Visiting Telluride on a Mom and Daughter trip. We walked by looking for a place to eat and saw the large patio with the beautiful flower baskets and had to take a peak at the menu. We were sold!! The entire experience was delightful. The wine, the appetizers, entrees, and dessert was exceptional!! My daughter ordered the spaghetti with Shrimp and I had sea bass tortellini with saffron sauce. Absolute heaven!! But, the best part of our experience was our server Claudia. One of my favorite dishes is veal piccata which is not on menu but most good Italian restaurants that already have veal on menu will accommodate but I was told no. So, I got creative and I had artichoke hearts held off asked for a little extra lemon and ended up with a good piccata. My wife and I sat at the bar and split the mushroom risotto and the tiramisu which were both authentic and fantastic. The risotto was 10/10 even for the mushroom haters in the world (trust me I was one for most of my life). The service was impeccable with a knowledgeable bartender/server. Terrible. Food is insanely overpriced for pasta that is store bought, not fresh and served lukewarm. Pasta sauce is from a jar at best. $37 for 10 plain cheese ravioli's for a kids meal! And when I say plain they were not even salted. Save your money and go Clark's or the village market... Mediocre food at outrageous prices. They've got the ambience down but that's the extent of a real Italian experience. The restaurant looks the part and it sounds like the part as a lot of their staff are Italian. Once the food comes out, the gig is up. The cream of mushroom soup tasted like NOTHING. No hint of any kind of seasoning. I got the arugula salad with grilled shrimp and it was a bed of arugula with three overly cooked shrimp and a lump of goat cheese. Yum! My husband and I ate at Rustico for our 1st wedding anniversary when we were visiting and it was delicious. We got the rigatoni alla montanara and rigatoni alla grappa, both were delicious. We were seated outside and it was beautiful. Adam was our server and made the dinner all the more enjoyable. He has a fun personality, was respectful and prompt. He also treated us to bruschetta and limoncello for our anniversary - so thoughtful! Thank you, Adam! We had the tiramisu for dessert and it was delicious! Rustico is always on our list of restaurants to visit when in Telluride. They have fresh, tasty Italian food, good wines, and gelato! What else could you want? I absolutely love their patio when the weather is nice - and they're even dog friendly! My husband and I came in with our pup for lunch on our visit and had a tasty experience. I had their cabbage and mushroom salad to start and it was simple, yet so flavorful. I loved how fresh is tasted. For my entree, I ordered their pizza with ricotta, pepperoncinis, and mushrooms. It was so tasty and had just the right amount of spice. It normally comes with prosciutto as well but I opted out of the meat. The restaurant is HUGE and would be a great place for a large party or private event. Most places in Telluride are on the smaller side so this is truly a gem if you're looking to host a lot of guests. When we were there, it looked like they may have been setting up for a wedding reception on their patio. How cool is that? We were very lucky to get a table on July 4th! The atmosphere was relaxing and the service fantastic. We ordered the bruschetta as a starter and 4 tiny pieces came out. At a cost of $14.50, I expected both a larger portion and a more flavorful dish. It was just tomatoes with EVOO on toast. I was not very hungry so I ordered the caprese salad as an entree and it was the same thing. No flavor at all. It did come with balsamic on the side but this would have been better with a balsamic reduction. I don't recommend ordering this. My friends all had pasta and raved about it. I guess I ordered poorly but they were blown away by the rigatoni, sea food pasta and how perfect they were. The desserts were also baller. The Tiramisu was light, fluffy and perfect. The apple tart with gelatos was also a hit. If you come here, stick to the Italian staples and go for pasta and desserts! read more

Personally I think this is the best place to eat in telluride but definitely the best Italian around. I have family here and have been visiting for years and we always come here. For some reason locals never recommend rustico to tourists but it's so amazing. Marat the waiter is so incredibly kind. I love the pizza, mushroom pasta but any pasta really. All their wines are amazing. I've never had anything I didn't love here. Such a nice ambience very romantic. Love dining outside in the summertime. read more

I love how amazing the flowers look hanging outside of the restaurant. It is picture worthy. If you eat there for lunch the patio looks like a lovely place to eat! We stopped in after 8 PM to grab dinner because it wasn't too crowded inside. I know they have heaters outside but it was still a little chilly for us. We opted to sit at a booth near the bar since that was the warmest area. We shared a bunch of food. Calamari- I loved that they have the tentacles in here. I didn't taste the citrus vinaigrette but it was still very tasty and we enjoyed it. Cesar Salad- It was good but left a little something to be desired. Maybe more dressing or a bit for garlic. Still very good. Caprese Salad- I think that was the least tasty dish we ordered. IT just lacked flavor. The tomatoes were ripe and the cheese was good but it needed more flavor to it. Maybe we should have added more balsamic dressing to it but it wasn't the tastiest. Mushroom Risotto- Excellent flavor throughout the entire dish! I loved how the truffle oil was present but didn't take over the dish! There were a good amount of mushrooms in the dish as well. Even though we were sharing the dish I may have eaten the majority of the dish! :) Chocolate Espresso Mousse- Really delicious! I wish it was bigger since we were sharing it! Oh boy, what a disappointment this place turned out to be for our family to spend one of our few precious evenings together! Of all the restaurants we ate at (breakfast, lunch and dinner) in Telluride, this restaurant was our least favorite and the biggest disappointment during our Christmas vacation there.. Why, sub-par food, especially the pastas, cold and lumpy, (pizza was quite good) and ridiculously poor service, after the waiter realized we only had 4 alcohol drinkers on a table of 8. I must say the 4 who did drink ordered an $80 bottle of wine and several beers thereafter. The place was 60% full (a clue? during the holidays?) and we noticed our server switched off when we declined the second bottle of wine he was recommending. Thereafter he did not inquire about our food, our table was not cleared for 20-25 minutes after we completed our dinner (again the place was not full and there were plenty of wait staff) and I had to ask the maitre d to please clear the table so we could order desert. The desert menus came another 10-15 minutes after the request from our waiter, and were tossed on the table! we were somewhat perplexed as to what his problem was except greed, we really felt all he cared about was the final tab and his tip! when he finally came to ask for our order in another 10-15 minutes (we had two young adults with us 12, 15), we declined and here's the clincher, which has prompted me to write this very specific review, despite our host reaching out for the bill, he gave the bill to one of our younger female guests. Again, poor etiquette from a greedy waiter. Never again will we go to this terrible establishment. Our most amazing experiences were at The butcher & the baker (lunch, coffee & deserts) Allred's -Gondola Station, (lunch, spectacular ambiance, views & service), Timber Room, Brown Dog Pizza, to name a few. read more

Who is giving all these 5 star reviews? We decided to eat here because we did not have reservations and got into town late and wanted a quick bite. Started with the bruschetta appetizer. As you can see on the picture this was barely a sampling. While the tomatoes had a nice freshness to them, the bread was not toasted and the juice made it mushy like a wet sponge. It also lacked seasoning as the garlic and basil were imperceptible. So basically chopped tomatoes on white bread for $14.50. Main course was pasta. My wife had the mushroom fettuccine. Pasta cooked properly, nicely al dente but where are the mushrooms?! As you can see there was about 5 slivers in the whole dish. Pasta and sauce for $27. I made the mistake of ordering the pasta "special"; spinach ravioli stuffed with chicken. I had about 10 ravioli and I swear that it was salmon and not chicken. "Stuffed" was a loose description since there was such a small amount I cannot tell you what meat was in there. The real kicker was that when the bill came I saw that the "special" was $38. The only thing special was the rip-off. With our cocktails our bill came to $168 after standard tip (service was fine, not the waiters fault we got ripped off). If you like paying $30 for $2 in food costs this is the place for you, otherwise just get a pizza at Brown Dog next door. read more

First rate Italian restaurant with high end traditional fare. Pricey for Italian but worth it. So popular they added a large tent covered patio, very pleasant on a rainy night. Reservations a must. We had an excellent veal, over pounded but scrumptious taste. Read the reviews...we jumped in with both feet and enjoyed a great meal here. We made reservation the same day, and were seated right away for our 7:00 time slot. When we arrived at 6:45, others walk in's were being quoted 7:45 seating times...so even in off season on a Wednesday night, plan accordingly or expect to wait. We were sat in the dining room below the main entrance, tables were spaced appropriately and staff wore masks and gloves. Fresh bread was delivered immediately, and water was offered. Be careful here, and specify "tap" or you will be paying for expensive bottled options as others have noted. My wife ordered a nice glass of red wine, and I had my signature Arnold Palmer. The wait staff and bus staff were very attentive during our visit, and the dining room and patio area were fairly well seated. We had carpese salads to start, and they were exceptional...fresh tomatoes, perfect portions of mozarella, and basil. We drizzled the dish with viangrette and enjoyed. Our server explained the specials of the day, we placed our order, which was pleasantly served just about 10 minutes later. My wife had a ravioli dish in a light pink sauce (forget the name) which was light and buttery...very well prepared. My Rigatoni Alla Montanaro was also delicious, with a tangy tomato based sauce, and zesty sausage slices. We both accepted the offer of sprinkled parmesan cheese. Yes, the entrees here are 20+ dollars per plate, but this is Telluride and if you expect to pay less for more...I'm sure there is an Olive Garden in Montrose and hour away?? Following dinner we ordered Tiramisu, which was light, spongy, and dusted with cinammon and powdered sugar. This washed down perfectly with my dark and rich cappucino. To say that we were absolutely blown away would be an understatement. We knew we were craving Italian and wanted to splurge on our last night in Telluride, and Rustico just happened to be about two blocks from where we were staying. From the moment we walked in the doors, we were treated like the most important dinner guests they'd ever seen. Our waiter was extremely friendly and talked through the whole menu and how they prepare the food. There were also a few younger male employees who were on top of everything whether it be refilling drinks, supplying bread, presenting cheese, etc without feeling overbearing. The wine list was a little over my head, but I was given beer recommendations and it did not disappoint. From the time we made our decisions on the meal, I think our dishes were brought out in under 10 minutes, it was incredible. The Rigatoni Alla Montanara was fantastic and just the right portion. The blend of premium sausage mixed with a spicy marinara and rigatoni with ricotta cheese was impeccable. I was in food coma for the next hour.
