Bagel with hair baked into it

Hair was literally baked into this bagel. Pretty disgusting and the picture might not do justice but there's legit hair all over the bagel it looked like mold but it was just like someone shaved over this bagel before they baked it.

Got an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. The cream cheese was light and savory and paired perfectly with the saltiness of the everything bagel which were delicious, thick and chewy. If driving, you will need to find street parking. There can be a bit of a line but it moves fast. Seating is extremely limited inside and tends to be a bit cramped, so be aware as it is more of a grab-and-go place!

Adorable place with a great vibe. All of the food looks amazing and the team are super friendly! Glass bottle coke for the picky ones (me included). Definitely worth the scooter ride over. Uber scooters are my favorite to get to the perfect spot

    Dozen bagels to go.

Not sure why this place is always so packed. The bagels are huge and doughy and really don't have much flavor to them. Got a dozen with a mix of sesame (flavorless), rosemary sea salt (smelled great, tasted bland), and everything (mid). Prices were decent. Service is fast and friendly, but not sure the bagels are worth the wait/effort.

Hit up Nate's Bagels early one morning after a morning bike ride, and it honestly hit the spot; great post-workout meal. They've got a nice little outdoor seating area where you can chill and enjoy your food. Super casual, good vibes. I didn't sit down this time just grabbed my food to go but next time I definitely plan on sitting and soaking in everything. The inside looked nice too, clean and well put together. Parking can be a bit of a hassle, since it's all street parking. And this place gets busy fast. When I rolled up to pick up my food, there were tons of online order bags stacked up and people already waiting as soon as they opened. So if you're not ordering ahead, be ready for a tiny crowd just something to be mindful of if you're in a rush. That said, this is probably one of my favorite bagel spots right now. I'll definitely be back again soon.

Nate's Bagel has everything you need to start the day. It has many breakfast bagel options, coffee, orange juice and more. When you come in, it's not that big, but it serves its purpose. You go straight towards the back to put your order in and wait for your name to be called. The food is picked up on the counter by the door. That's also where all the to-go orders sit. The coffee is self-service and has a few syrups available. On this visit, I had the Banh Mi on a rosemary and salt bagel. It was delish! The pork belly was amazing! Great flavors combined. My husband had what he always had, the Lox with the Works in an everything bagel. It's got the lox, cream cheese, tomatoes, onions and capers. Wow! Both of these do not have eggs, but you can order others that do if that's your jam. There are 2 tables inside and outside and a long counter against the wall to sit. There is also an "All Gender" bathroom in the back. There are napkin dispensers throughout. Watch your step coming in and out. Overall, this place is great. I love coming here and enjoying my breakfast and coffee. There's a mix of customers, but mostly VCU and young people enjoy this little gem. It's walkable too, so you'll see people walking or riding their bike here. I definitely recommend this place. Also, they opened a new place in Scott's Addition. I haven't been there, but heard they sell pizza bagels.

Delicious bagel spot with quick service! The bagels are perfectly cooked, fresh, and have that classic bagel texture. This is a cozy spot on the corner in RVA with a welcoming vibe.

What a great corner bagel shop! Visiting from D.C., it was packed on a Sunday morning in January. The counter had dozens of paper bags for online orders. I ordered a sesame bagel with one egg, country ham, herb aioli, pepper jelly, and American cheese. I LOVED it. The bagels are thick and chewy, just the way I like them. If you love bagels, stop by! Street parking is easy to find right out front.

Nate's Bagels - OMG - Best kept secret & it is NOT a secret!! Bustling & energy all over the place - A constant flow of people picking up bags of amazing bagel sandwiches and did I MENTION the RUGELACH!! SNEAK peek of the vibe! So where did Nate's come from you ask? Nate Mathews, a former engineer turned bagel-maker after experimenting with his own recipes. He started out as a POP UP SHOP - of course - lol. GOING to the source, he perfected his bagel-making traditions by studying the best!! (including New York/New Jersey) and refining a kettle-boiled, stone-baked bagel! All about a bagel with flavor, girth and just amount of crunch top. I LOVED the texture and taste!! Texture is important!!! Then BOOM - 2018 - Well here we are - W. Cary Street & S. Allen Ave in Richmond's Fan District! It's eclectic, energetic & an embodiment of Richmond - a fabulous, layered, complex and ever evolving river city. Bagel and city - robust, flavorful & textured!

I was just as skeptical as you probably are/were about the Breakfast Banh Mi, but coming here just to say it is freaking worth the try. Delicious, unique, and such a cool meld of flavors. So impressed that this somehow worked. See the pic for some eye candy!

First time here and their bagels are more on the bready side. If your like filling, thick bagels this is a good place for you. Not a lot of seating so it's more of a grab and go type of place. I got the lox and the works and it was a little light in the lox

First time at Nate's Bagels and it was worth the wait. It's a tight space inside with a never ending line of customers but the line moves quickly. Here are the highlights: **inclusive menu with options that lend themselves to all types of dietary needs which we enjoyed! **they give you the option to make your own bagel. ** They have tomato jam!!!! And it is GOOD **They have a make your own cold brew bar with milk options, syrup choices and ice!! **The pick up area is a mad house! There are orders galore which seem a little overwhelming, but the staff has it under control. ** They have seating inside but honestly I think shifting some if that seating outside would help with the flow of traffic. **over all I really loved my bagel. I got the Licx with an everything bag and a side of Tomato jam.

A great bagel restaurant near downtown Richmond! I went there two times during my two day visit to Richmond. Their bagels were huge (about 5-5.5 oz each), freshly baked and chewy. Their deli sandwich was delicious and very affordable, and they allow customers to DIY their sandwiches. Highly recommended to t

Ask the Community - Nate's Bagels

Is there a GF menu or options?

Hi Alvin! We currently do not have any gluten free options. We are hoping to have some gluten free pastry options available in the future. Unfortunately, after much research and testing we have been unable to develop a way to roll and cook bagels…

    What is the Nate bagel?

Hi Anne B. It is the same ingredients of regular bagels only with egg added to mixture. Thanks for inquiring!

How does one order a bagel online and get it sliced only once with double the cream cheese? (Sorry, yelp only lets us ask 1 question so I had to delete the other after you answered)

It happens to be in the small parking lot in Carytown where there are usually 6-7 cars ( Did you get it?) looking endlessly for a space or just blocking everyone else. You always have the option to just park on Cary Street. It is worth it. On this visit, we had to try the Lox Bagel Sandwich on an Asiago bagel which comes in this cute box that if you detach its corner, it can transform into a plate. You're welcome. Anyways, the fresh dill on it is good. I love how they make it into 2 open-faced bagels with the goods. Feels like you got a 2 for 1 deal. Worth a try. The next one was recommended by the cashier. I always ask for recommendation or what's popular. He said to try the Swiss Melt on an Asiago bagel. Wow! You don't even taste the onions because they're caramelized and paired with fig jam. Chef kiss. It has a sweetness to it, but not overpowering if that makes sense. The coffee is great and they have at least 3 flavors to try. Definitely coming back over and over again.

The menu had lots of exciting brunch dishes, appetizers, salads, soups and deli section as well. There were plenty of cocktails, beer and wines choices available too. Prices were decent. I picked the Jewish Sailor that was a combo of toast with pastrami and beef sausage with red onion and mustard. When the dish came, it looked so scrumptious. Loved the flavor of the pastrami, the crunchy sausages, crispy toast bread, coleslaw all of it. I also got to try the pierogis that were delicious as well. The service was good overall. That's when I discovered that Baltik's Bagels in Richmond had won the People's Choice Award at that same BagelFest. I bookmarked it, forgot all about it, and then completely by coincidence I happened to drive right past it on my way home from DC. The first thing I noticed? This place was PACKED. It was a Saturday, so that's to be expected, but it's always a good sign when a restaurant is that busy. Actually, come to think of it, there wasn't even any parking left. I ended up parking over at the nearby Food Lion. Again, another good sign. I ordered the River City Sunrise with sausage, scrambled eggs, melted cheddar, scallion cream cheese, and normally it's served on their signature Everything SOFTIE™, their softer take on a traditional bagel that's made specifically for breakfast sandwiches. Unfortunately, they were sold out of the SOFTIE bagels when I visited, which honestly made me a little nervous because I've bitten into some hockey puck bagels in my lifetime. I swapped it for a jalapeño cheddar bagel instead and added chipotle mayo for a little razzle dazzle. BABY. When I took that first bite back in my car, that was THEE best bagel breakfast sandwich I've ever had in my life. The bagel had the perfect chew without being tough, the eggs were fluffy, the sausage was flavorful, and that chipotle mayo tied everything together perfectly. Thank God I don't live nearby because I'd be here EVERY. SINGLE. MORNING. before work. Another thing I loved was the self serve coffee bar. You can make your own hot or iced coffee exactly how you like it with regular or oat milk and a variety of flavors and sweeteners. It was the perfect pick me up before finishing the second half of my drive from DC back to Hampton Roads. All in all, Baltik's Bagels absolutely lived up to the hype. After eating there, I completely understand why they won the People's Choice Award at the 2025 New York BagelFest. If you're anywhere near Richmond, do yourself a favor and make the stop. Just don't expect to find easy parking because that crowd is there for a reason.
