    Nate's original

I've tried a lot of different chicken sandwich places and this one was just average. The chicken was kinda rubbery and it lacked a wow factor. The fries were crisp and flavorful. The location has an electronic kiosk to order from and didn't have an option for sandwich only. After ordering the food was delivered pretty quick. The interior was small with limited seats.

Went to Nate's while visiting paso. The worst part of eating fried chicken is it coming off the breast meat. I wanted fried chicken. Not what I got. Service was fast and everyone was very nice.

We were passing through Paso on our way to Monterey and we didn't want to go to a sit down restaurant, but we also didn't want fast food. We both love hot chicken so stopped at Nate's and so glad we did. We had the hot chicken strips and the portion was good. The hot fries were tasty and plentiful and the bonus was the texas toast that came with the meal. These types of meals usually come with a slice of wonder bread so it was a nice surprise! They also provided 2 dipping sauces, a spicy one and maybe a ranch. The spicy one was legit spicy and very tasty. We sat outdoors, there were plenty of seats. The restroom was clean. It was a great stop to stretch our legs and fill our tummy's.

These were the best chicken wings I have ever had! Nice and crunchy on the outside hot and succulent on the inside! I chose to go with mild for my spice level. It was a good choice. All the spiciness and flavor without the burning heat. The fries were great but the star was truly the wings! Their vanilla milkshake was pretty tasty. Super thick! Have been sipping on it for nearly 30 minutes and it's still thick, cold and creamy! Thanks Nate's Nashville Hot Chicken! You're now a regular stop on my way south.

Good chicken, but sandwich was too gooey and fell apart.

Maybe I should have read reviews before trying Nate's Hot Chicken. As I sit here writing this review I find myself nodding to many of the comments that are listed in the "Recent Reviews" column to the right. Especially the 2/3 star ones. We definitely didn't have a 4/5 type of experience. Dear Hubby and I were driving back from the Bay Area. It was about dinner time, and we didn't want to take the time for a full sit down experience, even though it was his birthday. We'd had a long few days with ailing family members / hospital visits. We were just anxious to get home to our own bed and routine for a bit. In the same center as Starbucks and Tortilla Town, we decided to give Nate's a try. We were hungry and tired, in search of a break before more road time. Turned out to not be our best spontaneous choice. Music much too loud. No one eating there in the 6:00 hour; might have been a sign. The cashier wasn't unfriendly, exactly, but not very customer service oriented, either. When I mentioned that it was my husband's birthday, the man didn't smile, didn't offer a simple "Happy Birthday", nothing - deadpan. Maybe he couldn't hear me because the rap music was annoyingly playing at high volume. I get that Nate's, and other hot chicken places, are going for an urban anti-chic vibe, but it's not really family friendly, which cuts down on potential customers. The interior design had some interesting elements, but it didn't warm the cockles of my heart, let's just say. Foodwise, the piece of chicken on my sandwich was good, but it was thicker and smaller than the bun, and smothered in a lot of slaw and sauce. Thus the whole thing fell apart before I came close to finishing the chicken. That left a lot of mushy bread and very sauce-covered fingers to deal with, which was messy in the extreme. The taste was okay, but not memorable in a good way. In the dining room they had a TV playing "Fail 101" videos, some of which were amusing, but to watch people be humiliated by falling down or randomly getting hit with something unexpectedly got old before very long. I didn't feel uplifted by the dining experience. It was overwhelming/underwhelming at the same time. I might consider ordering something to go at a future time, but they're not at the top of my list during a drive-through trip past Paso Robles. Also, it wasn't that reasonably priced for what it was. I did like the fries. The chicken sandwich was so filling that I didn't finish all the fries. Brought them home and revived them in the air fryer for lunch another day.

stopped here on our way up north from LA! i've tried soooo many hot chicken places over the years and this spot is solid. unlike the other reviewers, my siblings and i appreciated the loud music! it kept us vibing as we ate. all the food was up to par with other great hot chicken joints. we loved that the toast that comes with the tenders was garlic bread! it was unique. there was also an abundance of condiments-- my favorite is always the honey or mayo ketchup! or both! i had a really good root beer with my food from the amazing soda fountain. i can say i genuinely enjoyed my meal. the interior of the restaurant is also super sick. such a cool spot!

I'm from the valley but work in Paso. I was looking for a hot chicken place to try in the area. I decided to give Nate's Nashville a try. Boy was I not disappointed! I ordered wings and 1 tender to try it out. First off the hot is HOT! Dont think you're getting a Dave's Hot chicken hot. It's HOT but the kind of hot that makes you torture yourself to eat it because it's that good! The tenders and wings came with ranch and a chipotle aioli sauce. That chipotle sauce combined with the wings or tenders is worth taking a drive to Nate's. Service was quick and it's a really nice place to just sit and eat as you ponder why you love torturing yourself with spicy food. Now that I know where to go I'll be revisiting this place as much as my mouth can handle it :)

My Nate said best Nashville Hot Chicken he has ever had and he has been to Hattie B's in Nashville and other Southern hot chicken places. Quick and friendly service. We will be back!

Stopped by Nate's for lunch on our way up to Monterey. We were very pleasantly surprised by the delicious food we had at Nate's. The chicken was very flavorful and the fries and toast were great too! Would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for some hot chicken. The sauces were good as well.

Quick service. The food was great and tasted fresh. We had the mac and cheese fries and they were perfect.

Sell Pepsi. Good shakes. Good chicken. Ambience is loud due to the TVs and the music but it's not bad outside seating also clean and quick.

Fun atmosphere and good food!…read more Stopped here for a quick drink and bite to eat before heading back to the hotel for the night. The town was hosting live music at the plaza across the street so we sat outside facing the plaza. It was a great way to enjoy our meal! The place was pretty packed because of the World Cup going on (Mexico vs Korea) so I understand why our server was a bit slow. She was handling tables inside and outside but keep in mind when it gets busy you may wait a bit longer for things. I ordered "The Steak" which is a hangar steak with a compound butter on top and Brussels sprouts on the side, I subbed potatoes for coleslaw. The steak was cooked nicely and had a great crust on the outside, very flavorful with just the right amount of saltiness. The Brussels were some of the best I've had even though they were so simple. I ate every last one! The slaw was ok but not a ton of flavor, it was pretty light on the sauce. We also got an order of bacon wrapped jalapeños with cilantro ranch. They were so good! We destroyed them in seconds while burning our tongues on the lava-like cheese. Worth it!

November 2025 Since…read moreI gave such a stellar review of the Bacon Crusted Burger at Street Side Ale House, I must update the comments since people do go to restaurants based on other's reviews. And I am so embarrassed to have recommended this restaurant to dozens of people. We raved to our friends about this place and this burger in particular. So, when we traveled with them to Paso Robles this week, we took them there on Thursday night. We passed on having the Wagyu 8 oz. burger and fries at In Bloom (Michelin listed) the night before in anticipation of this burger. Service was abysmal. We sat for quite some time with no service. My wife went in and asked where our server was? Finally, a woman showed up and said our waiter would be with us shortly. Sometime later, a friendly waiter arrived. He was obviously new, under-trained, and spread too thin. He was very personable, but our drinks sat on the bar for a long time and my wife had to go in and ask if she could take then. "No, the waiter will bring them out." Meanwhile, our friends were sipping on their drinks. We got our appetizers and then ordered our meals. The food came quickly, maybe too quickly, and I noticed no egg yolk oozing out (it was halved for us in the kitchen) and the burger overall was much thinner than the last time and the arugula was so wet under the patty. So, we ate a couple bites of it and it just did not taste right. I opened it up to find a baked or boiled grey patty with no crispy bacon wrapping. The bacon was soft, I mean boiled soft and was a small lump on top of the burger patty, not even close to crispy. More like a damp towel. The avocado was sliced but not spread out, so stuck on the left side. The egg was hard cooked with a solid yolk. No pepper to be found. I showed the waiter who was stunned. He thought we were kidding. The manger came out, looked at it, asked what we wanted to do. I was a bit surprised given the wreck that this burger was and said I don't know, what do you want to do? He said the chef wasn't there but took the plate back to the kitchen. He came back and said the chef (wait, he wasn't there) was surprised and said it was not right. The chef (if he was there) should have headed straight out to us and apologized. So, the manager took the burger off the bill but left the same horrible burger ($22) on our friend's bill. I should not have to tell a manager how to fix such a mess and disaster of a meal and service. I hope they fix their kitchen, whoever is checking food at the pass, and the service or they will be another casualty to the restaurant business in Paso. Sorry I had to write this as I rarely post negative reviews in order to not hurt a business and their employees.
