We almost skipped Natalia's because of some of the negative reviews, but we're so glad we decided to give it a chance! Our experience was fantastic from start to finish!!! It was a slower morning with only couple dine in guest, was quiet morning in the mountains but loved the quaint and very cozy vibe with great antique decor! There were three of us, and we ordered the French toast with scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy with eggs over easy, and the traditional breakfast with wheat toast. Every plate was huge, the food arrived hot and full of flavor, and everything was cooked just right. Our waiter was wonderful! Very friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Great service really made the experience even better. We're so grateful we decided to see for ourselves instead of relying solely on the reviews. Natalia's exceeded our expectations, and we hope others will give this local spot a chance too. We visited by way of the train. We were seated very quickly and orders were taken promptly. Food arrived fairly quickly. The meals were mediocre. The overall service was ok. We were heading from Grand Junction to Durango and stopped in the picturesque town of Silverton. I had reviewed the menus of several restaurants and this one seemed to have the most varied menu, so we decided to stop. The atmosphere was nice and the server was very friendly, but that's where the pros stopped. My companion ordered the Old Fashioned Hot Beef Sandwich. It was two huge sliced of bread, filled with a tiny portion of roast beef and smothered in brown gravy. Needless to say, she was unimpressed. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. It was clearly a frozen patty that was thrown into the deep fryer, covered with powdered gravy mix and alongside packaged mashed potatoes. I can imagine this restaurant survives due to unsuspecting tourists. It's a shame because I love supporting local, non-chain restaurants. read more

I have a second home in Silverton, so I visit multiple times a year for weeks at a time. When I'm NOT in town, I get mouth-watering CRAAAVINGS for Natalia's Philly chicken sandwich! It's a very simple dish, but the bread is always fresh, the chicken is tender and juicy with no gristle. Add melty cheese and seasoned, sautéed veggies. *Sluuurp* Is the service slow? Yeah, sometimes. But as a "local" whose schedule is not dictated by the train timetable, I don't really care if I have to wait a bit (within reason, of course). A few summers in a row, Natalia's has hired back the same servers who are non-native English speakers. I always show patience when they're taking my order, and I let the servers know they can help the tourists first since they're the ones on a more rigid time schedule. Listen, Silverton is BEAUTIFUL, but it's frickin' remote and "small towny" as hell. It's not an easy place for ANYONE to live, much less someone who isn't born-and-bred American. What an incredible opportunity it is for Natalia's servers to get to know this magnificent place WHILE working a service industry job (sometimes more than one!) and BRAVELY immersing themselves in not only a new language, but in what is surely a crazy culture shock. read more

Expensive for very mediocre food. I had the trout fish and chips. The trout was not very fresh. I asked for tartar sauce and got packets of mayonnaise instead. My husband said his ham and cheese melt was just okay. We both had iced tea and our bill was $46. Our waiter was very good, very attentive. The place is always clean. We have been there before and on our previous visit, the food was very good. I only went here because they had a cool outdoor seating area. When asked if we wanted to sit in or outside, I said outside. We were then immediately taken to an indoor spot...which is completely different than the outdoor zone where a guy was playing music. My wife said something and they just said there was no outdoor seating, even though she'd just offered. So whatever, we'll eat in what amounts to my grandma's decor stuffed between tables spaced so closely together my young kids were squeezing it in to get through. Elk burger was so burnt, and I wasn't even offered a choice of how to cook it. My one kid orders chicken fingers and fries, they bring him mashed potatoes covered in...gravy? Could have been jello? Servers were super abrupt and not attentive at all, and despite discussing how I wanted my Bloody Mary for like 7 minutes, he still got it wrong. For some reason he didn't know what salt was. My first time to Silverton and was looking for a spot to have lunch. My boyfriend and I were very hungry and looking forward to a nice meal. It seemed timeless and authentic with an extensive menu. The carpeted floors and disregarding employees started the experience off. Hoping the food would make up for it, the pricey menu options left us feeling like it must be good. My boyfriend ordered the French Dip and I ordered the Fish and Chips. When our food arrived, the meals were served on plastic plates. The French Dip was cold and stringy-like a wet baseball glove. Not worthy of the title to say the least. The Fish and Chips consisted of cardboard-esque pieces of fish with no flavor and sub-par French fries. The quality of food combined with the gross carpets/existing food particles left from the patrons before us and absentminded employees left us feeling extremely disappointed and stunned by the low quality food and overall experience. We only took a few bites and felt disgusted. With no option to complain, given the lack of attention, we could have easily walked out. The main reason for my 3 star is that the food is just okay. Nothing outstanding, ordinary diner type food. If I lived here I would never crave it. However, the food was quick and they accommodated our party of 15 immediately. They do have a salad and sides bar and seem to cater to the train traffic. It's close to the station which is east. Unhappy with the food, especially at the price point. Tried to order the Taco Salad, but they had no ground beef. When asked if the chicken was seasoned, the waiter hesitated for a bit and said, 'It's plain chicken, sliced.' I decided to order the Pesto Chicken sandwich. Hubs got a burger. When the food came out, Hubs fries were warm...mine were cold/room temperature. I asked for hot fries, which the waiter attained quickly. Unfortunately, the hot fries were not good either. My sandwich was mostly bread and the chicken was pretty dry. Hubs liked his burger fine, but he also did not eat his fries. Cost was much too high for the food we received. Chicken fettuccini was tasteless, (definitely no care or effort went into making it). It was supposed to come with garlic bread (the bread ended up being the soggy, lightly toasted top 1/2 of a hotdog bun). The salad bar had the usual greens and fixings (beets, mushrooms, onions, etc. with 4 dressings) plus three-bean salad, pasta salad, and potato salad. This restaurant should have a "self serve" sign on the front door. Worst experience ever. The menu and website say full bar. Our server said only beer and wine were available. We walked inside to order a shot from the bar (willing to pay two separate tabs) which shouldn't be hard. The servers behind the bar acted clueless as to what to do. When you go to Silverton, just zoom right by this place. We went in because it looked cute. It was all downhill from there. I ordered a chicken parm sandwich. I asked if the sauce was good and the waiter commented it was made in house. When it came, first there was no parm, second, the roll was so burned that I had no choice but to only eat the meat. Even when I showed the waiter the bun, he just shrugged and said oh. The sauce may be house made but they need to learn how to use some spices like basil, oregano etc. My son and my husband both got the chicken fried steak. They said it was decent, but it pounded so paper thin it was maybe 4 oz of meat. We had a total of 4 meals which cost $97.00. Don't waste your money.
