only enjoyable when it's fresh. Not a single dish tasted like it was cooked that day. Just think about how day-old reheated French fries taste -- terrible. That's exactly how we felt about the entire meal. The weirdest part came when we asked for to-go boxes. They didn't know we only planned to take the food home for my friend's dog. When they came back with the boxes and tried taking the plates away, my friend said, "Oh wait, I want to take that pork skin for my dog." The waitress replied that she could bring a smaller box for it, and I was honestly so close to saying, "Save yourself the trip -- all of this food is for the dog anyway. Just put it with the rest." But I decided not to be as rude and unprofessional as the staff was here. I don't think I even need to mention that we will never come back. I posted this mainly to warn my fellow Europeans not to come here, and to educate those who may not realize that nothing here is fresh. I'm saying all of this as a former restaurant owner in Europe, a former chef, and simply as someone who knows how food is supposed to taste.

The atmosphere is exactly what you want from a place like this as it is lively but not loud, cozy but not cramped, and always buzzing with good energy, from the staff through to most of the patrons on any given night. The menu is a greatest-hits tour of German comfort food. The deviled eggs are a must to start your meal and the wienerschnitzel is my personal go‑to as it is crispy, moist, and so flavorful every time I've had it. The jägerschnitzel is another standout if you are feeling something a little lighter and saucier as it rich and savory in all the right ways, and the sausages are always banging and perfect alongside a big stein of beer. It's the kind of food that feels made for long conversations and slow sipping. What really elevates Suppenküche, though, is the people. The staff are super friendly and clearly know their stuff, always ready with a beer recommendation or a menu suggestion and the patrons tend to match that vibe; if you end up at the bar or sharing a table, which is pretty common if you come with a small group, you're likely to find yourself chatting with someone new before long. There's honestly no better way to make new friends in SF than bonding over schnitzel and a great German beer at Suppenküche.

The ambiance felt pretty nice, it gave off that traditional home vibe that felt like the family and extended family have come over, and everyone enjoyed great food and drinks, which I found nice. We started with a large IPA, and wooahh was it huge. It definitely worked out for my partner and me, so we shared the large IPA. Also started off with the gourmet sausage w. Saurkraut, pickles, and local bread, and went with Polish Kielbasa, which was delicious! I enjoyed the flavors of the Polish sausage, and the sauerkraut tasted refreshing, combined with the pickles and soft bread. We also ended up getting Szeged Goulash, ohhhhh my, that was delicioussssss!!! The cream soaked into the Gnocchi so well, and I could've drank a glass of that by itself! The pork goulash was delicious and extremely tender. When I bit into all 3, wow, my mouth was in flavor heaven. I'll definitely be coming back here again. I wish I had known about this place sooner!

The restaurant has a…read morevery eclectic interior design style, with bold wallpaper in the check in area, and large statues throughout the dining area. We booked a reservation and arrived about 5 minutes before our reservation time, however we were not seated until almost 20 minutes after our reservation had started. If you go to La Fondue, I would plan for about 2 hours for your meal if you choose one of the coursed meals. While the restaurant was slow to seat us, the team was attentive once we were seated. Most of us ordered the fondue feast, and since we were a party of 8 we got the choice of 2 types of cheeses. We chose the stinking rose and four cheese, both of which were delicious. A selection of bread, potatoes, pickles, and fruits are brought out to dip in the cheese, and the staff will bring out more on request. Most of our party got the fondue feast, so there was lots of variety in the types of meats we were served. Some of the standouts were the duck and the boar. The spatulas given were a little difficult to use when flipping the meats, but other than that our grilling experience went smoothly. Our meal ended with chocolate fondue, served with a wide variety of desserts to dip in it. We chose the decadent one and chocotastic flavors, both of which were delicious. My favorites to dip in the fondue were the fruits, but they offer everything from strawberries to pound cake to cream puffs to cookie dough bites! Overall, I would definitely come back, but likely during a less busy time to avoid waiting so long before being seated.
