We just moved here from California so we are used to have a bakeries/dessert shops all over the place. After moving to the area we realized there just aren't many bakeries around the area so we decided to try this one since it has the most reviews. It was packed so that was a good sign but beyond that, everything went down hill. We ordered a variety of cannolis to try. Everything was very sweet. I couldn't even finish one. My daughter left hers half finished as well. I guess We will have to continue our search for bakeries within a 10 mile radius that is more refined and less of a sugar bomb. read more

This is by far the best bakery in NJ. All the cakes they have are just perfect! Good proportion of bread and cream. I would always get cakes from this place for all the events. I bought their vanilla base strawberry cake for my sisters baby shower and it was a hit! Everyone loved it:) I also bought a chocolate mousse cake for my friend's birthday and that is also very good. This place is excellent. The best bakery in area and one of best in NJ. Staff is very nice. I am willing to drive the extra 15 mins to buy from here although there are other bakeries closer. I have been going here for cakes and baked goods for over 10 years. The checkerboard cake is a family favorite. Also really love the crueler donuts and oatmeal apple tarts. First time visiting and it seems pretty good, i must add that the customers are obnoxious assholes though. Some dumb B almost ran me over while she was busy entering the small parking lot and didn't even acknowledge it. If i was in a different mood it wouldn't have ended there. Then while exiting some dipshit in a big hurry to get in and wait on line almost ran into us and again no acknowledgement of being an asshole. Another holiday season means another carbtastic trip to Natale's Bakery! For the last 6 years or so, Natale's has been a welcomed staple at our family holiday dessert spread. This year was no different as I bought a Philly fluff, peach crumble pie, cookie platter, and a pumpkin cupcake for the road. I did come about 3 weeks earlier to order a birthday cake for my mom so I was able to pick up the holiday 2010 menu and pre-ordered everything ahead of time. That was a saving grace because everything was ready when I got there and I just had to drop my name and pay, made me feel like I had VIP status. The actual baked goods were of course amazing. The Philly fluff is always a crowd pleaser. It's halfway between a perfect buttery pound cake and a creamy and light cheesecake topped with a generous helping of powder sugar. I actually recently tried the Shoprite version of this cake and let's just say once you've had Dom you can't go back to Korbel. The peach pie wasn't as out of this world awesome as the Philly fluff but still an above average pie. The filling did taste like it came out of a can but I can't blame them (where do you get fresh peaches in November?). The pumpkin cupcake was bought on a whim as I couldn't leave the place without an instant source of gratification. I loved the light whipped topping and the cake was SUPER moist. Sooo good! I don't know why they don't make it into a larger cake. The only thing I can't completely comment on is the cookie platter, which was purchased for my neighbors. Parking was ridiculous on the morning before Thanksgiving so I parked about two blocks down the road and walked. Normally the small parking lot is enough for the regular patrons but around holiday times, you just can't predict how crazy it can get. Price is a bit steep for baked goods ($18.95 for a tray of cookies) but you can't put a price on quality so I'm willing to shell it out. read more

This bakery is definitely one of the BEST IN NJ!!!! Their cakes are awesome!! The checkerboard cake is unique and delicious!! Their original Philly Fluff is out of this world...Just when you've thought you tasted their best cake, you try another one and you have a new favorite!!! On top of my list is their Philly Fluff with chocolate, Tiramisu Cake, Flourless Chocolate Cake, and the checkerboard. I order cupcakes for my children's events...always a hit!! It's called Natale's and boy it's worth a trip from wherever you live, seriously it's that good! Their cases are full of mouth watering desserts. I'm really amazed at the high stars given to Natale's because of the 2 times I've paid for their baked goods, I've been nothing but disappointed at the quality and the customer service. The first time was for my older sister's wedding. We had heard good things about this bakery so we ordered her wedding cake (vanilla with cream and strawberries in the center) from there after trying the samples at the bakery and speaking to the staff about the quality of the ingredients. Wedding day comes and HUGE disappointment in the cake. The cake was crumble-dry and clearly frozen...possibly for more than one night. Strawberries in the center? Try maybe 2 strawberries total in the entire cake. The second time was for my niece's birthday. We thought we'd give Natale's another shot b/c everyone can have an off day, especially bakers. Right? We pick up the cake which had been specifically ordered as vanilla with white frosting and strawberries in the middle. The party starts and people are mingling, we finally get to the part where we cut the cake and...CHOCOLATE cake. Not vanilla. So my sister calls them up, leaves them a message about how disappointed she was that they screwed up the order. Any thoughtful customer service reply? ZERO. No need to admit that they made the wrong order b/c the customer already paid, right? Right. Thanks so much for calling us back and addressing our complaint, Natale's. Moral of the story? There is no way I'm going back to Natale's after all this. If you do need a bakery, I'd suggest King's or Whole Foods. just stay FAR away from Natale's. read more

Okay so my Mom worked across the street from Natale' s (as the director of the Summit Child Care Center) for many years. Many times my Dad would go to Natales, order a Philly Fluff OR a Boston Puff!! He said he couldn't remember the name of the cake. I, however, knew my Dad well and knew he was just being a wiseguy. Then he would pick up my Mom, get on 78 and come to visit my own family in Hillsborough, NJ. Over the years our orders expanded (as did our family) and changed to include different cakes, pastries etc. Many years later after Mom retired I went to work at "95" as an administrator. I liked to surprise my staff with random treats! Natalie' s always took very good care of us! They went above and beyond for their customers, especially their regulars. If nothing else treat yourself/friends/family to The darn Philly/ Boston Fluff OR Puff! Eat it alone or with freshly whipped cream and fresh fruit! Natale's is like an addiction. Once you taste their key lime pie, you will never eat any other again. But it's not just the pie... each and every item they make is out-of-this world delicious. I expected the place to be a bit bigger, they don't have as much variety as the bakeries that I frequent. The bread is great, and the pastries are decent. The cannolis were pretty good, but they're a bit small. They weren't the best I've had, but definitely decent. The pignoli cookies are great. These are the only pignoli cookies that I've had that are almost as good as my favorite. I usually automatically expect disappointment when it comes to them, so that was a pleasant surprise. It's a tad pricier than what I'm used to, but it's definitely a good product. Do I think it's worth all of the hype I've heard about it? Nah, but it's definitely a good little bakery. read more

I have been spoiled by Natale's since I was born. They are the only bakery my family trusts for any party or event. Just about everything I've had has been excellent--and I'm not even a cake fan! My favorite include the Napoleons (and napoleon cake) and the crumb cake--it just melts in your mouth. The only thing I don't love are the pignoli nut cookies. I don't know what it is...they're good, but I've had better from other bakeries. Despite that, I always try to make a stop when I'm back in town. read more

Great bakery and many items are very reasonably priced. I love the cranberry nut tart, bear claws, apple poorman pie, and hamburger buns. When looking for a soft bread for sub sandwiches I really enjoy theirs (a crusty baguette is not their strength - not that I expect it at an Italian bakery). They offer a wide variety of cakes and tarts, as well as a few pies - nearly all I have tried have been great. I particularly like a chocolate mousse cake they make with chocolate ganache. The key lime pie is tasty. I would prefer it to be covered with lots of fresh whipped cream on top, but I'm not complaining at the price point. I like the cupcake frostings - standard, no frills, but good. I have found over many purchases that the yellow cake is consistently better than the chocolate cake in the cupcakes. The only thing I've had that I actively didn't like was a scone - it was dry and tasteless. The brownies are so-so - ok but not my top choice - Cait and Abby's are much more to my taste, though also much more expensive. I am also not excited by the cannoli as they fill them in advance - though their cannoli cream is tasty. Overall my favorite bakery in the area -- tasty, pretty reasonable, and nice people. read more

I love that their desserts are sooo much better then most average "white" bakeries (white sugar, whipped cream frostings and fillings, lard, MSG, etc.) Their goods taste better because the grade of ingredients are worlds better then what most bakeries use. And you will not have the problem of having your eyes see something that looks pretty, but then the taste does not match up to the visual. Everything I've had here tastes as good as it looks. They have the most delicious light and crispy donuts that melt in your mouth. They don't leave a slick of oil on your tongue or a too butter aftertaste. They are perfection! If you love cupcakes, you cannot go wrong with their Devil's Food Cupcake...it is one of the most divine cupcake tastes I've experienced. Super creamy! Everything else I've ever gotten there, from pastries to cake has been just perfect. (I have a high end palate so do not say this lightly!) The flavors are not too overpowering, not too underpowered either. Their flavors are heavenly blissful and taste like high class european bakeries. I have to be careful not to get too addicted whenever I go home!! You cannot go wrong. Highly recommended. read more

Everything at Natalie's is exceptional. Everything is made with the freshest of ingredients which makes for the best baked goods in the area. A Philadelphia Fluff cake rarely lasts longer than 48 hours in our house. If somehow enough is saved to freeze, it still tastes delicious defrosted.
